- It was such a blast to watch this smokey little c10 truck improve day by day at Drag Week, equipped with a P pump 24V Cummins! Seeing a driver get to know his new set-up for the first time is always fun to witness, ESPECIALLY when they keep finding ways to go faster! Hopefully we’ll see some solid single-digit passes next year!
He discovered at the end of the trip that his new, smaller turbo was actually the correct size but the wrong part number of the two, he received a turbo that spins the OPPOSITE way than it was supposed to, so it was actually stealing boost from the larger turbo. We can't wait to see it in the future, and quite a bit quicker!!! One of our favorites from the trip!

to all haters. I own and built the truck. yes it spooled slow and yes I had some problems. they are fixed already. so hit me up. bring your build.bring your wallet. drive it. I will meet you half way .it must be yours and you drive it. I wont bad mouth your ride before or after. no trailer. it was purposely built to drive and I drive it alot more than you drive yours. and why was intake heater unhooked.who needs it thats why.if you dont have a car you work on and only work on a keyboard. I wont reply anyway. I met alot of great people during drag week and made new friends.if you think its easy I say try it.you probably wont make it.not looking to make enemies. but hate a loud mouth that wont back themselves up.jessie harris.

I love your truck. Low rpm highway cruise is awesome. Im sure it gets better mpg than the v8's in your class. whole lot of torque you got there!

I think the best part of the racing was that the truck was so quiet that you could hear the tires breaking loose for almost half the track. I'm not a diesel guy... but a very cool ride.

Those diesel motors make a metric fuck ton of power a a low RPM, it's insane, you should go look up Diesel Power Challenge by Motor Trend. It's pretty cool, and some of the truck their make insane power!
supermotardmario . But far less torque . Its like comparing bananas to pork chops... Both are tasty but not in the same food group ... But then again this pork chop will be kicking a lot of bananas asses in the future .
id take that diesel over a 2,000 hp any day. big power is a lot to maintain
+T Wayland it is alot of maintenance. I change the oil every 3000 miles.in a few more trips to work the long block will have 250000 miles. the turbos pump and injectors will have a 138000 miles on them.
you know a P pump 24 valve isnt that great, its just reliable, you can make a boosted hemi and get that power but with all new Internals, for that Cummins you can make around 1500 WHP and not even worry about the crankshaft snapping in half.
You have a total monster bad-ass ride bro. I have an 86 long box, bought it in 95 had a 5.0 boat anchor, but it would burn the tires at shift. Original owner used it to pull a 38' charter boat in N.C. I never have been able to afford a short box or stepside, I built 2 subsequent 5.7 small blocks. Natural aspiration both, maybe I like to shoot more than hotrod, I was in the Marine Corps which bought it, it was my first step in the so called credit building saga of American dream experience. Which blows BTW. My first rebuild didn't run like I expected, but never failed, I lost it in a storage repo auction :( but my next engine was a 1st gen efi rebuild. Could not afford to retrofit a efi power plant in a carb truck, but found a egr performance intake that would fit a carb intake to a efi head. 50,000 miles she gets 19 mpg, and dynoed at 400hp, back when I did her up for my tech school engine rebuild class. She will haul my 5000lb boat through the hills between broken bow NE and Loup CITY NE and get at least 14 on the highway. I had to build another Trans cuz the original 350-c bonded the 3rd gear planetary to the output shaft. So NOW I'm stuck With A Non Lockup converter Transmission. But I love square body gm truc k s keep on trucking dude!
I'm not big on diesels but that square was fun to watch every day.

When a diesel is running solid times like that, you know its making about the same power as a gasser, but its amazing that they hold together because the torque is astronomical. Very impressive.
May have not been the fastest vehicle there, but I guarantee he had the best towing potential, & guarantee he got the best mpg on the highway between races. All that while hanging with the big boys on the track

lol you are correct! worst average was 23 mpg best was 27.4 mpg. that was racing and driving.
I generally stand as a Ford guy but this Chevy is awesome!

