Well said! I also deleted social media six months ago and I have never felt better. It’s amazing how the human brain is slowly trained into the toxic behaviour that you understand how bad is for you you quit it.

Well done 🙌🏼 yeah it is amazing how many of my problems were solved by simply quitting on it 😊

Three years without social media? That's truly commendable! Your ability to stay true to yourself and prioritize your well-being is incredibly inspiring. Your journey reminds us all of the importance of disconnecting to reconnect with what truly matters. Keep shining bright, and thank you for sharing your authenticity with us :)

ive deleted social media in the past but i keep going back, but just recently ive noticed how its literally changed my brain. I enjoy reading, but never do it when i have social media. same with writing, and going for walks and a ton of other hobbies i used to do everyday, but i deleted it permanently on friday and im 100% sticking to it this time. Ive noticed my attention span improving and my focus coming back and my need for natural dopamine sticking, in the past when i deleted these apps, yet i went back anyway. but these types of videos inspire me to stick to it, so thank you

Before deleting social media permanently I also went on and off a couple of times 🙃 I am sure this time you’ll make it! The problem is that social media gives such a dopamine kick like almost no other activities, that makes it even harder to do something else instead…
Thanks for your comment and welcome 😍

Social media can be fun and it does give you that sense of belonging, specially if you are a lonely person. The problem for me is that it makes me lazy, I start neglecting my studies, I get distracted at work and I lose a lot of time that I should not be losing because I need it to study. Even my weekends go by so quickly because I am looking at my phone, I am trying to change that but sometimes I get too lonely and social media does help with that.

I agree 100% - it is a personal decision at the end of the day. For me the positives are just so diminishing compared to the negatives that for me this was the only (logical) step to take.
Remember also that if you decide to stop social media you will have more time which you have no idea what to do with. We humans fear boredom, so essentially if you quit social media you need to have good alternatives for your time. Studies unfortunately are often not able to fill this void, because it is really not exciting to study in many cases (at least for me it was not when I still was in school and varsity). ☺

Social media makes you antisocial. If you feel lonely, hangnoutnwith your friends, call someone and talk with him. In the end, people on social media are not your real friends. Be amongst real people and you will never feel lonely, or just get a dog, it works for me. 😊

I So completely get this. I deleted my Instagram and deactivated it about 6 months ago. My friends keep asking me 'omg are you okay??' And I just don't know what to tell them. But I feel so free and not burdened by expectations

I feel you! Not that I really got asked (lol) but the burden part is so true! I am now just going to places without thinking about needing to make an insta story about it 😍

Hello!! I personally never had facebook, instagram or tiktok (even though im gen z as well) but I do have other social media apps, namely youtube, discord, whatsapp, snapchat and messenger. I'd love to know your opinion and/or relationship with the apps I've mentioned. I assume snapchat is the most "controversial" out of the bunch but I see it a bit differently as you cannot scroll endlessly there; once you've seen all the pictures your friends sent you there is nothing more to do on the app. However, maybe I am missing something and it is detrimental to my wellbeing in ways I have not considered. What are your thoughts on this?

I do use UA-cam because it’s a great place for me to learn all types of things and there are great ways to make it less addictive as Google allows you e.g to depersonalise the suggestion feed.
Snapchat was one of the apps I deleted 3 years ago because I often felt like I need to take my phone out to take a snap to send to people and then I did not enjoy the moment itself but it sort of got tainted with “trying to impress others”.
I use WhatsApp and Signal but both only for messaging and calling, but I do not use the story functionality at all there.
Facebook I also deleted 3 years ago, tbh because of too much bad news, (especially during the “Panini”) and people trying to sell something.
Never used Discord or messenger :)
For me Instagram was definitely the worst because you can not really control what you see, of course you can only follow less triggering accounts but I tried it and it never worked for me…
And about all messengers: I am super happy we live in a time where I do not have to sit down and write a letter to my family or only call them at certain times. I am really not trying to “demonize” phones and digital media as such because it has democratized information and communication and enabled so much efficiency also in the workplace. But yeah my take is here: check carefully whether the services you use are actually services or liabilities. And then make a wise decision on how to deal with them ☺️
Hope this answered you questions xx

I did this like 2 years ago now but a year ago I logged back on all my accounts and permanently deleted everything. I mean I still have youtube and discord though.

Well done! ☺️ I personally like UA-cam because I learn a lot here and I can be very selective about what I want to see. Of course too much is also not good but yeah I really like UA-cam ☺️

Yeah I know this problem. I also have to basically make UA-cam not accessible for myself on my phone in order not to scroll through it the entire day… it’s shocking how I actually sometimes feel like an addict in that sense 😳
