I explored St James' Park & the Stadium Of Light to find out more about Newcastle & Sunderland. Newcastle United are currently in the Premier League & Sunderland are in EFL League 1.
Despite that, the Mackems have more top division titles than the Geordies! Which Tyne-Wear derby club do you think is biggest? COMMENT BELOW!!!

Did you know Sunderland have more league titles than Newcastle?????
@Jack SAFC Newcastle meilleur mon pote
Newcastle and Sunderland will they play each other again???🤔
Good friend,of course,I know that they have more league titles than Newcastle United but overall in their respective histories,Newcastle United are bigger than Sunderland!!!If possible, you can do an interview with lifelong Newcastle United supporter Irish Guy Michael of HITC Sport and lifelong Sunderland supporter Jam Sarny of his same name's You Tube channel to discuss further about the Tynewear derby which have been one of the heated rivarlies despite both are two of my favourite respective teams daily and ever, good friend!!!:-D
@@andrewsmith2399 If Newcastle got relegated and Sunderland got promoted, then yes.
@@ulfurkarlsson5885 Sunderland was close to winning the League Cup in 2014 when was the last time Newcastle were at Wembley in a cup final ?
It just shows the history of northeast football I'm a Sunderland fan but both clubs should be so proud of their history ....
Agree mate hope ye get back up so we can fight again
In the 40s/50s, Sunderland were known as the Bank of England Club due to their financial dominance of English football. But it ended up landing us in a bit of bother due to being caught paying players more than was allowed at the time.
Sunderland and Feyenoord friends since the 70s! Always some sunderland shirts in de Kuip!
Oh dear…
Both clubs got such nice stadiums
I do genuinely miss Sunderland in the Premier League. I miss the derby days, they were always something to look forward to.
You can not be a Newcastle supporter if you miss being beaten by Sunderland.
Fantastic video. Really interesting history of both clubs. Keep up the good work 👍
Your forgot about the keegan era and the pardew and the two fa cup finals in the 90s almost winning the league
Thank you so much for pointing this out.. no Saudi money but roaring times, teams and footbal; that is still talked about..
........ nearly winning the league, lol........you don't get anything for nearly winning something......I nearly won the lottery once, i had 1 number on the lottery and was only waiting for 5 more.👍🏻😁
Bob Stokoe was a Geordie. He played for the Toon for 13 yrs winning an FA Cup in '55.
But died a mackem
Super video and extremely informative. You had nice weather for it, I remember my first visit to Roker Park, New Year's Eve 1966, I froze my town halls off and we lost. I also travelled up in January '77 for a youth cup tie. That was just as cold. Thank you for your super videos. I went to Roker park many times but as yet never made it to The Stadium of Light.
That beach in Sunderland looked like a dream 😍
Very lucky to have it on our doorstep love running down there nothing better
The beach is disgusting 😂
Love watching your video’s mate keep up the good work !!
Love your enthusiasm! Great video mate.
As a Sunderland fan I obviously hate the mags but I love the fans. We both have the most passionate fans in the country . Be great to play you again
If Sunderland had Saudi money who knows what they could achieve. I think Brian Clough was once linked with the managers job at Sunderland, who knows what would have happened if he had gone there instead of Nottm Forest.
Newcastle under Sir John Hall and Kevin Keegan should have won trophies in the 1990;s, they came very close to winning the Premier League
anyone who would take Saudi money has no daughters, Or any care for human rights. It’s atypical of an English club to take blood
Money.
@@ScottishDoc21 then I that so go back been salty
thanks for keeping me entertained
Great stuff! watching my hometown club (Sunderland) from New Zealand! Keep up the good work, some of your doco's on here are superb, love the ones about the Scottish clubs too. Very informative. So pleased you did one about Sunderland (have you been to a game yet?) Just to give an idea of how amazing our supporters are.. Boxing day 2018 league one vs Bradford 46,039 at the game incredible. I believe it is a league one-crowd record!
