@@SuperPlacido1 Jar Jar can't jump high anymore, Boba and Jango can hover in the air nearly as long and Dooku and the Emperor can't use force lightning anymore. I also forgot the Astromech Droids can't hover in the air at all anymore either those are all the characters I can think of that lost their unique abilities.
@@PeterGriffin11 I know for a fact that emperor palpatine CAN use force lightning IF you do the right combo, it’s the force ability button but I think it only does the lightning after specific attacks.
I have 3 main gripes 1. The levels are too short. There's a lot of content in each episode, but the actual levels are too short and there aren't enough of them. Replaying levels with different characters was the whole point in the original Lego Star Wars games, so I think this hurts replayability and doesn't encourage people to try to 100% the game. 2. There aren't many enemies in the open world. You're running around in these huge areas with very little obstacles. Once you've collected everything in these areas, there's nothing else to do. No replay value in that regard. This "issue" isn't too bad because of the amount of areas you can explore. 3. There isn't a main "hub" area, like the cantina. No stores, no bonus rooms to unlock, nowhere to view your collectables, the characters that you unlock are just in your menu, you cant see them walk around. I think it would've been cool seeing the characters you've unlocked in random areas in the game. For example, seeing Mace Windu and Yoda chilling on some planet, or Qui Gon walking around the Jedi Temple. Idk. This game doesn't really show you you're accomplishments and unlocks in the world itself, just in some menu, which isn't rewarding in my opinion Granted, I've not finished the game so some of these things MIGHT be in the game, but I doubt it because I've not come across them like 25 hours in
I agree with 1 and 2, and I'm hoping against hope that 2 and 3 are addressed in a future update. It shouldn't be too hard to have enemies in the open world, and I could see those collectible rooms being implemented into the capital ships you own
It just feels rushed, even though they delayed it so many times. I just completed Return of the Jedi, and they completely skip out on blowing up the Death Star. Instead they just show it in a cutscene. Blowing up the Death Star is probably the biggest part of the movies, and it's just skipped. They also just show Han pressing a button to take the shields down, another part skipped by a cutscene
It is awful. Same as scrapping battle of Coruscant in 3. I remember how much fun this was in 2 and tcs. Losing it here is insane. If it really was to make it 5 levels, 1 of endor or jabba could have been cut.
What really drew me to lego Star Wars as a kid was being able to create my own Star Wars character. I was so disappointed that it wasn’t a feature in the new one.
WHERE IS THE JUMPING?? Every jump puzzle in the new game has you just press x to automatically jump to the next platform. Incredibly disappointing. Good points made in the video
Plus I feel I can never jump to a wall bar if the x doesn't show up. Like I need to sit there and find the right angle to get the x prompt to show up because if I don't I'll fall through the bar.
I understand what y’all saying about how y’all want it to kinda be retro with the controls… but the new tap X or A to jump onto something isn’t really bad for the motion of gameplay, plus it prevents bugs and getting glitched from trying to jump into a place your not supposed to. Every kyber brick puzzle is meant to be solved a certain way and with a certain character I actually like that and find it convenient…
I kind of hate that it locks on because most of the time my character jumps somewhere I don't want them to jump no matter where I move my camera angle. It's very annoying
I'm annoyed about Jango and boba not being able to fly. In other lego games we have iron man, superman, etc and even the ability to fly vehicles around the map but instead it's a hover effect and then space only flying with ships
Ikr it's a fucking joke. The facts you can't use force lightning properly is ridiculous too. What a disappointing mess of a game. 2 years of delays and this is the best they can do. The developers did their best, it's just the main decision makers and leaders that messed up.
I think the problem is they focused too much on everything but the levels. I like some of them but it’s definitely lacking compared to the original saga game.
I was expecting so much more for the levels. Everyone praise the open world expect, but I don’t remember that being what the Lego Star Wars format norm was. I expected larger than ever levels with lots of dedication to every detail, and massive use of features within the levels, and along with that the open world, but no. We can’t have both, even though they had 4 years. I don’t know what was happening in their offices, so I can’t complain about them. I can however still critique the game.
Most of the original games levels were puzzle based with some combat unbetween, because your character can’t really die the combat isn’t the main focus, this game makes the combat way to easy as well as having* levels focused on combat
I'm a big prequel fan, and I feel like the Skywalker Saga does the episode 1 levels better than Complete Saga, cause there's a ground, space, and duel level. Episodes 2 and 3, I dunno. For Episode 2, we keep the Zam Wessel chase, Jango chase, factory stuff, Geonosian Arena, and fight with Dooku. What we lose is the Battle of Geonosis, which really sucks. There isn't a battle at all on Geonosis. Episode 3 is mixed for me. We lose the first level, which was the Space Battle of Coruscant, which is a big miss for me. We get the Invisible Hand level, and then the Utapau Grievous level, then the Kashyyyk level. After that it differs again. For Complete Saga, we get Palpatine vs Yoda. For Skywalker Saga, we get a level at the Jedi Temple, which is cooler imo. Then finally, both games end at Obiwan vs Anakin. I honestly can't tell which one was better.
I feel the exact same way, every time I play I think of what could’ve been and all the stuff missing, the levels are way too short, they should have combined two sections in levels like for the battle of endor and blowing up the death star in the same level.
They had 9 movies to work with so I see how they would kind of skimp out on that. The complete Saha could flesh out the levels because of the amount of movies. The game still has around 40 levels witch is alot. I also prefer quality over quantity tho and it sucks the amount of important scenes were left out. Like the whole space scene in rots.
Personally I absolutely love this game. But I agree with you on the level problem... I was so disappointed about the length of the levels and that there are only 5 Minikits instead of 10 in each level.
I agree with some points as well, overall I absolutely enjoyed this game sooo much. I feel like people are picking at tiny things and also forget that they also want it to be simple enough for kids to still enjoy it as well. They weren’t gonna make a lego game with Fallen Order fighting styles and boss battles lmfao
Eh....I looked it up...seems like the first level for example...Negotiationa is around the same length as the first level from the Phantom Menace. The levels are pretty good and there isn't really a level problem.
