Doctor of the shave, I learned so much about shaving watching you a long time ago. Nice to see you still doing well. Building that lather is king.
I bought a 34c after your recommendation. It’s awesome and I’ve been using it for about 5 years now. 1000-1500 uses and it still looks like new!
Most of the DE razors are so good quality, they can survive a nuclear fallout...
Wow - Jefferson got huge! He is really cute. I am glad you are able to be active on your channel again NIck. You were the one who got me into wet shaving.
Let's see if he can get the entire group of orthopedists at HSS In NYC into wetshaving so that they all have their own channels and we can ask them about our sciatica!
This is what I lovingly refer to as the "gateway drug" razor... I picked one up on impulse two months ago and immediately noticed a huge improvement in my shaving results. Now I have at least ten razors, a half dozen brushes, a dozen soaps, tons of splashes, balms, etc. and there appears to be no end in sight. Despite a brand new Rex Ambassador, I with the Wilkinson Sword razor today just for the nostalgia. Or something. :)
I'm 77, but it's still fun to see your episodes and to experiment with different razors. I have a 1952 Gillette, the one I learned on, but my favorite, to this date, is Murkur. Good luck with your shaving adventures. Thanks for all the information.
Nick, good to see you! You always inspire me and although I am not a doctor you make me want to be a better person in my field of work, software development. I've been watching you for a long time and want to thank you for being who you are!
I know I am not the only one to see you upload on a regular schedule again! Always a pleasure watching your videos. Cheers!
Really good to see you back Nick
Great shave! Jefferson's a beautiful dog! Glad you're back on UA-cam!
Welcome back Nick, glad I kept following your channel, I love Thayer Witch Hazel and Nivea for Sensitive Skin too.
Glad to see you back Doc!
great to see you back Nick!
Great to see you back! Caught your last couple videos as well. Literally the first channel I ever subscribed to and created an account to do so with.
Hi Nick. Loved this video. I am really pleased you are back in the saddle🙂. I have just started my own channel and posted my first video. Your beginner series started me off with DE shaving and I mention you in my video along with other well known shave channels. Keep your videos coming, you are one of the UA-camrs that inspired me to start my own channel.
Another great review, Nick. Thanks for sharing the video!
I’m glad to see you back. I got started wet shaving by watching your videos.
Hi Nick. Really enjoyed it. I picked up that razor about six months ago and liked it right away. And like you said the price is right. I always try to make it a point to keep my hands dry with any razor reguardless of the knurling. No real slipping that way. Thanks for the video.👍
New York!!!? Greetings from Chicago! 20 degrees here right now. Haven't perused the shaving channels for awhile. Glad to see you're still around.
Nice video Nick. Great dog, nice to see you're back and making videos.
I bought one of these for travel since it's easy to replace at the local Walmart if I lose or damage it. Pretty happy with it.
Awesome dog. Protects your boy. 💪
Thanks for your time.
My man has a jaw chiseled by gods out of an entire mountain
So good to have you making videos again. You’ve inspired so many people including myself to start our own shaving channels. Welcome back!!
Thanks man! I’m happy to see all of the wet shaving channels out there. I’ll sub to you now!
Outstanding. The dog and baby were awesome. Welcome to the fatherhood club.
Keep it up man! Was the first video I ever watched. The way you shave is an absolute art! 🔥
Welcome back to UA-cam. I hope the Big Apple is treating you and your family well. I’ve used the Wilkinson Sword razor for a couple of weeks now. It’s a good razor in my opinion.
Awesome shave thanks for reviewing that razor... I'll recommend that to some newbies...
Glad your back
Good to see you again nick total legend ♥️👍
Ordered the shave soap, thanks for the suggestion
Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱. Haven’t watched you in a while used to watch your vids a lot when I started shaving years ago. Learned a lot from you. Even a 47yr guy needs to learn new things every now and then. Was curious about this razor just for fun to buy on Amazon and there’s no one I trust more for an honest opinion. Best to you an the family and hope all of you and the nice dog are doing well
Excellent review Sir. 👍🏻
The little interruptions made for some light hearted and well received amusement too.😎👌🏻
I’ve had the WS safety razor for over a year now, it’s an amazing shave and a nice throwback touch
BTW , your hair looks great bro 👌🏻
I’m glad you kept all the dad life footage in there. I can definitely identify with that, trying to get something done while the kid is napping.
I am fan of your videos! I've bought this razor in the last month. This classic line from Wilkinson Sword has nice products! Brush, soap and aftershave balm from this line are also pretty good! They are all more low budget products, pretty cheap, but pretty good!
And Jefferson is awesome! That little guy looks adorable! Greetings from Brazil! 👍
Wow! Jefferson!!! He id get big lol! What a great shave Nick. Keep the videos and reviews coming!!!!
I bought this razor long time ago and it's still great for me!
We’ve missed you! Welcome back. There are TONS of products waiting for your review.
I watched this vid and purchased the razor and am so happy with it I do use R41 and R89 so I was so pleased not to cut my self I even like the blades thanks Nick
Jefferson is a big boy now. Glad to see that he is doing alright.
