Guess it's a language dialect thing, "Tow bars" in the U.S go on the front to tow the vehicle. We call it "trailer hitch"( goes on back to which you pull something). Good video. 🤔😉🇺🇸🏴👍
American English Is quite literal and a much simplified version to the queen's English. A tow bar goes on the BACK of a vehicle because the vehicle is TOWING something. The thing you refer to at the front of the vehicle is known as a TOWING EYE.
Check out pfjones.co.uk website for the vehicle wiring kits. We did not have it coded by Ford, everything is working fine. Thanks for the comment. Malc.
Thanks for a great video. Did you have to break the white plastic plug on the RHS of the footwell to then lift it out? I cannot see how to get it out without breaking something. Thanks for any help you can give.
Thanks for your reply, that's what I thought. I paused and zoomed in on your video and it looked broken. All other clips popped out with no problem, I don't know why this one should be so immovable! Even after breaking it off I still cannot unlock the last peg and lift it up. Is there a technique or do I just need to pull very very hard? Thanks again.
Hi Allan. You have to remove the grey plastic trims above the black footwell. Start with the top seat belt trim. Carefully lever them off. The footwell is the hardest one to get off. Rewatch that part of the video to see where the clips are. The long peg is the part that caught us out. I hope this has been useful. Good luck Malcolm 👍👍
Did you remove the vehicle negative terminal when fitting your kit, just in case the can-bus/ ECU messes up when connecting the green connector, seems a bit of a faff to do that just to plug this kit in , and you dont mention it so I assume its not necessary.
i'm just about to install mine it looks like i have the same wiring loom .. i have a 7 pin socket but have 8 wires . i have a pink wire left over can you shed any light on this .. cheers
paul riley .....It is just a spare that has been put into the loom in case you need another feed. We just tidied it away. We had problems with leaving the connections in the footwell. We lost all the lights on the trailer after about four weeks. We removed the footwell plastic step to find the main power plug was corroded and the wire had rotted away from the water that collected in the footwell. Had to make the connection good and all worked. To prevent it happening again we moved the connections to the underside of the passenger seat. I hope this helps.
@@malcolmbrooksmhomechannel Thanks really appreciate you're information did you have to have the wiring loom activated by Ford? If so what was the cost.
what was the link to buying the right towbar.? having a right nightmare trying to find the correct one. so many options!. i want a simple towbar with a standdard old style round connector !!
Why don't they just have the connections put under the van so easy to access on the chassis ?. why on earth do you have to dismantle all of that to get to a connector ? !! terrible design
Great video & really helpful many thanks...

Hi struggling to find the wiring loom that goes through the foot well any way to get in contact with you
I find it much easier fitting a bypass relay than running a wiring loom all over the van.
Hi do you have a link to the wiring kit you used please, also did you have to do any coding after install? Thanks Ashley

Please let me now wear I can buy this loom? I try your link-can't found.
Thanks for any help.
Vadim Hristaforov I have tried pfjones.co.uk website and it works fine. The wiring looms are still available on the website. Thanks Malcolm.

I’ve just looked at the video again and it looks like we broke the white clip as well.👍🚐

I think in desperation we just pulled up very hard. It was the long black peg that gave us the most problem. Ford doesn’t make it easy.👍🚐
Thanks again Malcolm, I really appreciate your help. I'll have another go tomorrow and use a lot more force. All the best 👍
Can you show how to remove the plastics around the footwell, all ready to go but do not want to break anything. Cheers.

@@malcolmbrooksmhomechannel Thanks Malcolm, will try again today ☺
All good, thanks for your help.

We didn't remove the neg terminal. We wired the 7 pin plug first. The last thing to connect was the two plugs under the side step.
Can you show us how to get the plastics off pls
.

paul riley ....We didn’t have the software adjusted by Ford. The only issue is the reversing sensors are affected by the trailer.
Malcolm Brooks does this mean the sensors go off straight away when you turn the van on? Or just when reversing?
Or just with a trailer on?

Hi. Look at www.witter-towbars.co.uk should be easy from them. 👍🚐
Was actually wanting to get insructions on a TOW BAR!!! Not a TOW HITCH!!!??
Sorry...we call things different over here.👍

Sorry I don't know the torque settings for the bolts.
