This is one of the most fair and honest reviews of a game I have seen in a long time, and by a long time fan of the series nonetheless.
Great job Zero, your depth and maturity will take you to ever higher places.
Can’t beat it on the same day it’s released? Automatically better than Sonic Forces.
Lukas lmaooo
Lukas and got a hit piece
Damn zero you actually sold me on this game.
9:52 Pyra commits suicide lmfao
She couldn’t handle the R34 any longer.
Xenoblade AI is hilarious
Good riddance
Elder agreed.

Gracias ZeRo.
You are a very underrated youtuber. You are fun, serius, and very great to watch every time. Let's go ZeRo.
This was fantastic, ZeRo. I really do think that you make a great reviewer due to your rationalism, critique and understanding of the viewers; and I would really like to see more of these when or if you get the time. Great content my dude, thanks for this review!
I think zero should do more reviews.

hi keef
Ernie Gang owns this video
There is no escape from the Ernie Gang....
Boy that's just crazy.
hello
So are you saying this is a "Zero Spoiler" Review?!
I'll just... let you get back to the video now.
Sammy - Jack lol nice pun
This review was great. Thanks for recommending this, it's such a great and underrated game.
Nervous at first, but ZeRo has erased all doubts. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game.
Me too! Gonna get one tomorrow! Thanks zero!
nice pic
@@jeremychong8541 How is it? I'm debating if I should get it.
@@nate716 wonderful game with great characters and a beautiful world to explore. The music is phenomenal. I am around chapter 5 and the story is about to heat up more. The battle mechanics aren't easy to master and some online tutorials will help. But it sure got addicting once you manage to pull off some very cool combos. Drawing blades suck and is the only drawback I had with this game. But don't let that stop you from getting this amazing game.
@@nate716 get it
I hate seeing xenoblade x get cyberbullied. I found its story pretty alright. While it didn't have the deep character bonding that the first game had, the characters were still good. Usually you'd have to do an Affinity Mission, but that's what made the characters meaningful and rewarding to indulge in. I remember the first time I met Murderess she came off as a backstabbing asshat, but after spending some time with her and doing her affinity mission, I found out that she had a sympathetic past which helped define her.
ChaseDaMLGLord Gaming Xenoblade X had some really good sidequests, they were just a bitch to find.
The side stories and affinity missions in X were pretty good, but the main story was a bit lacking. I mean, who didn't see Lao's betrayal coming a mile away? Not to mention Luxaar is by far the least intimidating villain in the series. Even Dughall was more threatening than him, lol.
ChaseDaMLGLord Gaming Chronicles X was decent but my main issue besides the weak main story is the really counter-intuitive design elements of the game.
Xenoblade Chronicles as a whole was designed to be the perfect JRPG back when the genre was going through a rough patch.
Xenoblade 1 had many design choices that made the game very convenient to play.
Chronicles X removed a lot of these conveniences, some examples being...
-Lack of being able to change the time on the fly
-All potential party members do not gain EXP if they are not directly in the party
-Really small text size
-Terrible Quest Log
-Removing Chain Attacks
-Forcing the revive mechanic into the 'Magic Points' mechanic (TP) due to a lack of chain attack
-Fetch quests being much harder to complete due to the much larger world and lack of explanation of whereabouts of the item.
(Cough find item A in Primordia Cough) (WHERE IN PRIMORDIA!!!)
Its been awhile since ive played so those are just some things off the top of my head. But X had a lot wrong with it.
X is still a great game, but compared to the other installments, it is merely an average game in a franchise of fantastic arguably masterpiece titles.
CasualGamePlayz Yeah, some quests and item gathering were tedious and I hope that by the time X2 rolls around that's fixed.
The lack of a chain attack or talent arts didn't bother me since Overdrive makes you busted as all hell and you can gain TP for revives and extending overdrive at lightning speed.
You can also level up extremely fast since, in skells, you can easily crush monsters dozens of levels higher than your own and gain tons of EXP without too much of a hassle. The game itself was clearly more geared towards exploration and combat than story, which is why the story probably didn't resonate with many fans of the original.
Apparently the next XC game comes out late 2019 to early 2020 and it'll probably be XCX2, so here's hoping they can fix any gripes people had with the original
Well the Main difference between you and another reviewers is that you actually know how to play the game yore reviewing, and no suck at it like most of the reviewers these days
Pyra suiciding off any surface possible is enough to get me to buy this game.
3:58 "submerge" I see what you did there
Wait, this game is almost out? Jeez, it felt like all these switch games weren't gonna come out until next year. Nice.