Just a reminder: with TTO or butterfly razors, always remember to tighten it before each pass, they can loosen a little and that can give you irritation or unwanted pull or bite.
Glad to see you back! You should feature a Stirling soap and aftershave soon! They are one of the best soap maker out there and the best "bang for your buck"
drunkn711 With this razor it doesn’t matter what you do, it still nips and pull and brushes against your face. Very poor razor. There are better TTO razors out there.
I don't mind the interruptions, shows that your channel is more to life. Love it.
Dog steals the show!
After the Gillett debacle I dumped both the razors of theirs and treated myself a Wilkinson Sword Classic undoubtedly the best razor I have ever owned.
Been waiting for this one.
Awesome to have you back, Dr. Nick! Great video as always. I never had luck with Wilkinson Sword blades, always caused mucho irritation, especially on my neck. I would love to see your thoughts on the Edwin Jagger 3one6 SS razor. Thanks Nick!
I have this razor. It was my first safety razor. I think it is milder than my Parker 87R. It is a great razor.
I wish that someone would talk more about handle length. It is one of the great unsaid of wet shaving.
I would agree on those Wilkinson Sword Blades. I used them in my Merkur 34C and found they started to bite a lot in the neck area. Also, would like to see you try A&E’s SoCal Hipster Soap in a future video. Awesome soap, smells amazing and performs well.
Cute dog :) Awesome shave video. Very informative
Hey Nick just discovered you! Great videos man I subscribed. 👍🏻
Tomorrow I'll be using the Catie's Bubbles Le Piment de La Vie Luxury Cream from the 2015 era. Possibly my favorite shaving soap in my entire collection and I pair it with the high end Creed Royal Oud cologne (actually it's an eau de parfum strength). So glad Nick Shaves came back.
Just started getting back into safety razor shaving again. Personally I like it a lot. I've got one of the wilkinson sword black 3 piece razors (where the top pops off) it's small, maybe a bit small for my tastes, but works great.
Beautiful golden doodle. Thanks for taking a moment to show him off a bit.
Soak a badger or boar brush in a 10% peroxide 90% water, overnight. This isn't strong enough to remove color, but seriously reduces the aroma.
I prefer the TTO razor as well,. I twist open a little when rinsing, as this gets all the stubble and soap out. Tighten back up, keep going.
Thanks for covering this razor. Most UA-camrs show razors I'd never spend that much money on. This one is one most could buy and use. And as a mid aggressive, it could be a daily shaver.
I recommend Feather blades. Yes, they are considered one of the sharpest blades available. You're shaving to cut hair, not tug and pull hair. In a mild to medium razor, with a lite touch, they cannot be beaten for the smooth shave, in less passes, and lack of iteration from grabbing hair instead of cutting it.
Desided to try one of these cause of this review and the razer ate my face
Great review!
Came to see the wilkinson sword safety razor, left my like for the dog!
Hey big guy! Good to see you again!
I hope you can try out and give a review of Timor blades!
Cheers and have a good one!
I have two Merkur razors, a 23c and a 34c and a Rockwell 6S. All 3 razors are awesome! Wet shaving is the best!
Those are all of the razors you need! If I had to pick 2, I’d keep my 34c and grandfathers Gillette super speed
Друг с возвращением.
Thanks Nick. Good to see that jar from 2014 still giving you great shaves! Shoot me an email if you want to try one of the newer formulations.
I bought one and performed one shave, it’s mild but very good. It takes 3 passes. It’s well made, heavy and beautifully chromed. You can get a Shavette in the range too. It’s like the Gillette TTO from the 60s, my dad had one. For a beginner it’s a very good price and with a Palmolive soap stick and a €5 Omega boar brush you’re in DE land for less than €25!
I’m selling it again now and I bought a Muhle R94 Rocco and a Fatip slant!
Nice video Nick
great video and jesus this guy won the hair genetics lottery
Mam you sound always pretty good ,like a teacher
Well done 👍🏼
Omg Jefferson. Drive him up to Kensico Dam sometime for a walk, great spot not too far out of NYC!
I bought the razor just to try my first twist to open. I used an Astra blade (1st use). I felt a hollow chatter to the blade which wasn't too comfortable, and haven't used it since. I think I will try it with a known sharper blade next time.
I'm still chuckling at wearing a shirt while shaving....No way on my part. I'd destroy it. hahaha. Good video Nick!
Any clarifying shampoo can be used to get rid of the wet badger smell. It is also good for rejuvenating a brush with soap scum build up
I have this razor and defo find it a high medium aggressiveness for me. She can bite!
Great Video 💈Nick..last time I used Wilkinson Sword was when I came to Canada 1997 long-standing brand and it’s alright for starting in wet shaving...
