I am a step away from never trying to beat him. I say with no salt whatsoever. It’s made me apathetic. Specifically the second phase. I’ve started to be able to nail the first phase, and I know I can get to the point where it’s flawless every time, but the amount of time and effort I’ll need to get the second phase down… idk. It’s apathy not anger. I’m tired of what they’ve done with their boss design. The hyper-aggression, reaction, aoe constantly, wait-time mixed with two-shot kill combos, etc. I don’t need to be told it’s possible. I see it. I know this routine. But the boss just isn’t as enjoyable. Hell, I even started to enjoy Malenia once I FINALLY got waterfowl down. This one just let me down. Still the best DLC over ever played though. Update (8 days): Currently on another play-through of Dark Souls 1, still haven’t fought Radahn again. I am more sad that I don’t feel a single shred of regret rather than the fact I haven’t beat this boss. Really enjoying coming back to DS also. Update #2: So, I’ve been thinking a lot about FromSoft games, and I’ve decided for the time being I’m not going to try and beat Radahn. I redownloaded Red Dead Redemption 2 (I want that sort of experience next) and deleted Elden Ring. I’ve had my time with it and it’s an amazing game - truly. A masterpiece that includes another masterpiece… that has some serious fractures, but an incredible experience nonetheless. My thing is, my time with them may well be done, at least for the most part. And That’s okay. Beating the game doesn’t justify the purchase. Enjoying it does. So if anyone else is feeling like me, summon friends, cheese the guy, or stop playing. Whatever is fun for you is valid and nobody can say jack any other way. I’m in my 30s and my other interests deserve the extra attention and frankly give better returns. DS (which I’m about to finish yet again) revealed to me that although the boss design has become an overdone unbalanced mess (imo) in Elden Ring, there are some seriously contemptible design choices in the early games too. DS tries really hard to waste our time but we’ve beat it so many times that we know the drill. Once I beat it - not evening visiting Artorias this time - I’m putting it down. Why: There IS a point where the environments are tedious, where the run back becomes too time consuming. The games do ask too much of us sometimes, and not necessarily in difficulty. Sometimes it’s just damn inconvenient. Tedious. It’s the kind of opinion that I know some folks in the community will be insufferable about, but my life just doesn’t have space for this. It’s a fact that these games are time consuming even at their minimum. It’s not a misunderstanding on my part. Im not doing something wrong. Only one I’ve never beaten is DS2. I’ve spent WAAYY to much time with the others. But… my time is more precious than what this gives me. I have a wife and friends and play guitar on top of work. When I sit down and play games, I’d prefer not to get janked or gotcha’d or in the case of Elden Ring, look at loading screens for 25 minutes in order to get 3 1/2 minutes of gameplay with the boss (repeat ad nauseum to gain more time). I used to be a champion of this idea that it’s perfectly cool to take your time, hit walls and go explore, etc. It still is, but now I don’t see that factor as an attribute beyond positive or negative valence just because it’s part of “understanding the game” as a whole. In fact, as someone who used to do this very thing: it is not okay to use that fact as a cudgel to beat others down who are critical of the game. The amount of time it takes up is something gamers should be allowed to call as negative or positive as relates to their wants and needs AND/OR their own critical perception of the game as a work. The way a game controls a players relation to time is fair game for critique. My intent for writing is a hope for others in my demographic to read and relate and hear that it’s okay to drop games that aren’t satisfying. They aren’t a test of who you are as a person and not finishing them doesn’t mean a damn thing if you decide that for your own enjoyment they aren’t worth the time. I don’t know when I’ll be back to a FromSoft game. I imagine after a while eventually I’ll download Bloodborne or Sekiro. Eventually. But for now, it’s time to put the FromSoft games down. If you made it this far, thanks for listening.
haha i love how i have the same reaction. im mad at how hard it is and complain. but at the end of the day it's still an amazing dlc. Also thats actually how i felt, mastering the first phase with ease but the second is just bs.
Totally know how you feel man. I am not at all interested in another FromSoftware game if they build it on the same 15 year old foundation that started with Demon's Souls. It can't go any further. Radahn was too far. I've gone through that fog wall hundreds and hundreds of times, afraid to start using all of my resources because I still feel like I don't know the second phase well enough to have the slightest chance. Maybe the 30 Rune Arcs I have, or the Golden Vows or a Marika's Blessing would give me the edge. Maybe I could've beaten it by now. And maybe I'll take one of those things and die immediately to a 10 hit stunlock combo. It's not fun anymore, I beat bosses and just breathe a sigh of relief instead of jumping out of my seat and screaming.
I think most people can agree that unlike most fromsoft bosses this one isn't, "Yes i beat the boss." It is more like, "Finally its freaking over." Followed by, "Wtf is this?"
Something I haven't seen a lot of people mention about this boss, if you Dodge away from him, his attacks almost always hit, but dodging towards him to the right or left makes this fight infinitely easier, with the right talismans and that he can barely hurt you
yeah i would agree with that. also making your character light load is also a great way to avoid hits. every no hit run i see on youtube is with that build.
