    Rough estimate of Ilyas power: it takes him about 1 s to pull the weight to the highest point(about 1 m) in the clean(1:04) which gives the weight potential energy of mgh=242*9.8*1= 2372 joules and given the 1 s pull that yields 2372 Watts ~ 3 horse power! It may be even more due to air friction.

      Can you please calculate the momentum of the bar when it crashes on his neck?

    This a true world record lift in every sense of the word. He literally meets the weight before it starts to drop down, Incredible. Blew me away 5yrs ago, still blows me away today

    If this was an hour video I would've watched it, I got into Oly Lifting only about 2 years ago, and God I never thought for a second that I would feel the way I do about any sport.

    No teammates, no referees, just you and the bar. True character defining moment, simply spectacular. Great music too!

    MrElias97 The small weights are loaded outside the collars because it makes loading them much quicker and easier. Loading takes up a lot of overall time in a competition, and when you only load plates on the inside, you have to unscrew the collars and slide them off, put the new plates on, put the collars back on and re-screw them with every single weight change. When you load outside, you literally just walk up to the bar and slip the extra kilo on and walk away again.

      except between every lifter they do a thing called tighten up the bar which means loosen the collars press the plates tight and tighten the collars. at any legit meet they'll never just slide a plate on and walk away.

    I've watched many lifters over the years, Ilya Ilyin is by far the most enjoyable lifter to watch.

    0:20 hasn't even started the lift, just pulling into tension, and the plates already coming off the ground. Incredible Ilya.

    He pulls himself under the bar so hard during the clean that he has to go back up to get the bar. WOW

    What determines the best grip width for the split jerk? His arms seem more vertical overhead than some other lifters which have a bit of a 'V'.

    Why does always weightlifters have plates outside the collars?

    • @ah7027
      @ah7027 7 років тому +2

      the little ones are usually very light and tight so theres minimal risk of them falling off. Its also simpler than removing the collar entirely every time they make a plate switch. usually the outside plates are .5-2.5 kg plates and are rubber coated to fit tightly to the bar anyways.
