How to Crochet WITH Your Ends 😉 Time Saving Crochet Hack!

  • Hate weaving in your ends? Me to! In this video I show you how to crochet WITH your tails for a secure finish; not crochet over, crochet WITH. No needle? No problem 😅
This method is great if you have lots of colour changes on a blanket or crochet project and will work with any stitch.
Bare in mind, the bulkier the yarn, the more likely it is to show so this works best with mid to light weight yarns (the yarn shown in the video is classed as Aran weight / Worsted weight)
I hope this handy crochet tip / hack helps! x

    🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on UA-cam yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Great tutorial. I use a similar method but crochet the whole stitch with the tail. It does add bulk so I will try your half stitch method. Great tip, thanks again.

I am crocheting an Afghan with wide stripes. Discovered your video when I was half finished, with many color change ends to have to weave in. I had a hard time trying to do this method with the chain 1, skip 1, single crochet pattern. After many tries I finally found a way to do it. I chained 1 with my working strand and used your method for the single crochets. Voila! No more ends to weave in on the remaining half of my afghan. I have never seen such an ingenious method before. Thank you!

That's a fantastic tip! Will give that a whirl! Thanks for mentioning that simply crocheting over the tail isn't a good idea. The first few years I started I didn't know that. I had heard it was a great way to avoid the dreaded weaving in of ends. Then an afghan I made as a gift unraveled in the washing machine a couple years after I made it. I was mordified! Now I am so careful about making sure my ends are secure. I want to make sure nobody else relives what happened to me.

This is a great technique. One thing I have been doing recently (similarly) is leaving a long tail when I start a colour - 10cm) and using a tapestry technique to carry the yarn under my stitches but alternating between the tail and the working yarn to form my stitches until the tail is gone. Same idea-the tail becomes part of the stitch work and is woven in very securely.

I've never heard of this technique but I would love to try it, as sewing in ends is THE WORST. Thank you!

😮😮😮😮 I have not seen this before but, I will most definitely use it going forward! Thank you so much for sharing!! Great tip. I do not crochet over my ends either. They work themselves loose all the time! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this video tutorial. I searched for one, because I was trying to learn this method from a foto tutorial and I couldn’t understand how it worked. Now I know 🤓
and I will surely use it on my projects.
    Thanks again!