Very thorough review. Even has a damn list
So, ZeRo, I don't know whether you are going to continue the game reviews, the gameplay videos, or go back to Smash, but, just as a little bit of feedback, I want to say that, while this video is very good as a review, it is detailed, touches on a lot if not all the important matters that make someone decide whether they should play the game, nonetheless it is a video that is *not* particularly entertaining for a different part of your audience.
To be more specific about my case at least, and I believe there are at least some people that share my viewpoint: I subscribed to your channel for smash of course, a long time ago. When you started doing these gameplay videos lately, it was a change of pace, but it was still really good, because while watching them, I got to see *you* personally react to things, enjoy things, or not, even if the game was unfamiliar. It was still content that was really interesting. The way you did this game review however, was 100% dedicated to the game, with no points of interest for anyone or anything not relating to the game.
If you want to enter the game review scene, you should keep in mind that you are still producing content for people who don't even *know* the game, along with those who are already deeply interested. There are many ways to solve that problem, with the core of the solutions being to make the video more engaging to watch. Quick examples, Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation, goes the visual humor path. Before You Buy, on gameranx, gets technical, evaluates as much as possible, creates a very complete image of how the game handles in all instances (they have really refined their formula of reviewing), and appeals to the specific niche of, well, "before you buy".
With this vid, you presented a technical review of many aspects of the game, but the gameplay shown behind it barely ever shows the same thing you're talking about, with a couple exceptions. You're talking in relative monotone, and there is no attempt to manipulate the watcher's attention with any kind of editing.
Right now you have a redeeming factor, the exclusiveness of getting your hands on a game before it is released to the public, but if you want to do something with this series, you need to take example from where the reviewing community has managed to get, after all these years of refining itself. I'm saying all these without any blaming, and I still recognize how technically good the review itself was, I just want you to think about improving, if you plan on this becoming something more than a one-time video because you got early access to a game that one time.
Still, I appreciate your content to date, keep up the good work!
Orpheus Xenakis ahhh, very good advice! I'll take this to heart. Appreciate it greatly. I'm not sure if I'm doing another one of these, simply did it because I'm a big fan of Xenoblade in general. But if I do another review I will certainly try my best to make it better!
Can you write my essay?
School essays are plagiarize-able. If you already want to take the low road, and disregard ethics, get good at stealing other people's work (Google and Wikipedia GO!). Paying other people for legitimate work : 1. Costs you money and 2. doesn't build up any kind of skill, which would later earn you money. On the other hand, being good at stealing 1. Earns you results and 2. makes you a more able person, more capable of getting results later. Always think of your future. Trying to buy your way out doesn't work, cheating is superior in every way. As a general principle, you need to give effort to get results, one way or another.
Or you could try spending that money getting a tutor, or learning on your own. But that is lame. Look, Papa Zero did that and all he is getting now is people throwing shit at him for being good. I mean he also got a couple of Championships won, but meh, it's not like that earns money or anything.
Orpheus Xenakis this is too good lol.
Orpheus Xenakis My man copy pasting parts of the bible
Love this game. It has issues, but the good bits overcome the shortcomings. I’m going to play the first game on my 3DS next! Xenoblade Chronicles 2 introduces me to this series. Now I want Nintendo and Monolith Soft to port X to the Switch! (Hopefully it would happen by the end of 2018!)
I hope you enjoyed XC1. It is by far my favorite game of all time. Such an incredible time.
10:50 for this point it's because they want you to get into the game asap so they let you in slightly earlier than the textures have loaded in, I think it's a great compromise because the loading times in this game are amazing
I feel like people's misunderstand Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's quite clear that it's meant to be a vastly different game, its only similarities being the title, some mechanics and some easter eggs. People always give it heat for not being like the original, when that was never the original purpose of the game.
^^^^This.
I was disappointed with X until I realized it was only a Xenoblade game in name only. It's not supposed to be like Chronicles 1 or 2. After I looked past that it became my favorite out of the three Xenoblade games so far. Hopefully it gets a proper sequel.
Im really feeling this game
Brayan Castillo I see what you did there
This video is property of the Ernie Gang
Potatoro Ernie. Gang.
ernie gang ernie gang ernie gang ernie gang ernie gang yuh
This is one of those games I wish I could completely forget so I can play it again fresh.
So glad I pre-ordered the Special Edition and Pro Controller.
Thank you for the review, ZeRo!