I'm surprised no reviews have mentioned how they ruined freeplay mode. In so many levels the game forces you to use certain characters mostly in boss fight levels and vehicle levels won't let you switch vehicles at all.
@@benroy3198 you are missing the point, Freeplay in vehicle missions most of them you can't switch vehicles, hell I got stuck with a ship that had no guns in the trench run and could not switch. Plus in freemode it locks your character during boss fights to specific characters.
Not to mention the level designs don't have any alternative paths or areas that can only be accessed by different characters once you unlock them. That was the whole point of freeplay for me and its non existent here.
One of the things they could have made to make the world more alive was to simply make us buy the lego characters when meeting them roaming randomly on the planet instead of buying them FROM A FREAKING UNINTUITIVE MENU ! I mean, remember when you walked in the cantina just to buy new characters then see them come back again sometimes ?
Like the Lego Indiana Jones 2 approach, in that game you did just that and you’d find new characters in the overworld as you beat levels so you were always looking to explore
You were ahead of your time, it seems like the majority of people agree that this game sucks or at least are heavily critical of it now. Complete joke that they hyped this game up for 3 years.
I loved the original Lego Star Wars and even enjoyed Lego Star Wars the force awakens when it came out but the skywalker saga was a massive disappointment for me, played it for two days but didn’t have any desire to continue due to no worthy progression system and boring levels, it had amazing potential it just feels dumbed down and rushed
This is one of things I don't get, how TT and WB could mess up this badly?! Seriously, you don't do nothing but walk and watch cutscenes for at least 80% of the game, they sacrificed the gameplay for that joke of an open world, it's almost like they forgot that this was meant to be a game before anything else Also the UI is probably the worst of any lego game, there's just a bunch of unecessary stuff all over the screen
The weird thing about this game, it basically has the format backwards. Instead of the levels and story missions being the highlight and focus, the open world is. In every other Lego game, it has always been the opposite ever since the introduction of open worlds in Lego batman 2. While I do appreciate a lot of the new content in the open world, it shouldn't be at the cost of the core gameplay and levels. Truth be told, I appreciated more Lego Star Wars 3 and from what I have heard Lego force awakens was good too. I also think the characters were more unique and had more fun than the 300 or so from Skywalker. This is because they each had their own good animation, look and even specific moves that were tied to the character. Now every single one in Skywalker plays the same way in a class, except Grievous which is why he is my favorite and go too character (also because of the memes).
@Alatar the Blue I disagree with most of your points, especially rouge one as that was one of my favorite sw movies. However I will give you this, 3 and fa games are both great and I wish we got modern remasters of cs and 3 Thats what I was kinda hoping this game would be.
@Alatar the Blue I wasnt talking about people's opinions I was talking about my own. I quite like the movie as it provided a new perspective of a war movie, which I very much enjoyed. The acting was quality and the action was awesome throughout the last half of the movie. I think online critics have ruined film because they make everyone try to be a critic. I get you dont like the movie, but I loved it and you ranting to me isnt gonna change my mind, only think less of you really. People should be able to like what movies they want to like.
@Alatar the Blue as I said to each their own oppinion, I am not gonna argue any further because we both have different views and its just gonna end up with an never ending debate.
@@legendary6790 dude I think you are not understanding what he is saying. He wasn't arguing if rogue one was good or not he was saying he felt it was bad but a game based on the movie could still work based off how good the force awakens Lego game was.
My biggest grip was that you couldn't change characters during boss fights. One of the best things about a Lego game is the replay ability they offer during levels with the different characters so to remove that option is just infuriating. Like how cool would it have been to play as Anakin (with Hologram mod on) during the final Palpatine fight in Ep 9, or Ahsoka during the Vader fight in Ep 5, or any other boss fight.
Definitely a flawed game but I’ve had quite a bit of fun with it. I think the main draw is the areas and trying to 100% them rather then the missions and story themselves, which seems ass backwards to me.
Yeah exactly :/ I've had fun with it too, I just wish it was so much more than it was. And that's something they definitely could've managed when they have the foundations of the original games there.
Same here. I had fun playing it, but I prefer The Complete Saga. I’m not just saying it because I grew up playing The Complete Saga. I prefer The Complete Saga because I’m also not a big fan of the mission format in the Skywalker Saga. I’d rather play a stage from Point A to Point B in one go just like in the old Lego games. Plus the Skywalker Saga is way too easy compared to the Complete Saga, granted both games are targeted towards kids.
I started playing the game and I absolutely HATE how much shorter each episode is, I expected a space battle at the start of episode III but that's skipped, as well as the escape mission afterwards as was said in the movie... I don't care if the game is more expensive, what's the point of playing through all movies if the movies themselves have been severely cut down? You're not playing through the episodes anymore, you're playing through a shorter and inferior version that is too rushed to be fully enjoyed by people who have watched the movies.
Huh? Each are long enough though. You don't mention stuff they added though...like the gungan battle on Naboo or Yoda vs Palpatine...or the actual Luke vs Vader fight in episode 6. So the movies haven't been severely cut down. You still are playing through the episodes...just like the older lego games and they aren't inferior or that rushed and they can be fully enjoyed.
@@Jdudec367 They should have added this while keeping the old sections. I agree. If I didn't know the plot of those games beforehand, I would have been confused a lot about what was actually going on, especially in the PT section. They skipped so many plot points and levels.
Honestly not being able to make your own character was something that really bummed me out. I always looked forward to completing the game and being able to go back, unlock new characters in free play then being able to go back and use whatever piece from the character I just bought. But with that removed, buying characters just doesn't seem as rewarding or exciting. I know it's small but I still wish that feature was in the game. even if it was on a small scale
@@Webshooters1 the modding scene is now dead after a bugfix update broke the one mod that everything else is built off and the dev just vanished off the face of the earth.
