I've been preaching for so long that when people say they don't like country music after listening to bands like Florida Georgia Line that they're simply listening to the wrong kind! I was raised on classic country and a great country song can be a balm to the soul.
Country music is no different than rock or folk or any other genre; it has many faces and many voices that appeal to many different people. There is tremendous breadth to "country." Much of it is popular beyond the reach of country radio stations, and that has always been true.
The world is too loud, and Chris Stapleton seems to get that. He's cool letting the empty spaces be empty, and Morgane flutters through those spaces like a buttefly, touching down ever so lightly here and there. They obviously adore each other. It's really very sweet!
One of my favorite things in life is watching non-country fans react to Chris Stapleton songs on YT. It's always entertaining and fulfilling. He really does transcend genres.

Man sometimes my intentions are to just listen to it in the background.. next thing you know I’m crying next to the speaker. Spiritual music touches you whether you asked it to or not.
All due respect, I can't think of a background/harmony singer these days who gets more credit than Morgane does and, justifiably so. She is as good as it gets and fits Chris' music like a glove.
My understanding is that she also doesn't want a lot of credit, in the sense that she apparently has major stage fright. I imagine being part of a duo or a group suits her just fine. She does sound incredible!
What are some of your favorites? This and mac miller are my top 2. Different genres but ive been a mac miller fan for YEARS and his tiny desk performance about a month before his death really hit hard.
Chris is technically country but he has more blues and soul than anyone in the industry by far. He's restored my faith in this genre that had been dying for over a decade. I hope he can set future country artists back on the right track.
Chris tops them all but also check out Tyler Childers, Whiskey Myers, Jamie Johnson, Uncle Lucius... When I listen to country these guys are what I think of.
This song is written, almost to the letter, of the painful life my husband and his father went through with his mother, my mother in law. She struggled with bipolar disorder and attempted several times to make all of her suffering stop; she felt she was a burden to us. She could not have been more wrong. However, on June 26, 2006, she 'fired away'; one gunshot wound ended her suffering, not knowing that our suffering would endure. Only 7 1/2 years to the day later, on December 26, 2013, my father in law's suffering from her loss ended when he passed from cancer. My husband struggles DAILY with the loss of both of his parents. Mr. Stapleton, if you should ever read this, please know that you music brought my husband to tears. He has stated many times that your music gives him hope and that "real country music lies within Chris Stapleton." Please continue making music, knowing that you are impacting the lives of many. Some are closer to home than others. May God Bless You and Keep You.

Okay. It should be a crime be this talented. Both of their voices... perfection.
Why does this music just give me the biggest lump in my throat ever. Hows it possible to be sad and happy all at the same time. First time hearing the second track and I love it.
I love how much they love each other ! She looks like she wants to cry when he sings the line "when I leave this earth you'll be holding my hand " . So sweet .
@@Kruc101 Yessir! If you like this kind of country with great lyrics, I’d highly recommend Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers. These guys, along with Stapleton are amazing songwriters in the country scene. Jason Isbell too, he’s more of a songwriter though
How is there not like One Zillion, 45 Million plus 5 views on this? I often hear it said that Chris will be the savior of country music...I agree. He has broken any genre barrier and is a force like no other I have ever heard.

I know one thing, his slow songs ALWAYS makes me cry! It never fails. No matter how many times I’ve heard them they bring tears. He sings with every inch of his soul. His wife has such a beautiful voice that just blends so perfectly with his. I could listen to this soul touching music all day long! Love it! ❤️

Many more continued blessings to Chris and Morgane Stapleton plus their five little children that are so precious!!!!

Chris Stapleton is my favorite and the most real country singer since Willie, Waylon, Merle and Johnny. God bless you and your wife Chris. Thank you for the real music.