Just beat the game tonight and boy what a ride it was. Never has a game like this played with my emotions in that last hour. I enjoyed each of the characters’ personalities, blades and npc’s included. Yet I still have that itch to run all throughout Alrest , see other people’s thoughts of their concluded adventure, and find out what’s next for game. Your review, even if I beat the game already, will get me to play a second play through and find everything that I missed.
I’ll miss you
Bought this game because of you, and I'm enjoying so far (only 5h of play time)
Thanks for the spoiler free review, quality content right here :)
You should do more reviews! This one was really good!
This is a hella good review tbh, honestly one of the best reviews I have seen in a while, this made me want this game even more than I already did
Darn, this guy is a pro smash player, and also an amaizing reviewer!!! How is this possible. Keep it up Zero, this is the best review for this game I had seen so far!
You should to do more videos like this.
My interest went from "I'll play this game; I'll check it out" to "hey I'm probably missing out if I skip over this. Can't wait to play it!"
I also liked how you summed up each section pointing out the most important parts while explaining them thoroughly throughout.
Amazing review.
Great review that i can agree with. When it comes to validating though, that's the point of Japanese audio with subtitles. The character models were made to move in tune with Japanese voice acting. Sucks? Yes but there is a solution
You should do more reviews. Good work man.
Oh shit I didn't know ZeRo reviewed Xc2. Amazing review btw, couldn't of have said it better myself.
Damn. Must be hella hard to stay number one and play 100 hour games. Good stuff ZeRo
9:50 Rex: Man.. look at this view!
Pyra: I had enough of your shit..*jumps*
If this game can generate obscene amounts of good Pyra lewds it’ll be an immediate 10/10 for me.
Glad you’re enjoying this game, man!
Dreadfury but she looks like she's twelve years old
She isn’t and doesn’t.
We’re fine.
Vincent Kressevich She does not..... Her body is that of a much older girl????
Vincent Kressevich Nah. But she looks gross though.
ExacliburRed 33 so are you just going around all the comments to show your intense hate of the character designs?
I really enjoyed the formatting behind the review. Having the sections of the review with time stamps on the side was a nice touch. I did enjoy your time, sounded very reasonable, but how someone else said, you could use a bit more emotion or add something else in. But if you just want a review it's not really an issue. The gameplay could also be more diverse, and I think laying the grounds for the initial part of the story is not too negative. There were a lot of topics you covered however that would definitely hold value to someone considering buying it. Overall great video, would love to see more of these in the future :)
At first, I didn't think much of the Xenoblade series at all with Shulk in Smash 4 as an exception if you count it as one. This review is so descriptive and the game looks amazing. Please make more game reviews!
This is the first game in years I lost myself in and made me genuinely smile just by playing it.
I'm so glad to see this game is ended up being really good! I am so excited to play it myself! Thankfully the only large-scale negative review so far has been Gamestop and after reading theirs I decided that they have about as much credibility as IGN. Anyways, great review, great video, keep it up.
Hype and a HALF
The first two games have made this as maybe my favorite series of all time, so totally can’t wait.
Black I dont see what that has to do with his comment.
Nice review dude!
I'm a big fan too and I'm super excited to dig into this one
Thank you for the warning in the beginning! Other reviewers were not as kind. (Gamespot, ign)
A random Patrat
I didn't hear anything spoiler worthy on gamespots review.
Mewtwo21 It wasn't what they said, it was the gameplay they showed. It revealed a party member that was not shown off before
Great review ZeRo, can't wait to play the game for myself
Hey I loved the review and I think it's well-written but one thing that I think you should fix in your next videos is to lower the game volume and increase your microphone's volume so your voice comes through more clearly. It's nothing that breaks the video but I think it would just sound better and more professional.
This is making me nostalgic for the original Xenoblade Chronicles, even though I never actually played the game myself-I watched Chuggaaconroy's complete playthrough of it.
I wish more people would recommend the Sub version of this game , I find the sub blows the dub out the water and makes the experience much better , at least for me
Awesome review. I refrained from watching this video until after I beat the game. I just beat it last night and sank 155-160 hours into it. It was absolutely incredible. I thought it was as good as the first, if not better, as well. I loved XCX as well; the story did lack a bit, but it had great gameplay, so I was ok with it. Keep em coming with the game reviews, man.
You got me sold. Man I feel like you talk from the heart. These review nowadays is too diluted. Great job man!
A DiddyKong/10
thank you zero, i know your passionate about the og, thats why i decided to listen to you over other reviewers.