Bro i was genuinely mad confused after the first level and after there was literally NOTHING in Naboo just heading down into jar jars city. I had to look up a walkthrough i thought i missed a whole level or something. Nope, just walk and talk. But ive accepted the fact that most of the game is the post story content so im excited to just get to that
People were mad about finally fighting The Senate as Windu since the trailer shows it It was just a cut scene... They even cut bits that were in the old game
They went from 6-5 levels although that I won’t judge them with the gigabites the game takes and the graphics but bro in 1 of those 5 levels a full level is just the submarine escape with jar jar qui gon from fishes
I thought the story mode in this game is incredibly boring and honestly bad. But I really liked the collectaton after completing it. Getting 100% in all planets was quite fun
One of things I kinda found disappointing was the mismatched musical cues. During the fight with Darth Vader in Episode V, it felt so nonchalant since they were playing the Cloud City theme instead of the music used in Complete Saga. And in some of the vehicle levels, there is barely any music during any of it. On the final lap of the pod racing level, I was so shocked that there was no musical accompaniment, not even a roaring crowd when you got closer to the end like the original. Little things like that makes something that supposed to feel immersed in a tense situation just very boring and devoid of any emotion. Still think it's a fun game, but those things definitely put a sour taste in my mouth whenever I play
My main problem was that it just breezed through the story and scenes way too quickly. Still disappointed they didn't offer some missions during the clon wars or at least add clone wars missions as bonus unlockable levels and content. Would've been cool if you had missions from like star wars the clone wars as bonus unlockable levels in the prequel trilogy. You had levels based on the bad batch and rebels for the revenge of the sith as unlockable bonus levels, had rebels for new home, mando and boba for Return of the jedi, and other stuff for the sequal. I don't watch much content that takes place during Disney's sequel trilogy
We can definitely say that it's two very different games. If you expected something similar to the complete saga you'll be disappointed. This game focuses entirely on the huge open world, the side missions and all the puzzles of the story mode in TCS is now in the open world gameplay instead. The main missions feel more like a movie rather than a game and that's not bad just different. The gaming still exists in the open world.
Yeah, like they're both very good games in their own respective ways, TSS, is still very much fun, just not as polished as the TCS, like i loved that extra side level where you had all the homes and you had to get like 1 million studs.in under an hour, kinda wish they had that too but oh well, still enjoyed it.
yup this was exactly what i thought of the game as well. At first i was disappointed cause of the story. but once i finished ep6, i decided to just do stuff in the open world and actually had more fun there than on the missions xD im still kind of annoyed that costumes are considered different characters, yet, they dont have different animations like they did in the older lego star wars games. episode 2 anakin has the same animations as episode 3 anakin -_- and this is true for other characters as well
I don't think it's just different, I think it's just bad. It seems like most games that go open world skimp out on all their original design philosophies that were fun, while only adding in the all of the barebones and monotonous cliches of modern, open world gaming (repeat fetch quests with uncompelling stories and design). Only a select few actually do it well by keeping core design within the open world or by adding shit that's actually fun e.g.: BOTW and Elden Ring. Skywalker saga isn't a bad game, but it is aggressively held back by some of its bad design. But that's just for me, some people like their open world games like that.
I really love this game from the graphics, exploration, characters, and I really enjoyed the story but TCS will always be my favorite lego Star Wars game.
So far I’ve really enjoyed Star Wars the skywalker saga but my biggest complaint as someone who’s beat the game, collected most collectables and played since launch my biggest gripe with the game is that when you complete an open world mission you can’t replay it, might seem like a nitpick but it really makes the open world boring when everything isn’t intractable. The open world for most levels after 100% completion is very boring because of nothing to do.
The biggest disappointment to me is that the levels are not levels. It’s just walking around, shooting someone, or using a panel. There are no puzzles, no parkour, nothing to keep you engaged. And you don’t even have to engage in combat mostly. It’s just walking around. I went back and played all the old Lego games because they actually have puzzles or things to do besides being handheld as you walk for the entire game
After playing through the game I truly believe that the prequel levels where added as an afterthought the Ot and St levels are so much more interesting
One thing that you did not mention, is how youre not able to do anything by yourself in the first level, there's always some annoying tutorial that shows you exactly what to do so you can't figure it out yourself. Like, with TCS, you were thrown into the level and had some simple indicators that you could this and that but not freezing your gameplay for a tutorial like in the skywalker saga
6:10 small correction, if you just go for the mission objective in the negotiations level in TCS, you can fairly easily complete the level in well under 2 minutes. In fact, finishing the story of each prequal movie in less than half an hour is really easy even without using any crazy speedrun stats. However, the short levels of TCS hold so much more reply value and charm than the levels in TSS that it more than makes up for it imo
All I wanted from this game was Clone Wars Season 7 content and maybe a battle arena where you can fight against a bunch of AI (similar to the Dejarik mini-game in Lego Star Wars the Force Awakens). I really can't find a reason to even finish the other episodes when the game feels so empty...
the whole game in general just seemed fishy to me from the beginning. the intro having rey talking about finding her place in all this everytime the game starts? i'll tell you were your place is, in the bin with the rest of disney. then with Jar Jar in the intro, the way he reacts when he realizes the camera is behind him just reminds me of some normally naughty kid trying to be on their best behavior I get he's the butt of the joke but still. then you can't make the protocol droid hop around on one leg? that was one of the best things about the older games. everything else I didn't like about this game basically boils down to feeling like there is either nothing really going on in the game or your just walking a long distance everywhere. I kept thinking that the game would start to get better and there would be some real levels with some real action kinda like the old games but no. everything just turns into walking around some level do task then move. and a lot of the levels kinda feel the same.
This is the first LEGO game where I have no desire to hop on first thing and grind to 100%. But I love it more than any game simply for the factor of exploring the worlds.
i don't understand how this game got such got reviews. it's absolute trash compared when you line it up with previous LEGO games. no puzzles, boring level design, so much walking, boring cinematics...
my only guess is because its different than the rest or most of the fans of this game either never played a previous lego game before or just don't remember how they played. another factor is that the gaming community just really unfairly favors games with good looking graphics
RoTS has a special place in my heart as well. I agree that they missed the mark on a lot of things in The Skywalker Saga. I'll play it every so often for years to come but it definitely could have been way better. It feels like they lost what made LEGO games so special. I also think they tried making the game far too PG and accessible. They tried making a game everyone from 5yo to 80yo can play and enjoy and by doing so they made it less enjoyable for 90% of the player-base.
