I have thought that as less people want to do the menial jobs anymore having been told they can be anything, robots will be perfect to do those jobs. As to the jobs they can do, well that is a bigger question. Never needing a break these are an advancement as to what is currently used in factories, but if they have the "human touch" they will then do many of the other jobs. Humans will have to help repair and pamper the robots!

China sell off their product at stupid prices to us. They want to rule the world economy ,and when they do we will have to buy their junk ,as there won't be any competition. They are laughing at our stupidity, trying to get to net zero. If we don't act now it will be too late.

A well maintained ICE car is good for 20 years, say 200,000 miles and does it all. The trouble is new ones are too expensive for the average Joe. So a 2-5 year old one at a 50% discount makes sense and you can run it as long as you like. Why buy a new one? Same goes for EV's - too expensive new for the non Corporate buyer. The EV market is so uncertain there is natural consumer resistance. Net effect is many are sitting on their hands, cherishing their existing cars and waiting to see what happens. Oddly enough the more there is price discounting and still more amazing "deals" the more consumers confidence will be shaken. Better to keep pace with the mortgage or better yet pay it down fast!

For 90% of the people, a PHEV with 60 or more miles range is just fine. Coming to your nearest car dealer in 2024. One former Tesla Model 3 Performance owner cited his new Audi S7 eHybrid being much better value for his money than prementioned Tesla. Biggest faults of Tesla being eyewatering deprechiation and very dull interior. Good car, but not worth it. Musk and Musk's "bloodpath" EV price war made him a never Tesla person.

It's a valid point. Of course ICE cars ALWAYS need the petrol-station at some point, there's no concept of "Home Filling". We may reach "Peak Charging Station" sooner than we thought. 99% of my EV use is below 60 miles (100km) a day. 99% of my charging is therefore done via a 3 pin plug at around 3Kw (free from my Solar panels/Battery). My next car (Kia E-Niro) will do a realistic 240 miles. That will be fine for the next few years. After, say, 4 years, I predict that 400 mile ranges will be fairly standard. I'll know by then whether to stick with the 240 mile Kia or twist for a more modern vehicle. The rate of progress since the 2012 Nissan LEAF is quite extraordinary, and I don't see any signs of slowing down.

Robots to reduce labour costs for low skill or repetative jobs is great... and whats needed, let people get re skilled or fall to the wayside, tough love.

Just make all manufacturers put country of manufacture on all products, make them put sign on everything, fed up of educating MG buyers that their vehicles are not made in U.K. let the buyer decide but make sure they have not been mislead. Most Boeing parts made in China how’s that going.

You’ve got to remember that the Stellantis brands were always historically massively discounted anyway- there was a list price but no-one ever paid it. Look at the list prices of the latest Astra - no one in their right mind would pay that same with all the others.

The Ford Mach-E is rubbish? Have to disagree Dave. The Mach-E is a very decent EV, it's too expensive granted but far from rubbish. Are all EVs rubbish except Teslas?

I've said for some time, if the USA wants to shut the door on EVs they will reach a stage where they can't import cars. They will be stuck with the home grown rubbish no one with any wealth there wants to drive. If the rest of the world goes EV and the US has no plans to grow an infrastructure to support EVs they are forever scuppered.

In 2022 the Mach e started at £42500 it's now over £50000. It has a long way to go before it's affordable or value for money. It's way too expensive.

I wish they would replace Elon with one of those robots. Tesla workers are dedicated and hard working by all accounts. Elon on the other hand, could do with some non-human competition

Don’t know if it’s the same there, but I’ve noticed that there’s a way bigger difference between trade in and selling prices of used cars now. Combine higher sales prices with a high cost of borrowing, and it’s a recipe for a sales downturn. Then there’s the impact of deflated trade in prices on lease costs. Tax rules vary, but if it’s costing too much to buy a new car every three years, it makes sense to amortize a loan or lease agreement over a longer period. I like the lower running costs of electric, but to each their own.

I believe the Tesla V4 superchargers can only charge 800V architecture cars such as the EV6 at a max of 97kwH - even though the EV6 can take upto 230KwH. Do these non Tesla branded chargers have the capability to go higher?

Go to airport retail park coventry! You’ll be shocked! That has been in for I think over year and it’s not been hooked up ever since! No cables at all up to 350KW and a few 150KW

Dave, everyone should be reversing in and driving out forwards. Only dummy drivers drive in frontwards, if reversing in is possible. Reversing out is both less safe and disrupts other drivers who may be passing. Make your first move a safe one.

I used the EVPoint chargers at Starbucks Wetherby Road in Harrogate at the weekend - great charging session and had the place to myself early on Saturday afternoon after I left the Everything Electric Show and 65p/kW . yet the Sainsbury hub down the road was busy and 89p/kW when I drove passed. Same this afternoon at Ionity Carlisle - only 3 cars charging there at 1130 this morning and 71p/kW using the Electroverse card to pay.
