@@_Dougaldog What we know is that Elon loves competition, loves driving down consumer costs and the Model 2 is going to be an explosion in the marketplace. We've also seen some screaming lease deals on the Y this month which would have been cheaper than our Ioniq 5.
Dave, you put a lot of work in here, nice job. For the EV enthusiasts among us this is very interesting, however IMO I think the majority of people just don't care about how much their charge costs, just as the majority of ICE car drivers don't care about how much their petrol/diesel costs. If people were genuinely concerned about the cost of fuel then I'd see far fewer cars in lane 3 of the M-way doing 90+mph. These membership schemes in my view just make things more complicated and add to the reputation of EV charging being too complicated which is putting people off. Which brings me to the video you posted recently about charging to 100%. again people don't care, they were so used to brimming their ICE vehicles they just carry on doing the same with their EV.
Dave, if you own a Nissan it's free to charge at any Nissan dealer. Suggest anyone thinking of doing this, contact the dealer ahead of your arrival, to ensure availability and charge rate.

I live in the Medway area of N.Kent & have been considering switching to an EV for some time. I cannot charge at home & the local council will not allow charging across the footpath so I would almost certainly buy a Tesla. We have only 1 Tesla supercharger nearby and the price there has recently risen. The other fly in the ointment is that petrol has been dropping in price here for the last few weeks and Tesco and many other petrol stations are now priced below 131p per litre. A Morrison’s supermarket less than 2 miles away is charging 130.7 p per litre. This probably means it’s still cheaper to run an ICE vehicle than EV at the moment. !!
Hello Dave We have just booked a move to TOMATO energy. Must be worth a plug on the channel. 6 hours a night @ 5p/kWh and two cheap periods for domestic through the day. The daily subscription rate is also 10p cheaper than Octopus. It's knocked Agile off top spot for us (2.2kw home charging) This will cover 95% of our energy use. Win Win Cheers Stewie

In my area, I only have Geniepoint chargers at 5 locations. The nearest other is Osprey at about 7 miles away. Never heard of them, are they part of one of the groups you covered please Dave?

Thanks Dave. I pay 63p at BP Pulse as a member but this is the only charger available close to my house. I have a Costco in my area too but the cues are always long and not worth the wait. As a non tesla driver, I really want to use a tesla charger but cant find any close to me.

Just back off a 900 mile road trip from the South of England to walk Hadrian's wall and never paid more than 52p kWh for charging, that was an open to all Tesla supercharger at Mour hotel. The rest was 42p on an Ionity subscription, even got a free charge at Ionity Carlisle, I think because it was world EV day. Total cost for the journey was 9p per mile. This ICE stuff is mega expensive by comparison

9p per mile is in the range of an older diesel vehicle cruising and averaging 63mpg at £1.45 per litre. A £1,500 old diesel banger could do that, while having no depreciation and having significantly higher range, without the need to stop for lengthy recharges. In fact, I’ve had a 2010 Mercedes C200 CDI estate that could easily average 63mpg on longer journeys. Those cost less than the mid-term quarterly depreciation of EVs.

My local chargers are charge place as I live in Scotland. My closest big company chargers are 15 miles away. 1 is Tesla open to all. Charge place is 55p kwh our at 50kwh charge. Tesla is 61p peak times, has no membership, and 47p peak times with membership obviously cheaper off peak at 52p no membership and 40p with membership. Is it worth my time traveling to them as cheapest in the area.
Your choice, for some Tesla offer a super super off peak between midnight and 4am ridiculous but stupidly cheap. Depends how often you charge and how you value your time
BP offered a membership at £7.85 per month first month free then they credited your account with £9 per month for 5 months, so totally free for 6 months, but that has suddenly ended

The CEO of Tesla is offering these enticements because of the effect the CEO of Twitter - one and the same person who was raised in apartheid South Africa’s interpretation and exercise of free speech is having on Tesla sales. He has moved the HQ of yet another of his businesses from California - a huge market for Tesla - because of a law he disagreed with that was passed by the state legislature and had nothing to do with any of his business interests. You had a choice regarding drawing attention to these enticements. Your subscribers will make of your choice what they will.

While Dave claims that there is no such thing with ICE vehicles, we know that all car dealers negotiate price off new cars. That’s not credit that you spend with them, but money in your pocket. The Ionity ‘bargain’ deal of paying over £60 a year to get the £0.53 per kWh rate, saving a total of £1.61 on the first year of membership or paying £0.43 per kWh with over £120 in annual membership fee is reflective of the delusion of the whole EV reality. At that rate, EVs are more expensive to run than the car these people replaced.
You’re assuming that EV owners charge their car at those rate for 100% of the time when in fact very few do. Even in the Winter with the heating on and sound system at high volume, I can get 3 miles/kWh so at 7p per kWh that’s just over 2p a mile. I only need to use a public chargers on trips over 250 miles as a top up to get us home.

Thirdly, these Octopus and other EV home charging rates are not guaranteed, you may easily end up with a rate that includes VAT and fuel duty soon, you just don’t consider that the government and the utility company will stop letting you have your cheap home charging. You are high on the freebies that don’t last long, you are trusting those who don’t want us to drive anything, anywhere. Meanwhile, when you leave your home and need to use a public charger, a bit of reality and hint of the future may hit you. Finally, there are EV owners who are exposed to these extortionate prices as they live in terraced houses, flats, rent or for other reasons, cannot charge at home.

I’m not questioning your trust in the official claims about climate, renewables and all the goodness of everyone charging massive batteries on infrastructure that struggles to keep up with kettles during special TV programming. But again, if you think that EVs are a way to escape fuel duty, VAT, road tax and other restrictions for any length of time, you are mistaken. Your smart meter was also a smart move by those who can now control what you charge, how long for and whether you actually can do it.

Teslas dynamic prices are very quick to change since you posted this video Tesla Norwich has gone to 61p peak and 51p off peak for non memebers.