First time I have heard him sing. Where the hell have I been? This guy is immediately one of my favorites, both for lyrics and for his singing. Wow! Glad I happened along.
There are maybe 8 or 10 people/groups on earth I remember discovering and immediately knowing I'd be listening to them forever. Chris last year, is the most recent addition
I love country music and i am a black chick reason being i grew up with it. In my house Willie played beside Cash, Rambos etc. When people say things like Chris is bringing back proper country i smile because every music genre grows and changes i personally don't feel much passion for what i call pop country some tracks are ok but country cant stand still i am glad that we are getting back to real songwriters again that make you feel something when they sing. There is one thing that i hope country does not get rid of and that's real love songs not just the mush of love but also the heartbreak nothing does that better than country.
+Claudia Bailey Where are the black chicks in country music? I love Mickey Guyton's Better Than You Left Me. She writes & sings traditional country. I just hope country radio embraces her. I mean, they just don't embrace many black singers & it's ridiculous. I'm so sick of slick, generic pop country overall. Even Miranda gets "pop" at times. I guess Chris is gonna have to lead the charge & save country!!!
+markmiz88 There are some around they just don't play them on radio. I love RAY SCOTT, too. Lance Miller. They're both great. Chris released a single 2 yrs ago called "What Are You Listening To?"-great song-just went to #46 on the charts! Now he has like 5 songs on the charts! CMA's kicked his career into gear & the voters on the CMA panel finally got together & rewarded someone w/no top 40 hits as of yet! AMEN!
+Claudia Bailey I have always LOVED Willie Nelson and Ray Charles' version of Seven Spanish Angels. There was a time when music was just music before corporations got involved and started labelling everything. Music is the one thing that everyone can understand and share across all boundaries. Peace and Love.
You may like Lindi Ortega, Brett Detar, Shakey Graves, and Shovels and Rope. Americana/country/blues/rock kinda :D Great stuff that you'll probably not hear on the radio anytime too soon, sadly. Also check out Chris's old band The SteelDrivers....REAL country music for sure :D
I wanted to let everyone here know that Chris won Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the CMAs tonight. CONGRATULATIONS! I can't imagine anyone more deserving!
This performance is what turned me into an instant lifelong fan. I find myself coming back to it every so often to try and recapture the feeling of first discovering how absolutely beautifully he and Morgane complement one another.
@@petehoward8494 I am so pleased to have seen others mention them. I love that band, although I'm not convinced that I actually like any of their songs. Rather, its their sound I adore. It is dynamic, complete, and phenomenal live. My single favorite performance of theirs: Red Rocks Midnight in Harlem August 30th 2012
The Elvis of this generation someone who sings for the love of it and you feel it. Amazingly one of a kind greatness that touches the harmony of your soul.
My wife and I have been together 30 years these songs are our lives.just hope she's holding my hand at the end. Chris and Morgan are a very blessed couple
I was so in love with this man's singing that I bought all 4 of his CDs immediately. They are all so easy to listen to because every song is memorable. He has created a style that is unique in my opinion. It sounds like country soul.
Seeing Chris in concert with his gr8 band in Moline in 2023 was one of the best concerts I have ever seen and I'm a life long music lover that just turned 50 on election day. His music is universal and he crosses genres so effortless. It inspires me to learn more guitar and enhance my God given musical skills and brings me a sense of Humanity an Peace. He also encourages so many musicians to be better as he's collaborated with so many different type of artists! Come to Peoria IL or Moline IL or Bloomington IL soon. I know it will sell out all tickets or close to it!
Never heard him before the Superbowl. I'm definitely a fan now. I would've NEVER listened to country before this. Now I wanna explore the whole genre. It's so moving!!!!!
Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson. Those 3 along with stapleton make up some of the best country music put out in a couple decades. and all of them but Isbell (from Alabama) are Kentucky boys.
Actually this genre of music is considered Red Dirt...a form of country yes, but more blues, southern rock, and hillbilly combined. The best artist on the planet are playing there now IMO...it ISN'T sanitized Nashville mainstream country and is becoming more popular by the year. Check out the Red Dirt channel on Spotify... great songs being played daily.
A cowboy hat and a guitar are only the surface of the man. The richest experiences are revealed in the thoughts and music we are blessed to hear in his presence. No category can contain his gifts.
So many groups on NPR tiny desk put on a big production, lots of instruments, weird sounds, over the top performances just to stand out . . . but Stapleton proves that simple vocal and lyrical talent always win out.
I never liked any country music until Chris Stapleton. His talent is just undeniable and to listen to his music is just pure enjoyment. I'm going to his concert this summer! Mama I'ma country boy!
This is not a joke. I was not a huge fan of Morgane’s. I thought it was more of Paul/Linda thing. Then, I got hearing aids. I’m enjoying these songs all over again with much greater appreciation for Morgane.
At 3:08 he says "When I leave this earth, I'll be holding your hand...." you can see Morgane instantly think about that and man does she look sad. These two are perfect.
I also saw the look on her face. She sort of purses her lips, maybe with the thought "we don't want to think about this." It's incredible the way she looks at him. I'd damn near sell my soul for that.
NPR Music is just one of those internet Gems. I saw this 2- 3 years ago, just surfing for new stuff, and I had never heard of Chris Stapleton. Circling back around, after watching al most everything CS out there. It's just amazing how much joy and happiness UA-cam music offers.
Just watched this tiny desk concert, been a Stapleton lover for more than a decade. The Steeldrivers album Reckless really impacted me deeply. Stapleton marries rock, country, R&B, folk, blues and Americana. Seems like I’ve been listening to this all my life! Thanks to my parents who raised me On GOOD music, whatever the genre!❤