He's the hardest boss but not impossible, I did sub 25 and some tries were fucking around with full DMG boost blasphemous blade dps test, tried once with the greatshield (first attempt) but didn't use it cuz it felt too easy or cheesy. Ended up with my gugs parry tear stance break build@@Voidzy.
Best way I can describe this boss is that mechanically, it feels like one of those hyper-difficult mods where they just spam everything at you to make it difficult. Also he has no personality whatsoever
His first phase i really enjoy fighting minus that three slash combo that i can't dodge, 2nd i could enjoy if i could see whats happening, and miquella's fucking hair does not help
He has two undodgeable attacks actually, the other one is the gravitational spike attack after he pulls you. The attack should be dodgeable and you should be safe if you stay on the middle but unfortunately the hitbox is a giant sphere and the strategy is to run away, same with the Miquella nuke attack.
@@papaq3810you completely missed the point of these games if that’s what you think they’re all about lol. They weren’t hard, they were unique, especially the first 3 titles being so focused on slow deliberate combat. But over time thanks to the misconception that they HAVE to be hard, From’s escalated far beyond what the DS/ER system can handle culminating to this trash fight. They need to fully adopt the sekiro system going forward or make a new one entirely.
it's actually a beautifully optimised fight....4 days of losing but zero rage is a testament to that......I've already beaten him but now at the wanting to humiliate him phase......that is good boss design
Fun fact,if you use cipher pata or other small weapon Miquella's hair blocks you from hitting Radahn. There is no hit box on Miquella and his hair blocks you.
i noticed this with venomous fang. even if i was standing with my head up his ass, some of my attacks were missing. didn't know why it was happening though.
Equip a greatshield, preferably Golden Greatshield. It takes a lot of Radahn’s punishment and doesn’t have an Ash of War so you can keep it in one hand while using your weapons AoW.
I found Rellana more challenging than Melenia, consort Radahn is on entirely different level of bullshit. Simply peak of artificial difficulty, made for AI, not humans.
I'm split on it. I feel like he is mechanically harder. But I had a much harder time with first time Malenia, Midir, Nameless King, and even Kalameet than first time Consort Radahn. But that is just my experience, and it being painted by over time increasingly reaching a point where it is hard for a single lockable point boss throwing melee attacks to be a threat. It is the other stuff they do that counts to me. But in any event he is over hyped by a lot. It like an old fishing story. The fish, or how hard the hard boss is, keeps growing in the retellings. Hardest boss in souls+ is clearly Sony. They've kept me from killing a single Bloodborne enemy.
He’s definitely difficult but his fighting style complimented mine and I had a lot of fun with him. Someone said staying close and hugging his hip isn’t an engaging fight and is considered cheese, so people will say everything besides naked fists is cheese. I wouldn’t be mad if they made the second phase a glass cannon instead of nerfing his moves.
I've beaten him twice in NG +5/6 solo after a million attempts and this has been my experience so far. I think overall this boss is extremely hard, but relatively fair save a handful of moves. Initially I was on the hate train but with enough time and deaths I've come to learn that most of his attacks can be telegraphed with enough practice. One of the two things that do prevent this boss from being enjoyable is that one cross slash attack. It is practically undodgeable without an atomically fast reaction time which is nonsense in my opinion. I understand this is the final boss and it should be brutal, but that move is just plain unfair. A Boss design is flawed if you need to change load or build just to accommodate for one of its attacks. I think to reprimand this issue they should merge the first two attacks together into a cross slash like the third attack in the combo - essentially turning it into a double cross slash. My second gripe is the light beams. Though it is cool conceptually, it is more of a visual hinderance and an annoyance that completely depends on the RNG of your placement to determine whether you dodge it or not. I think if they AT LEAST removed the stagger it would be way more viable to deal with. If it wasn't for his awesome soundtrack and arena I would've probably folded in my first playthrough lol. You need to be a masochist to take this thing on and emerge victorious with your sanity still in tact.
I learned phase 1 in 40 tries and learned phase 2 in 50 tries. Then I started having a lot of fun until I realized that this is artificial diffuctly the boss. Big swords with hitboxes STILL longer than the sword, undogable double swing, un-poise able attacks like how I keep getting stunlocked into 4 attacks cause miquillas light bull.
Make the first phase a little more tanky and instead of nerfing his moves, make phase 2 a glass cannon taking 2-3x the damage he currently takes. Keeps the challenge of the fight, rewards the small punish windows, and with a tankier first phase the fight is still the same duration.
Did the interns make this boss? Rehashed assets from the base game, and his phase 2 is just rehashed animations from phase 1 but just add light pillars on every attack.
A lot of bosses in the past gained aoes on their attacks in second and third phases, while keeping mostly the same attack patterns. Lady Maria, Abyss Watchers, Gael, even fuckin Bayle gets huge lightning effects on hit. Only It’s never been as oppressive and unclear as PC Radahn. The lack of clarity and crackhead energy make it impossible to get anything other than a basic attack off after dodging an entire feature-film length combo. Let’s not even start on the janky holy spells, fake attacks, and frame drops. PC Radahn’s difficulty feels very cheap and 60% of deaths are undeserved. When the best build involves rot, bleed, AND a great shield, I think you’ve gone a little too far from.
