@@creatorsfreedom6734 One of my buddies had a couple of them in high school. One with a 351 and the other with a 460. The one with the 460 when he punched it all you could see was sky over the hood.
That Camaro had an excellent owner. No rust and mechanically sound kudos to them for taking care of it. Looking forward to the previous owner seeing their pride and joy rolling back on the road. Dylan, you rock brother!
I can’t wait to see this get done. If at least for the previous owner to enjoy one last ride, another great video but it does hurt the heart to hear of their condition
that linkage from the trans to the column is the shift interlock linkage. it works the neutral and reverse light switch on the column, prevents the key from being turned back all the way when not in park (on manual trans cars you would have to put the shifter in reverse to get the key out) and prevents the shifter from being moved with the key off
I had a 79 for a few years, bought it from a co-workers brother who ordered it new from the factory with a 350, close ratio 4speed manual, a posi rear end. It was built in the age of 55 mph speed limit, so at 70, it turned like 3,000 rpm! Kinda busy at highway speeds. It was a hardtop, AM/FM 8track stereo that worked! Bought a couple of tapes off Ebay, Van Halen II, and blew people's minds when they saw/heard that! Had plans to do stuff to it, and owned it like 10 years, then life got in the way and actually sold it back to my co-worker! Kinda full circle!
I just found your channel recently but have been binging your content since I found it. I gotta say, you seem like a genuinely great person. You are mature well beyond your years and I can't get enough of these videos. I recently lost my Dad, so watching you with your Dad is therapeutic in a way. Can't wait to see how this beautiful beast turns out!
I would change out the Heater Core , I would bet it is leaking and that is why the floor on the passenger side is rusted out , plus there is a good chance there is a mouse nest in there and it will make your car smell terrible every time you use the heater . I am glad you will be giving the owner a chance to see his beautiful Camaro on the road again , Cheers
Beautiful find - I daily drive a 77 Camaro and it never fails to make me smile no matter what mood I’m in. Can’t wait to see this 79 all cleaned up in the next video - Looks like she needs very little work, and I bet it’ll surprise you how nice it cleans up.
Hey Dylan: Good job restoring the '79 Camaro especially after clearing out the exhaust which got the rig running much smoother... Just goes to show that you just can't kill a Chevy...From the home of PB Blaster Silicone spray... Cleveland, Ohio........
You seem like a really nice guy and i am sure you are sitting by good people. Stage four cancer is a terrible thing to happen to anyone. Just wondering if your friends might consider something like cleaning out the garage to help ease the burden on the family? Hope to see you, Kevin, Luke and Mook get together again up here in Iowa one more time.
Second generation Camaros are my favorite! I am a Chevy guy, but I love the Mopar’s as well. So happy to see this video. Can’t wait for the next one on it! Great job!
This brings back memories. My first car was a brand new, off the lot, 1979 Camaro Ralley-Sport 4 speed, T-Top, Silver with Black Hood and stripes. :-) :-) Thank you for the content :-)
I just got a 86 Camaro a couple weeks ago. 1 owner car. It has a 305, 4bbl, 10 bolt rear and 700r4 trans..got it running only changing the spark plugs and it’s fun to drive. It does the same one wheel peel but it is what it is…great video by the way looking forward to more so I can get some ideas with my project
Dylan God Bless You and the family! In prayers for the gent battling cancer. I pray he has given his life to God. An amazing Camaro for sure! What a blessing it runs so well.
Dylan is cool.... he likes his Mopars and I can appreciate that but he also makes us Chevy guys happy to by working on a Chevy once in a while. I just happened to have a 79 Z28 back in the day... Good times !! Thanks Bud ! and Love the channel !!! Come on 1M Subs !!!!!!!!!!
You should continue the restoration in this beast! Awakend from its 10 year slumber I'm looking forward to the washing and small fixes and seeing it in it's full performance!!!
