My daughter was diagnosed at 17. I wish I had picked up the signs earlier. She figurered it out herself and was diagnosed. She’s doing much better…she’s happy, she’s in art school, has a job and a partner. 😊

I think you were just describing my daughter. She’s 6 and we just got her official L2 ASD diagnosis. It’s been a long road convincing our pediatrician that something was off. (USA) But the DR. diagnosing her had zero doubts. She has never played with dolls the way others do. With her talking baby dolls, she would open their back, take batteries out, and put them back exactly as they ought all at the age of 20 months. Even today she was pulling her Barbie legs out, pretending to be a surgeon, and pop it back in. ASD is both confounding and amazing.

Hey lovely! I have a daughter who is nearly 2 and is exactly the same except one of the only differences is she has absolutely no separation anxiety so with that comes high risk of eloping in public spaces! Im excited to follow your journey with your son and see the potential skills my daughter may learn in her future seeing as they are so similar! We are just getting started with OT and speechies now and going to be diagnosed before middle of next year!

    Hi,
My son seemed perfectly fine the first year and then around the 18 month mark, symptoms of autism started kicking it. It was mainly in comparison to his older sister and the differences in their milestones. He is now a little over 2.5 years old and every symptom that you described your son having, mine has too. I haven’t seen a specialist just yet, but your video is even more conformation and a lot of help. It can be emotional and overwhelming but it helps to know that there are other moms going through the same experience as myself when it comes to getting help for our children. Thank you for this wonderfully detailed video. ❤

It's so interesting that you mention doors because my 15 month old definitely focuses on doors, opening and closing, over and over. Also light switches. We've actually started putting a chair under light switches because our arms get too tired to hold him up for as long as he wants to play with switches.
I personally don't feel at this stage that my son has autism, and a big reason is because he doesn't have a lot of the other things you describe like being in his own world. But it's certainly something I'm keeping an eye out for as I know he could develop it yet. Thanks for making these videos, your son is adorable and you presented things so clearly, I really appreciate it!

That's so cute he likes to play with the lights. I bet the flickering drives you mad sometimes lol. I know a lot of non-autistic children that do "autistic" resembling things so it could just be one of his phases, but yeah if you notice other things it's worth thinking about it. My son (now almost 3.5) doesn't do anything like that anymore, he mostly plays with soft toys, feeding them and talking to them, which is really sweet.
All the best for you and your son 💗

My son is 3 and he is also doing all what you described.. what I can see also is that baby side that he kept even that he turned 3 comparing to his peers that have that "little adults" behaviour.

Yeah I definitely know what you mean. All of the other 3 year olds seem like mini adults, they are like little copy cats!
Has your son been diagnosed or are you just speculating?
Of course there's always the possibility that he could just be emotionally delayed, as sometimes boys especially aren't as advanced as girls. But if you've got a gut-feeling that it's Autism, you know him best

      @@candidlymish hi
I've suspected autism when I've noticed that he could say things but not on the context. Was very addicted to certain things as planets for example. He doesn't play much with his peers ( not interested) , doesn't do pretend games and did not point finger in early age but I didn't know it was a massive milestone...
I am waiting for an NHS autism assessment but since this can take up to 1 year + I've booked a private assessment..
It is very stressful because the main questions are , is he ever going to talk, what about education, and adulthood..but I keep faith for all of us that are praying for the same ❤️ we will get there.
He hasn't been diagnosed but I have a strong feeling .

This is so helpful. I have an 8-year-old 'high functioning' boy who met all his milestones on time and is even incredibly advanced in some areas. I also have a 15-month-old who is looking much more like your little boy. He's been late with all his milestones, he isn't talking at all, he only started babbling about a month ago and his consonant sounds are very limited. He isn't gesturing or imitating at all. I really appreciate this video as I'm at the stage of coming to accept that this might be what we're looking at.

I am autistic and the only things that help me with my autism are understanding and quiet. This is not to say I speak for everyone ofc, but this is to say that autism is complex and if a cure or even a treatment had been found, it would be well known. Not some random guy peddling it in a UA-cam comment. Things like this concern me very much.

He's fully vaccinated but I strongly believe it's got nothing to do with him being Autistic, even before his first vaccination, looking back I can see the earliest hints of Autism. It can't be caused by anything because it's not a disability in my eyes, it's more like a superpower

The study that correlates vaccines with autism was very poorly done and even the researchers have admitted it wasn’t a good study. There were only 12 children in the study, some of which weren’t even autistic, and the study was entirely based on parental observations and reports. The connection between autism and vaccines that so many have was largely caused by tv propaganda from the 70s and 80s.