Not really. There's a difference between a boss that's "hard" and "hits hard". His two phases have the exact same moveset, except in the second phase his old moves now have positioning requirements and the new flashy moves require simple non-roll dodges like sprinting. The only thing hard about this boss for me is the damage and that double slice that comes out too quickly. I swear, all his moves have three to one-shot potential, Scadutree Blessing or not. Personally not a fan of this boss. It's just a really hard-hitting DS3 boss, and I feel as though FromSoft has already surpassed that sort of quality. I don't like hard bosses, I like complex bosses.
Beat him first run ng7 with mimic. Second run doing solo. Still havent got him to under 20% health. Seems like when i have a good run he will either pull out his air clone attack with no wind up which staggers me for the rest of the combo and i die, or he does his undodgeable 3 sword slash combo with no wind up and i get stun locked into the rest of it and die. Happens constantly and feels predictable. Not fun
I was replaying some old games to kill time til the DLC release, after I shield poke Radahn what I felt is just 'finally this is over and now I can play other games now' this is the first time I've been forced to abandon builds I like alone with my pride. I'm not a streamer or content maker who have both time and mold to die a thousand times just to memorize all the movesets just shield poke radahn if you want this boss doesn't deserve any of your respect
For me He is by far the hardest boss in any 3D game if you don't summon and don't use greatshield poking. I've beaten Doom Eternal on Nightmare, both Jedi games on Grandmaster and tons of soulslikes, the toughest one was Lies of P especially Laxasia. I didn't play Nioh and Monster Hunter games though but I doubt anything in those games trump Radahn.
@@lucabarnardo6613 Oh yeah, absolutely. The moment you see a youtuber no-hit him, his difficulty drops a lot, since you know what they know for certain is a safe opening.
Best piece of advice I can provide is to use a Greatshield, preferably Golden Greatshield. If you can’t dodge quickly enough, the shield can absorb a LOT of his punishment. Along with this, I used the Nagakiba equipped with Chilling Mist because Frostbite is probably the easiest weakness to exploit. I finally beat him after ten thousand million tries and I will never fight him again.
And I thought Malenia wasn’t fun to fight. Consort Radahn is just not fun for me. I thought Messmer and Midra were hard but great. This just feels like a mess, which is unfortunate since it’s awesome in every other aspect.
I cant get it, i just cant. Its amazing how hard it is for all the bad reasons, it doesnt feel like a fun challenge anymore, it is more like a try over till getting the golden rng for me to beat it. I dont want to farm more, i dont want to get skibidi fragments or shiet, it is amusing how everything else on the dlc can be beaten in a fun and more fair way than this boss. Im not enjoying it, i just wanna beat it just to say i beat it and nothing else.
The problem with this boss is the stupid holy light on second phase... the light realy annoying... cant see properly... the movement set got no problem its problem when i cant see the next move... i got problem with the blinding light... if they got toned down abit... and that stupid miquella hair.. realy annoying
Fuxk this boss I can walk away peacefully knowing I beat every boss in the base game and dlc except consort radahn and miquella fromsoft yall can have it 🗣️ skill issue my ass 💯💯💯
You can never then claim you beaten the dlc what you gonna turn back hide like b after all these battles all this pain when you were given the ultimate test you broke at the very last test
@@Amin-ij6mi and thats perfectly fine, bro had the self-respect and standards to walk away. I was stubborn enough to follow through and beat him twice, and both times i was left with a sense of apathy and feeling like i just wasted my time.
The biggest thing I've seen with beating this boss is using parry to buy yourself time or to push his health down. He has a pretty consistent window for a few of his phase 1 attacks where you can force him down. I managed to get him to phase 2 consistently with it. Granted you need to parry him three times to get a critical hit in, but it's possible.
I needed exactly 67 attempts to beat Malenia and honestly that fight was a pleasure. It really felt like I was dancing, especially once I got semi-decent in avoiding the waterfowl. I could also get to phase 2 in about 1/4 of my attempts even if initially I was only getting there in 1 out of 6. With Radaquella I could reach 2nd phase in about 80% of attempts. The first phase also felt like a dance but it was far, far easier to manage. I got to the 2nd phase for the first time in my 2nd attempt. So I was sure he'd take me far fewer attempts. ... I was wrong. 163. It took me 163 attempts due to how bs the 2nd phase is. I think there are 3 moves in this fight that are a problem: 1) 3 hit cross slash (both phases). It's nearly unavoidable without light rolling or specific builds. If only the 1st and 2nd attacks were timed for one or two rolls like many other attacks are this move wouldn't be a problem. Maybe require rolls in different directions? Spice it up a bit but not make it nearly unavoidable. 2) Gravity pull followup (phase 2) and how it activates (both phases). Gravity explosion, clone attack chain AND another explosion? Really? Yes - you can roll away from it if you get the timing perfectly but this'll require a lot of distance - I've run into a wall more than once rolling away from it and this can easily get you killed. Other problem is that Radahn can activate pull even at point blank and even if you dodge that he'll still do a followup. 3) Gravity Meteor (phase 2) - It's not as bad as the two above but after failing to dodge it several dozen times I've looked it up and tried to do what others do... And I still got inconsistent results with dodging that one. Sometimes it worked like on videos of other people and sometimes the light clones still hit me no matter how far I ran away/jumped/rolled. Next time I reach him in NG+ I'll try to just use The Wall build.