I don't know who has more soul in this video. Morgane, Chris, or that old Gibson. This is truly beautiful. And it don't hurt that Chris is an Ol Kentucky Boy!!!
One of these days, I’m going to see a Chris and Morgane Stapleton performance that doesn’t make this grown man cry. This is country, rock and roll, blues, soul, all wrapped up into one. That’s why they are so good. The connection to his music is unavoidable; it just grabs you and bear hugs you and doesn’t let go.

I had the privilege of seeing the in Dublin IRELAND. ... I have been to thousands of concerts... When Chis and Morgana sang more of you my life was complete...
His voice is so melodic. I feel sorry for anyone who tries to cover his music. It’s like blues, blue-grass, country, and gospel all in one lol. Truly amazing. Morgan is just perfect at harmonizing with him ❤️
Ever listened to a song and it hits you right in the feels even though you’re not going through anything related to the lyrics but it still makes you feel some type of way? “Whiskey and You” does that to me every time. Dear Lord, protect this man at all costs.
This man is genuine and the real deal. So many of the current male country singers are just autotune, is it country or quasi rock, posers. This guy reminds me of real, classic country. What a breath of fresh air.
Look there is country..and there is Chris Stapleton..his voice is insanely beautiful. Full of blues and soul he is outstanding! His wifes voice is beautiful also ❤❤

She is a really good backup singer.
I love her voice!
Most singers voices aren't naturally beautiful like his. A gift from our lord
Thats it. I cant keep changing my favorite tiny desk performances!!!!
You didn’t really have a choice with this one
What are some of your favorites? This and mac miller are my top 2. Different genres but ive been a mac miller fan for YEARS and his tiny desk performance about a month before his death really hit hard.
Haha! Yes! Me too!
Same! Currently Maggie Rogers’ is my fav :-)
Tyler Childers and St Paul and pocket change
Chris is technically country but he has more blues and soul than anyone in the industry by far. He's restored my faith in this genre that had been dying for over a decade. I hope he can set future country artists back on the right track.
The roots always come back in vogue eventually
Wrong ,Chris IS music.
You need to check Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Marcus King.
Chris tops them all but also check out Tyler Childers, Whiskey Myers, Jamie Johnson, Uncle Lucius... When I listen to country these guys are what I think of.
Listen to the red dirt country that’s NOT on mainstream radio lol. Ryan Bingham is one of the best.
their voices genuinely prove true love exists, even at a physical level. so beyond beautiful.
When people say they don’t like country... please listen to Chris Stapleton....
Both of their voices... perfection.
The comments seem to indicate the Tiny Desk Concerts and Chris Stapleton attract an intelligent, high quality audience.
Sturgill and Chris are leading the charge of incredible true roots country. Couldn't be more pleased, hopefully more artists will soon follow.
Both are incredible. Also, check out Jason Isbell. Best song writer alive IMO.
Don’t forget Isbell
Random to come back to this video and see Johnny B here!
Crafted Workshop and Cody Jinks
Exactly what happened to me too! Thought I was on one of the regular YT woodworker's vids
Why does this music just give me the biggest lump in my throat ever. Hows it possible to be sad and happy all at the same time. First time hearing the second track and I love it.
I'll be watching this as long as it is posted. Thank God there are some real singer songwriters out there.
I love how much they love each other ! She looks like she wants to cry when he sings the line "when I leave this earth you'll be holding my hand " . So sweet .
@Chris Stapleton cap
I don’t listen to a lot of country but I love this man right here. His voice is soo relaxing and soothing.
I'm no country music fan but this guy is amazing. He's not the glam country you hear polluting the airwaves. This is real music.
If good music was a church, Lord, I think I just got saved. Wow.
Music is my church.
He is truly the best thing to happen to country music in my lifetime
Agreed mate. 🍻🤝
this is country? My favorite artists are Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins.. he is just plain good.
@@Kruc101 Yessir! If you like this kind of country with great lyrics, I’d highly recommend Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers. These guys, along with Stapleton are amazing songwriters in the country scene. Jason Isbell too, he’s more of a songwriter though
Just so true………. Best country artist Chris and Morgan…….. just beautiful. Can listen over and over again!!!!!!!!!
How is there not like One Zillion, 45 Million plus 5 views on this? I often hear it said that Chris will be the savior of country music...I agree. He has broken any genre barrier and is a force like no other I have ever heard.

