  • When I was using my Pentax MZs film camera for weddings I bought this camera as a back up and for my assistant or second shooter to use.It is a little talked about camera but an excellent camera for budding film enthusiasts. I f you can get one I would highly recommend it and especially I would look for the battery grip too.I have also put a link back here to my review of the Pentax MZs.
    • A review of the Pentax...
    Thanks for watching.
    NB. The metering is actually 6 segment Multi segment metering.I got it wrong in the video.There are two autofocus positions. Spot and wider.

    The last of the Pentax film cameras were really nice cameras to use. They had a traditional look and feel of a 35mm camera with all the then, up to date features you could need.

      Thanks Dominic. Yes most of them were pretty good. The pinnacle was the MZs which I still have. I started with Spotmatic and worked my way through. cheers. Geoff

    Hi Geoff, I just got one of these given to me from one of my friends grandparents, however it has no lens, what lens would you suggest for a newbie, for this camera?

      Hi Dylan. Thanks for your question and well done on your gift. The lens I show on here is the Pentax F 35-70mm f3.5- 4.5 zoom lens and I would recommend it. There are a number for sale on Ebay at present. It is the standard lens that came with all pentax cameras of that era and it is very good.I would just use your camera on auto to start with.Film has a wide latitude for error. You can be overexposed quite a bit but still get a workable picture.Have fun. Geoff

    So, I think around 2:35 you said the lens you show is an “A series” autofocus lens. But I’m pretty sure the lens on your camera is an F series lens. I’m pretty sure the lens you show is a Pentax-F 35-70 f3.5-4.5 macro lens. There is no A series version of that lens

      Thanks mix shop. You are quite right. I was saying that because it had the A setting on the barrel.I found a listing of all the different pentax lens types for anyone who is curious. Here is the link.

      I like your studio paul. One of my sons used to have his own recording studio in Adelaide. cheers Geoff

    Didn't these have a plastic gear problem?

    • @pembridgehouse
      @pembridgehouse  Місяць тому

      I can't answer that. Could have. Most cameras have a use by date or when things start to go wrong. I never had any problems with this camera. Thanks for stopping by. Geoff.

      Update:
      The Pentax forums say,
      The ones assembled in the Philippines, labeled "Pentax Corporation" and having a serial number starting 5 or 6 will have a Brass gear and will last much much longer than the plastic ones.
