I have a friend that owns an e-bike. As a shade tree mechanic, I became that person's e-bike mechanic. In my servicing, repairing, and test riding that bike, I've gotten interested in using an e-bike as a source of exercise other than my treadmill. I have heart failure, so when I'm done exercising, I'm done. Which is why I hadn't bought another standard bicycle or go on walks very often. I stumbled on your channel researching e-bikes and your energy, format, and showing the ups and downs of each model has me watching all of your videos.
Glad you’re enjoying your bike. I’m considering getting one. I’m five years past heart attack. Don’t want another one. Remember to take your water pill.
@@desert4seat Honestly at this point I'm looking at the Wired Freedom... maybe it's because I live in a hilly town and own a motorcycle I think a two wheeler should have some performance. LOL

TailHappyTV: Man, I 'm enjoying your vids because of the elements of great editing, sprinkings of humor and not hiding any issues you encounter along the way. The fact that you choose this Wired Freedom for your preferred ride on at least one vid I've watched is very telling. One thing: I would suggest a helmet at alltimes while riding, especially when flying along at 40mph!

@@Daniel-tj4fz For weeks I never went through even a single bar of energy. But I felt like I wasn’t getting everything. Top end was about 33-35 MPH. I wrote the company and they were prompt and told me that in the settings I was running CH5 at 4. For full power I should put the CH5 at 10. I did, and zowie! Up to 38-40 MPH! Of course I started going through bars. So, I think I can get about 60 miles on a charge, based on guesswork and past usage. But it might be 40 or 50 if I keep the settings at CH5 -10. But, the factors to be considered… I’m 211 pounds, I’m in Florida and the heat reduces the battery effectiveness. And, now that I have experienced the big rush, I’ll probably put the CH5 back down to 4, maybe 5. I only drive about 20-25 MPH, and don’t need the speed. I’m perfectly content with a lower speed where I can enjoy the drive. That all said, every day gets better and better on the bike. Compared to a conventional bike I can go twice as far, twice as fast, with half the work. And, yes, I get easy ghost peddling. I love to get up to 20 and just roll the feet lazily around and feel the bike just coast. It is easily the most fun I have ever had on a bike. Al

As an actual cyclist. Sorry, these aren’t “bicycles”. They have motors, accelerate and decerate fast than any regular bike can, much heavier, not including rider, than any regular bicycle made. They DONT belong on the bike path he was riding on either. Him showing us quickly he can accelerate on that path down there on the beach and up the California incline with people walking is a perfect example of how eventually somebody will get hit. They don’t belong on actual bicycle paths. Maybe the street.

I'd also say this bike is an optical illusion. From a distance, it looks like a kids BMX bike (with added rack & fenders) but as you come closer to it, it gets bigger & bigger.
After you try a 60v bike, you will never want a 48v bike again. After you try a full suspension e bike, you will never want a hard tail. Wired really has THE bike and the price is ridiculously low considering the alternatives. Wired should really raise their prices until they can catch up with demand. Some complain about a $250 shipping charge, but lowering the price by including shipping at this point might push the wait times out to six months. Anyone on the fence should order soon as the factory can only make so many units annually and the new model is just now being delivered in mass. You can always cancel if the reviews are bad or something more appealing comes to market before delivery.
After sharing the Freedom bike reviews with all my friends, one has already pulled the trigger. And 2 others are seriously considering the same thing. This bike is so extraordinary it's really a no brainer ! The almost 3 month wait for delivery is the only down side.
I think they are trying to market the bike at the $2k price point. That’s probably smart. If they included shipping they need to make it up someplace. There is also shipping insurance at $75+/- bucks. Don’t like it, but get it. It’s money either paid in the list or the total. A business can’t operate at a loss. And… a near by Midwest buyer can fuel up their own vehicle and do a pick-up?
@@Doc.HolidayI picked mine up in person back in June. They will also assemble the bike for you for free, good if you want to make sure it’s perfect before delivery. I hear you. We see lots of 26" and 20" fat tire ebikes but I'm thinking a 24" would be a sweet spot for lots of people including me. Very few 24" fat tire bikes to choose from.
I own the '23 model, and a small but significant tip is to change the C5 setting to 10, it over doubles your acceleration.. as it's limited, even while feeling plenty powerful
10 seemed way to jerky for me, I settled on 6. Also, 10 seemed a little unsafe because sometimes you can kick on PAS unintentionally by slight movements of the pedals. Having that twitchy of acceleration when stopped for a passing bus or say near a steep drop off on a trail can put you in a spot to not have time to stop yourself before disaster. I found a better setup is the 6 setting but having the throttle setting on max all the time for when you need those quick bursts of acceleration.