You got sooooome timing man. Literally TOMORROW, I'm getting my girlfriends 78 Camaro running again, which has been sitting in her grandmothers barn since 2016. 🤣🤣freaky man. 😅
I think it's nice that the Disco Era Camaro is finally getting some love. They really where under appreciated. I missed my first one so much I had to get another one.
Hey Dylan, I have always loved working on cars. I have had Camaros and Mustangs but 2 years ago I had a massive heart attack and now I can only watch you Kevin and Mook work on the cars I love!! You are so lucky to have found a car like that in that kind of shape. I can't wait to see it finished and the old owner get to take a last ride in his and my dream car. God bless you brother.
It is a dualjet 210 carburetor. My 82 Malibu with 229cu v6 has a dualjet 210 on it. We have had the car since it was new. It sounds like it needs a new choke pull off too. That will cause the super rich condition when first started.
Great car, brother. My wife and I have a 79 trans am, we love this car, and I always wanted a smokey and the bandit car. I'm looking forward to watching your progress on this 79 camaro.
Can't wait to see it all cleaned up! I had a 74 Camaro back in my youth! Pretty good car but it must've been made with imported steel because that baby had rust blistering on both sides of the rear fender wells after just one year!! Kept it until 76 and then traded it in!!!
The '78-'81 Camaros are my all time favorite! I've owned a '78 Type LT with the original 5.7 350/TH30 and an '81 Sport Coupe with a swapped in 6.6 400/TH400. I miss those cars so much and hope to own one again someday. For now, I love seeing videos like this bringing them back to life and on the road again!
I fell in love with Camaros when I was a little boy growing up in the ‘70s and this generation was on the road. When the third gen came along in ‘82, my mind was blown. Bought an ‘86 Z28 about ten years ago, and I love it. Always does my heart good to see these old Camaros back on the road! Nice work!
I had a 78 Firebird, 305 auto.. primer gray. It was a single family car so it wasn't horribly abused but the grandkid got his hands on it and kinda messed up all the stuff that started to break. It was a fun car, we were all F-body boys in high school, 5 of us all had 70s Camaros or Firebirds.. I remember Jeff had the 3 speed manual, that was cool. It was fun back then. Pulled the AC, the smog pump, lost as much weight as possible. We all ended up with 2bbl 305s, nobody had a z28 or anything, nothing with any power, but they were FUN cars to have in High School!! Everyone liked us! (graduated in 96 so it was a different time back then, cost 18 bucks to fill from empty)
Back in the smog pump days I lived in Oklahoma and no one cared if it was there or not. I drove Fords at that time and always removed the pump. It was easy, a quarter inch plug for water pipe and take the pump and throw it away. A mechanic told me it took seven horse power to run that pump and I drove six cylinder F100 trucks and needed the seven horses.
Definitely looking forward to this project series. I had an ‘81 and my Dad helped me install a 350 in it. Brings back fun memories of flying down the highway.
I just traveled back to my high school days!!!!! A good friend had a 79 Camaro while I drove my 77 Triumph TR7. He beat me in the straights but I took him in the corners. Either way, what a great video sir..