This is my brothers truck, he literally pulled it out of the shop on Saturday night and loaded it on the trailer, absolutely zero testing. Still working out bugs but it is much faster now. And for the know it alls, it is a 01 24 valve with a p pump not a vp44 that he pulled from his 01 2500 ram. And we all know it didn't have a p pump from the factory. The HP he referred to in the video was I'm the dodge 2500. And during the transplant one turbo was damaged, a new center cartridge was ordered and installed and later discoverethey sent the wrong one.

The worlds biggest cargo ships, even the clean ones, still burn heavy bunker oil at sea. A single one of them, because of this heavy bunker oil, pollutes as much as 500M passenger cars. Let that sink in and then multiply by the amount of cargo ships out there.
No amount of racecars or daily drivers like this will ever make a dent in the pollution stats. Elon Musk will, but in a good way. And what Emka said, China and India don't give a shit about pollution. If you want proof check smog pics from large cities there.

With nearly half the power, SuperGramps is only about a second slower. Those rear gears are definitely holding them back
yep, but its a diesel so about half the rpm (probably 4k max) range so the low gearing is needed to have any top end
if you read other comments, he had the wrong turbo installed and it robbed a buncha power. he said it made 30lbs of boost i think, a built cummins is easily capable of double or triple that. not running right at all :)
90 lbs of boost? Are you crazy? That thing would probably destroy any axles put into it, lmao! Cant wait to see it make a comeback with the correct turbo pushing maybe 45lbs.

I've also been getting more interested in diesel power, I'm all about efficiency. If shit tons of horseys, and torque are built up, bonus. But I also strove to build fir longevity. But I'm frugal. I might build bad-ass motor, but I don't push em. I like my things to last as long as possible. My oast customers never blew up any of my engines, they wore em out.im nor a go big or go home, I'm a go big enough to get where you have to go. You do what you been doing bro. I'm a fan

Gale Banks had said on one of his video's that this diesel is wasting fuel when it blows all that smoke?! Yea,I'm not an expert on turbos but I'd be looking in to this bc they only use 1-2 gallons of fuel all day in that twin turbo-blown V8 diesel dragster and they also said they become more effiecent when they approach high horsepower levels like that Sidewinder diesel!!
and gale also uses nos to clean up excessive fuel/smoke. im a fuel only guy.

thats because the air to fuel ratio, he has too large of a turbo so it was having a hard time to spool it, which means that not enough air was getting to the engine but when it started to make boost the exhaust became clear.
Only 900 horse with 31 pounds of boost. 1600 pound of torque is impressive though

If anyone has seen the C10 in the video please report it to the police. The C10 was spotted yesterday on a trailer 'heading down 75 going towards Wapak'. Both the C10 along with a 60s C10 was stolen as of 10/29/2017 while in Dayton Ohio. WDTN has an article about this.

cool truck I'm not into diesel engines in chevy pick ups to much but that truck was impressive though needs lower gears 373 or 411 I prefer chevy engines but this was cool nice truck very cool
The gearing was the only thing keeping this horribly tuned truck up to speed, this thing will haul dick with a proper tune

a 3.73 or 4.10 would slow it down. a 3.23 or 3.08 would be better. but pro gears get few and far between. its not a high rev gasser.I had a 5.29 in it. best pass was a 14.52

It should go to the intake bolt as the ground for the intake heater. Probably have it off so the heater doesn't run or some other reason.

2redneck I've worked on them all. I spent a long time working on cat, Cummins, Detroit, Mack, and Volvo. Somebody as ignorant as you isn't going to teach me anything about diesels. If you can't get the mileage out of your Duramax then you are a shit tuner. My crew cab 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive gets 24.5 on a regular basis. If you knew half as much about Diesel engines as you claimed you would know that heavy duty trucks and equipment aren't anything like the light duty engines we are talking about. If inline 6 cylinder engines were superior in this market everybody would have them. Cummins has fallen behind the curve. Duramax and the power stroke don't even consider Cummins to be a legitimate contender anymore. Even Cummins is going to the v configuration in the Nissan and the Toyota pickups. As for the claims about your vehicles, pics or it didn't happen.
Is it a rw or aw drive? Could hear the tires chirping as they seemed to loose traction? Would a little weight in the back help that?

Billet 66 74 over billet s485. Its slower.not happy about it. Spent 20 k to slow down.all from advice from the experts. I'm gona out my junk back on it and run 8.50 again
