I found this by chance. Though I'm not generally a metal fan, the juxtaposition of cultures here absolutely fascinates me: Young women. From Indonesia. In hijab. Playing heavy metal. At a music festival in Germany. To an audience representing a wide range of age, gender, culture, country (note the guy with the Mexican flag), style, and more. Not to mention, their skill as musicians is undeniable. Respect!
thats what metal is about, bringing everyone together, yeah we may look mean and gruff but we're actually the nicest people out there. I'm happy af to see metal transcending cultures and boundries, these women rock and hard.

The Indonesian rock band, Voice of Baceprot or known as VoB, will hold a concert at the Glastonbury Festival 2024, England. Voice of Baceprot is the first Indonesian band to appear at the biggest music and arts festival in the world. The official Glastonbury Festival website revealed that VoB's gig schedule will be held on Friday morning, June 28 2024 on the Woodsies main stage.
These three awesome young musicians remind me of what Jimi Hendrix said : “Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.”

Their fanbase gets larger every day. They now have 300,000 new Uncles, and 700,000 new grandfathers enjoying their music and protecting them worldwide. 🙂

They’re saying she breaks the mold because due to her religion, playing metal music and stuff while wearing the hijab is frowned upon in many places. So, the stereotype her image shows is contradicted by her actions and how brave of a move that is to be able to express oneself while representing a religion that looks down upon said actions. They weren’t saying this one group destroys the stereotype as a whole, but destroys what we perceived of the stereotype when seeing their attire.
I'm from Mexico and in my honest opinion they're past representing the world of heavy rock metal, at this point they ae representing a new era of heavy rock metal that we sorely missed for many years so in short they represent the now all over the world ROCK METAL that fans everywhere had pretty much given up on music all together including myself. Rock Metal lives on and it's all thanks to these three amazing rocking souls MSW! Long live Voice of Baceprot!

These 3 sweet girls showed the world that in order to play a role in life, women don't need to accentuate a male character, even in the metal genre (usually highlighting a male character, courage not beauty, ferocity not gentleness and also voice). They still appear with their female character and this is what is meant by gender equality and as a completely independent woman.
"metal usually highlighting a male character" that's a very arguable statement. IMO metal always boasted really great female singers/characters Nightwish, Eluveitie, Evanescence, Guano Apes, Warlock (oldies!), BabyMetal, Slot, Jinjer, Lzzy Hale, Grai, Burning Withes the list can go on. I'm just listing bands where female singers had a lot of leading role, not to mention back vocal singers and not getting into punk rock as well.

Don’t forget Epica🤌 haha. Heard them for the first time opening for Sabaton and they were amazing. Women, I feel, have a very equal stance in metal music as they bring something completely unique and different compared to many male artists. Pretty much solidifying some of them as the greatest to ever do it. Women vocalists are everywhere, and I’ve seen MANY foreign bands have them and it works so well. Especially in folk metal.

No. Garut, West Java is not fanatic, but relatively tolerant and exemplary Muslim area. The real power and value of this band is to show the Muslim world how their girls can flourish and contribute to world culture and progress when they are given freedom to do what they desire. This could never happen in Aceh or Kabul.
Indonesia has many hijaber musician. But they are probably the first hijaber group playing heavy metal genre which is some people have bad perception of it.
