It seems like that track in Houston is SH*T!
Got mine!
Totally called the “connect four”
Just cannot get more real than hearing the screams of a wife/girlfriend. Brings reality full circle when it comes to life and death. Especially to see your first wreck watching a loved one in one of these high powered masterpieces. Good editing, and keeping it real....
Always Awesome 1320.
This event needs to follow in the footsteps of WCF... Penalize the class that is consistently causing track clean-ups and shut downs, not the classes that have their ducks in a row and ready to race. ALL classes, whether goofy ass roll races or not, need to be within NHRA licensing and safety standards. Everything should be even across the board for safety. Makes zero sense to let the millionaire with 15 total minutes of seat time run 230mph with no chutes, but turn away racers with an NHRA certified chassis for not having a hood.
Heat in the motors!
this year TX2K really messed up the event for a lot of professional drivers! I feel bad for all the people who drove 1000's of miles only to get told you get 1 qualifying run because they let a bunch of morons go first and cause wreck after wreck after wreck!
A catchpan should be a mandatory thing
@@quartermilefreaks It was supposed to be. They announced it last year. They made a huge deal out of a privateer guy in a Mustang who had an issue and had taken the effort to install a belly pan and who was the ONLY mfer to not oil down the entire track. Then they didn't enforce anything and the event was yet another shitshow. I'm done wasting my money with these people.
No matter what a lot of these things are ticking time bombs, they are making 10+hp per ci. That’s insane

Carnage for the ages this year, damn.
2:10 crazy as hell seeing the wall move like that.
yeah dude can't drive for shit
I couldn't run with no hood this weekend but watched guys go up to 200-233 with no chute or cage in alot of circumstances and after driving 1200 miles to get there this place is ran like a joke now. . mind you I have a chute and full certified cage..the hood is what they thought was more important.. tx2k was a joke this year some of my buddies who also drive 1000+mi didn't even get to compete because they had no time for all their qualified runs from All the crashes and oil downs from inexperienced guys with more money and hp than talent or common sense.. they lost ALOT of support this year I haven't talked to anyone who was happy with the event yet.. absolutely a joke ..and the only people with anything positive to say weren't racing at all so they got zero idea how bad it really was
I know a couple Porsche guys that will not ever go back, along with a few GTR guys as well. The issue is 2K sells it as 5 qualifiers, most racers want a min of 3. Not two. The issue is you need of a off the trailer hit, thats almost always a throw away. Then on the days you qaul twice in one day you can really dial in a proper tune. The others are just house money, most don't even run. But only two qualifiers, one separate days? Come on, thats a kick in the nuts. They need to run separate week ends for the roll guys and the drag guys. Too much shit stuffed in the bag at this point. By the time elims for drag racing start the track is do beat up the tunes you qualified with are useless.
that definitely sucks man sorry you couldn't run, but you gotta read the rules before any event imo.
@@callen2011 you clearly don’t understand the meaning of his comment if that’s the response you have
Should have checked the rules before driving so far. That's on you for showing up without a hood lmao
@@nicdonegan9804 i imagine he's mainly pointing out people running without cages, and chutes, and i'm not able to verify that, i do think the hood rule is retarded, and it's pretty unfair that he couldn't run without one, iirc cleetus ran with a cardboard hood last year... so yea i agree with that, and i'm ignoring the part i can't speak of :/
Man who would have thought that letting people drive cars with 4 digit HP numbers and no NHRA license would go badly? Weird.
Pretty much the point everyone has brought up, more money and hp than skill and critical thinking ability. Not a lot of happy people at the event this year
You don't need an nhra? Holy shit.
@@bokeyperformance4957 Yeah that's what freaked me out too. Even open track days will flag you down and prevent you from making further runs if you start breaking a certain time threshold without proper clearance. It's been 4 years since I last read up on it so I forget what it was.
NHRA license lmao.... when these cars can easily make over 1k with barely any boost. Don't blame the drivers the car manufactures charge a hefty price to get these lambos/r8/gtrs. Especially now days. Can you imagine how worse the world would be if you needed a NHRA license for 1000HP.
Most of these cars aren’t tested on track either. They get Dyno tuned make a huge number and then they just send it and this is the result.
The way that r8 whips back around near the 20:20 mark is crazy. Turns 90 degrees from a standstill
I have never seen this much carnage in such a short amount of time, I ain't gone lie that RIGHT LANE IS SKETCHY AS HELL 😳😳
Yup, this was my prediction since I saw which track they were gonna use.
"Hey guize, we usually drive these 3000hp monsters on 3 mile long runways, but this time, let's just do it at a regular 1/4 mile strip." Who thought that was a good idea? How many people ran into the sandtraps already? How many cars with no cages and no parachutes? This event was powerfully idiotic.
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense to me that a lot of these guys are running 200+ mph with no parachute. Seems pretty stupid to me.
This place lets you run 230 with no chute or cage but how dare you show up with no hood!?!?!??
Hey as long as you have a hood, it’s all good. Ridiculous rules for this event.
Yes safety should be first concern...mornonic to think not having a roll bar, halo or any of that with a bunch of rich rookies is absolutely ridiculous...
Look Baytown is a great track nhra is held here so shut up about the speed but I agree they need full parachute and cage the hood thing is stupid but whatever. This was a issue with tx2k rules not Baytown. Baytown is a great track and they prep very well