The only reason people like Skywalker saga and not Lego Force Awakens is because Skywalker saga gives them nostalgica and Force Awakens dont. For them it doesnt matter how well the levels or puzzles are made, only nostalgia. While nostalgia is part of it, its defently not all of it.
I have two main issues with this game. The first being that each area doesn't actually change, they stay the same despite them having supposed to have changed during the films (for example kamino. After episode 3, Kamino is destroyed. It would have been so much fun if we got to explore a destroyed or even sunken Kamino facility). And my second main gripe is the lack if a customisable character. When I bought the game, the key thing I was looking forward to the most was making my own custom character, so after finishing the game and not finding the ability to make one, I took to Google to find out how I made one, and I'm sure you can tell my disappointment when I discovered there wasn't one.
I’m glad somebody brought up how short the first level in phantom menace feels- because that’s my biggest gripe with the game. I actually feel like all of the prequel levels felt far too short, especially when you compare them to the old levels. Yet, the sequel and original levels felt longer and more fun. To me personally, it felt like they didn’t give a shit about the prequels, and that’s disappointing to me because like you, those are my favorite movies :/
The worst part for me is definitely the cutscenes; they feel kind of lifeless. I do like the combat for the most part, but the spaceships feel awkward to control at times. . Haven't gotten around to the actual exploration yet so hopefully that will be enjoyable.
Actually Lego Star Wars The Videogame did have the Tuscan Raider Camp Rampage as a level. It was suck into the GBA port of the game. There were even unused cutscenes used for the GBA version. It showed Anakin's mom being chased and attacked by Tuskan Raiders. In a later cutscene Anakin is at the camp and watches his mom die in his arms. In this level you’re tasked with eliminating all the camp inhabitants. A victory fare even plays once your rampage is done. LOL
@@AndysTake Well it’s not made up. I actually have the game on my GBA and even I was shocked and surprised by the appearance. Props to whoever snuck that level in without TT games knowing.
@@MrScaryPasta haha yeah that’s what I’m saying, cool trivia. Also, I miss the days of the good old gameboys :’( colour, advanced, and advanced SP. good times.
The originals seemed to be more clear on what needed to be done while also still providing plenty of freedom within levels and blocks to collect. Skywalker Saga has convoluted menus, levels that often feel boring or poorly designed, puzzles for blocks that aren't fun to do, etc. Maybe this is a case of "less is more"? This game kinda feels like they took the core mechanics and gameplay of the originals and tried to stretch it out over bigger worlds and more ambitious menus, etc.
One thing you didn't really mention which I considerably noticed when playing this game, was the lack of accessibility for people new to video games. when I was in college I used to love inviting people (like my ex girlfriend) over to my apartment and play Lego Star wars. some of my friends and my ex hardly play video games but when I had them play The Complete Saga with me, they were able to pick up the simplistic controls rather quickly. I mean it was what... Three buttons and the left stick? and managed to have a great time playing with me where other games I tried getting them to play like halo gave them motion sickness. When this game came out, I invited all my friends to play it me like we did with the complete saga, and the controls were completely different. With this game, you're hugging your entire controller doing basic tasks, and now that they switched from fixed camera to over the shoulder, my friends STRUGGLED just to maneuver around these maze like worlds. a lot of the charm of the old games was how easy it was to just pick up and play and fuck around in the hub world, Make a goofy ass character, and Play any mission you want and you know you'll have a blast. pretty much all of that has been either gutted or heavily altered to the point where you can't really do that anymore.
I was content with the game after playing it. However, I thought there were some massive missed opportunities. I was excited to hopefully fight Palpatine as Mace but they for some reason made that amazing fight a cutscene along with the Vader/Obi Wan fight in ep4. I do also think that the over-the-top lego humor can be a bit immersion breaking for me at times
This is definitely not the best lego star wars game but I feel like it’s important none the less, at least to me. I haven’t watched anything from Star Wars since the Force Awakens and playing this game made me remember how much I love this franchise. You can tell the developers put so much love into this game with its humor and references and to me this game is like a calling back to the franchise after so many years without seeing anything from it. This wasn’t a great game, but it reminded me why I love Star Wars
I quit playing a few hours in. I felt like most of it was just about running around following markers. I would have probably dealt with that if I didn't constantly have to follow painfully slow NPCs
I feel the problem stems from making most of the content in the game the hub worlds. Lego games look like they are moving into more of a collection of hub worlds with a short campaign connecting them rather than small hub words that expand the main story.
I still haven't finished the game (because I think it's boring and needs mods/patching/updates to make it better) but my favorite hub space so far is the Hoth Echo base by far. It's big, there are secrets to find and things to do, lots of Rebel troops walking around, and I've always dreamed about going there and exploring since I was a kid.
There's also another problem I had with certain levels, there were character model glitches where Darth Vader was walking down a hallway but he was Invisible, with just his lightsaber floating there, which completely ruined the 'awesome factor of the scene'. This also happened on many other occasions
i see this lost potential as another covid death. if the devs had not been interrupted by the physical, emotional, and economic tolls of the pandemic i think this game would have reached it's full potential
I was not disappointment by this game but I know how you feel since I felt this way after breath of the wild but I do have a few nitpicks about this game and I agree with the points you made , but I can agree the complete saga is better though .
that is untrue. I almost fell asleep during this game considering how there’s so little things to do. Talk and walk and more talking. In the originals there isn’t any narration of what to do. It’s just good levels design.
To sum it up: 1. No og Yoda scream 2. No customs 3. No playable Geonosians, besides Poggle but I mean like Sun Fac, soldiers, even the zombie ones. 4. Too many characters no one knows or cares about taking away possible spots for way more memorable characters like the force ghosts. 5. Such a huge disappointment after playing games like DC villains and Marvel Superheros 2. Like I was expecting that level of custom availability with this game and to find out there was literally none broke my heart. Haven’t even bought or played it but from everything I’ve seen it’s a pretty big downgrade compared to their last games.
