Wow! The car looks absolutely mint. What I loved about this video was, in the course of a 15 minute slot, you did a complete end to end process in the sort of conditions that most of us face - ie no indoor detailing studio with ambient lighting etc. This will be so useful to so many people.
Heather's attention to detail is remarkable, wetting down the surrounding ground area so as to not have any dust come up during machine polishing. First-rate! The Mustang Mach 1 is scheduled to be cleaned and detailed in a couple of weeks with an accompanying video showcasing it.
An absolutely incredible thorough detail of a lovely motor car. Your attention to detail is first class Heather. Product manufacturers please take note, this young lady will demonstrate your products properly, make it interesting in her videos and in turn we will buy them.
Really good stuff as always, thanks for the effort and information. Love the chapters for easy navigation. I say it again; your channel is for sure one of the better car detailing ones 👍
Thanks Heather for another enjoyable video. The red colour of your car really does help showcase the protection products you have applied. I bought a gazebo to cover my car when I ceramic coated it and also gives some protection from the elements. Maybe something to consider for the future? It would be good to have regular updates on the performance of the coatings. I look forward to seeing your next video.
Great channel! Your work ethic matches you're professionalism and skill. Spraying down the area to keep dust down and waiting for panel prep to fully evaporate is smart. Great job as usual, thanks😊
Another great video with good advice about being cautious about dust when polishing and dampening the ground first. Soul Red is a cracking colour - my Dad had a Mazda 3 in that colour and it looked stunning when clean. You've inspired me to go and clean mine and my wife's cars now its cooled down a bit and also try Glaco on them too. Thanks Heather
Great video Heather. Some really thorough techniques to ensure each process could be as effective as possible. Must be very satisfying to know the car is well protected. It looks amazing too... 🤜🏼🤛🏼
It looks amazing Heather, it’s always nice to clean your own car. The wheels look great after a year. Looking forward to some nice weather with sap probably 😂
I’m really enjoying your videos! I never realised how much detail when into detailing. I plan to get into this as I have ordered a brand seat Ibiza FR for Jan 2024 and want to keep it looking immaculate for years to come. Thank you for educating me!
Well done Heather! I've got a couple of friends cars that want me to do a ceramic coating. It's always harder to do it outside but you show that it is possible in ideal weather conditions. This is what I have told my friends, it needs the weather to be spot on and obviously it's better to be inside a studio to do this type of work but not everyone has this luxury do they. Thanks for sharing 🙌
Thanks Jason! Yeah it definitely adds some extra complication applying outside especially with how unpredictable the weather is here! The amount of times BBC weather has told me there’s a 0% chance of rain when it’s throwing it down at the exact same time is ridiculous 😂
I just received my RIM MATS after watching your channel review, I am looking forward to using these on my next detail. Thanks again, I did mention your channel to them as to where I got there web site. These are amazing and can not been had in Canada, thanks again. Ottawa Ontario Canada.
This video was most certainly worth the wait Heather. Top to bottom showcasing your copious skills. I just really dig your car. It’s got great curves. No way I’d like it in a soft top. It reminds me of my 2013 G37 coupe. Right on🔥
Metal tire valve dust caps are a no-no, switch to plastic dust caps, metal caps if left undisturbed for a certain amount of time will get stuck, its because of "galvanic corrosion", a chemical reaction that will fuse the two dissimilar metals together if given enough time. Same situation when an alloy wheel will need some force to get off from the wheel hub (which is made of steel) whereas a steel wheel will not have this problem because both wheel and hub are made from same metal -> steel.
Timely and informative vlog, I've always been put off machine polishing outside but as you say prepare and choose your timing., I have the 'orange' 30th Anniversary Edition of the MX5 and I think treatment similar to what you've done here will give an excellent result and really bring out the tango! As an aside I find the quality of Mazda paint a bit hit and miss and it stone chips rather easily. I'll save this vlog and give your procedure a try! Cheers, Kevin
Haha honestly don’t worry! Just go in with a mild pad and fine polish and you’ll be fine 😊 it’s much easier than polishing a car with hard paint to be honest!
Another cracking watch so thanks again. I am sure I have told you before the colour of your car lends itself to gloss & pop when looked after well as you do. I use wax now exclusively on our cars as after getting my JCW Gyeon 5 year coated although it looked good but I was not blown away and I sold it shortly after anyway. I got a delivery yesterday of the Turtle Wax wheel and tyre Hybrid Solutions products including the Graphene tyre dressing to try as I was looking for a change from Serum that I have been using for about 3 years so I will see how that works. I have not tried it yet as we are in the middle of a heatwave in Scotland and I don't like to detail in direct sunlight. Yum Cars is next to try if I am not impressed. I look forward to the next installment.
I’m planning to apply a Ceramic coating outdoors at some point so I’m looking at ones with a quick cure time rather than the normal 24hrs. Like you say, you need to work with the conditions or all the prep work will be for nothing
Your videos are so informative, well structured and relaxing to watch! I have the same car and am just waiting for the right weather window and my schedule to align to give it a big clean (and yes GT decon shampoo is brilliant product). Though will only go as far as chemical decon and then stick on a wax. Also have to sort the very dirty soft top, so will refer back to your video there.
