Leeds United Football Club officially date back to 1919 but do you know about their earlier predecessors, Leeds City FC?
Don Revie brought success to Leeds like they'd never seen before. First Division titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup found their way to Elland Road.
Leeds have been managed by Don Revie, Brian Clough, Jimmy Armfield and Jock Stein!!!
In this video I explored why so many clubs "hate" Leeds. I met a really cool fan at the end who was at the controversial 1975 European Cup final vs. Bayern Munich.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Leeds, the passion of the fans is incredible and it’s something you don’t often see with the bigger clubs. They stick with the club no matter what, there are no fake plastic Leeds fans. Even when the club was down in League One and suffering financial troubles, the fans still stuck by the club and packed out Elland road.

I'm a Rangers supporter but I loved Leeds too when I was a kid. So much so I can reel this off right now without even googling..........Sprake, Reaney, Cooper, Bremner, Charlton, Hunter, Lorimer, Clarke, Jones, Giles and Gray.

Leeds had a large amount of Scottish players in the seventies . There were a lot of Scottish flags and you were either Celtic or Rangers. Always Rangers for me !!

As a life long Leicester City fan I consider the Billy Bremner/Johnny Giles team one of the greatest I have every seen. Were they physical? Yes, they were. However, that shouldn't overshadow the fantastic football they played. I certainly don't hate them!!
That Leeds team was probably the first super team to stay at the top for 10 years with the same playing staff is a tremendous achievement.
All football teams were physical in those days. I reckon Chelsea were the worst with Chopper Harris but due to them being London based the press never called them out. I reckon Leeds just gave as good as they got and because they are northern the London press lapped it up.
I'm a Tottenham supporter since 1981/82 - but this doesn't stop me from being fascinated by this video. The Howard Wilkinson years remain imbedded in the memory.
As a lifelong Chelsea fan (pre-Abramovich) the obvious catalyst was the 1970 cup finals, two matches of, pretty much, unadulterated violence. If you consider the quality in BOTH sides was remarkable. Michael Oliver in the Daily Reactionary (sorry Mail) said that he would have given out 11 reds. This wasn't the beginning of course Chelsea and Leeds had amazing teams at the time both with a lot of steel in them, and both with, for want of a better word, "rabid" fans, even in games not involving Leeds we would still chant we hate Leeds in the Shed.
I didn't go to my first game until '74, so my knowledge of the roots is second hand but I can say from the perspective of both my generation and the older generation of fans there was genuine hatred (I don't condone the violence, merely observe) which clearly was reciprocated. That obviously manifested itself in plenty of violence off the pitch too further stoking the rivalry.
That went off the boil with the nadir brought on by the rebuilding of the East Stand and Chelsea not being competitive and then Leeds getting broken by the overspending of the 90s and 00s, Just as Chelsea was getting bankrolled by Abramovich. Here I will say something controversial both clubs owe a debt of thanks to Ken Bates, a highly divisive figure who put both clubs on a better path than when he bought them.
And the final inflammatory statement from a nigh-on 50 year Chelsea fan, I'm glad Leeds is back, I am disappointed that Bielsa got sacked and I hope that Leeds thrives in the Premiership. Clubs like people are defined by their competitors and a rivalry of that magnitude needs to be preserved (in the right way) and we can sing of our mutual hatred, watch our teams (not) kick seven sorts of shite out of each other and have a bloody good day out. So here is one Chelsea fan hoping that Leeds stays up (I still bloody hate ya though !!)
As a Leeds fan of over 50 years thanks Jay Phillips I think there's a mutual respect of the fans Leeds and Chelsea despite the hate on the terraces I was there in 70s and 80s blood bath a true Northern, Southern rivalry 👍🏻
As a Leeds fan I agree with what you say but what still annoys me is that Leeds were given the Dirty Leeds tag. In my opinion and having been a fan during those times it was Dirty Chelsea as much as Dirty Leeds. I think the London based press helped to add that stigma to Leeds but as you say its a shame because both teams had exceptional talent.
Same here Jay, Chelsea fan who wants Leeds to stay up. Always great to play them. I was 9 in the 70 final but remember the game and replay so clearly and always respected Leeds and their fans.

Bielsa changed us almost overnight from the most hated team to the neutrals favorite. I hope Jessie Marsch can continue with the attractive attacking style but tweak it ever so slightly . I certainly don't want Leeds to be parking the bus like many other teams do .