I’ve been stuck for a week with mimic tear on a strength bleed build with a great shield. I’m doing everything right in the first phase and I’m at scadutree 18 ng+ level 180. I really don’t know what else to do but get more health or defense I just can’t dodge phase 2 with his combos that end in the aoe slam especially if he starts phasing since that shit lags out my ps5. I just want to win at this point I hate this boss so much that victory will feel hollow now that I’ve had to respec so many times against him
at this point the only way to win is to equip some good health tailsmans and a health Flask of Wondrous Physick. Also I did watch tutorials on the second phase but i used them as a reference because a lot of times what they do, i couldn't replicate. so i just kept rolling left to right in order to confuse the ui. hope that helps and i believe, keep going!
Kinda sad I missed pre-nerf consort radahn. But post-nerf I really think melania is stronger. The difference is that you can just bring a shield to the radahn fight and that makes it not so bad, but you can't shield spam against melania.
@@zlbm0Flashbang, almost impossible to dodge double slash combo (second phase is worse, he pulls out that move and you can’t even recover because miquella’s light attacks stuns you so if you get caught in that 90% of the time you’re dead), super aggro + gigantic health pool, radahn doesn’t even speak + ending cutscene is anticlimactic, lag, second phase begins too early, + I have no idea what the fuck radahn is even doing because of the visual vomit and miquella’s fucking hair. Just tweaking the second phase to start at 40% or even 50% health would already be a massive fix but nope.
@@masamasa191 ok lets get this straight away, big health, big aggro and “radahn not speaking” (idk wtf that complaint even is because most bosses dont and in the lore hes being mind controlled by miquella) are not flaws with the boss whatsoever. Also Radahn gives you many healing and attacking opportunities throughout the fight so he’s actually not that aggressive compared to some bosses. The ending being anticlimactic has nothing to do with the boss itself. Second phase beginning too early is not a flaw either, those are all just personal things you dont like about it. I agree with the double cross slash, though if you always strafe to his left you can dodge it consistently but you shouldnt have to play like that to do that. The rest of his moveset is very fair, and personally was extremely fun to learn. The holy damage only prevents your vision if you position yourself poorly, if you roll in the proper directions then it never really gets in your way. The lag complaint is completely fair, personally though I only lagged at his giant aoe so it never killed me. Miquella’s hair can get in the way, I agree with that, especially if he decides to turn 180° with a fast slash. The best way to deal with it though is stick to his side where you can see the front of him.
@@zlbm0 Okay, I see your point on Radahn not being able to speak due to him being mind controlled, but then that still wouldn’t add up due to literally everyone else bewitched by miquella being able to speak. But yes, this is totally me being subjective as it has nothing to do with the mechanics. I definitely do think that the second phase should be pushed back to a lower hp percentage to give less skillful players a chance at beating him. He’d still be incredibly hard. His moveset is fun, but only in the first phase. Incredibly satisfying to dodge/parry. But he is VERY aggressive. Yes, if you position yourself correctly and know the right timing, it is possible to heal. But you have a 50/50 chance of dying if you try to summon because his cooldowns after combos are still not long enough. Every other boss gave you a big window to summon. The big health bar is a problem imo too. Bosses like Fire Giant having a big health bar make sense because he’s gigantic and hits slow too. If you’re going to make a fast hitting boss, make it small or at least average. His hit boxes are wack too. IMO with a few tweaks, this boss fight could be peak. Just take away double slash, lessen the health pool by just a bit, and push back his second phase a little later and you have greatness.
@@masamasa191 yeah fair enough. I would personally change the cross attack, change the hitbox of the sword (its really bad, its much wider than the sword itself), try to optimize the lag and maybe try and make miquella’s hair thinner. You do have a point that Mohg (for example) was still able to speak after being mind controlled. But still, there are a lot of bosses that dont speak. On top of that, I think its supposed to be Radahn soul in Mohg’s body, and Radahn became a husk after the incident in Caelid, and he didn’t speak to you there either. Personally, I think it makes him more intimidating anyways.
If you're going dex/arc build then I would recommend the Milady. Its very good against Consort Radahn and has fast animations to avoid his punishes. It also has bleed and an interchangable ash of war which is very nifty.
It's weird that he wasn't punishing you for backing away and healing. With me, he's relentless. I wonder what makes him not charge you aggressively. There has to be a reason with how he's programmed.
