My daughter and I saw this car while they were gassing up at Buc-ee’s in Alabama a while back, and they were kind enough to let her check it out and take a couple pics… it’s a lot nicer in person, believe me!
I'm not crazy about gold but I have to admit it looks good on this car...especially the gold wheels. I had a 1978 white Camaro. At the time Cragar offered regular 5 spoke mags in gold so I bought a set. They looked really nice on the car.
Why is it that just now I find this channel? I have been a Kentucky Ballistics subscriber for at least two years now! Glad it finally popped onto my screen!
My dream car is a 1978 Black Bandit. My grandmother's 3rd husband, Dale, had one. I remember being a youngster absolutely infatuated with it. The black and gold, the giant eagle on the hood, the deep bucket seats, the 8-track player. I'm now 50, and if in my life I ever have the opportunity to own one, I will. That Bandit is awesome, Scott!!
Hey Scott, long time fan here and I like to tell you that we all know that you’ve worked your butt off to get where you are so you should never be embarrassed about how much of YOUR money you spend on something! Hell! You almost died making videos for us! Keep it up bro! My family is a dedicated KB family!
When we built our '73 4x4 Camaro back in the 80's all we did was mount it on a stock K5 Blazer frame. We did use a '75 Camaro front chassis. I loved the fact that we didn't need any lift-kit to clear 17x40 Ground Hawgs.
Beautiful Machine! I've seen this kind of thing done before but never this clean, polished, and non-janky. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. As a T/A and Mad Max fan (own a mostly stock and original '79 T/A myself) I love seeing crazy builds like this, and I'll say it again, so impressed with how clean and professional the whole thing is.
Holly Ballistic it’s beautiful! Now all you need is have A Trans Am camper made for that golden beauty to tow behind. Congratulations, Scott! It’s amazing!!!
Scotty, Upstate New York boy here. Dang that is truly a beauty, great job. Its a gem on the outside and inside. One sweet beasty. Congrats on a truly epic ride...
I had a 78 exactly like this one. Got mine in 1990 one owner car garage kept small block 400 small block auto trans. I hope you don't tear up the body the Y88 is a limited edition. Paint is solar gold. Car wasn't good off the line but on the highway she would absolutely fly!
It sure did turn out looking pretty damn good. I didn't like cars on 4x4 chassis 20 years ago, but they've been growing on me. This one is done really really well. Congrats!
Reminds me of when I was younger.. In Michigan, sort of in the country, we had monster trucks racing down our road. Back in the late 80's. Firebird is also one of my favorite cars as well.
The horror, the horror. To put it into Kentucky ballistic terms: to me this is kinda like converting a S&W 500 revolver into a belt fed .22 LR auto. It looks like a good build and all, but the concept mostly makes me shiver. Sounds good though :)
Heya big guy, maybe somebody has said it, but I would recommend adding some skid plates/bars to protect that body as much as ya can. Them tires gonna hammer stuff into em anyhow, but for any ditchrunning and the such... skid bars and plates.
Wow!! Original paint and decals..... amazing!! I've wanted one of these car ever since Smokey and the Bandit first came out in the movies. It never happened but I still love these cars and might still end up picking one up in my old age, lol. Congratulations Scott. Great job.
Be at ease, he didn't cut it up. He lets us know in the first minute & a half of the video that he used a chassis made for it without having to modify the original. Edit: As long as he kept the original chassis, he could easily put it back to stock.
Gear ratio sounds like it might be a tad high 🤔 maybe not 🤷🏻 didn't seem to launch well is why I say that. I never got to switch the gears in my truck after adding 37" and if I try hard enough it might spin a tire 😂
Sorry, just my opinion here but it's not a truck, and never was meant to be one. I love '78 T/A's, and this was a beautiful rare, one. Please take it off before you wreck it for heaven's sake.

Omg, I want one I'm sure that's what every gear head WANTS.....😮. YOU have been busy thinking what to put in this thing!!!. Is impressive to say the least.
My friend had one in the early 70's, same body design but 400 ci, posi rear, red paint. Of course yours will go places we Never could. Nice ride, Scott.

I love it Scott, I was born in 1980. When I was 3 or 4 yrs old, I was already interested in certain cars of that era. This '78 Trans Am was the first car I took a liking-too.. I'm 44 now, but even as a very young boy, when I would see one in-town while riding around with my Dad, I'd say "Look Dad, a bood'n-bood'n car. Still love to own one. What an epic idea, it's absolutely gorgeous brother.

Wow that brings back memories. My mom had a Firebird that looked just like that (of course it was just stock). Got wrecked when someone ran her off the road driving on the wrong side of the road. The kids on the bus used to always tell me how cool my mom's car was.

Mark the day Kenfolk, not only have we finally gotten a Kentucky Kustoms video but the Bandit is finally finished

I want to see it parked next to @DemolitionRanch Cuda!
And need Donut to get the police interceptor done

It looks like a remote control car. If you put a whip on it would top it off.
Put a CB radio with a whip antenna on the trunk like the Bandit had.