I've been a Leeds fan since the Chelsea cup final in 1970. I grew up on the edge of Leeds though I was born in the South West. Leeds and Revie were hated I think because of their sheer professionalism. They played just as much skillfull football as anyone else. In the late 60's-mid 70's it was Shankly's Liverpool and Revie's Leeds, as the two best teams in England year in year out. Leeds didn't win half of what they capable of, and were NEVER given the benefit of the doubt by the London media or referees. Leeds dragged English football into the modern era, supporting Leeds is a privilege. MOT.
Eddie Gray was just as good as Best back then. Best got the attention from the press because of all the women chasing him. Think Revie would have made Best an even better player.
I'm a gooner my other half is Leeds fan born and bred and I've grown to admire their fans and the players who never accept defeat and push them selves.... Perhaps too much... All the injuries this season has been so unfortunate I hope they stay in the premier league I couldn't bear to see other half sad face
Leeds Where highly regarded in Glasgow 1970s it was every other person’s English team, From the 1960s till early 2000s there was a Leeds United Boys Club in Glasgows East End Until the death of the coordinator Jimmy Mcginley passed away, He told me 5 of his boys played in World Cup Finals Tommy Coyne Ireland, and 4 for Scotland, I hope someone knows who the Scottish Capped Where

People forget the Revie team had something like 18 internationals in their squad. A lot more than aggressive tactics.

2002 World Cup Leeds was a full team of English & Irish internationals with Welsh & Australian too.
I am not a leeds fan,but that was one of the best teams in english football history.
the whole squad were internationals. and there were no subs, unless to replace an injured player (And even then only one sub was allowed). revie had to make his players feign injury so they could be replaced. those guys played every minute of every game. with a football that weighed as much as a double decker bus.

I'm from Yorkshire and it was mandatory to hate Leeds United unless you supported them. I remember the Revie era and yes they could be vicious, 1970 FA Cup Final v Chelsea, but they were a skillful side, check out the 1972 league game against Southampton, but sometimes they could be arrogant towards some opponents, Sunderland in 1973 and Colchester in 1971. Apart from being cheated out of the European Cup in 1975 they were also cheated out of the Cup Winners Cup in 1973, I think the referee in that final was banned for life

@@peterbergman2131 They’ll have been over the moon when we unfortunately lost to Coventry in 1987 for FA Cup semi, I was in Sheffield that weekend & at Hillsborough for the match. We almost cried especially seeing the win taken from what was at our feet for the best part of 90 mins then extra time was given for their equaliser. Excellent game, excellent extra time but very sad day for me & thousands more. I managed to attend all the FA cup matches we drew home & away. I’d say Leeds Utd earned their climb to the final what we missed by the skin of their teeth.
Yes, the 73 cup winners cup final was fixed and the referee was, indeed, banned for life.
Great video, enjoyed every minute of it. 47 years since the 75 European cup final, absolutely criminal still hurts today. Went to the semi final at Elland Road, 2-1 victory against Barcelona captained by Johan Cruyff, the place was rocking that night.
Proud to say I was at Bramall lane when we won the championship, just got back home to see Rush score against Man United in a game Liverpool won to hand us the title.
Went to Wembley to watch the Charity shield against Liverpool, amazing day out, partied with the scousers.
Just one more from me, interestingly you missed out the story of why Leeds play in all white, most people think it's because of the white rose of Yorkshire, it's not. Leeds colours were yellow & blue, Don Review after avoiding relegation in his first season decided that he wanted his team to pay homage to Real Madrid who had just won the European Cup for the fifth time in succession. He actually told the playing staff "You might not play like Champions but are going to look like Champions on the pitch"...... obviously the yellow and blue came back into our colours however white remains predominantly our colour.....thank you Real Madrid. 👍

When you list the trophies that Leeds won under Don Revie it somehow doesn’t convey how big they were at the time, as you say they were also nearly men and were runners up so many times in different competitions. They were certainly the most consistent team in England at a time when it seemed that a different team won the League every year (67-75 Man U, Man C, Leeds, Everton, Arsenal, Derby, Liverpool, Leeds, Derby) and I don’t know if we hated Leeds but we certainly feared them, because they were so good. I’m not a Leeds fan, but the Premier League is always poorer without them.