The only thing I have to say after beating him is it’s hard to see from his hair and blood slash. And I hate the light speed slashes because I had a hard time to dodge them lmao
From a perspective of a player that never played a souls game before ER, I thought the Elden Beast and Malenia were harder, but that's bc elden beast actually felt insourmountable for like 2 weeks even with Mimic tear and for Malenia I had to actually watch guides and practice waterfoul and the projection attack from her. I started the DLC on NG+ or ++, so I was doing less dmg and getting more dmg than players who do it on a new game, also I did him with only 12 scadutree blessings and no summons, but it only took me 4 days or like 8-10 hours. Also after learning it, it doesn't feel unfair, instead it's really fun. I just have some complaints about the second phase gravity pull and I guess if you can't block with your weapon, you probably have many attacks that you have to tank head on, which feels unfair (but waterfoul feels still more bs imo) It's kinda difficult to gauge tho, since I have 200 more hours than wehn I beat Malenia the first time and like 5 more playthroughs. I'd say maybe a player that only plays the game once might find Renalla as hard as Malenia and Radahn way harder. EDIT: One think that I can recommend every struggling player, no matter the boss, is to have the tankiest build you can afford to medium roll in and use the winged tear and opaline hardtear to learn a boss. And obviously get at least 60 vigor. Once you stop getting killed a lot and instead can fight longer and learn the moves, you start learning much easier and it's less frustrating
He is probably the hardest in the franchise, but it ends here. People are, in my eyes, overhyping him too much. Not saying he is easy; he is the only boss who took me 50 attempts to beat in all From games (defeated him without summons/cheese/shield), but personally, he isn't even in my top 5 hardest fight of any game I have ever played; maybe I would put him in the top 10.
If you fight him straight up then yes hes the hardest boss, however there’s dozens of ways to cheese the fight. Isshin from sekiro is still the hardest imo because you just have your katana.
he's tough but I still had a much harder time with malenia, I was far better at the game by the time I faced consort radahn though and Melania played a part in that.... both fights difficulty massively depends on your build though
I like Fextralife info being out of date/wrong here 1:24 . Cuz he’s weak to nothing except Rot and pierce in phase 1. And a holy “weakness” by virtue of having normal resistances to it. Till phase 2 And past phase 1, nothing but pierce.
Ng 7 radahn was the worst, i had to change my play style and use a great shield and respecc to at least 45 endurance to handle those hits for 2nd phase
So for difficulty what is your new ranking after the dlc and what is your ranking of favourite bosses For me its radahn, bayle, messmer and all the base game bosses id have as equal ive never really found malenia hard except once the hardest main game boss for me was aleays mohg though after 2 years of playing the game all tha main game bosses have becom exceedingly easy
i would say radahn would be the best because of how difficult it was, then messmer. after that would be lord of frenzied flame, rellana, romina and dancing lion. finally last would be commander Gaius
@Voidzy. have you nit seen bayle yet he is a crazy good fight also no one likes gaius but me personally I'd say radahn though difficult is a shit fight because most of the difficulty comes from the light beams blocking my sight of the follow up attacks and him having 3 similar looking combos with completely different dodge timings and I can't see which one he is doing because the light is in my eyes at least that's how I see it or rather don't see it I guess though I beat him in 2 hours so I really shouldn't complain when I've seen people take 6 to 12
Yeah surprisingly I didn’t come across bayle I need to try that one out. Even though Radahns second phase is a little bullshit. I still like that it provides a unique challenge. You just have to study his moves over and over again. I would of actually tried instead of giving up but I don’t have the time for it
Holy damage negation talismans are what really help with this boss with the golden braid you take something like 10 percent less from it something like that maybe more this makes the lights a lot weaker though this advice is no longer helpful because you have already beat him
i did forget to mention my tailsman. it was the golden braid, dragonchest greatshield, crimson seed and crimson amber. i heard that the greatshield and the braid were essential for this fight
@Voidzy. basically yeah though that surprised me because I take less damage on those lasers with only a haligdrake plus 2 and less physical with a dragoncrest plus 2
Before I watch the video, I'm just gonna say my own take on Souls bosses: Rating the difficulty of a Souls boss is borderline impossible. You can't quantifiably say how hard they are unless you fight them in at least each common way. Consort Radahn seems to be the hardest boss they've ever made, but at the same time he's an absolute chump if you use a shield build.
Basically needs a nerf and ive never said that before... hes basically a cheese boss.plus i have no idea why he hits me so hard.. im lvl 240 and have no idea how you're not taking as much damage as i do
It aint that crazy. Just that a lot of people didnt get the memo that Miquella jumping on Radahns back to spam Holy Attacks was an indication that this is now a Tag Team Battle, and you can now summon without having to commit hardcore gamer seppuku. Miyazakis subtle writing is hard to get. (Sarcasm)
Well I'll go against the grain here. I thought Radahn Consort was a ton of fun and not that marginally more difficult than any other Elden Ring endgame boss.
Just beat him and he was crazy but it wasn’t that bad. People can’t beat it because they make the game difficult for themselves on purpose and complain it’s too hard. It’s their own fault
I assume this is the end of your elden ring journey it was fun to watch though there are likely bosses you missed but you cant get much content from putrescent knight
It looks like it. I was going to do that. Finish all bosses but yeah it wouldn’t be interesting. I’m still trying to figure out what I should make next. I could try some other fromsoftware games.
@Voidzy. I mean the only interesting boss you haven't shown is bayle though for another fromsoft game I recommend bloodborne it's probably the 2nd best behind elden ring though it has no summons so you can't use that if you are struggling unless you summon real people
Nah, mate, been there. It'll eat at you, that you never killed him in fair 1v1 fight. I killed him 1st time using guardcounter build with blocking tear and a shield, wasn't enough. Last time i killed him with great katana on my first try. Took me 4 playthroughs.