I had an eBike for awhile. There are several things to consider before buying one. First, there are serious safety hazards with riding them in traffic. Second, the batteries are not cheap and will run you around $400 a year, and repairs are expensive. Third, if you live in hot climates, the batteries can tend to overheat and leave you stranded. Other than that, they are a blast to ride.
The red and black connector is called an Anderson power connector. On the connector is two small holes spitting the red and black, there is a lock pin designed to press into the two holes keeping the connector from separating.
Im happy with my Ariel Rider Kepler for $1,799 ..Just about 2 mph less in throttle only and PAS speeds. No rear suspension but for me the suspension seat post is fine. you should really add a review of each bike on what it's like to ride it 5 miles back to the house on a dead battery or electrical system. That seems pretty important.
I can tell you this fact right here. If it’s a moped style 20 inch wheel ebike you will not be able to pedal it without power. You’re pushing those. If it’s a normal size bike or fat tire one it’s not too bad, just like riding a regular bike with some added weight and very doable
Is the bikes brakes rated for 40 mph breaking. I’m sure it can stop but will the breaks continually handle the 40 mph braking. If you ride at 40mph how long will the battery last?

Before you purchase a Wired Freedom, check out Wired’s Warrantee and E-Cells 5 Star Warrantee. Wired’s Warrantee is only One Year. E-Cell’s Warrantee: Frame= Lifetime Motor and Battery= 2 Years The Rest of the 5 Star Components= One Year. Facts, Not Emotion. Compare Warranties for Yourself.
The version of the e-cells five star they sent him would add up to alot more expensive bike the 2000$ with the optional upgraded front and rear suspension and i think upgraded brakes from the stock e-cells five star. So personally I would expect a 2500-2750 bike to be a bit better then a 2000$ bike(2250 with the shipping). Also going to be interesting to see how the newer version of the Wires Freedom with the stock dual batteries improved motor and motor controller and 4 piston brakes will compare with the "dual star" package five star e-cells is seeming to respond with. I'm sure both bikes would be 90% similar experience really all the animosity between the two camps is dumb, they're 2 good 40mph e-bikes and the best deal is probably who's ever is the newest.
@@psavar97 A lot of what you say is true. I am a consumer, not a reviewer. Originally we were interested in the Wired freedom. As I researched the bike and company I came across E-Cells and their 5 Star Bike. On going over Wired’s web site I found many claims that were no longer true and a lot of disinformation and hype. Their were claims that were being made by Wired reviewers that were not true. Anything that really bothers me is someone or a company that lies to me. Another thing that bothers me is a company were the owner is not transparent. I want to see who I am dealing with, Wired boast that their bike is the best and has superior quality, but they do not Back up their boast with a strong warrantee. That tells me a lot about the integrity of the company and it’s ownership. Both bikes have strong merits. But one bike is produced by a company that has only been in business for a few years and is struggling to be noticed in the e-bike business. The other has been in business for several years. They started out making dual motor-dual battery e-bikes.They have learned a lot in that pursuit. That knowledge that they have learned is reflected in the products they produce today. Some day Wired will produce a quality product. But do not lie to me and make false claims about your competition in order to obtain my business. By the way, I ordered two 5 Stars each with seven Upgraded Options. To me it is not just about the product, it is also how you go about your business!!!!!
My biggest concern with purchasing my first e-bike is the issue many are facing with backwards compatibility and proprietary systems. I went to Wired's website and noticed the '23 battery only works with the '23, and the '24 only works with the '24. That's worrisome for someone who doesn't plan on buying a $2000 ebike every year. I was really close to pulling the trigger, too.

