Like literally not even 0,00000001% possible to pull something like that off, & zero performances like that exist in music today, & there's some supernaturally fast drummers these days. There are other moments on the album too. This one being the most obvious. Only way i'm wrong is that they did some weird editing magic for that song, or it's too shitty quality to hear 100%(not convinced). I just watched, & there's live clips of Dave playing the song during that era, & he's got 2 bassdrums. I think he may be the only guy that I’ve heard who can play Bonham with such a similar voice. Both had/have swing. John Bonham brought it to rock and is one of the most instantly recognizable styles in the genre. Dave did just the same with Metal and I’d argue that his sound is the most recognizable I. The genre. They both defined drums for their respective genres. Many would argue they’re the quintessential drummers of their genres. I’d certainly say that of Dave. Anyway, he truly nailed this.

I love Dave but his drumming style fits Slayer better than Led Zeppelin. It's not about him being a bad drummer, absolutely not. Bill Ward is also a great drummer but he would hardly fit in in Slayer.
i was 12 when Bonzo died. I was playin drums 4 yrs already and he was my total inspiration. I’m 56 now and i can finally admit that i cried when he died.
Lombardo is one of the best drummers ever and I don't even own a Slayer record. The recording is done right in front of the drums so your not getting the audience sound so it's going to sound a little off. Lombardo is never off. He's a living master.

I grew up listing to Lombardo develop his technique to become the drummer he is today. I myself have been playing since the early age of four, as my father was a pro jazz drummer and was one of the lucky one's. 50 years experience..... Louis Bellson was the first drummer to pioneer twin bass drums. He was a jazz drummer. The World of Rock owes a lot to Jazz it appears. It'd be cool for you lads to appreciate this.
Paul Bostaph did a phenomenal job both in the studio as well as on the road. Sure. Dave was the Steve harris of slayer but on the drums. Slayer made divine intervention and that alone was amazing. Dont take everything away from Tom, Kerry and Jeff. They still had amazing performances and it's the music that counts. Yeah bill ward should have been on the final tour with sabbath. Mike Bordin filled his shoes well. The music was right on. Geezer and Tony can drive that band and mesmerize also

Not the first time I've seen Dave struggle with a slower tempo song. Just goes to show, this jam is 10x harder than a lot of the faster stuff he usually plays (and make no mistake, I love riot music). Shows the biggg difference in musicianship between someone like Dave and someone like Portnoy or Marco Minnemann.
This video makes you want to play drums! It's great!! But (correct me if I'm wrong) the power of Bonzo does not come from the kit only. It comes from the ambience too (reverb + compressor) and that Green Sparkle kit (wood) works more for ambience as well.
Tone comes from your touch. I can play behind someone else n not touch anything. It will sound different. When u n your instrument become one is where the magic is