The new games I never played they look great, but they look boring AF... I loved playing the old school ones with my Nephew and Niece when they were little. Was great fun, trying to help them work out the puzzles, it was actually challenging for them. I remember seeing, hmmm which one was it? Maybe it was one of the Indiana Jones ones? it was one of the newer ones and I remember the kids telling me they were too easy now. But they wouldn't get why that is a problem because of course they like the silly jokes and breaking stuff and now they are into other stuff... It's disappointing because Lego star wars was like the FLAGSHIP series for the Lego franchise. Sad to see them drop the ball on this one :(
Exactly! Lego Star Wars was so fantastic back in the day, and is still fun because of its clarity, hard and interesting puzzles and hidden treasures, including the way you finished every level and saw how you did afterwards. This new one is just so saturated, and has fallen into the trap of the open world everything-at-once philosophy, while also being as “wide as an ocean, but as deep as a puddle”. Sad :(
@@AndysTake for sure. It's obvious that they worked a lot on modernising the game but not really on content. I'm sure that the point of the Lego games initially was to simplify the graphic design so that the Devs could focus on great content. Now it's a like the complete opposite. They've focused on making Lego very very pretty. But the power of Lego games is that they get to have a very simplistic art style which is allowed to get away with repetition in ways that other art styles can't (similar to Minecraft, etc). With some luck all these assets and modernisation of the Lego franchise will allow them to devote more time to fleshing the next title out. I doubt they will but you have to be hopeful. It's a bit like total war. I'm not a huge fan of Warhammer as you may or may not remember. But I have to tell myself that it's ok to have them pump out 3 titles back to back because it means the team has made huge strides with the engine and Historic fans will reap the benefits with whatever our next title will be. Lego series in general was fantastic and I hope that this is just a stumble instead of a new trend. I know it's hard to believe that to be the case, but we have to hope. And hopefully critical reviews like yours reach the Devs and of course the publishers (who I am sure are the ones messing this up just like always). Thanks for this video Andy. This was a bit different and I'm sure with time if you do more content for other games that you'll attract some other fans too. Just remember to make what you love and find interesting, we viewers matter but the more of you we get out here the more people you will attract and make fans of yours. So don't be too discouraged by the performance of the video so far, I saw the poll and was like poor Andy probably worried he's annoyed the subscribers. Most of your viewers are probably very particular people who like strategy games, and this is a huge swing from your normal content. But I think it's a good idea to mix it up and just talk about the games that you like. After all people may come for the Lego Star wars and find some other cool games you've been talking about. Or like find out that there's a huge modding scene for a game they used to play. You have a great style, watching your videos is like having a conversation with a friend. You know? When you catch up with someone and they're like "omg have you played XYZ? You have to try it!" Lackluster levers that were extremely short. For some reason it seem the the Prequels didn't get much love like the Original Trilogy and Sequels. Multiple escort "missions".
The core of the game is perfect. The main issue I had is when I completed the first episode without doing side missions it was like 41% complete. Like wtf? The story should be atleast 70-76% of an episode
I agree 100%. I want to like it, but a clumsy UI, terrible levelling system, and too many idiotic side quests or tedious treasure hunting keep discouraging me from that elusive 100%. After finishing all of the stories, trying to get to 100% seems more like work than fun.
Agreed. I finished the story a few months ago and since then, I've not wanted to go and do everything. Back in 05, 08 and 06 I did it all right away or close enough. Now I just can't be bothered.
They literally put zero effort into the actual story, which is what a lot of people wanted. They took out the old gameplay and took the parts missing from the old game and made it playable. Half of the story mode is doing quite literally nothing. I feel like the old game had actual progress and you could sort of tell what you were doing. The new game just adds random areas of gameplay that take forever to get through and is boring. It's roughly 75% cutscenes, 15% gameplay, and 10% walking around. The open-world experience is cool but takes way too much time. It gets extremely repetitive after a while and I got bored after about 50% total completion. I don't like the free roam inside the actual levels. I really wanted them to commit to making the levels themselves much longer. It's much easier than the original game and I think it would have been better with more (real) problem-solving. Even my younger siblings were getting bored of the story mode, even though we could play the original on the Wii for hours. It was fun when it was still hyped up, but once people saw how much of a disappointment the game really is, the hype died down and most ppl stopped playing it.
I feel like it was very rushed through the saga, like a lot of stuff in the original we would hope would be in the new one wasn’t, it just felt really quick but it was still enjoyable
I think missions lack replayability also, I wanted to %100 and immediately I dreaded having to go back to certain missions to do them again. For example the first film underwater mission with the big fish. I still have not done it because I don’t want to do it again
For me the game's pacing is good and the walking missions is alright for me, because i played A LOT of open world games. And just walking, looking at the good graphics is cool for me. Also the quests for me are really fun. For me the walking mission is not a filler it just shows what happened in the movie, we got more detailed story telling, the combat is amazing, and the flying is like battlefront 2 so... I don't have any complaints, only the custom characters.
Needs coop and character creation. But the thing people are overlooking is how big the universe is in skywalker saga. There is more side content than people realize. I just think it would be more fun to do that side content as your own character
This is very much a mixed bag. In the other games you spent more times on the levels initially. However they were split over several locations and if you went to check something at the side of the screen or hit a switch you went to the next area and could not go back. You had to restart the whole level whether you were in story or free play. Now these are all contained in a single huge level which is good, but gives the feeling of a lot of empty space. The earlier games also ended with a 15 minute long boss battle. They were long because you never knew what you had to do and in what order and when. These were very frustrating during the first or second play through. So now the boss battles use the same fighting system as the rest of the game and all boss battles are pretty much the same, making them quicker and some what less exciting. When you combine these elements, not having to go through several rooms and shortening the boss battle gives a very quick story mode. They tried to pad this out with a lot of walking and talking. On the plus side space combat is much better but over used. Fetch quest are very annoying, but do take to areas you you had most likely not been to. Bad camera angles while jumping and fighting are worse than ever. The best part of the game is exploring the levels and the brick puzzles. Since this is the main point of the game and you have to get a character for the gold, silver, cracked wall, net and glider (as in any Lego game) Shortening the story portion of the game to get you this part does make sense. There is more good here than bad, but the story mode that is everyone's favorite part got shortchanged.
This game taught me I prefer platformers. The older lego star wars played like platformers. I've never been able to get into open world. However, my brother loves the open world, so he likes this one better than me.