Wow thanks for watching Chris!! I really need to get to a Sunderland game soon
@@FootyAdventures come next Saturday mate Pompey at home

nope, Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United is
Went to Middlesbrough's stadium when I was there for a music festival last year. Try a parmo if you're there long enough and take a walk to the Transporter bridge. There's a music venue called Empire which is an amazing building too!
Great football content, keep it up
Newcastle are the bigger club right now 100% you can't spend that long outside of the top division and claim to be bigger. It's like saying Blackburn and Leicester were bigger than Liverpool before they finally got their hands on the Premier League title. Or Nottingham Forest are bigger than Arsenal because they've won a European Cup. History is important but it's not a basis for the size of the club, especially if they haven't been in the top tier for what will be 5+ years presuming they get promoted to the Premier League at some time in the future.
Thanks again Sam for another excellent presentation. Barry Venison played for both clubs and was a Newcastle captain.
Interesting, never thought I’d live to see the day. Love this video and your channel. I have a question for you, where would be the best place to ask? Do you have an email?
Great video mate and what a beautiful day in 🌞 SUNDERLAND
Should of went along the coast from sunderland a few miles north you come to South Shields they got a non league club with a nice little ground. Good video on my home town club, thought you would of went to the place where the old roker park was, not much to see as it’s a housing estate sadly.
South Shields Shippers
That was interesting video to watch...no doubt there will be some strong opinions either way.
Fair play for mentioning the hooligan elements...good of you to include that side of things. And we all remember that horse getting punched 😬
Great videos! Please do the same but in Sheffield
I’m a welder, fan of footy stadiums and a Brentford fan. I love the content mate ( ps I stayed in the same hotel in Sunderland for an away game)
Loving your videos. Chris Waddle played for both clubs. It was Great to see you have great knowledge of alot of clubs. Especially my beloved Sunderland. Keep up the fantastic work you do. And ps what was the hotel that you used in Sunderland
It was the Grand hotel at Seaburn formerly the Swallow and most recently the Marriott
Newcastle have never been in the 3rd Division.
Abs brilliant vlog.
Absolutely love your post and your enthusiasm about our clubs in the north east but it’s also your attention to detail in the history and about the actual area. Well done lad !!!!! Suerland til I die !!!! 👍🏼
Did you got to the old site of Roker Park? I know you've done it for a few grounds on your channel, it was not even half a mile from you hotel, and there's a nice plaque on the ground marking the centre spot!
great vid
Just subscribed with you..Saw the Hammers vlog and Arsenal vlog plus the ground that you played at that’s now “Planet of the apes”..Mate your videos are so interesting..And I’m a Sunderland fan and you say Soonderland very well 👌 ..Red and white army…Really good vlogs mate..
And yes we are bigger than Newcastle..🤣..
love the videos. you should come to the troon vs irvine meadow game in a few weeks, portland parks atmosphere will be good and they have some of the best stadium food around in scran
The housing Estate built on Roker Park had streets named after football terms etc pretty cool won't lie
Stan Anderson captained Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.
I’m sorry, but Sunderland are minos compared to Newcastle, Newcastle are the 9th most successful (trophies won) team in English football history with 14 trophies won, they have had more consecutive season in the premier league having nearly won the premier league multiple times in the mid to late 90s, with that Newcastle have never been relegated to league 1 since their formation in the football league, compared to Sunderland who have been relegated to league 1 twice, they have the bigger stadium out of the two sides holding 52,000, a massive club in comparison
You should have come to the Cambridge United game!! Was amazing!
There’s a sunderland fans museum what you could have visited just 5 min walk from stadium of light near the wearmouth bridge on way to the town centre.
Great video mate 🔴⚪️
Get in, one I’ve been waiting for HA’WAY THE LADS
Just watched this as a first video on your channel. Being an ex season ticket holder at both Roker Park and SOL before emigrating to Australia, I think you have captured the nature of the club and its fans really well.
