You got The Real Deal with that truck from what I saw and gathered from your video. I know of where a '03 is sitting right now....The same place it has been sitting since the owner (who purchased four identical RAMs for his small business that when belly up just after the Great Recession of "08 hit) parked it in '09. From what I gathered, after my offer of $1500.00 was rejected out of hand by said owner, the other three RAMs sold for his asking price of just under $10,000 each. And by gosh or by golly he was going to get the same for that one remaining RAM! Yeah, I know, good luck with that. Other than it's color, a medium blue that has faded A LOT under the sun of several Carolina summers while the truck remained parked out in the open, it is equipped identically to yours. I needed a beater pickup back then (2019) but was damn sure not going to pay just south of $10,000.00 for one. By the way, barring some deeply hidden mechanical problem, your clean '03 RAM, even with some rust, would probably, in today's used pickup market (in our area at least) would probably be marked somewhere in the $3500 to $5000.00 range with very little wiggle room for negotiation.
Nice buy for $800.00. Those V-6’s in full size 2wd trucks are generally for a business fleet. Like electrician, hvac and such work. Meant for economy not horsepower. That 3.7 is a decent motor. Yes it will sludge up if you don’t keep up on the oil changes. Every 3K not 5k or 10k. Every 3k on those 3.7 whether full synthetic or conventional oil. The radiator’s 99.9999% are plastic now. They just don’t last. I am thinking 2k for it now?
That’s true I think the old 3.9 was a better motor than this 3.7 even though the 3.7 made 35 more horsepower and 10 more torque the reliability of the 3.9 makes up for it
Same with the 4.7. They can sludge up if you skip on oil changes. My FIL had an 04 Quadcab with that engine and not only it ended up with some sludge, the timing chain had stretched snd slapped quite a bit, but then the truck had 200K by then. Some guy still paid 2700 for it 5 years ago and got a rebuilt engine in it.

I’ll start the vehicle then put heater on the floor vent to help dry out the carpet n such. Smells like it came from factory too after I clean them out like that.