I keep trying to like this game, it just feels shallow. The "choice" on how to tackle the levels and puzzles give a fake sense of decisions. It can require a couple of different classes but alas, I just think the devs tried to tackle way too many directions. The actual environments are gorgeous, it's a lack of level design and the open world feels empty. I balked at the part where you take a short walk from the moisture farm to go and kill the Tusken Raiders in Episode 2, it was such a short distance that should have been a decent speeder bike ride. You are going to witness a turning point in Anakin's life albeit in an abridged lego way. I also wish the bosses could actually kill you. We might just be too old and this game might be for babies. It's a miss but not the worst game ever I'll just wait until Jedi Fallen Order 2 for a better action/exploration experience in a Star Wars game.
the scene was so botched, the one where Anakin goes back to his mom, because he doesn't kill anyone, in fact, nobody really dies in this game, except maybe Snoke....I feel like Disney or some outside or inside force decided that kids couldn't handle death in a video game
i 100% agree. The old games where really good. Jumping from the cantina into the levels. Replaying a level with a character just to get that extra unlockable. I somehow don't find myself returning to the game after a few hours. Its not enticing enough

@@san_holo7784 For me, I don't count the Complete Saga because it's a compilation of the first two Lego Star Wars games, but if I have to rank my Lego Star Wars games Then. #5. The Force Awakens #4. Lego Star Wars 2 #3. Lego Star Wars 3 #2. Lego Star Wars 1 And #1. The Skywalker Saga. I just think Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga's the best one out of the 5, next to Lego Star Wars 1.
Yeah honestly, I didn't play through the whole game, but I physically can't, the droid factory mission is too laggy for me, it sucks that this game turned out the way it did
This Video described everything perfectly how i feel I was so hyped for this game and then stopped playing mid episode 1 because of the walking and talking. I then played ep4 but also lost my interest mid way trough. I really hope for a big update where all the missing content is added but sadly i don‘t think they will do that
For me, the Skywalker saga is 90% spectacular and 10% that could be improved. Add: Invincibility Character creator Secondary weapons on the ships (like missiles or something, and seismic charges for the Slave One ships!) Some, if not all, of the things other commenters have said here And I think, for me, it’d be 100%. I also could do without the level challenges and the time trials with those green things you go through.
Let me sum up the issue with this game New hope scene " Look at him, he's heading for that small moon." "i think I can get him before he gets there.., he's almost in range." ".....that's no moon...it's a space station."- "it's too big to be a space station..!" And then as they all start to realize, it tracks them in and Hans forced to shut down the engines while this looming object slowly gets closer, the music intensifying and this ominous sound of droning from both the Death Star and the Millennium Falcon. Whereas in this game it absolutely would rather get a stupid joke in that takes 5 seconds than work in any attempt to make a scene serious and studiously dramatic basically just "He's heading for that small moon." "Thats noo moon." 2 seconds later they're already going into the docking bay. The jokes never land in this game, and they make it comprise entire game.., I knew the developers were a bunch of immature meme freaks who took the only chance to get an entire saga and ruined it for everyone else, because now having two modern star wars trio saga games would be overkill (but I would rather have someone more intelligent and mature make their version of the game where this one failed...they can even make the levels beautifully updated versions of the originals because the originals were great.; so still overkill, especially for lego to have 5/6 star wars games just for lego) Everything about this game is a waste of time, every character is unfunny to every age, these detached game developers really tried to appeal to children of which they never encounter by putting in jokes that are either physical comedy that goes on too long, or a meme joke a kid wouldn't even understand with silly voice lines or moans. What was that about how every planet will be explorable? Every part of the planet at that to where you can physically drive your ships into a planet and land anywhere (which I understand why they didn't add that feature...but promised it and so already failed at making a premise...- eh, promise.
I thought the colouring in was hilarious. They trolled him to death. The map interaction really frustrates me. Not sure what platform you're playing on but on PS5 you press down on the D Pad to open the local area map then the giant rectangular button to close it.
I agree the colouring is hilarious hahaha, I love the fun they have with Anakin in particular, but some of those more serious scenes, like with his mom and the dream, are just a bit… not it, for me.
There's a lot of empty space in this game filled out by dialog. Undeniably charming dialog, admittedly, but it doesn't replace the way the old game was chock-full of secrets and puzzles. I assume it was a casualty of the huge hub worlds (which I think are still fun to just walk around and explore.) Edit: I turned off the minimap in the options, and It completely changed how I feel about the game. I'm no longer staring at the map to get a prompt or an objective marker, I'm just looking around the world and thinking, "Oh hey, that's interesting!" And wandering over. It's a great way to play! It's not a game meant to be played like the first ones, it's a lego world meant to get lost and wander around in.
Games very fun it is definitely a good game but yeah I was confused why the levels were so short it almost seemed rushed. If it was that’s pretty stupid considering they even delayed the game.
They delayed it YEARS. I was a junior in highschool when they delayed it the first time now I’m a junior in college and it came out as a stinky turd. Think about that for a second
@@sound4117 The boss battles were actually pretty good the only problem was that every boss had the same attacks. Ground slam, heavy attack combo, rush attack, basic attacks and quick time events which were always the same two except for some exceptions like the palpatine boss fights the rancor or jabba. Jabba was a really boring boss fights though.

@@PeterGriffin11 I know for a fact that emperor palpatine CAN use force lightning IF you do the right combo, it’s the force ability button but I think it only does the lightning after specific attacks.
I have 3 main gripes
Idk.
This game doesn't really show you you're accomplishments and unlocks in the world itself, just in some menu, which isn't rewarding in my opinion
Granted, I've not finished the game so some of these things MIGHT be in the game, but I doubt it because I've not come across them like 25 hours in
you don’t need a hub world in this game lmao
I agree with 1 and 2, and I'm hoping against hope that 2 and 3 are addressed in a future update. It shouldn't be too hard to have enemies in the open world, and I could see those collectible rooms being implemented into the capital ships you own
my absolute main gripe is that the puzzles suck.