Newcastle will, of course be always in our shadow.
When was the last Newcastle Netflix series??? 😂
You do know that series was made to ridicule Sunderland fans and how entitled and delusional they were/are. There was so much material they made a second series 😂
It was literally produced by a group who were Sunderland fans and almost bought the club at one point never made to ridicule the fans that’s just something the Newcastle fans did to have something over them
I saw you today mate at the game today 👍
Great video!Think of few players who have played for both Sunderland and Newcastle...Len Shackleton,Bryan Pop Robson,Bobby Moncur,Jeff Clarke,Paul Bracewell and Barry Vennison.
Chris Waddle made 7 appearances for Sunderland in 1997
@@bellslinki Andy cole
Toon toon black and white army!! ⚫️⚪️
Newcastle are by far the bigger club. More fans, bigger stadium, more recognizable legends, more European football and succes in recent years (no trophys, but you can't rule out the Kevin Keegan entertainers era).
That's just without taking the Saudi takeover into consideration. With the takeover in mind and Sunderlands League 1 status, it's even more clear...
I’d love to see you at a Sunderland game lad
LeeClark famously played for both. Until the infamous ‘holiday t shirt’ incident!
As a Carlisle fan I like both of these great clubs. There is something genuinely special about the passion.
That said I watch Ipswich at St James park in 1992. There was a crowd of about 10,000
Huge crowd
Very proud of North east football and we have had some great players at Newcastle, but did you know Sunderland nearly signed Maradona as a kid.
When I think of Roker Park...hypothermia springs to mind the last time I was @ Roker Park...as an away fan kept in the ground which was an open terrace exposed to the elements for what seemed like an hour....bloody Baltic 🥶🥶🥶
Can you please do East Kilbride Thistle that's my local team
Great to compare the history of both clubs. However, looking to the future which should be the 1 and only priority then the writing is on the wall
I think you should do a video visiting the grounds of Morpeth Town, Blyth Spartans, Ashington AFC.
Great video, I think of them both in the same guise 2 huge sleeping giant clubs with wonderful supporters who as a traditional football fan since the 80's whos grandpa went to games since the war I heard all the stories about both clubs certainly as we stand today Newcastle are currently the bigger club in terms of Premier league football and money but I take nothing away from Sunderland and visiting the SoL gives me the same buzz as any other top 10 English club. Sunderland will rise again I am sure of it. (Luton fan)
I live round the corner from the old Roker park my first game was back in 1968;
Bad start with your facts,,,Sunderland record crowd was 75,118 against Derby County in the FA Cup 1936...Newcastle record crowd is 68,000
Hey mister, you can't put Sunderlands exact number then round Newcastles number down to the thousand. It was actually 68,386. Let's be fair. Haha.
@@CKWINN11 yeah your right ,,,only 6,732 difference
Paul Bracewell also played for both clubs
I think the great Bryan 'Pop' Robson and equally great Bob Moncur turned out for both.
I was recently in a chippy in Newcastle City centre visiting on a night out, I suggested Sunderland were a bigger club to the local lads in there... Question- How do I remove a sausage stottie from out my back passage.. 🤔
TWO FA CUP FINALS CONSECUTIVE AND TWO PREM TITLE RACE IN THE 90s AND CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL
And never one one thing hahahaha
Current right back Javier Manquillio is ex Sunderland Yedlin who only left last January is too
Thanks for the Sunderland visit very enjoyable 6 points for Sunderland next season In the championship
cant wait for you lot to be in league 1 next season.....is this like your 4th or 5th season of 3rd tier football?
Is it 55 (3.18) or 53 (3.36) games won each?