As a judge for Camaros at the Rhinebech Car show, N.Y., Very Nice find. My brother had a 1970 with the McPherson suspension, Very Rare. White w/Black Stripe. So much can be done with that. Great find again. Valve seals, no biggy
Dylan, nice find on the '79 camaro. I recently got one myself like yours mine is White on White. It's an '81 Berlinetta, i also got an '80 Malibu Wagon Drag Car in the same find. Picked up the Camaro 2 weeks ago and found it in my late father in-laws garage @ their Indiana house. Hauled her home to Ohio and found the gas tank bone dry. went and got a couple of gallons of gas primed the carburetor and poured gas down it until the fuel pump caught up and she fired on the first hit. Mine has been heavily modified though, it has 350 with 1 5/8" headers to cheap little rumble mufflers to turn downs, has a Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock carburetor, Accel HEI Coil, and a turbo 350. After all that lol and after all that I find it has a stock 10bolt w/ 2.73gear and one wheel squeal. Got new meats on it out back in the way of amazon special 245/60R15's that weird feeling you get driving yours could be from driving the car on what feels like balloons from lots of side wall they had stock 225/70R`14's are much like truck tires these days. The interior on mine is completely gutted so i got a good look at the floor boards luckily this thing has never been kept out doors in inclement weather and has always been garaged during the winter so it only has light surface rust on the floors. Except the drivers floor board where the e-brake cable goes through since its is rustier in that one little section and only on the inside, it looks like they had spilt a soda on the floor or left the window down when it rained and it accumulated in that area and the carpet stayed wet for a long while. It has since been pulled from the car because when i got it there was no carpet, the seat belts are missing and each of the front seats are held down with one bolt(redneck fastener extraordinaire anyone?). None of the gauges work on the dash and the speedo bounces all over so it's probably going to need a new one. From what the odometer has displayed it only has 63,754 miles on it. Mine was parked for 25ish years, moved once(hauled not driven it wouldn't start then the battery was dead). it did start maybe 6-7ish years ago prior to my father in-laws passing in 2018. Any how enough of my find, Congrats on yours, it's awesome man, nice one!
Nice Camaro! I've got an 80 Z28 I've been working on for a long time. Glad you are fixing it up and taking the previous owner out for a ride. The c word is an aweful disease. Look forward to the next episode @
My Dad used to have one of these! It was blue with a 6 banger in it but I still loved riding in it as kid. Awesome to see you bringing one similar back!
Great project and yes keep the videos coming in it! The choke housing should have a spring inside it and there should be some heat tubes running to it from the intake that help it open as the engine warms up. Loosen the screws holding that black cover and you can adjust the tension on it. I just rebuilt the qjet on a 78 Z28 and that is how it functioned. Set your initial timing to 8-12 degrees. The timing mark may be at the 12:00 position too. It was on the 78 I worked on. About 32-36 degrees all in will be good! Best of luck with the Camaro!
Love those Camaros. I drive a ‘15 SS as my daily. Brings a smile to my face everyday. Cannot beat a small block Chevy. Fix her, clean her and send her down the road.
i'd have asked about that rolling cart next to the door. you can never have too many of those. vintage t-tops are all well and good until it rains. that aside, that camero is in awesome shape, and is an obvious candidate for restoration. loving those factory stripes.
Dylan, had the same exact car back around 2000. 79 Rally Sport. Same engine, spoiler, ps & pb. No t-tops but factory rear defrost. Carb was funky, but put new tires, exhaust and a nice radio and speakers. Zero rot or rust and I live in the north east. Sold it because I was moving. Wish I still had it. Oh and if you grab that little end piece on the door it should open.
Nice Camaro Dylan. It will look fantastic when it is cleaned up. GM cars when taken care of do drive nice. I like the white with the black interior color combo also. My neighbor purchased a new 79 Camaro Z28 back in the day and still owns it and looks showroom new. It is the maroon with the red interior and also has the T Tops. He has babied that car it’s whole life and it only has about 13k miles on it. Love this year of Camaro. Can’t wait until you clean your Camaro up so you can give the previous owner one last ride. God bless him.
What a great find!! Can’t wait to see this car come back to life and see all the work put into it. My uncle had a 77 rally sport edition and I wanted it bad. He was willing to sell but came to my senses and realized how much it would cost a 17 year old to insure it and I couldn’t drive it in the snowy winters we have. That was 21 years ago. But I still think about her and ran into the new owner of it on an occasion.