Nah it shows your accomplishments by getting by platinum /j
I couldn’t have said it better myself
It just feels rushed, even though they delayed it so many times. I just completed Return of the Jedi, and they completely skip out on blowing up the Death Star. Instead they just show it in a cutscene. Blowing up the Death Star is probably the biggest part of the movies, and it's just skipped. They also just show Han pressing a button to take the shields down, another part skipped by a cutscene
Wait, you don’t actually go into the Death Star and shoot the reactor?
@@solo_leo4454 They put more love into the space battle from Phantom Menace than Jedi.
It is awful. Same as scrapping battle of Coruscant in 3. I remember how much fun this was in 2 and tcs. Losing it here is insane. If it really was to make it 5 levels, 1 of endor or jabba could have been cut.
This really pissed me off they didn’t include the mission when u destroy the Death Star it’s just a cutscene
It's kinda sad since this has a five-year development cycle with mass crunch to boot

YES this bugs me to death! Like what the heck, it's like they didnt even try
Have you guys played a Lego game in the past decade? They’ve done that forever.

Istg, most of the levels are just vehicle or lackluster boss battles
Yeah exactly, the levels are WAY too short, it’s almost insulting how short they are.
i just think its bc, we are too old
They had 9 movies to work with so I see how they would kind of skimp out on that. The complete Saha could flesh out the levels because of the amount of movies. The game still has around 40 levels witch is alot. I also prefer quality over quantity tho and it sucks the amount of important scenes were left out. Like the whole space scene in rots.
How bout you try to code the entire game with every one of it’s features on a deadline
I prefer shorter levels for that sense of, "Wow. I'm so good. I do this so fast," and also TSS is about the open world
Personally I absolutely love this game. But I agree with you on the level problem... I was so disappointed about the length of the levels and that there are only 5 Minikits instead of 10 in each level.
I agree with some points as well, overall I absolutely enjoyed this game sooo much. I'm surprised no reviews have mentioned how they ruined freeplay mode. In so many levels the game forces you to use certain characters mostly in boss fight levels and vehicle levels won't let you switch vehicles at all.
You can replay the levels in freeplay
@@benroy3198 you are missing the point, Freeplay in vehicle missions most of them you can't switch vehicles, hell I got stuck with a ship that had no guns in the trench run and could not switch. Plus in freemode it locks your character during boss fights to specific characters.
Eh....they didn't "ruin it" but that is an issue.
Not to mention the level designs don't have any alternative paths or areas that can only be accessed by different characters once you unlock them. That was the whole point of freeplay for me and its non existent here.
@@sound4117 It's not that worse though....so they didn't ruin it.

You mentioned all the errors that I think the game has, but for me they are very tiny :)
If you compare two things that shouldn’t be compared you will be disappointed with one
This is exactly my view
yup this was exactly what i thought of the game as well. At first i was disappointed cause of the story. but once i finished ep6, i decided to just do stuff in the open world and actually had more fun there than on the missions xD
im still kind of annoyed that costumes are considered different characters, yet, they dont have different animations like they did in the older lego star wars games. episode 2 anakin has the same animations as episode 3 anakin -_- and this is true for other characters as well
I don't think it's just different, I think it's just bad.
What about the lego clone wars game???
@@monkeybuildz this is gonna break your heart but…I don’t like clone wars💀
So far I’ve really enjoyed Star Wars the skywalker saga but my biggest complaint as someone who’s beat the game, collected most collectables and played since launch my biggest gripe with the game is that when you complete an open world mission you can’t replay it, might seem like a nitpick but it really makes the open world boring when everything isn’t intractable. The open world for most levels after 100% completion is very boring because of nothing to do.
This game made me realize that exploration for the sake of exploration is boring
Is it just me or does this seem to be a thing with Disney, mostly giving priority to the OG and ST trilogies.
Yeah they took a big steamy turd on revenge of the sith
@@AndysTakeNo no It is exactly like this
One thing that you did not mention, is how youre not able to do anything by yourself in the first level, there's always some annoying tutorial that shows you exactly what to do so you can't figure it out yourself.
Finally someone who appreciates Disney Infinity 3.0 like I so. Such an underrated game!
Indeed it is! :D
I have nostalgia, but I still feel like the levels are bad :/
I agree 100%. They were probably told to do that in purpose.
The Tusken Raider camp mission was so disappointing! I was expecting a fight and got a short-boring cutscene.
The worst part for me is definitely the cutscenes; they feel kind of lifeless. I do like the combat for the most part, but the spaceships feel awkward to control at times. . Haven't gotten around to the actual exploration yet so hopefully that will be enjoyable.
what did you think about the explorations? for me personally, that was the best part of the game
Cry
Actually Lego Star Wars The Videogame did have the Tuscan Raider Camp Rampage as a level. It was suck into the GBA port of the game. There were even unused cutscenes used for the GBA version. It showed Anakin's mom being chased and attacked by Tuskan Raiders.
In a later cutscene Anakin is at the camp and watches his mom die in his arms. In this level you’re tasked with eliminating all the camp inhabitants. A victory fare even plays once your rampage is done. LOL
wow thanks for that obscure trivia!
@@AndysTake
Well it’s not made up. I actually have the game on my GBA and even I was shocked and surprised by the appearance. Props to whoever snuck that level in without TT games knowing.
@@MrScaryPasta haha yeah that’s what I’m saying, cool trivia. Also, I miss the days of the good old gameboys :’( colour, advanced, and advanced SP. good times.
Man I miss the puzzle boss fights, they could’ve been so creative in this game
My biggest complaint about the game is the character classes. The classes limited each characters abilities and modified the weapons.
Honestly a big for for me is no ground battles in the open world. I don’t feel like i can actually have fun with the new characters I just bought.
Phantom menace was hilarious with the maul part at the end. But unfortunately it just got progressively worse for me after that.
Cry harder
This is definitely not the best lego star wars game but I feel like it’s important none the less, at least to me. I haven’t watched anything from Star Wars since the Force Awakens and playing this game made me remember how much I love this franchise. You can tell the developers put so much love into this game with its humor and references and to me this game is like a calling back to the franchise after so many years without seeing anything from it. This wasn’t a great game, but it reminded me why I love Star Wars
I understand :)

The absolute biggest waste is NO FORCE GHOSTS. It would’ve been the PERFECT reward for 100% completion.