Honestly, I really enjoyed Radahn and learning his fight except for one move, his 3 swing cross slash. I never could figure that attack out. Radahn doesn't want you to stay close. Everything about him is to try and make you want to run away. The camera is forced into a low angle to make him seem big and intimidating, he hits hard and people default to wanting distance to heal. And that's how he gets you, mostly in phase 2 where the light beams explicitly punish you for doing that. You have to stay close. You have to engage with The Dance for the entire fight. If you need to heal it's going to cost you a punish window. It's an inteicate back and forth, and it's very similar to dark souls style of turn based bosses, where he has his combo, then you have yours. Hell he even has a ton of parryable attacks, so you can more or less completely shut him down just by parrying him. The only thing I'll agree about him being badly designed is how poorly optimized the second phase is and it's all miquella's fault. Those light beams are not cheap in computing power terms.
Malenia harder iv beat radahn solo 3 times not the last run i was naked. Iv only beat malenia solo once she literally made me use my mimic the 4 other times i fought her.i would 1000000% fight radahn before her
Is the boss really all that hard when you can just cheese him with a broken build though? Same for Malenia. There are builds that completely destroy these bosses without any difficulty.
Well yes because there are many people who make specific builds for a character. Like I have a faith build int build, bleed builds. Ect. I don't have a sheild build so yes he's hard. I'm sure I'll find him easy on a shield build but I don't want to do another 40-50 hours or repeat content for another build and I don't want to to respect my characters with themed names.
It's always up to the players. For the first time I've beaten Radahn with a greatshield and a bleed spear and it felt hollow. It's very braindead gameplay. You only have to pay a little attention to your stamina by not attacking constantly and you are good. That's why I'm trying to take him down without a shield and man...it's the hardest fight ever.
@@rakuriku1149 In my personal experience yes. Though everyones different when it comes to bosses. Radahn is simple however, once you get his attacks down and have a decent handle on his light diarrhea its actually a fun fight.
@@trutyatces8699im sorry you had a seizure, however I think that if you’re prone to have an episode, you shouldn’t be playing Elden Ring. Regarding the PC, well, idk what ti tell you, I play on PS5 and not once had a performance issue. Maybe try adjusting your settings so it can run better? Most of my PC friends didn’t had a crash while playing the DLC
@@TheSoftcoreMonkey Your passive-aggressive dismissals do nothing to tackle these glaring issues. I’m sorry that you are a fanboy, but this fight is not perfect.
How do you have TWO bloodhound's fangs, but you're not at full flask level? Bro's using the Crimson Seed talisman, but won't even upgrade his flasks all the way.
I beat Malenia in 5 attempts. I was overleveled by a fair bit at about 140 though. This guy is another level. He decimates my mimic tear before the second phase and he crushes me in 3 hits max even with 60 vigor lol. I like hard bosses, but is this hard or is the move set actually just cheap as hell?
I think he's gotten easier because they nerfed the dlc but his move set is simple to learn but the hits are just unfair due to the holy damage. you need to have amazing timing or just lucky.
How can you suck so hard at this game? Having such an overpowered build and still failing that much? How is that even possible? Well, i guess it's because of mindless roll spam. And then relying on cheese mechanics like the mimic, SMH... P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C.
But he's not that hard. I'm not even a pro Souls player and I beat him with the Heavy Fire Guardian Greatsword. Definitely the hardest in ER. But there is no need for a Mimic Tear.
So glad you found it so easy. Well done. 👏 You didn’t find him that hard. Most mere mortals do. It’s such a shame you can’t see shit in the bs that is phase 2 and that this ridiculous boss doesn’t stop attacking hardly. Staggering him is hard as he recovers so quick from everything. The most bs boss From has done yet.
NO....why are people having such a hard time with him? i mean sure its hard but his moves are pretty straight forward...took me 30 times or so to figure out everything and then 3 additional tries to kill him
Why do people play Elden Ring as if it was Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne??? Use a fucking shield! I get it they were not trendy 8 years ago but now they are actually awesome!
Why:
There IS a point where the environments are tedious, where the run back becomes too time consuming.

Took the words out of my mouth.
Well he is in fact as hard as they say
yep, i just had to make sure
@@Voidzy. Nothing wrong with a little field testing
First phase is easy. Second one is stupid. It's actually harder for me than they say.
Hmm… nah, pretty easy with a bleed build.
I found Frieda, Gael and Malenia much harder imo but that’s what makes these games incredible- everyone has a different experience
I will never fight this boss again 😂
I'm just gonna shield cheese him. It's not worth it to try to fight him. It's an awful fight.
That is quite common in elden ring
The bit about bot hurting you is untrue
Yep. Tried the staying far strategy. Didn’t work lol
Best way I can describe this boss is that mechanically, it feels like one of those hyper-difficult mods where they just spam everything at you to make it difficult.
Also he has no personality whatsoever
His first phase i really enjoy fighting minus that three slash combo that i can't dodge, 2nd i could enjoy if i could see whats happening, and miquella's fucking hair does not help
haha yeah thats the exact same thing for me. first phase easy. second one can't see anything
He has two undodgeable attacks actually, the other one is the gravitational spike attack after he pulls you. The attack should be dodgeable and you should be safe if you stay on the middle but unfortunately the hitbox is a giant sphere and the strategy is to run away, same with the Miquella nuke attack.