Leeds were without doubt for 10 years the team to beat. If you finished above them, it almost certainly meant you had won the title. If there had been a Champions Lge at that time, though you never really know, it's hard to think they wouldn't have reached a good number of finals and won it a few times. They were feared throughout England and the continent. And Revie wasn't a wheeler-dealer Harry kind of manager. The team didn't change much from season to season. I know it's not easy to compare players from different eras but Lorimer and Bremner, for example, would be worth a fortune now.

Malcolm Allison said that Leeds under Revie were the best British team he'd seen. Yes, they were hard but they were all good players. Norman Hunter was the first ever PFA Player of the Year. Leeds were the first English club to play possession football, they had professional coaches and physios (virtually unheard of then) and were the first club to do their warm up on the pitch (which all clubs do now). The warming up on the pitch was part of the effort to improve their image with the fans, as was the 'smiley' badge.
Yes the _professional coaches_ taught them how to perfect the over-the-ball tackle.

Leeds forever, I’ll never forget that Becchio goal against Millwall I watched on UA-cam turning me into a lifetime Leeds fan. I’m from America and Leeds aren’t huge here, especially where I live. Most of the big teams are Spanish or Man U Chelsea or Arsenal. I didn’t really have a team despite loving the sport since I was very young. I wanted a premier league team to support and I kept watching games to see which team drew me in. I was just looking through old games and found that Becchio goal. It gave me goosebumps and I fell in love with the team. Being the only Leeds fan my friends called me Leeds as a nickname and it’s stuck to this day. Until the world stops going round MOT

Leeds in their day with or without the European cup proper were the best team in the world from 73 to 75. I'm a lifelong fan since 65, other great sides of that era Bayern, Ajax and Liverpool and Celtic.
Don Revie's Leeds has always been a fascinating story, what with his famous dossiers, his superstition, supposed brown envelopes as well as the horrendous refereeing decisions against Leeds United in big games, the lost finals, the style of play etc. However, people tend to forget that although they had their fair share of 'hard men' in the side, most of the players were really good footballers regarding technique etc. That, together with them being a really tight-knit family-like unit, was the reason for their success. Lastly, if I remember correctly the "Dirty Leeds" tag was originally coined by the London Press, which says a lot too.
Yes people tend to forget we had some great players respected the world over, like World Cup winner big Jack Charlton, Peter Lorimer who I think was recorded to have the most powerful shot in football at the time. And of course prior to the glory years we had arguably the greatest ever British player loved by anyone who ever met him, the great John Charles. He used to spend a lot of time in Peter Lorimers pub, and had time for anyone, such a lovely man. I remember when he died the leeds forums were inundated by Juventus fans expressing their condolences.

The game was headline new on the normal news as the players were taken off to cool down. They may have adopted the _Dirty Leeds_ label from the Everton game.

Leeds perfected the over-the-ball tackle. Referees could not see it. In the first season in the 1st division in 1964-65, most players sent off were sent off against Leeds for retaliation.
Leeds played Everton at Goodison Park. Everton's Sandy Brown, in front of the referee, just openly chinned a Leeds player, being sent off of course. Everton, a footballing team, saw its players battling with the Leeds animals. Everton's winger, Derek Temple was stretchered off. He came on hobbling 15 minutes later to make up the numbers as Everton were down to 9 men. No subs in those days.
The referee took both teams off for 10 minutes to cool off. All four sides of the large ground were banging on the wooden double-decked stands decks, and chanting *_Dirty Leeds, Dirty Leeds._* Missiles were constantly being thrown at the Leeds players by the crowd.
The PA pleaded for calm to the fans, and to stop pelting Leeds players. Abandoning the game was unwise otherwise large public disturbance may have occurred. At the end some Everton fans ran on the pitch to have a go at the Leeds players. Police escorted Leeds players off the pitch. That is where _Dirty Leeds_ came from.
No one mourned their demise. When Revie was with club's having to play proper legal football he was useless.
It wasn’t proven that the 1975 European cup final ref was bribed. Though he possibly was
It was actually the 1973 cup winners cup final defeat V AC Milan in Thessaloniki when the ref was proven to be bent.
The 1973 final was a given, as you say, but if you watch the '75 European Cup Final, it is difficult to believe that this match was not rigged as well. Even some of the Bayern players expressed considerable doubt about the outcome after the game.