The main part that bugs me the most is how there's no music in the cutscenes, it makes everything feel lifeless and empty
The Complete Saga is more faithful than the Skywalker Saga. It keeps the Star Wars mystique, maturity, and adventure.
i see this lost potential as another covid death.
if the devs had not been interrupted by the physical, emotional, and economic tolls of the pandemic i think this game would have reached it's full potential

I was not disappointment by this game but I know how you feel since I felt this way after breath of the wild but I do have a few nitpicks about this game and I agree with the points you made , but I can agree the complete saga is better though .
Say the complete saga came out now and the skywalker saga came out then, you wouldnt be saying that....
that is untrue. I almost fell asleep during this game considering how there’s so little things to do. Talk and walk and more talking. In the originals there isn’t any narration of what to do. It’s just good levels design.
To sum it up:
1. No og Yoda scream
2. No customs
You have to try it!" That's such a good vibe and that's why I've been a long time fan of yours so don't worry too much Andy I doubt you're going to drive away people from the channel, after all we all know how much you love your RTS and GSGs. Lackluster levers that were extremely short. For some reason it seem the the Prequels didn't get much love like the Original Trilogy and Sequels. Multiple escort "missions".
I disagree I had a great time playing this game
Maybe what they should is try to start over on this game and fix it. They should try to make it more like the GameCube versions.
The core of the game is perfect. The main issue I had is when I completed the first episode without doing side missions it was like 41% complete. Like wtf? The story should be atleast 70-76% of an episode
Agreed. Ever since the 2010s, they've gone way too far there.
Man, I was pissed when I found out customisation was gone
CRY
I feel like it was very rushed through the saga, like a lot of stuff in the original we would hope would be in the new one wasn’t, it just felt really quick but it was still enjoyable
I think missions lack replayability also, I wanted to %100 and immediately I dreaded having to go back to certain missions to do them again. For example the first film underwater mission with the big fish. I still have not done it because I don’t want to do it again
I swear if I hear another person say revenge of the Sith is your favorite movie and I’m gonna lose it
Revenge of the Sith is my favourite movie.
Sorry im late to the party but revenge of the sith is my fav star wars movie 👊
For me the game's pacing is good and the walking missions is alright for me, because i played A LOT of open world games. And just walking, looking at the good graphics is cool for me. Also the quests for me are really fun. For me the walking mission is not a filler it just shows what happened in the movie, we got more detailed story telling, the combat is amazing, and the flying is like battlefront 2 so... I don't have any complaints, only the custom characters.
I agree
Same. A character creator would be sweet but I'll live without it. Loving this game.
Needs coop and character creation. But the thing people are overlooking is how big the universe is in skywalker saga. There is more side content than people realize. I just think it would be more fun to do that side content as your own character
It’s sad we never got a Crait speeder mission or exegol space mission
Agree with this. Tried so hard to get into this game but just wasn’t as fun as the old sagas I grew up on unfortunately
I remember actually being excited for this game when the trailer dropped in like 2019 what a shame
I hate that boba and jango can’t fly for more than 1 millisecond
Feel the same way :/ extremely disappointing with how short the levels are.
the scene was so botched, the one where Anakin goes back to his mom, because he doesn't kill anyone, in fact, nobody really dies in this game, except maybe Snoke....I feel like Disney or some outside or inside force decided that kids couldn't handle death in a video game
Wait the bosses cant kill you
@@eeurr1306 no they can it's just very unlikely
i 100% agree. The old games where really good. Jumping from the cantina into the levels. Replaying a level with a character just to get that extra unlockable. I somehow don't find myself returning to the game after a few hours. Its not enticing enough

Truer words :/
Let me sum up the issue with this game
New hope scene
" Look at him, he's heading for that small moon."
"i think I can get him before he gets there.., he's almost in range."
".....that's no moon...it's a space station."- "it's too big to be a space station..!"
And then as they all start to realize, it tracks them in and Hans forced to shut down the engines while this looming object slowly gets closer, the music intensifying and this ominous sound of droning from both the Death Star and the Millennium Falcon.
Whereas in this game it absolutely would rather get a stupid joke in that takes 5 seconds than work in any attempt to make a scene serious and studiously dramatic basically just
"He's heading for that small moon."
"Thats noo moon."
2 seconds later they're already going into the docking bay.
The jokes never land in this game, and they make it comprise entire game.., I knew the developers were a bunch of immature meme freaks who took the only chance to get an entire saga and ruined it for everyone else, because now having two modern star wars trio saga games would be overkill (but I would rather have someone more intelligent and mature make their version of the game where this one failed...they can even make the levels beautifully updated versions of the originals because the originals were great.; so still overkill, especially for lego to have 5/6 star wars games just for lego)
Everything about this game is a waste of time, every character is unfunny to every age, these detached game developers really tried to appeal to children of which they never encounter by putting in jokes that are either physical comedy that goes on too long, or a meme joke a kid wouldn't even understand with silly voice lines or moans.
@@AndysTake it’s a lego game for fetuses
There's a lot of empty space in this game filled out by dialog. Undeniably charming dialog, admittedly, but it doesn't replace the way the old game was chock-full of secrets and puzzles. I assume it was a casualty of the huge hub worlds (which I think are still fun to just walk around and explore.)
Edit: I turned off the minimap in the options, and It completely changed how I feel about the game.
Yeah exactly! Feel the same way
They delayed it YEARS. I was a junior in highschool when they delayed it the first time now I’m a junior in college and it came out as a stinky turd. Think about that for a second
@@Kane-qf8dn I still give it a fairly high score sorry you waited so long for it.
@@Kane-qf8dn even Cyberpunk redeemed itself with a good story and gameplay despite the many technical issues and cut features
One of my biggest disapointments were that Kamino didnt have its iconic music
I fecking miss that music whenever it’s not there…
The boss battles are actually way better then what I saw in past games.
lol what
@@sound4117 The boss battles were actually pretty good the only problem was that every boss had the same attacks. Ground slam, heavy attack combo, rush attack, basic attacks and quick time events which were always the same two except for some exceptions like the palpatine boss fights the rancor or jabba. Jabba was a really boring boss fights though.