I swear... If I ever meet a woman that looks at me like that... He is absolutely phenomenal, but she is a million pound diamond.
I showed this video to my best friend and he played more of you at his wedding. Most heart warming feeling imaginable
I swear this guy must hid an amp under his beard. The sheer power of his voice doing so minimal is super impressive. HE IS DEF TOP 5 best singers of all time in my book.
If you have the chance listen to his song “Either Way”, you’ll feel like you’re hanging onto his uvula the way his voice is all around you 😂

I know one thing, his slow songs ALWAYS makes me cry! It never fails. No matter how many times I’ve heard them they bring tears. He sings with every inch of his soul. His wife has such a beautiful voice that just blends so perfectly with his. I could listen to this soul touching music all day long! Love it! ❤️

Some people have addictions. And one of mine is listening to Chris Stapleton.
The more I watch for Chris, the more I get addicted to Morgane.
G. Fraga my daughter asked me if i ever get tired of him, and i made her sit and listen now we both have the same problem
Me too every single day
It's so good I just wanna push my ear buds in farther...
I just spent $300 for 2 front area seats fot his show next October and my friends say im crazy...but i'd pay 1000 to hear yhis man sing while i hold my woman and whisper in her ear
I want someone to look at me the way Morgane looks at Chris. Their voices are so amazing individually, but combined they are absolutely incredible!
Morgane's voice is 50% of this gold. She is amazing and deserves top billing.
Among all the talented world stars in the world I’m happy I’m still here today pushing my career .if you wanna dialogue more my first digit is 616 followed by 675 then 298 and 7.
These two are of the ancients. The very rare, Real People. Beautiful.
The most natural, most talented artist I've ever seen in my 40 years of listening to music! Play on Chris!
He most certainly is one of those generational talents that you don’t see often!!! I’m thankful the Lord let me be here to enjoy his truly God given talents and he has them in abundance!! Many more continued blessings to Chris and Morgane Stapleton plus their five little children that are so precious!!!!
Mate, I'm a true music lover, I have a huge record collection, I'm a musician (as a hobby), and I'm 42. This man is one of the best I've ever heard in my life. Incredible.
Put this on vinyl and take my money.
Yes vinyl please!
it is on vinyl

Chris Stapleton is my favorite and the most real country singer since Willie, Waylon, Merle and Johnny. God bless you and your wife Chris. Thank you for the real music.
The way Morgane looks at her husband when he sings gives me goosebumps.