Thanks very much! Have a look at Fabsil Gold (make sure it’s definitely the Gold version and not the regular one) if you want to protect the soft top, it’s good stuff from my experience!
Thank you for the video Heather. Your Mazda looked absolutely stunning after your sterling work 👌👍. It will be interesting to see how the Garage Therapy costing performs long term. I reckon it will perform exceptionally well, like their other products.
Cheers Karl! I'm really interested to see the performance long-term too, so far so good but it's very early days so the true test will come over the winter
Stunning results Heather some great steps taken should be extremely well protected, have you considered getting some Rimmats detailing on a gravel they would deffo help.👍
Thanks David! I have considered it tbf but I’m hoping to move house in the new few months which has a paved drive so I don’t think I’d need them as much
That has got to be the most thorough multistage cleaning and coating ive seen! It takes me five hours to wash and clean my car inside and out, thats just wheels, wheelarch tyres etc, then snowfoam and two bucket method, hydrophobic coating then drying and detail spray, finaly vacum and clean interior. As i say thats fi e hours and im absolutely exhausted! Admittedly you have a relatively small car, but what you did in one day is truly astonishing with clearly fantastic results.! One question, the OCD in me is driven mad with imperfections such as even micro stone chips, i even have a full PPF application, but of course whilst the paint is being protected, you then end up with imperfections from stones hittingbtge PPF! Crazy i know, but how do you reconcile those tiny and all too inevitable blemishes on your car, when it looks so perfect after all that work? BTW im 58 so thats my excuse for being knackered after clearing the car!😂
Thanks for watching Keith! It did actually take me a couple of days to film this, even then I was absolutely exhausted 😂 Stone chips are a real pain, this car unfortunately has quite a few because the paintwork is so soft and I used to commute on a motorway in rush hour (not a good combination)! It's possible to touch them up but with this colour it's quite tricky even with the Mazda chip touch-up kits so I've kind of made my peace with them to be honest
I'd love to try out all of the amazing Garage Therapy products, but they unfortunately don't have a distributor here in the US. I have some serious product envy!
Really enjoy your channel! You are very good at it. Have you ever used Koch Chemie SO02 sealant? Would love to see if you would consider using it in a future video.
Look at those reflections on that dripping wet paintwork. Well done Heather on a fantastic wash, decon and protect on your MX-5. Might I ask what the sole purpose is for the decon shampoo if you are going to use iron fallout as well?
Absolutely fantastic and that cars a credit to you. You know I messaged over doing a ceramic coating etc but in this it's real life testing so again something others won't do . As others have said the colour pops and even though ceramic isn't for my needs I'd certainly put some on the Adam , I'm just not brave enough to apply it just yet and would need a test panel to practice on .
Thanks for watching Andy! I wouldn't worry about the application process being difficult to be honest. This is only the 4th coating I've tried but they've all been really straightforward to use
@@AutoCareHQ I do have a wing off my old Primera in my shed and I've got some ceramic somewhere so could try on that . On my own car it's really the wheels I'd want to do . Need to speak to the body shop at work about a price to do it. Mine are original paint so 17 yrs old I've had my moneys worth
Thank you! I think it could’ve been actually, I’ve been meaning to do a little test comparing the marring caused by different types of clay I think it’d be interesting to see the effects
Definitely interested in seeing a review comparing clay bar and clay towel re marring. How would you describe the type of marring left by a clay bar? Can it be polished out by hand?
Hi Heather 👋 just catching up on this video and your cars thorough detail. The result is truly first class 👏. Just one qu. if I may. I remember last you applied a GTechniq black trim product to the mx5? and a long term review of how well it performed?.......... can I ask how well it performed, and would you recommend it? as I noticed this time, the product used on the black trim had changed? Looking to add some protection to my new cars black trim. Thanks Heather!
Thank you! So I got about 12 months out of C4 before I thought it needed topping up. It hadn't quite got to the level it was pre-application but it definitely was at the stage where it would benefit from an extra coat. I'd definitely recommend it, I think the investment it well worth it to avoid having to apply something every wash. Plus if you are using it on a new car it will likely last longer!
@AutoCareHQ Brill! Thanks Heather the C4 is now ordered for the Macan T. It's a bit of a departure for me as my last 7 cars have been minis ! Back to mini in 4 years' time, though!
Bloody ripper job Heather! really turned out wet slick and glossy, quick question have you thought of coating the engine bay plastics, And if you were to sell this car what would be your choice? Stay well 🇦🇺
Thank you! I haven’t actually considered it to be honest, good idea though. Hmm I’m think I’d probably have to go for something more practical (or at least just something with more than 2 seats 😂). I quite like the look of a 3 series or even an A3 if I went for a hatchback
A very detailed and informative video as always, you have held off coating your car with a ceramic coating to allow you to try a greater range of products. I'm guessing you have changed your strategy?
Thanks Paul! Yeah I had a bit of a rethink as I am doing a lot more cars now compared to previous years so I can test new products on them quite easily. It's also meant I have less time to actually clean my own car so having a ceramic on it just makes my life a bit easier if I need to do a quick wash

When protecting your plastic trim long term you can also consider using Hades for that as well. It works well on plastic and darkens your plastic too.