I ordered my full suspension black Wired Freedom ebike (I wish they had a red frame color option) a couple of days ago (Jan 5th) and I can't wait to get it. I'm also gonna buy a 2nd battery. 2400 - 2500 for a bike is phew (alot) but I'm 🙏 it's worth it.
also should i be worried about useing this on trails , or just don't be dumb on trials and go normal speed lol, also should i be worried about it not having a class 3 sticker on it when i unlock it ?
What do you think about using this on hills, rocky dirt and trails ? We live up here in New Hampshire lots of trails. I need something to go out on the trails with my pups.
Awesome review! Really interested in this bike! I’m 6’6” with a 36” inseam - and I’m 230 lbs. From your review, seems like I would be comfortable on this model. Any thoughts??

I have a friend that owns an e-bike. As a shade tree mechanic, I became that person's e-bike mechanic. In my servicing, repairing, and test riding that bike, I've gotten interested in using an e-bike as a source of exercise other than my treadmill. I have heart failure, so when I'm done exercising, I'm done. Which is why I hadn't bought another standard bicycle or go on walks very often. I stumbled on your channel researching e-bikes and your energy, format, and showing the ups and downs of each model has me watching all of your videos.
Which bike did you end up getting
Glad you’re enjoying your bike. I’m considering getting one. I’m five years past heart attack. Don’t want another one. Remember to take your water pill.
What bike did you get?
@@desert4seat Honestly at this point I'm looking at the Wired Freedom... maybe it's because I live in a hilly town and own a motorcycle I think a two wheeler should have some performance. LOL

TailHappyTV: Man, I 'm enjoying your vids because of the elements of great editing, sprinkings of humor and not hiding any issues you encounter along the way. The fact that you choose this Wired Freedom for your preferred ride on at least one vid I've watched is very telling. One thing: I would suggest a helmet at alltimes while riding, especially when flying along at 40mph!
I purchased this bike because of your review. Appreciate your cheerful no holds barred approach. Enjoy the 50. ~ Al
I've owned electric stand-up scooters and only dual motor. I want a more enjoyable experience and am interested in purchasing my first ebike. I'd like an ebike that's comfortable, easy to work on, find parts for, and has a long range. I'm not so sure about a single motor ebike, however. I was looking at the Ariel X52 step through or their Grizzly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What kind of range do you get from the wired with regular riding, and do you get any ghost pedaling?

Thanks, I'm caught between the two Ecell torque and wired but can't go wrong with either it appears

please don't call these mopeds or motorcycles even if they feel like it some times. not even jokingly. Powers that be will see this and take this freedom away from people who can't afford cars. As an actual cyclist. Sorry, these aren’t “bicycles”. They have motors, accelerate and decerate fast than any regular bike can, much heavier, not including rider, than any regular bicycle made. They DONT belong on the bike path he was riding on either. Wired thanks you!
Your video and this bike are outrageous!!!! You're the best reviewer hands down. I can't believe this bike dude 🤤
They seem committed to continual product improvement and keeping the price at $2000. I thought the version I bought to be a great value at $2000, the new one is so much better with much more expensive components and it’s still $2000. These are Anderson PowerPole style connectors and can be used with a small locking pin through the holes in the connectors so they can't pull apart.
Does anybody know if Wired normally installs this locking pin and it was just overlooked in production? Anderson connectors are usually pretty tight even without a locking pin so maybe it was just never fully connected to begin with? I don't think one day's riding should cause this...even that hill should not cause this, so I'm betting it was loose from the get-go.

I'm 5-10 and 180#. It's quite the machine to master and will keep it in class 2 for awhile...
Those Chaoyang tires have a 20lb maximum air pressure!
I bought last years model and I love the bike. Customer support is incredible! I can't wait until the spring to start riding again!