Although a hard team, Revie's team played great football with a teamsheet that rolled off the tongue.
I think a lot of the 'hatred' of Leeds in their great era up to about 1975 was media-led - that is, London media-led. I think most football fans in the country had a lot of time for Leeds. But what perhaps didn't help was that Don Revie wasn't comfortable on TV interviews, whereas his adversary Brian Clough loved being on TV - and made it clear what he thought of Leeds. And at his peak everyone wanted Clough as manager of their club. During their great era, Leeds only won I think 6 trophies and were runners-up/beaten finalists far too often. Whereas Liverpool generally rarely lost finals.

The 60's and 70's was an era of the physical game, unlike now.
Go have a look at Leeds v AC Milan 1973 final and tell me Leeds were the only ones that played a physical game, they made Leeds looks like angels.

I really enjoyed that, I've been a big Leeds fan since 1970, first game I saw Leeds play was the FA Cup v Chelsea (on the black n white TV) and I thought to myself I'm gonna support Leeds united, I left school in 1975 and went to my first away game atCoventry city on my own and my first home game was v Birmingham city stood in the old boys pen that was in 1977 and I've been trough the mill with them, big wins. My biggest dream was to see my beloved Leeds united play at Wembley bellow the twin towers and I went twice with Leeds wonderful, away games no police escorts at most no like today? 1992 I packed up going due to illness and I'm glad they made it back to top flight football, I hope we stay up marching on together. The Old Peacock has changed it's name temporarily till the end of the season. This happened after his sacking. Reverts back after end of season. A lot of the hatred today is because fans of other clubs wish they had our history, passion and huge following. Other clubs have won more but they haven't gone down for long periods and still come back... to win titles.

Don Revie was far from a big spender. Brian Clough spent more in his 44 days than Revie spent in his entire time. Your research is poor here....Revie was way ahead of his time tactically and team management wise. He brought in advanced scouting, dietary requirements, new training techniques and encouraged a family type atmosphere. His style of play was mixed....very physical until 1970 and after that much more free flowing attacking play. Revie suffered reputation wise due to allegations of bribery and his time as England manager.
Still don’t know why Brian Clough was chosen to manage Leeds United.

But Revie was useless managing teams that did not play Rugby League where you never picked up the ball.

This is why Leeds fans sing champions of Europe, slightly before my time but we are winners by rights the fact it was never overturned after the bribery was confirmed is an one of the biggest controversies in football to this day.
Watching the '75 European Cup Final, it is indeed difficult to believe that the ref wasn't bribed. Some absolutely outrageous decisions, especially the Peter Lorimer goal when the game was still 0-0. Even the scoreboards displayed Leeds 1-0 before the ref disallowed the goal ffs!

Again great video and lots of information. I found out that when Leeds United won Inter Cities fair Cup in 1971, they eliminated my favorite club Sparta Prague in the third round. And Sparta eliminated Dundee United in the second round before. This information that one finds on the Internet are great and permeates the history of many large clubs across Europe.
Great video. Good presentation, however I’m surprised you missed off whilst talking about the ‘Timeline’ the fact LUFC had a full team of English & Irish international’s during 2002 World Cup, there was Wales & Australian too. A phenomenal team back then were Leeds until the unfortunate dramas in court for 3 players finishing off what was an unforgettable brilliant O’Leary era. Worth checking out if you’re not familiar with those particular years.
Thoroughly enjoyable video and very interesting. I'm sure a lot of people will know that Manchester United were originally called "Newton Heath" . I'm not so sure any Leeds fans would be interested in that! I didn't know that Leeds United were once called Leeds City though!
Leeds City were not the only club paying players under the counter during the First World War, but when it first emerged that this had been happening an example had to be made. As Leeds City were the only club outside of the football heartlands it was decided that they would be the scapegoats. It helped that they had won the 1916 World War title under Chapman, so it could be seen that the authorities were taking real action. When Leeds were disbanded the then Chairman and majority holder of Huddersfield Town wanted to merge the two clubs because he felt support in Huddersfield was limited. When this was announced attendances at Huddersfield rocketed and the other Directors at Huddersfield forced him out. He then was instrumental in the founding of Leeds United.