I had a 78 z28 and loved that car. Watch those door hinges. They are extremely heavy and very hard on the hinges. Those small blocks that vintage also were prone to bad valve seals
Excellent video Dylan :) also great cars those one lots families & friends of had them over years in different years plus years colors to plus motor also transmission and axle even you name it to ! My late uncle Bill had 1985 Blue one in Berrinette type , T-Tops , 350 V8 motor 4 barrel, daul exhaust, Automatic transmission with Overdrive, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Delay Wipers, Crank Windows , Power Steering also Brakes and Power trunk ! He had till 1989 then trade in at GM dealership to he deal for years to get 1989 Chevrolet Camaro RS I-RocZ to with 350 Corvette engine, Automatic transmission Overdrive 4 speed with Shift Kit, 390 rear end also True from manifold back on daul exhaust too , all options too plus Sunroof! In 2009 he got me Restoration it full , take clutch fan off , put 4 core rad with 2002 Chevrolet Impala car 2 electric fans and frame was changed to full frame one because was Unibody set up had originally since new ! After Restoration done got appraisal said was worth $15.000 to $25.000 of low mileage only had 178.00 kms in 2013 my late Uncle Bill past away and 2014 his long time girlfriend could sale on internet or Auto Trader book to and young kid in area bought for $5.000 only ! But got destroyed in accident saw in Wrecking Junk Yard it fire damage and very upset happened to it ! But wishes got car so take vechiles show and drive but my uncle girlfriend wouldn't let me buy it too or families of mine ! I had $ to pay for it ! But never happened and like memories in both cars from back then ! Also one Reverse light and license plate to Dylan plus flashers on turn signals plus Flashers breaker is Circle on fuse panel on bottom of fuse on drive foot pedal on left side near clutch pedal on firewall too ! Flashers breaker is metal chrome or color one !
Pretty kewl car my Dad has a 79 Z28 fire engine red with amber flames going up the hood and a 4 speed manual transmission, it's funny the trans is actually worth more than the car is even being in good condition. Its an old muncie. smoke glass T tops as well. They are nice cars we had to put lakewood street and strip traction bars under that car it like to spin 360'S when you dumped the clutch any time you where taking a corner. Love the video my friend God Bless and have a good one.
Dylan in my opinion this car was definitely a really good investment. I am looking forward to next weeks episode where you put in more work on the car. I always look forward to your videos
What a great car! "A Camaro is a Camaro" couldn't have been said better. I'm looking for a 3rd Gen Camaro but looking at all really, 4th gen, meh..... But that Camaro will clean up so nice, rebuild that "Dualjet" LOL. Brake work, she'll be a great car! Can't wait to see the next video. Thank you for taking us along.
I really liked this one Dylan... You put out good content. This one was a favorite for me. Maybe because it reminds me of my Dads 1980 Camaro Berlinetta with the 267 "weak" V8.. Was a cruiser.. I was 16 & With the wheel turned all the way? I could muster a slight wheel spin about 6 feet... My friends would always try to get me to do big burnouts.. But Intead of telling them it can't or it's a gutless V8? I lead with "guys my dad would kill me and I couldn't drive it anymore" 😁 the giveaway should have been the chrome wirewheel Berlinetta hubcaps 😂... Anyway thanks for doing this video and sparking up a memory from 1987... I just gave away my age 😂
What a find... looking forward to the cleaning up! That would be a great one to do a road trip in. These old camaro's are typical americana for us Brits ! Top job.
I'm glad you're able to get the doors off. The Dukes of Hazard method of entrance on the driver's side I'm certain is why the seat and door card show so much wear. My dad had a 79 Camaro as a demonstrator with a 350, and that car would scream. Have fun, and please bring her back to her original glory.
I got a Ford FE engine started after it had sat for 27 years. All I needed to do was put a Starter solenoid, some battery cables and a new battery in it. Oh and put some fresh gas in it. When it first started, the carb was flooding, but a few taps over the float valve fixed that. Still couldnt drive the truck home though. It had no brakes and the clutch was stuck. But I did get it to start and run. Now the truck is a good, reliable old truck.
Subscribe for part 2! What do you think on this Camaro?

Nice Camaro! I've got an 80 Z28 I've been working on for a long time. Glad you are fixing it up and taking the previous owner out for a ride. The c word is an aweful disease. Look forward to the next episode @
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh Dylan I am so glad you are going all the way with this one!!!!!!