How do you like it??!
On the connector is two small holes spitting the red and black, there is a lock pin designed to press into the two holes keeping the connector from separating.

you should really add a review of each bike on what it's like to ride it 5 miles back to the house on a dead battery or electrical system.

I brought this bike and adding a 72v 2000w front wheel. Stay tuned for my video. I have 2k on my juiced bike, will make it soon.
Which Juiced bike do you have?

Trail Happy TV also does a test on The New E-Cells 5 Star Model. He chose the 5 Star over The Wired Freedom as THE BETTER BIKE!!!

A lot of what you say is true.
I want to see who I am dealing with,
Wired boast that their bike is the best and has superior quality, but they do not Back up their boast with a strong warrantee.
Customer serviceve was available, thats good.
I'm new to ebikes. What do you mean by this? I was gonna pull the trigger too but your comment has me worried. Please elaborate. Thanks! 💯😊
@@TheCardmaker2317 It means replacement batteries will be very hard to get down the road as the model of bike is sunset (or no longer produced) because the batteries are matched to each bike.
So when a bike is sunset the battery most likely will be too.

Omg theres a vide somewhere online about that.. No iso yet

Do not tell a private bike shop that this bike goes over 28mph otherwise they will not touch it because of liability concerns. I got my black one delivered on Monday & this bike is an absolute U N I T! It won't really fit in the bed of my 2019 RAM LIMITED. I'm 5 foot 9, 185ish pounds and this bike will run you over if you're in front of it. I assembled it myself but somehow got the derailer cable tapping on the rear wheel spokes (chain got knotted up) 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️.. Wanted a bike shop to fix it. One said because I didn't buy the bike from them, they can't touch it. Another said because it goes over 28 mph (I was running my mouth about the bike) that he can't touch it either. The second guy told me how to. Went home and did what he said. It's fixed now. I was kinda upset that they only shipped me one charger when I paid $50.00 for a second one because I hope to get an extra battery in the future. My bike came with a few chips in the pain. They aren't noticeable. For some reason, the Tailhappy50 discount code doesn't work anymore. I'll do a whole video on my wired freedom on my channel possibly this weekend. I've said enough, gotta go shop around for a shop that will fix my wired freedom just in case something bad happens.
Is there a regeneration mechanism on that bike? (Charging batteries while going downhill in a low gear e.g.?)
Super happy with my 2023, thanks for the great reviews!
Ebike company and that stupid little 🔔
They need to upgrade that horn 😂
15:01 I agree with you there. I have both torque and cadence sensing ebikes and for everything but mountain biking I prefer the cadence sensor.
WOW @23:04
I'm buying one....🤠🤙🏼
I realized im a dual motor fan. I weight more and I just love the acceleration of the dual motor bikes.
Grreat videos....keep coming back to watch this one....might just pull the trigger on a wired freedom....by the way, what phone app are you using to track speed etc?
Speedometer and Strava
How will I be able to mount rear cargo basket to the rear rack if there will be second battery in the new model will there be enough space in between the battery and the rack for the mounting screws ?
I'm debating between this bike and the Aventon Adventure 2. This one is about $500 more with shipping.
No mention of the $250 shipping fee they charge.
I recently purchased an orange wired freedom, it's supposed to arrive this coming week, but your, more as in this video was the main reason I decided to go with it. And for a fact why I looked in and got proper protection for my bike as I'm a derailer guard. Without this video idk if I would've had the same insites as before if I hadn't watch this video
I own the '23 model, and a small but significant tip is to change the C5 setting to 10, it over doubles your acceleration.. as it's limited, even while feeling plenty powerful. Your gonna love it
OFFICAL. BIKE HAS JUST ARRIVED
wired has been going some great work ....
I'm getting my 2024 black Freedom Wired today in New Mexico. Tons of places to ride. I will be retiring my Rad Rover ebike but I'm looking forward to that...
Did you get an email stating your bike was arriving? I have heard nothing yet and due for early Nov shipment and its almost Thanksgiving (hopefully worth the wait!) -
