I put high strength rubbing alcohol in a bottle and spray the bed. Baking soda leaves residue, in my opinion. Even if you use a vacuum. Rubbing alcohol kills most or all insects, germs,, and evaporates. Sure, vacuum if you want too. Results: squeaky clean.

Keeping a waterproof mattress pad on the bed would help keep the mattress free from sweat, dirt, etc. 😉

I like to put the chunks in between my beef curtains and crush them that way. 🙃
You need to have a mattress topper/cover as well to avoid those stains in the future.
I had a mattress cover once, but I had to take it off. The material was not breathable at all (to make it spill resistant) and it would cause me to wake up very hot and sweaty. It was also just very uncomfortable in general - it felt like I was rolling around on trash bags (under my sheets.) 😅 Maybe they make some that are a different material that wouldn't cause this issue, but I doubt it could be spill resistant and still be breathable and not disturb my comfort at the same time. But even if it's not spill resistant, I suppose it could have other functions like keeping the dead skill cells and dirt from ever touching your mattress. If you know of a good brand suggestion, I'd love to know! 🙂
@@chibitori Sorry to read that. I live in UK and either i use Habitat or Dunelm Mill brand. At least it can be washed along with the bed linen.
Bed linner I use, easy and washable...works great, but love this idea for my vehicle I smoke in! Thank you so much!
NEXT TIME dust with Diatomaceous Earth (DE) to kill Dust mites too! 🙂
Alternate between baking soda & DE or combine them then dust or sift together over the bed. (when you took a big sniff of the mattress, all i could imagine was all the dust mites, dead skin & powder going up your nose)
Also, you can add a few drops of your favorite scent or Essential Oil the Baking Soda (in a seperate container from the whole bag) to keep your mattress smelling nice.

Change you sheets and wash them every week, wash the mattress cover every two weeks. Sprinkle backing soda on your mattress every month, let it set then vacuum.
place a mattress protection on before the sheets...less smell into the mattress also.

A fitted mattress protector, they come in waterproof too. Similar to the fitted mattress sheet but the top is lightly padded & behind that it's waterproof. I even bleach it sometimes. Chuck that in machine and put out on sunny day. So lovely and fresh smelling under the newly made bedding. You can also get pillow protectors. Great for humid climates.
I have a cooling gel mattress cover from Columbia Sportswear. Nice and thick and really cools.
I have a bambo one but sleeps too hot. The minute I took it off blood cat vomit and cat urine immersed I was so mad cause it’s never been the same. Ugh bout to try the alcohol and baking soda trick

I tried this same method before but it didn’t work for me. I guess it must depend on the kind of vacuum cleaner you have. I was happily vacuuming up the baking soda, focused intently on getting it all off of the mattress, but I did not realize that the baking soda was so fine, it was just blowing out of the back of my vacuum cleaner . It covered the floor, walls, and ceiling with a fine covering. That was a bigger job to clean. My son had to take my vacuum cleaner apart and do a deep clean of that as well, as it was covered in baking soda in the interior. The kind of vacuum cleaner I have is a canister one. By the way, I really appreciate your channel…lots of good ideas. Thanks!

This is what a mattress pad is for:
you may not be able to "throw the mattress in the washing machine," but you can a mattress pad! Wash it about once a year. Your mattress will never stink/ absorb odors again
I wanted to cry when I checked the tag on mine and it said surface wash only 🤔
How is that true unless you have some liquid impenetrable material anyone who sweats at all will still get the bed nasty over time
@@ykonratev TRUE, but between the barrier of both your sheets AND a mattress pad, it's pretty darn hard to soil the mattress. Esp if you change your sheets & wash your mattress pad on a regular basis. But I pointed this out only because as you can see in the video, he clearly doesn't use a mattress pad. And that's just....EW.

Been going through your videos tonight. Im looking for a tip on how to remove stains on a mattress. Our dog had surgery couple weeks ago, and accidentally peed in the bed. We noticed very quickly and removed the comforter, sheets and what I thought was a mattress protector, but it did not protect. Luckily, not a lot had a chance to go through. So I blotted dry and then scrubed as much as I could. Left baking soda for the rest of the day. It doesn't smell. But it left a huge orange contour stain. I hate it. I know you can't see it after the bed is made. But I know it's there. And will be reminded everytime I changed my sheets. Any tips?
Hi there, my best recommendation to you is to use a bath towel right after this happens. All you have to do is fold your towel and press down on the entire area as much as you can and hold down the towel for about 5 seconds and lift it slowly. Repeat this same process as many times as needed and try to hold the towel pressed down for longer periods as well. This will absorb most of it. Right after this, spread some baking soda on the affected area, this will help absorb even more and will definitely help you reduce the future smell. Just keep in mind that you may need to pick up or vacuum the baking soda if this one is starting to look wet, then you can put more baking soda as needed... I will recommend you to wait until the affected area is completely dry and then, you can proceed to spot clean... I HAVE OVER 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE CLEANING INDUSTRY AND I HAVE MY COMMERCIAL CLEANING COMPANY IN DALLAS TEXAS...

Yes that is what I did. Let the baking soda sit on the mattress for a few hours before you vacuum it though

This is more for those deep cleanings or the once a year spring cleanings.
You're missing the point. Your dead skin cells come off due to friction with your bedding. Dust mites and other microbes then feed off those.
Doing this is good hygiene. That is not time wasted.
