It's a trap for unhappiness to compare ourselves to others. Then we focus on the competition itself, and not improving our own lives. We should only compete with ourselves, and do better than our own yesterdays. When something fun becomes a habit, then that habit can become a necessity, like scrolling your phone. It seems some people just can't break away from their phones! Whether they're bored, or lonely or anxious...out come the phones. I agree with your 'snowballing' concept, that people get less and less satisfaction in social media, so they consume more and more.
Absolutely agree with the video's message about the benefits of a social media detox. Taking these breaks can really help reset and recalibrate our habits. It's also crucial to stay aware of the behaviors that lead to overuse, and to remain vigilant against the possibility of falling back into old patterns. Your experience is a valuable reminder of maintaining a balanced approach to social media.
In january I delted my 10 year old facebook account. I also had friends from 5th grade with whom I never had contact since then. Or coworkers who I see everyday and know anyway whats going on in their lifes. It brought me such a peace of mind.
😅I had my first smartphone 6 years ago and my Facebook account 4 years ago, while my friends in Vietnam have had smartphones and Facebook accounts for over 15 years 😅. I don't think I've missed much. I hardly spend my time on Facebook. Most of my time on social media is spent on UA-cam because I'm a very curious person who watches and listens to a lot of documentaries, news etc. including your videos😊. I prefer to be in nature and admire the many wonders around me. That relaxes me, especially after working days full of the liveliness of my little students 😁
Thanks for this nudge, I’ve been thinking about deleting my Insta and after watching this I did it! Instead of scrolling there I’m turning to a language site instead when I get the urge. I know it’s only one day but it happens to be the present day 😂
Hi, my Facebook and Instagram, I stopped there, are a replacement for of letters and pictures old school times....my friends are in others countries, so for me it s the same, to keep contact until next time... Otherwise I find a kind of new hobby challenging my creativity, it s to do a nice story everyday, base of colors, themes whatever and some friends start to watch it everyday, so being myself and sharing other things than my life or my face is cool for me...sometimes I take a break...😊 Also I never compared my life or myself to others since I m born, so I don't have this problem...👍🏻
You have no idea how helpful your work is, especially in area of mental health. Great work Seve!
Thank you! 😊