Equip a greatshield, preferably Golden Greatshield. It takes a lot of Radahn’s punishment and doesn’t have an Ash of War so you can keep it in one hand while using your weapons AoW.
No, it requires a shield 😕
Parry or use a greatshield and break his poise.
First phase is not bad at all. Second phase is absolute dogshit and ruins the boss. Its all artificial difficulty
That would be too easy I would only suggest they remove the cross attack and add two new moves.
boss is no fun, beat him twice, second phase is bullshit
It felt good to win. It also feels good to never have to fight him again.
Things arnt the exact same if there are differences just saying
Beat him first run ng7 with mimic. Second run doing solo. Still havent got him to under 20% health. Seems like when i have a good run he will either pull out his air clone attack with no wind up which staggers me for the rest of the combo and i die, or he does his undodgeable 3 sword slash combo with no wind up and i get stun locked into the rest of it and die. Happens constantly and feels predictable. Not fun
I was replaying some old games to kill time til the DLC release, after I shield poke Radahn what I felt is just 'finally this is over and now I can play other games now'
this is the first time I've been forced to abandon builds I like alone with my pride. I'm not a streamer or content maker who have both time and mold to die a thousand times just to memorize all the movesets

this boss doesn't deserve any of your respect
For me He is by far the hardest boss in any 3D game if you don't summon and don't use greatshield poking.
I've beaten Doom Eternal on Nightmare, both Jedi games on Grandmaster and tons of soulslikes, the toughest one was Lies of P especially Laxasia.
I didn't play Nioh and Monster Hunter games though but I doubt anything in those games trump Radahn.
Not only is he the hardest hes also the worst
Waiting for a window to hit? Man you dont know this boss, there is literary NONE. Especially in phase 2
There are many windows. The only problem is the light beams restricting the ability to recognize the gap in enough time
@@lucabarnardo6613 Oh yeah, absolutely. The moment you see a youtuber no-hit him, his difficulty drops a lot, since you know what they know for certain is a safe opening.
The first phase is awesome
In the second phase, I can't see what is happening on the screen.

I was stubborn enough to follow through and beat him twice, and both times i was left with a sense of apathy and feeling like i just wasted my time.
This boss made me crash out
The biggest thing I've seen with beating this boss is using parry to buy yourself time or to push his health down.
I think there are 3 moves in this fight that are a problem:
1) 3 hit cross slash (both phases).
Lol, it is basicly my experience. I can admit, that you are real person
Kinda sad I missed pre-nerf consort radahn. But post-nerf I really think melania is stronger. The difference is that you can just bring a shield to the radahn fight and that makes it not so bad, but you can't shield spam against melania.
Yeah this boss sucks ass. Terribly designed. Hard? Yes. For all the wrong reasons
Elaborate
He's the hardest boss I ever fought in any game I ever played but it was so satisfying when I beat him.
Killed him in my ng+3 let me tell ypu something, it is fucking hard i spent 12-15 hours straight dying.
Same, NG+3 about 10 hours of tries with keen backhand blades
im sorry
ng+7......😓
If you're going dex/arc build then I would recommend the Milady. Its very good against Consort Radahn and has fast animations to avoid his punishes. It also has bleed and an interchangable ash of war which is very nifty.
Radahn in two minutes left, right and ahead , at the end of his attack he use an aoe and stop
He still lives in my nightmares. So yes
It's weird that he wasn't punishing you for backing away and healing. With me, he's relentless. I wonder what makes him not charge you aggressively. There has to be a reason with how he's programmed.
The only thing I have to say after beating him is it’s hard to see from his hair and blood slash. And I hate the light speed slashes because I had a hard time to dodge them lmao
it aint the hardest to beat but hardest to see wtf is going on
From a perspective of a player that never played a souls game before ER, I thought the Elden Beast and Malenia were harder, but that's bc elden beast actually felt insourmountable for like 2 weeks even with Mimic tear and for Malenia I had to actually watch guides and practice waterfoul and the projection attack from her. I just have some complaints about the second phase gravity pull and I guess if you can't block with your weapon, you probably have many attacks that you have to tank head on, which feels unfair (but waterfoul feels still more bs imo)
It's kinda difficult to gauge tho, since I have 200 more hours than wehn I beat Malenia the first time and like 5 more playthroughs.
My fps go down in second phase.
If you fight him straight up then yes hes the hardest boss, however there’s dozens of ways to cheese the fight. Isshin from sekiro is still the hardest imo because you just have your katana.