I love your videos pal, but, Revie didn't splash the cash at all, he signed Clarke from Leicester for a decent sum and Jones from Sheffield Utd, but apart from that and maybe Giles he brought the rest through the juniors, very underrated manager
In fairness Mcqueen and Jordan were also signed from St Mirren and Morton respectively also they were cracking cheap buys

In fairness Revie probably didnt need to splash the cash too much as 7 or 8 of the main stays of the championship side of 69 were still there in 74.. By that time Hunter, Madeley, Reaney, Cooper Giles, Bremner were all 30 or over and Jones and Clarke approaching 30 But they were a great side and deserved to win more
My family have been Leeds fans for as long as i can remember. The generations of both sides of my family stretch far back into the early days of LUFC. My journey with the team has only just begun however the sheer awe i get from the times they play is unspeakable. I work at the grounds in hopes of hearing the electric atmosphere without needing the precious season tickets everyone wait so long for. Our fan base is unlike any other I've seen before and i am privileged to say that i am a fan of the ones you call 'Dirty Leeds'. Within this video you suggested we appear safe however many fans are now looking behind their shoulders in fear. No matter what tier we are in, i will continue to follow Leeds and their everlasting story. MOT

Hey Sam. Leeds Utd had a huge following in Scotland, ... myself included, for the 1974 World Cup in Germany. You need to be aware that back then, seven of the first choice Scotland side played for Leeds. Goalkeeper David Harvie, Billy Bremner, brothers Frank & Eddie Gray, Gordon MacQueen, Peter Lorimer and Joe Jordan. We had a decent side back then, at a time when England didn't qualify - courtesy of a missed tackle by another Leeds player - Norman Hunter - leaving Brian Clough with egg on his face for predicting England would win by "three easy goals," and calling the Polish goalkeeper Jan Tomaszweski "a clown" before the game. Remember listening to the radio commentary with my Grandad, ... "and Hunter's got to make this tackle ...!"

Wow, cheese dip, you really take these things personally. The fact is, that the video is covering the history of the club and not just three matches in 1972.
It is a fact that they did have the tag of 'dirty' Leeds in the seventies., a reputation which was further enhanced by Brian Clough during his famous interview with the Don, where Brian reminded Revie that his club had been top of the disciplinary table as well over the past 13 years.
I also remember the game against Man Utd and Southampton, and would agree that they could be highly impressive when they wanted to be. Sadly, I also remember the Charity Shield match where Bremner and Keegan got sent off, and Johnny Giles miraculously didn't.
Personally, I always rated Billy very highly and it is a shame that sometimes his reputation overclouded his brilliance as a player.
This vlog did you a favour in not mentioning the famous 'bung' scandel and the fact that it was one of your own former players (Gary Sprake) that made the claims in the newspapers back in the late 70s.
I was expecting this vlogger to actually talk to more of the supporters about such things, but I can see that quite wisely he visited on a day when Leeds were probably playing away somewhere. Also finding people old enough to remember the Leeds hey-days would be something of a challenge.
As for the film/book 'Damned United,' even Cloughies wife and sons didn't care much for it.

very interesting and entertaining, looking forward to see more. As a Leeds fan it was interesting to see a non Leeds fans' perspective on some of the history. Of course Leeds were a dirty team but every top class side at the time had hatchet man defenders and "combatitive" midfielders, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Derby all had their fair share, they really could play as well though. Clough called them all cheats and all their medals were worth nothing, it was more that and players reacting to that accusation that led to him sacked after 44 days, no denying his managerial prowess of course, his record speaks for itself but it wasn't the best thing to say to a group of international stars. Really good video, your enthusiasm for the history of football really shows. Although being a Leeds supporter for over 60 years I am a little biased but the tag " Dirty Leeds" is a bit unfair. Under Don Revie we were a hard team and we had, like most teams, players who were tough and wouldn't take any nonsense. We also played fantastic football and were one of the best teams in the world, never mind Europe, between 1969 and 1975. I think there was a certain amount of jealousy as we were so successful, and the " Dirty Leeds" term came from that.

One of the funniest chants I heard at the KC was from Leeds fans; "you're just a town full of Leeds fans, town full of Leeds fans. Your just a town full of Leeds fans..."
The funniest was when Arsenal came to Hull after promotion to the top flight and rather boringly (Londoners after all) chanted, "who are you? Who are you", to which the City fans sang, "we know who we are! We know who we are! City of culture, we know who we are!"

I was most interested in your video, particularly your mention of Leeds City and Herbert Chapman. My late grandfather, Norman Lees, and his brother, Frank Lees both played for Leeds under Chapman and, when Chapman moved to Huddersfield he invited them to join him (they didn't). I also knew Mr. Revie and all the 1964 team that he took to the FA Cup Final against Liverpool in 1965, as Norman regularly took me to the ground on training days. Are you able to shed any light on the Chapman era? I would be most intrigued.
How was revie in person? I'm 15 so was never alive when he was do he's almost like a mythical creature/God to me as a leeds fan
@@dominicbarstow1450 Mr Revie was a very kind family man. He was firm and his squad had to play under his rules. He lived modestly and was always tremendously professional. He believed in his players and, most importantly, they believed in him. Few, if any, players left the club during his tenure. I have an enduring respect for the man and for his values.