I’ve never watched a drag race in my life. This was fascinating. I love the colours and stylings of the cars, and I love the horsepower and torque, and I love the speed and randomized/managed risk.
from a spectator standpoint, this is great. if i was competing, id be pissed too
My takeaway from this video........ Just because you can afford the car and the mods, does not mean you should be on track.
Some people are made to race and some made to watch. You should know the difference. Many an idiot driver tore my car up during my dirt track career. Guess it's the price you pay.
Finally someone not blaming the track.
WHO IS THE GENIOUS LETTING EVERYONE GO THAT FAST WITH NO PARACHUTES?
Probably the same maroon that feels hoods are vital safety item at this event.
@@95redz TX2K has been getting bigger and better. And this year they turned it into a complete shit show! Letting people drive 230+ MPH with no cage or chutes?! Letting all these inexperienced drivers crash and preventing the professional drivers from competing... At least have these speed demons go AFTER the professionals!
Or ya know first come first serve
For real. 7 second car with no parachutes is just crazy. This track has a shorter runout than most too.
Genius with a capital J.
The Officials didn't have the proper regulations in place for the roll race cars plain and simple. There was an oil down every 3-4 runs and sadly multiple wrecks. 1.49 shows fluids getting under the tires and causing a wreck.
Tx2k is an amazing event and I highly recommend going, but if they can't tell these guys to put a $100 Diaper on a $100,000+ roll race car like all the other racers had to do, it will continue to cause problems.
These videos are helping so much while quitting nicotine. Cheers!!
The exotics need to go AFTER everyone else. They aren't built for drag racing like they should be and end up causing the vast majority of delays.
could not agree more. seems like they have no business being on a drag strip.
A bunch of rich guys with no chutes or cages driving too fast ruined this event for a lot of great drivers! The car crash spectacle should have been held AFTER all the real racers have gone!
At LEAST the GTR's. For some reason (to me at least) it looks mostly like it's the GTR's crashing, blowing up, and causing issues, I wonder just how hard they're trying to push those cars for them to be regularly having issues...
Let them drag race against some fighter jets on airstrip i say
@@GsEmoover it's the hypercar scene, R8s crashing just as often. They should have a separate event for the hypercars, especially when they're mostly there for the roll racing anyway
I think parachutes need to be a requirement for these cars... Pulling the shoot could help keep the car from going into the wall, and at 200 mph that seems like a no-brainer.
Most cars did have a chute.
It’s only a requirement if you can hit 150mph in the 1/4.
Dual chutes are a requirement at 200mph in the 1/4.
It's ridiculous to me if it's not a requirement.
@@thetalesofdaneandco - I don’t think the rules for roll racers are the same as drag so they don’t have to have chutes or cages.
Should be the same IMO.
135mph+ cage required, 170+ single chute, 200+ double chutes. Pretty common sense tbh with current nhra rules
If the rules for the drag cars are there to save the driver in the event of a 150mph+ crash then the same safety measures should be enforced for every racer doing those speeds no matter what they are doing.
i remember getting interested in drag racing like this specifically because of TX2k14. Never got into the hobby personally just a viewer but im glad its still going.
Awesome coverage as always!
When guys go from a 9AM qualifying time to getting a first hit in at 5, you know you have racers who should have to get a license and not a bank card to race.
The track temperature and prep changes way too much in that amount of time. You basically got two different tracks between qualifying and the final run.
This year 2K was more like the GTR Oildown Nationals