+beardown2489 ditto, i'd add brandy clark to that list, for me a female CS both amazing singers and even better songwriters
+Victor Edwards check out shakey graves
Already did. Shakey is cool indeed!
+Victor Edwards -- seek out Chris with the Steel Drivers --- simply amazing.
Music has no color. I love it.
Not normally a country music person but, man... you can't deny how good and soulful Chris Stapleton is... what an amazing story teller.
I wanted to let everyone here know that Chris won Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the CMAs tonight. CONGRATULATIONS! I can't imagine anyone more deserving!
This is such gold. Oh my word. And I'm South African but I still appreciate some good country music
Good music is good music. And he makes some of thr best
My son in law Nathi LOVE country even though he was an Afro Jazz vocalist x
For years I've been saying we could do with a good C&W festival in SA - everyone thinks I'm crazy...
Salaams from Kenya, East Africa Nande. No words to describe this. Never heard of Chris before today. Tennessee Whiskey stole my soul. 😍
This performance is what turned me into an instant lifelong fan. I find myself coming back to it every so often to try and recapture the feeling of first discovering how absolutely beautifully he and Morgane complement one another.
I would so love to see him and his wife in person. I am 70. On my bucket list
This man singing with his wife shut down the demons in my head I go to beautiful place I like it there
Jody, watch the Tedeschi Trucks band on youtube, another husband and wife band, and a beautiful place to go visit.
@@petehoward8494 Mind blowing band. Especially the NPR concert
❤❤❤Hey Big Fan ❤❤❤
Seeing Chris in concert with his gr8 band in Moline in 2023 was one of the best concerts I have ever seen and I'm a life long music lover that just turned 50 on election day. His music is universal and he crosses genres so effortless. It inspires me to learn more guitar and enhance my God given musical skills and brings me a sense of Humanity an Peace. He also encourages so many musicians to be better as he's collaborated with so many different type of artists! Come to Peoria IL or Moline IL or Bloomington IL soon. I know it will sell out all tickets or close to it!
there is not ONE song that you can skip with this dude. Every one of them is magical.
That old Gibson sounds delicious complimented by one of the best vocals I've heard.
Man, how true. Its crisp and ripe at the same time...
Yeah the guitar puts out a nice sound and his singing is great too. And hers all of it
Never heard him before the Superbowl. I'm definitely a fan now. I would've NEVER listened to country before this. Now I wanna explore the whole genre. It's so moving!!!!!
Welcome to country music man
Take a listen to Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton. Kenny Rogers and Willie Nelson.
Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson. Those 3 along with stapleton make up some of the best country music put out in a couple decades. and all of them but Isbell (from Alabama) are Kentucky boys.
@@uns33n you listen to Brent Cobb?
@@kadegainey5123 I haven't yet, but always want to find new music. Do you have any song suggestions?
literal tears from music is a rare thing
I teared up from miley cyrus’s silent night from a very murray christmas
Sooo, apparently I like country after all...
+Perry Sanders great music is just great music. It can't be pigeonholed into just one genre.
+Perry Sanders Congrats! Welcome
+Maximus Bevo right on thanks for the info broski
+Perry Sanders I always considered myself as someone who disliked country. Then I heard Chris Stapleton. I can't stop listening.
Mann today is the first day I heard his music I was blown away ! This lady also has such a gentle spirit.
He is one of a group who have saved country music from the stranglehold of commercialization.
Anyone else love the way she said “god bless you” ?
When the music and the musicans are good you don´t need any show. It is the show. It´s haertwarming.
Morgane has such a phenomenal voice too(and she sounds perfect with him😍).
💯
This is not a joke. I was not a huge fan of Morgane’s. I thought it was more of Paul/Linda thing. Then, I got hearing aids. I’m enjoying these songs all over again with much greater appreciation for Morgane.
At 3:08 he says "When I leave this earth, I'll be holding your hand...." you can see Morgane instantly think about that and man does she look sad. These two are perfect.
Drew I caught that too.
Like Johnny and June...RIP
Cuts like a knife..
there was zero sadness in that look. just love
She always looks at him so adoringly. It's sweet
The fact that anyone puts a "thumbs down" on a Tiny Desk, is just ridiculous.........why are you even here?!?!?
Ikr..i said that same thing
They are from Australia... like button's just upside down for them.
Just watched this tiny desk concert, been a Stapleton lover for more than a decade. The Steeldrivers album Reckless really impacted me deeply. Stapleton marries rock, country, R&B, folk, blues and Americana. Seems like I’ve been listening to this all my life! Thanks to my parents who raised me
On GOOD music, whatever the genre!❤
Among all the talented world stars in the world I’m happy I’m still here today pushing my career .if you wanna dialogue more my first digit is 616 followed by 675 then 298 and 7.
I don't know who has more soul in this video. Morgane, Chris, or that old Gibson. This is truly beautiful. And it don't hurt that Chris is an Ol Kentucky Boy!!!
Yes Kentucky here 🙋🙋
Joseph Lewis lexington horse country
One of these days, I’m going to see a Chris and Morgane Stapleton performance that doesn’t make this grown man cry. This is country, rock and roll, blues, soul, all wrapped up into one. That’s why they are so good. The connection to his music is unavoidable; it just grabs you and bear hugs you and doesn’t let go.
You can tell she’s infatuatedly in love with him. Wholesome af.
More of You makes me weep every time....the look in his wife's eyes....oh god, gets me every time!
Exactly!!!!!!!

I had the privilege of seeing the in Dublin IRELAND. ...
I have been to thousands of concerts...
When Chis and Morgana sang more of you my life was complete...
What a wonderful experience that must have been
The fact he always speaks of his cowriters just shows of his class. And his caliber as a songwriter and artist. The GOAT.
Omg yes. Same. Exactly the same!
This man is genuine and the real deal. So many of the current male country singers are just autotune, is it country or quasi rock, posers. This guy reminds me of real, classic country. What a breath of fresh air.
it makes me weep when I see how much Morgane and Chris love each other......can't get enough of his music.....best thing since sliced bread.
Yes its so beautiful to see
Look there is country..and there is Chris Stapleton..his voice is insanely beautiful. Full of blues and soul he is outstanding! His wifes voice is beautiful also ❤❤