Take care
Alan
P.S still waiting to get Karve Razor Polished Stainless Steel and You have to Try “Semois Valley” Soap from Karve Very nice I heard 👍🏼💈
I have that razor Nick and it’s quite mild, I tried it with the supplied blades and they belt a little bit rough compared to my normal Gillette silver blues which were fine in it
This looks awesome, I have the Wilkinson Classic, it looks the same except it's plastic and lacks that fantastic opening mechanism. Also metal looks much better.
Just in time...I bought this razor yesterday :-)
I really like this razor, my favourite blade out of all the ones I tested in this razor are the Gillette Nacets. They provide a really good shave and I manage to get upto 10 great shaves before the performance drops, my second favourite is probably shark platinum followed Gillette permasharps but both of those only last 4-5 shaves and are on par with cost.
I only have one other razor though, The Lord L6, I find this is better if I've gone a few days without a shave, it cuts through longer hairs where the Wilkinson Sword classic premium struggles. Its a more aggressive razor then the Wilkinson Sword, you can actually feel the blade with the Lord L6. The Wilkinson sword feels super smooth and is also less prone to nicks, the Wilkinson is my daily and the Lord L6 is my goto when I've not shaved for a few days. I'm attempting to use the L6 a bit more to hone my skill a bit but it feels super close and I've still not perfected using it or found the best blade to fit the aggression (my comfort blades tend to pull in this razor).
Nice video!! Awesome 👍 👍
This was my first DE razor, my intro into the world of wet shaving.
Loved the review. Good job dad! A dog and a child in a small New York apartment! You are dedicated to making these videos. Its a more expensive razor but what about the Rex Ambassador?
Great looking dog
Good shave video as always
Welcome back
This was my first razor
I don't think I've seen you review the Rex Ambassador adjustable stainless steel razor yet. If you haven't had the opportunity to use one, I can attest that they are on a different level. The Timeless razor with the .95mm gap is also worth a try. It also is on a different level. Excellent video, as always and thanks for the info.
I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that razor next time I go into target. Nice shave!
Shootin The Shave If you live in London, I’ll give you mine. I used it once and hated it like no other razor that I had used. Terrible razor. If have Barbarcide just dip any razor into it and it will disinfect it.
Vigilius Londinium: Thank you for the offer. Unfortunately I don’t live in the UK. I live in The US. I appreciate the offer. Have a great day and wonderful week! Cheers!
After watching your video I bought this Wilkinson Sword Safety Razor! Thanks for the video, I like the butterfly feature on it. Have you ever tried using the Merkur Super Platinum blades before? Given how expensive they are, I was wondering your opinion on them? Thanks again, and looking forward to the next video!
Fantastic brush, especially the handle. Where did you find it?
Can you please try the lord safety razor?
Everyone seems to hate those blades in Italy, but they're the some of the few ones that give me a perfectly smooth shave, with a tame razor like the EJ Kelvin. No cuts, no irritation. They all must have the blade angle wrong.
Everyone also reacts to blades differently. That’s why you have to see what works for your skin!
Hey Nick, I bought the Pre de Provence No. 63 shaving soap and it is loose in the tin. How do I maintain the soap and keep it from getting gooey and slimy from water getting underneath the soap? Do I lather in the tin? Or out?any idea how to care for soap pucks like this?
It smells amazing btw, you are 100% RIGHT
If possible, use Edwin jagger de89 on one of your upcoming videos please.
Thanks for the video. Please, review the following DE blade: Gillette Nacet. Thanks again.
with so many great products out there now, why you always use nivea balm? also same question goes for aftershaves
It's really curious to me: how would perform cheap disposable 1-blade Bic Metal to standard safety razor like 34c or this Wilkinson. It's also 1 blade, but what the difference?
BTW, I'm looking to buy a proper safety razor, but now I'm learning from your advices with cheap 1-blade Bic.
Hi there, I've enjoyed watching all your videos and thank you for the good insight to shaving. I am switching over from using disposable. please can you tell me right off ! out of all your shaving trails- what razor will give me the best and closest shave ? what razor blade would you rate the closest sharpest shave? also- if I bought the Wilkinson Sword Classic Double Edge Safety razor- would these blades fit into razor ? Feather +
Blade: Gillette 7 oclock> or would i have to buy he actual manufacture of razor to match the blades ?
Hi Nick, check out C.O. Bigelow in Manhattan, they carry all Proraso products there. Wilkinson Sword blades are not good for me either.
I've got the old black plastic Wilkinson Sword classic, not sure if I should upgrade to this new tto one. Anyone got any advice?
Are you still using that double edge safety razor Wilkinson sword
How's the aggressiveness of the razor? Looks nice for a cheapo. FYI I have a 1967 black Super Speed. It's mild.
Can you recommend a brush, blades and razor for someone like me who has never used a safety razor? I wet shave with disposables but would like to do it like this but there is *so* much product out there I am confused. Thanks :) ps I'm in England so I may not be able to get anything you suggest
I hv same. Bought them for Rs985 in Mauritius at winners supermarket. But cant find the blades for replacement!
This is my razor, excellent value. Wilkinson Sword's shaving soap is also good.
I'm in the UK so can pick up razor, blades and soaps in most medium/large pharmacies.