All these top speed runs need to be held at a totally different event or after the drag cars are able to complete their qualifiers properly.
Best comment. This drag strip is not built for supercar roll racing and these "supercars", are very unstable at high speed braking.

easier than that just let the people with skills rather than large cheque books run first
@@getinit56 roll racing? I'm pretty sure I watched drag racing. You go zero to whatever you can in 1-4 mile. Lol like others have said top fuel 200 mph plus cars race here.
@@Ryan-re1rs Roll racing is about all these so called super cars are fit for. My comment, nor the one I was commenting about, has anything to do with the track. Of course a drag strip has cars run faster. The point was these "supercars", most of the time are roll racing, on tracks or airstrip a lot longer than this track. Very few of them are caged and many of them get unstable as hell, trying to get slowed down at the end of the run. I think that was pretty obvious from the results.
I love seeing people learn why professional drag racers with 3,000+ horsepower DONT do it with stock chassis cars.
It's almost like drag racers running very comprehensive cages, multiple parachutes, fire suppression systems and bellypans despite the huge weight penalty do it all for a reason or something

That white GTR was pushed back at the start line before the crash, the track was mopped and the car was allowed to run, it was obvious something was leaking so how the hell it was allowed to run is unbelievable.
Never seen a wall move like that either, if I was there I think I would have gone home at that point as the track safety clearly isn’t up to scratch.
I'd rather see the wall move, that means it's absorbing some of the impact. A Totally solid wall would be much more dangerous cos it would just pinball cars from side to side.
None of these crashes appear to have been caused by a lack of track safety. More like a lack of Driving talent in most cases, the others were mechanical failures......
Some of these guys have got their cars running so close to the edge of what is possible, but don't seem to have the experience behind the wheel to control all that power......
@@nickmaclachlan5178 ok I see your point about the wall, maybe some movement is good
with regards to the other issues, all these cars have to pass tech and there was so many issues which could have been avoided, cars leaking on the start line, like the white GTR, which were spotted, pushed back then immediately allowed to run. That should never happen.
Cars smoking on the start line then piling down the whole track, cars running 200+ without chutes…
I get that people are pushing stuff hard but what happened this weekend, on all three days, is going to get someone killed.
@@robin_marriott Totally agree with the leaking and smoking, this is mainly guys pushing kit harder than it can be pushed. Until they make catch trays and oil diapers mandatory this will keep happening.
What a crazy video. Thanks so much for filming this! 😁
Always loved the red demon. Crazy he brings a 4 cylinder and gets 200mph with low 7s.
That right lane was super slick
23:35 your reaction was absolutely priceless 🤣🤘
As much as I enjoy watching millionaires destroy their supercars, this event needs a serious rethink.
Why? You think these guys wouldn't have crashed somewhere else or should racing not be allowed.
@@Ryan-re1rs no I think he means that’s what millionaires get for putting 200k in their cars and 0 hours behind the wheel they look like a bunch of headless chickens
Ah yes, hating on the "millionaires". I sure hope you never become that which you hate.
you are the definition of jealousy. Litteraly.
@@hi_c.v7289 but most of the drivers are professional drivers lol even the ones that wrecked. Shit just happens sometimes
Those lanes took an absolute beating
The clear tape on the front trunk at 16:09 just shows that that car is FAST
Gtr's active weight management is an interesting feature