You can cheese Isshin with the umbrella
Took me like 3 hours, just scarlet rot breath did the job
he's tough but I still had a much harder time with malenia, I was far better at the game by the time I faced consort radahn though and Melania played a part in that.... both fights difficulty massively depends on your build though
The only reason I enjoyed him is because he is hard, but I will admit he has some bs like the cross slashes
So for difficulty what is your new ranking after the dlc and what is your ranking of favourite bosses
For me its radahn, bayle, messmer and all the base game bosses id have as equal ive never really found malenia hard except once the hardest main game boss for me was aleays mohg though after 2 years of playing the game all tha main game bosses have becom exceedingly easy
i would say radahn would be the best because of how difficult it was, then messmer. after that would be lord of frenzied flame, rellana, romina and dancing lion. finally last would be commander Gaius
@Voidzy. have you nit seen bayle yet he is a crazy good fight also no one likes gaius but me personally I'd say radahn though difficult is a shit fight because most of the difficulty comes from the light beams blocking my sight of the follow up attacks and him having 3 similar looking combos with completely different dodge timings and I can't see which one he is doing because the light is in my eyes at least that's how I see it or rather don't see it I guess though I beat him in 2 hours so I really shouldn't complain when I've seen people take 6 to 12
Yeah surprisingly I didn’t come across bayle I need to try that one out. Even though Radahns second phase is a little bullshit. I still like that it provides a unique challenge. You just have to study his moves over and over again. I would of actually tried instead of giving up but I don’t have the time for it
@@Voidzy. I wouldn't say mimic is giving up though I don't use it I don't think it's bad or means you've given up however
Easier than melania is crazy bro
Holy damage negation talismans are what really help with this boss with the golden braid you take something like 10 percent less from it something like that maybe more this makes the lights a lot weaker though this advice is no longer helpful because you have already beat him
i did forget to mention my tailsman. it was the golden braid, dragonchest greatshield, crimson seed and crimson amber. i heard that the greatshield and the braid were essential for this fight
@Voidzy. basically yeah though that surprised me because I take less damage on those lasers with only a haligdrake plus 2 and less physical with a dragoncrest plus 2
Interesting
It looks like 10% but in reality is increases you ehp by far more. Going from 60 to 70 % resistance is not 10% increase in effective hp but a 25 % one
I’m still on my first play through and buddy just hit mimic with a 8k 3 piece, fuck what y’all talking bout
(Sarcasm)
Parrying is really good for this boss
yeah a lot of the builds for this fight is just shields
Well I'll go against the grain here. I thought Radahn Consort was a ton of fun and not that marginally more difficult than any other Elden Ring endgame boss.
I have to fight consort on ng+. As a Greatsword build.
Just beat him and he was crazy but it wasn’t that bad. People can’t beat it because they make the game difficult for themselves on purpose and complain it’s too hard. It’s their own fault
I definitely lost to Malenia way more times than Radahn. It's not even close.
Most cheese boss is like it
I assume this is the end of your elden ring journey it was fun to watch though there are likely bosses you missed but you cant get much content from putrescent knight
When i attack i do a sliver of damage on him. You do like 10x my damage... No wonder he is hard....
He is hard if you don't use endure/shields
He is hard, took me 14 hours to beat him solo
He's hard for miquella
It's never as hard as they say
I had to go light build or i couldn't dodge him
Struggling at lv 190 isn't struggling.
Iv only beat malenia solo once she literally made me use my mimic the 4 other times i fought her.i would 1000000% fight radahn before her
I love this fight and I love the lore behind it
Is the boss really all that hard when you can just cheese him with a broken build though?
L for using mimic tear
No. No where near as hard as some other bosses. Melenia for one is still a tougher fight, bosses like Orphan of Kos or Pontif are much harder.
@@sonicmaster047 pontiff??? PONTIFF??? YOURE SAYING PONTIFF IS HARDER ??????
@@rakuriku1149 In my personal experience yes. Though everyones different when it comes to bosses. Radahn is simple however, once you get his attacks down and have a decent handle on his light diarrhea its actually a fun fight.
@@sonicmaster047 wow a fairly reasonable comment, may I ask how long has it been since you've beaten ds3?
@@rakuriku1149 beat all the souls games in a row earlier this year leading up to the Elden ring DLC, so a few months. Lol.
Took me about 15-20 tries. Only struggled with his second faze
Reccommed deleting your comment as your opinion is irrelevant if you can't spell "phase" 💀
Yes, he’s as hard as they say. No, he’s not unfair, as they say.
When it literally breaks your PC and cannot be properly seen without prompting some seizures, *yes.* It is entirely unfair.
@@trutyatces8699 Nor it does you crying about how your PC can’t keep up with a couple of lights. I’m sorry you suck at the game :(
@@TheSoftcoreMonkey don't know how a fight is fair when there's one move that simply has no way of consistently dodging.
How do you have TWO bloodhound's fangs, but you're not at full flask level?
Bro's using the Crimson Seed talisman, but won't even upgrade his flasks all the way.
"lvl 190"
Me struggling but almost beating at lv 110.
Yes
Dying 457 times is bad, late game elden ring is design bad mmk
Took me 4 attempts to beat Malenia and 5 attempts to beat Consort Radahn.. I faced Malenia at level 320, and Consort Radahn at level 339.
you already peeped the wiki on your second attempt lmfao, your whole video is irrelevant
NO....why are people having such a hard time with him? i mean sure its hard but his moves are pretty straight forward...took me 30 times or so to figure out everything and then 3 additional tries to kill him
Idk how I would’ve done it without parrying
Why do people play Elden Ring as if it was Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne??? Use a fucking shield! I get it they were not trendy 8 years ago but now they are actually awesome!
Yes