@@troluc6204 Yes, Wired sent an email that my bike was on its way a week before it was sent with tracking.
I ordered mine september 30th, november shipping got delayed again :( The logistics companies in the country, has lost communications with the driver, the carrier and most importantly, the container of e-bikes.
@@troluc6204
you got lucky. Most of the containers got lost in Mexico. I ordered mine september 30th, november shipping got delayed again :( The logistics companies in the country, has lost communications with the driver, the carrier and most importantly, the container of e-bikes.
Sorry to hear that.
What’s your experience riding it in the rain, do you think it would survive in wet weather, or will it break?
My wife is 5'2", and I am wondering if she would be able to ride this beast... Any ideas? :)
It would depend on her inseam (long legs, she might be OK), but short version: unlikely. See CitizenCycle's video titled 2024 Wired Freedom Q&A and Wife Rides!
The correct answer is NO, this bike would be too tall for her.
NO, I would strongly recommend against someone that small getting this bike. It is huge, heavy and powerful AF. Size challenged people will struggle, and probably be quite unsafe.
I finally decided I wanted to settle for this wired freedom. After lots of research. I dont like that they charge so much for shipping. It doesnt cost $300 to ship an ebike to Seattle. So I call today at 3pm pacific, and lady picks up, I say good afternoon, how are you, she says good what ya need.... (oh ok shes busy.) Well I wanted to ask if you guys offer a dis"NO." Oh, I wanted to ask before I was interrupted, I wanted to ask if you offer a discount if we purchase 2 bikes? She then waisted no time, "no no no no. We made upgrades we see high tarrifs (china), we didnt raise the price!" Needless to say, man... i had $4800 dollars in a cart, and I simply walked away from it. Never done that before, it felt so rude to be chopped off.
I bought a cruiser in Jan 2024 with all the accessories. The bike is great, but none of the accessories are worth even the effort to click them. The front basket will not stay locked nor will the support lock sufficiently to not droop down causing the front light to be pushed into the front tire. The rear bag is only 2/3 of the support and should be increased in size at least 50%.
Get the bike but buy all the bells and whistles elsewhere.
The best e bike ever seen
That was simply the best review of this exact bike that I’ve seen, and this is the best in every regard. Thanks Dude
Great review, does it have cruise control for long, boring trips?
yeah, it does have a cruise function.
Love the bmx bars!
Just tried to order the Wired Freedom, was told the bike was being taken out of the cart, because there is no possible delivery in my area. I live in suburban New Jersey, about 20 miles from NYC. I'm confused, 2 months ago, I had a 150lb couch delivered to my door from Spain.
have you thought about picking it up at the wired store in illinois , .... and riding it back home and share the experience on youtube !... possible 800+ miles bike trip
@bc516Hello you're joking, right? It would take 24 + hrs of actual riding and 120 hours of charging. The youtube video would basically be a documentary on American motels.
I ordered my full suspension black Wired Freedom ebike (I wish they had a red frame color option) a couple of days ago (Jan 5th) and I can't wait to get it. I'm also gonna buy a 2nd battery. 2400 - 2500 for a bike is phew (alot) but I'm 🙏 it's worth it.
mine comes in january , does the bike come with a class 3 ebike sticker ??
also should i be worried about useing this on trails , or just don't be dumb on trials and go normal speed lol, also should i be worried about it not having a class 3 sticker on it when i unlock it ?
It’s not a class 3 when unlocked. Class 3 is 28mph max, and no throttle.
What do you think about using this on hills, rocky dirt and trails ? We live up here in New Hampshire lots of trails. I need something to go out on the trails with my pups.
$250 for shipping.... not good.
Awesome review! Really interested in this bike! I’m 6’6” with a 36” inseam - and I’m 230 lbs. From your review, seems like I would be comfortable on this model. Any thoughts??
worst case scenario you can add a longer seat post, but I think you'll be happy with the fit, this bike is great for tall guys
@@TailHappyTV Thanks so much- really appreciate it! Love your reviews!👍👍
So what were all those wires/connectors for? (At 3:10)