Wow, so much praise for a non-Mopar vehicle! Nicely done.
Love those Camaros. I drive a ‘15 SS as my daily. Brings a smile to my face everyday. Cannot beat a small block Chevy. Fix her, clean her and send her down the road.
Oh man your stuff keeps getting better! Love it!
Oh, & BTW, the door handles are still available NOS. If the locks aren’t frozen, you can sometimes grab the back part of the handle & open it.
i'd have asked about that rolling cart next to the door. you can never have too many of those. vintage t-tops are all well and good until it rains. that aside, that camero is in awesome shape, and is an obvious candidate for restoration. loving those factory stripes.
Hey I like that 79' Camaro! (Good thing the dust and etc. Wasn't flies. You sported a great big smile through the test drive. 😂
I absolutely adore this generation of the Camaro, I wanna see you build this into a monster Dylan!!
good thing your doing for the owner of this camaro please keep us updated on his health conditions
That's a violation of their privacy but at least you care about him and I want hear anything else about him but he might not be to happy
@@paulalcock6735 its only a violation if its done without permission
love all the vintage rides from 1979....was a time when music and cars were seeming cool even if they weren't.
The amount of dirt flying around while u were driving was too funny. Glad you got her back driving.
Oh this things going to be nice! Looking forward to pt 2!!!
Love that you are fixing this Camaro. Can't wait to see the clean up video. This car will look beautiful when you're done with it.
Tractor 🚜 update plz if you can. I loved that thing💪💪
That brings back a lot of memories, I had a 79 Camaro Z28 back in1982, great video keep up the great work. Can't wait for part 2.
Those popsicle sticks are/were an old school trick to help with heat soak. Typically done with clothes pins though
She's a runner! A little cleaning, carb work, maybe change the rear, new exhaust and headers, that's a gem! Can't wait to see it clean!
Great find
Looking forward to it getting back on the road and all cleaned up
It’s crazy how clean cars are down there and man the purple tint lol sweet find!
The purple is just what happens to old tint
Now your talking!!!! Love these!!
I had a 78 z28 and loved that car. Watch those door hinges. They are extremely heavy and very hard on the hinges. Those small blocks that vintage also were prone to bad valve seals
Always oil door hinges yearly... they wear if dry...
I'm a huge Camaro lover I've owned 10 of them over the years fun good looking cars thanks for the video
This Camaro looks pretty good. Definitely deserves to be saved

The 79 camaro is my dream car. I just never have the time or money to go find and restore one.
My absolute dream car. Need more Camaro content
Dylan in my opinion this car was definitely a really good investment. I am looking forward to next weeks episode where you put in more work on the car. I always look forward to your videos

A great Dylan video to watch as soon as I get home from work ,UK 430pm
What a great car! "A Camaro is a Camaro" couldn't have been said better. I'm looking for a 3rd Gen Camaro but looking at all really, 4th gen, meh..... But that Camaro will clean up so nice, rebuild that "Dualjet" LOL. Brake work, she'll be a great car! Can't wait to see the next video. Thank you for taking us along.
My fav style of Camaro, my brother had a 76, fix it, clean it, drive it, looks great
That’s a nice find , and it’s my favorite body style for the old whip.
Not going to lie. My dream car is a 1968 Camaro but I do love the look of the 79 and you're kind of making me want one right now. Haha
I got to watch it now I gotta see that man smile😊
What a find... looking forward to the cleaning up! That would be a great one to do a road trip in. These old camaro's are typical americana for us Brits ! Top job.
Been dreaming of owning one of these since I was 16. Thanks Dylan! Off to marketplace to look for one again!😅
Congratulations Dylan on the birth of your daughter!!!
Great to see you venture out beyond the mopars...
Big fan of this car. My first real car was a 79 Firebird, so really love this second gen cars. Can’t wait to see it get a bath.
