I really appreciate this video. The instructions were very clear, the list of materials was very useful, and this video helped me replace my water pump in less than an hour and a half...and that included test drive and a couple beer breaks. Great work guys!
Thanks for the timely information! I was in the middle of this job and couldn't get the old pump off on my 06 F250 4X4. Your instructions of hitting it side to side with a hammer and putting in a screwdriver to create an offset worked perfectly! Thanks!!!
This is the method that I used. I love all your videos. Especially love the part when you go at the beginning of the video what tools do you need. I know this is an older video I was just wondering do you happen to know what size nut is on the fan? I'm not a big fan of adjustment wrenches. I have a large set of wrenches with standard and in metric.
Thanks for the Video. Thought I was just Replacing a Belt and turns out the pump is bad and your description shows exactly what happened. .. Well its off to go get tools and see if your 15 min video will only take me 1 hour.. lol.. Awesome Thanks again.
When the truck is cold, remove the radiator cap and blast the heat in the cab. Let the truck get up to temperature and keep checking the fluid level in the radiator. If it drops the air pocket has worked it's way out. Top that radiator off with anti-freeze, let it run for a minute until the fluid leve stops dropping. DO NOT rev the motor while you are doing this, it will cause the anti-freeze in the radiator to shoot out of the radiator. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thank you for the video - was very helpful/informative and made the job simple. Turned out, my water pump was fine - truck still overheats and I suspect a huge air bubble in the system. Can't seem to find a good way to purge it. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
hi i took off the bolts first and without take the fan off should this effect me when takign of the big bolt because now that i am doing it the pully is loose but it wont come off. Do i have to put those 4 bolts back on? please let me know asap thx
Unfortunately we do not have a video for your vehicle. We will keep this repair in mind for future videos. Thank you for watching! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts well thanks for the reply, and just thought i would mention to anyone else that has a newer f-150 i have a 2009 f-150 with the 5.4 V8 and i just changed the water pump today by myself and all told was about 2 hours complete job. everything was the same as this video with the exception of my truck has an electric clutch on the cooling fan which has on quick connect wire harrness and one extra nut holding the wire. other then that i will say it was all the same as this video. thanks again very well done video and really helped me out
The fan shroud only has 2 easily accessible bolts on the top, then lifts out fairly easily. Then you have all kinds of room. You have to take both the fan clutch and the shroud out together thou. I wasted about a half hour trying not to.🤠
You would need to remove it before you start the engine. If you have a telescoping magnet you may be able to get it out that way. The should have them at your local auto parts store. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
+nick calderone Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/1A/WaterPumps/Ford/F250-Truck/1AEWP00026?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&ROSA34lYPi0
Once the repairs are made you may want to turn the heat all the way on in the vehicle and let it warm up with the radiator cap off. when the fluid level drops keep topping it off with more anti-freeze until the air bubbles have worked their way out and the coolant level stops dropping. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My pleasure. This marks the fourth video watched from you in order to know how to repair my expedition. Water pump project completed in about 1 hr. Thanks to you! R&R no problems @ all. Your instructional is by far the best with many time saving tips.
+Nathan Dean Thank you for watching the video. If any of our viewers need to perform this repair we offer the replacement part shown in our video. www.1aauto.com/1A/WaterPumps/Ford/F250-Truck/1AEWP00026?UA-cam&CTA%20Comment&ATony
Hmmm... I Have A 2008 Ford F-150 V-8 5.4L 4WD. It Is Wise To Assume That This Should Be About 99.8% Similar In The Repair and Replace Process. I Shall Proceed To Do The Job.
+Ninja Mice Thank you for watching. At this time we may not guarantee this as an exact video, however the process should remain very similar due to the motor being very similar. 1aauto.com
+1A Auto Parts Well I did the job and all went fine. The only difference with mine was that it had an electric fan clutch. All went well, until I realized it wasn't the water pump that was the problem. The problem was the Adjustable Pulley that was no longer working well and was cutting through the engine. Good thing I fixed it in time or I would have to buy myself a new V8 engine. Either way, I learned a lot.
Thank you for watching. There is multiple ways to complete the job. This is what works best for us, however is not the only way you can complete the repair. Please let us know how the repair comes out! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
The hardest part of this job is removing the fan from the water pump itself. He conveniently left that part of the job out. The rest is just basic nuts and bolts. How about you give some advice on how to unscrew that from the water pump shaft?

"Force it into the crack" Not the first time ive heard that phrase. Lord those were some wild times in college
Good video, but I was wondering if it may be easier to remove the pump if the fan shroud was removed first ? Thanks.
You could try to leave the serpentine belt on, break the nut loose and then remove the belt. That might work for you.
This is the method that I used. I love all your videos. Especially love the part when you go at the beginning of the video what tools do you need.

A quick pressure test lets you know exactly where the coolant is leaking from! Nice Job on the video! much props

At ford we would do things a little differently but this process seems so much easier lol

Quick question, on my 1999 Corolla I burp the cooling system to get air out. Is this not required here?
How do you remove the fan is it thread backwards or what which way does this fan go and take it off

My motor sounds good running with no serpentine belt, put new belt on, now I hear rattling, coming from the front, possibly bad water pump ?
thanks this really helped me with my 1st truck stupid water pumps
God bless you for posting this.
You didnt show how to remove the fan and pully. This is the part where I am stuck. Fan shaft bolt will not unthread.

Completed over the weekend! This video was spot on! Thanks!
When you do major work on the cooling system. It is necessary to bleed the system so that the vehicle does not over heat.