It makes me happy to see your love for the games
I'm still playing this game 3 years later man. Can't wait for your impressions on the remaster.
Seeing a good review one day before playing the game made me more hype.
Great video ZeRo, hope to see more reviews in future!
Am I the only one that enjoyed Xenoblade X a lot? I mean sure, the story could have a few fixes here and there, but the gameplay was super fun. I really wish they release Xenoblade X2 sometime in the future.
Although I haven't played Xenoblade or Xenoblade 2, I have mad respect for them, and I wish to play this game someday.
GamerFarioBro for me at least X has many problems and it bothered me because i wanted to actually play the story, well as much as there were, but the game forced you to do stuff for no reason, exploring a certain amount of an area makes sense, you are on a new world that you know nothing about, fine. however the whole problem is that you have this time limit to get the life hold back yet they want you to explore a crazy amount and put a lot of time just to go a little bit in the story. for me the story i didn’t care about i was immersed and there are some bad things, the humans name the planet Mira, but the inhabitants of Mira already call it Mira, how does that work and it isn’t touched on at all
It's a great game, just flawed in some ways.
Great video zero, you are awesome... just beat the game after 125 hours, it was beautiful
Really great review dude. I was on the fence but this was all I needed and it's preordered. Thanks for being honest about the negatives too, hardware limitations are the first thing that comes to mind with a game of this scale on the switch haha
I've been waiting for this forever! I can't wait!
This review was amazing, the editing was on point and the audio is clear and crisp, I just have a small criticism, very minor, the background audio is far too loud at some points, not to the point where it ruins the video, the video's fine however there were sometimes where it was a bit difficult for me to hear you other than that had no problems, great review!
This review is fantastic and convinced me to pick this up when it comes out
Thank you ZeRo! I’ve been off an on with my excitement but now I’m stoked for it to arrive tomorrow! Great review :)
I just beat the game last night at 60 hours of gameplay. The game was the best jrpg I've played in a long time. I didn't play the first. But I can say I stayed up 3 days straight to beat this game and loved every minute of it. The game tear jerked me hard.
Skitz Now play the first one and you will understand what's going on with the last few dialogues :P
Nero Tex should I be worried lol
Skitz No, I just want to say that XC1 and XC2 are intertwined. So to get the best experience out of the story, playing both is recommended.
Nero Tex I own chronicles x, is that the same as 1?
Skitz No, X is a spin off kinda. Compared to 1 and 2, X is very weak storywise, considered as the weakest in the series.
Dude, Xenoblade x had an amazing story 90% of it was in the side content though. Try it again!
I feel like this review does bring up a burning question I have. Where does Xenoblade Chronicles 1 sit on your favourite games of all time?
And follow up, have you made/will you make a ZeRo's favourite video games of all time list?
Probably, but Shulk is still my favorite XenoBlade character
Honestly, this is one of the best and most honest reviews for a game I’ve seen in a long time, great job!
Amazing review ZeRo! I was having my doubts about it, but your review and the little glimpses of the gameplay in this video has convinced me to buy it, Really great job, keep it up!
Hey Zero~! Great review of the game man, you convinced me to give it a shot expecially since i loved the original. Great review overall, just one bit of constructive criticism. From about 1:26 to about 2:40, when you were explaining the game mechanics, some of the information you were saying was overshadowing by the voice acting/ battle sounds of the video itself. This led to it being difficult to here what you were saying. I would recommend for next time just overlaying the ost of the game for those information heavy sections like it was for the rest of the video. That way we can hear you more clearly! Great review though man, keep up the good work.
Loved the original xenoblade back when I played it in 2011 never expected it to get this big and damn do I remember playing xenosaga when I was a kid. I feel old af now lol. Definitly will get this once my finals are over this Friday
the humour in this game is also fantastic. also the references to pop culture and some anime related stuff is amazing.
SPOILERS to its references:
Sometimes it is super anime with Poppi and a giant robot ripped straight out of a mecha anime
It also was freaking star wars at one point
and at one occasion even a zombie game.
I really enjoyed this review. This game has been on my radar to get. Not sure when I'll get it but it'll probably be before the end of the year. I never played the first but I played X, and enjoyed that. So hopefullyI love this one as well.
Excellent review you touched ok n just what people want to know..Also that lipsync has beenan issue for a while with the tales of series as well( which is why I'm glad they have the Japanese dub available
I wish I could have seen your playthrough! Great review, you hit all the points. Personally I like it more than XC1 but not by much, it just eeks out by a little.