Did you also know they has never been a mackem in Milan
Well that’s a lie
Never seen a Mackem punch a horse either
Another lie from a mag because I've been
@@kentowers2802 never seen a toon player groom a child
Will be great to have derby days back one day. Hopefully in the premier league and put north east back on the football map of the world.
i agree but by the time sunderland build themselves back up to the prem it will be no competition between the 2 sides, like mancity playing fulham or burnley
Class video 👍
You get your hot dog sausage in a burger bun You get your hot dog sausage in a burger bun ,You get your hot dog sausage in a burger bun , Sunderland a massive club , are the fuck ! 😂
Reckon we're neck and neck, they've won more legaues weve won more fa cups and a European trophy. Historically for a while newcastles preformed better and been in more top level competitions, especially recently. Both clubs have been horribly mismanaged over the years, would like to see the mackems back in the prem just for the Derby. But NUFC slightly edges them out
As a sunderland fan i think newcastle edges it atm because of being much higher in the football league. would love to play yous lot again in the prem
@@thelapincretins3660 Miss the Derby so bad, much better than the watered down man U v Liverpool or London Derbys
We were the first team to join the football league. We had to pay the train fairs of the other teams when they came to sunderland as part of the conditions of us joining because we were so far away
Yes the beach is the best moved up here 4 years ago from London
We've been promoted now😁
Why is parkhead so rusty in comparison to St James park when the construction style is similar
Both are big in there own right but Sunderland are bigger
Any thoughts about going down to the den?
Great video I'm off up there saturday for the Portsmouth match come on Pompey
Question will Sunderland EVER finish above the toon ever again
How many times have Sunderland played in Europe since the turn of the millennium compared to Newcastle?? Newcastle are easily the more popular and bigger club and more known to the international audience because of their team in the UEFA Cup/Europa League and the Champions League 🤷♂️
Barry venison, Paul bracewell, shay given, Steve Harper, Michael Chopra, Steve Bruce was manager
Stick Newcastle in league one crowd won't turn up or if some do would smash up their own stadium
And what makes you think that?
Sunderland won the World Championship in 1895, the forerunner to The World Cup. But lets not forget newcastle have also had world success, their players each won an Intertoto Certificate in 2006. 😂
...... great video and nice to see someone finally give Sunderland a bit of credit......on and off the pitch.......p.s you also missed the fact that Sunderland jointly own the record of the highest top flight away win (with Nottingham Forest), a 9-1 win and guess who we beat....yes it was Newcastle.
Get In.
Sunderland are indeed a bigger club than Newcastle.
Andy cole and Steve harper both played for Newcastle and Sunderland
Both are as big as each other.Should be established top ten PL clubs like ManU- ManC,Liverpool- Everton,Spurs-Arsenal.Years and years of underachievement and mis management have led to apathy amongst long suffering fans yet the loyalty of both clubs fans is resolute.I would say it is the only English derby which comes close to Celtic-Rangers.
Sunderland got nice beach 🏝
Sunderland are a proper massive club, not like the sportwashing mags
Pop Robson played for both Bob Moncur
Sunderland stadium tour
Who's league one and who's prem that's all I have to say
St Patrick's saltire at 15:56 ha
Imagine Newcastle winning the Premier League in 2027, a century after their last league title. 👌
I respect your opinion but Newcastle are the bigger team. Although Sunderland have more league titles than Newcastle those league titles were won in a time when the FA cup was more important than the league. Newcastle have six cups and Sunderland have two cups. In recent history Newcastle success has been challenging for the title and champions league football. While Sunderland success has been finishing 7th back to back. I do believe people have different viewpoint’s on this topic but as a NUFC fan I believe Newcastle are the bigger and better team.
we made a cup final in this century though
The league has ALWAYS been more important?
@@albionstore413 Not in that time mate.. Teams back then were focusing more on the fa cup because it was the best trophy you can win back then it was better that the title..
You said team..yeah I agree..club?.......
All that says is Sunderland fans have been more long suffering.
When you coming down to London mate
Not sure exactly, but I'll do a few trips per year :) I'll be sure to cover Millwall next time!!