What he missed out is Donntook Leeds to 5 European finals The referee actually admitted he took a bribe !! This was spoke about 3/4 years ago in the European courts where over 350,000 signatures were presented to award the team the Award 45 years on !!!! What an atmosphere Leeds has !! can match any stadium in the world !

The European cup robbery was Bayern Munich's first. Even some of the former Bayern players admitted they knew the ref was bribed. They should be retroactively be stripped of that title and it be given back to the rightful winners.

I was born in 69 unfortunately a Villa fan but the dirty Leeds moniker was attached in 70s under Don Revie very successful management that brought previously unknown trophies and if they weren’t winning them they were always runners up or at the business end
Cloughie was a particular Leeds hater but in the 70s apart from the FA cup or Scottish cup finals live you only got one hour of highlights on Match of the day so whether they were “dirty” or not is open to debate as the only ones who saw live football ⚽️ was the fans at the grounds.
I’m sure all of my age can recall the pitches being 6 inches deep in mud and in those days football was a hard physical contact sport, unlike today when if someone farts 💨 in the general area of these pansies then down they go, so as football is now a non contact sport like basketball 🏀 Leeds are not a dirty team like everyone else.
Sure Leeds had Norman “bite yer legs” Hunter but other dirty hard men Chopper Harris and Tommy Smith spring to mind and I’m sure all teams were just as physical as Leeds back in the day.

Great video. Only thing I’d like to add which I think as been misinterpreted is how actually good the Revie era squad was. Yes they could dish it out when needed, they could also play. Technically they were brilliant, players like Eddie Gray, Johnnie Giles, Billy Bremner, Paul Madeley, Alan Clarke & Terry Cooper to name but a few. Every side in that era had their hard men. Leeds had Norman Hunter to name just one, it was a different game back then. From 1968 - 1975 Leeds were one of the top club sides in the world.

hi great video video of my home town club , however its little soon to predict safety in the prem this season , i am not holding my chickens until certainty , the biggest matches i ever went to involving leeds were the fa semi vs coventry at hillsbrough (1987) and the play of final vs Charlton (1987) home leg back then the final was over 2 legs but it went to 3rd match sadly leeds lost . loosing both matches in extra time.

The hatred from so many rival club’s fans is a credit to Leeds Utd. It’s always comes down jealousy really, wether that be because their club lost to Leeds, it’s a rival city thing, they envy its popularity or fandom ect

The classic Leeds team played terrific football and their reputation as a 'dirty' team' was thoroughly deserved.
Most teams then 60s/70s, had a few tough players but Leeds had a squad full of them.
The only reason they did not win more trophies during the classic period was the inate caution of Don Revie.
Cloughie had their number!
Your entusiasm and history knowledge is great. You clearly love the history of football, and I enjoyed your film of my club. You're also a closet Leeds fan, most are (haha), and most look on at Leeds in envy, which they like to disgiuse as "hatred". One criticism though, is you use a Hollywood fantasy film to base some of your knowledge of why Leeds are "hated" and even recommend it to others if they want to find out about Leeds' history. It's not an accurate portrayal of Leeds United, Don Revie, or Brian Clough. Leeds never had a rivalry with Derby, nor Brian Clough during those years. Clough might have hated Leeds but it was never reciprocated, until he came to Leeds and told the players to thrown their medals in the bin (that bit was true). The film portrays Leeds' players as arrogant thugs, nothing could be further from the truth. A brilliant team consisted entirely of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh internationals, who played hard like every other team in that era, they were just better. But Leeds really became hated in the late 70's and 1980's when the fans seemed to riot at every away ground, always making the headlines and being feared and condenmed in equal measure. All that is forgotten now, and the film the Damned United is what everybody bases their "knowledge" of Leeds on. Well done on the film though, I've watched a few of yours now. Keep going.
If you go back to Leeds there is also a huge mural of Kalvin Phillips, Lucas Radebe and Albert Johanneson not far from where you were to start the video. Massive Bielsa murals a bit further out of the centre too