This was genuinely a good review
Great review, if anything i'd just recommend to play around with the game audio in certain parts, since it felt slightly loud on certain parts.
Saludos desde Canada :)
Great review ZeRo! I saw on Twitter that you would like some feedback to improve for future reviews, so here's a few nitpicks that I have:
1. I'm aware that English is not your first language and that you are still adjusting to the phonetics of the language, but I would suggest slowing down some of your delivery. There were a couple points I couldn't understand you because of how quickly you were speaking. This also may be due to your accent, but slowing down would help in that regard as well.
2. When you are speaking, my ears can get distracted by the sounds of the game. Instead of using real time audio from whatever footage is playing, I would suggest using some sort of plain relaxing music, which would eliminate all the distracting sound effects from the characters, like when they yell during battle.
3. With #2 in mind, a good balance between music and your voiceover is important. I felt that throughout the review the music may have been a little loud, which made you harder to understand. Keeping the music volume at a minimum would be great. Try listening to the mixed audio of your voiceover and the music and try to strike a good balance.
That's all the criticism I have! Great review, especially for a first time! Keep up the good work!
One thing Zero about your videos - take your time while speaking you always sound like you’re trying to fit a million words into one sentence, run out of breath, then cut into another sentence. It makes it a little (JUST a little) hard to keep up at times. This was a great review and I always look forward to more UA-cam videos from you. Love ya man
I have to disagree with 1 point. It sure isn't that important to play XC1 before, but it also is kind of. I don't want to spoil but in order to understand what is going on, XC1 knowledge is required at some point.
I agree too, for me its essential to finish xenoblade 1 first
Imo not really, it's kinda like a little nudge to the original. Also they do explain some of the stuff pretty well even if you haven't played through the first game.
Not really. Most of the nods to the original are just references. Not essential to understand what's going on in the story. Especially when you reach the Land of Morythra.
Very good review, and I personally can't wait to play this game!
I played with with japanese voices, and I also noticed the lipsyncs were off a few times. I do really recommend the japanese voices though, as they are much more enthusiastic, and burning sword (!) sounds amazing. The VA is never off, and there are some high cred names in therr. You do have to put up with character names being different though. Like Pyra is Homura in Japanese, but the subtitles and character screens still say Pyra. Then again, you know, meh.
Because "Homura" means "flame" in Japanese, the localizers wanted to make the fire imagery immediately apparent to the English-speaking audience as well.
(Yes, you all can shut up with the #HomuraDidNothingWrong jokes now)
Yeah i know, same for Mythra = Hikari = Light. It's not only for those characters tho, it's for a lot of them, and i honestly prefer all the japanese names over the english ones.
excellent review, all well thought out and extremely well focused. you def need to do more of these =)
Also I liked the story of Xenoblade Chronicles X a lot
I think you should use a tier rating system (like the tiers for Smash). That's what I do. S-tier for amazing games that I can't stop obsessing over.
I think it is very difficult to review a game without spoilers. I must say though.. you did a good job. Nice review.
Trixie Truelove I don’t think it’s that hard but people have forgotten this is what a review is....not telling you what it’s about it’s about being spoiler FREE....giving people your thoughts about it but not telling you what it’s about.
This video is now property of Ernie gang. With that out of the way, good job ZeRo! I would love to see more reviews from you. I love Smash but after 3 years and like a year after the last update it has gotten pretty stale. It would be good for now to every once in a while do something different until the next big Smash news.
A good review, can't say it's the kind of game I'd play but the soundtrack is fantastic. Also, your commentary voice is really relaxing to listen to #ZeRoASMRstreams
"Submerging you into this world"
*Right at that moment submerges under water*
I see what you did there.
Yayyy spoiler free ^^
Okay, I wanted Xenoblade 2 for a while, but hearing ZeRo talk about it made my hype skyrocket!
Damn ZeRo, this review was better than most of the big websites.
4 days = 60 hours in game, is how good this game is for me
Damn! Gonzalo, this is the kind of review this game deserves!
Nice review.
Even tho it is now property of
*E R N I E G A N G*
Am I the only one who noticed zero said "submerging you into the world" as he jumped in water at 3:58
Wow this review is good, good job!
Did you ever thought about a In-depth Diddy Kong guide, like you did with Sheik and Captain Falcon? I really would like to see one. :)
You're a natural at game reviews, I'm sold
If you hate the character designs, How much of a drawback do you think that would be? I loved xenoblade X aside from the plot and haven't played the first. Would you recommend that I buy it? Great Video.
