My first drum teacher told me 15+ years ago: "before buying anything else, invest on a good throne". To this date, that's the best drumming advice I've ever gotten.
For sure. My first throne was a shit, no name round throne off Amazon. The tightening knob broke in half after the first few days and the seat would just constantly lower on its own, all the time. I threw that out and bought a Gibraltar 6608 drum throne and it makes such a difference having something sturdy and solid under you.
For the first 5 or 6 years of my drumming life I used a computer lab stool and it worked fine, but when it broke I went all out and got myself a Pearl D-2500BR. The difference that a nice stool makes cannot be overstated
You forgot the Matt Halpern triple deep V tee. Feel like this will really take my playing where it needs to go. That’s the only thing on my list this year.
I've got that same stick bag on my floor tom. When I was marching tenors in HS we got new ones, and I took the one I used for 3 years home. Very useful!
Been drumming for as long as I remember, my parents got me that marching stick bag and I still have it 10+ years later going strong. Been through everything with it
Man...... those were some great ideas! I am definitely getting some of those beaters. I play in some small places and I would imagine that second fuzzy one would be perfect. Your channel is fantastic bud!
Great list. Most of those I’d be happy to get. Except that throne. I really dislike the bike shape and hydraulic thrones. I purchased my last throne based on which one took the most effort to move or giggle. The ability to adjust quickly is like a drawback more than a feature to me.
Whenever I'm trying to play along to a song on the drums, the sound is just too low because of how loud the drums are. Do I have to get better headphones?
getting 2 6" gibraltar cymbal stackers, a swivel drum key, that agazarian cymbal stack but im using the 2 seperate cymbals, a capo, a couple packs of strings, a rammstein t shirt and a slipknot t shirt so far
The best thing i did was buying the sticks first. You can practice anything anywhere. Rudiments, rythyms, speed. U can practice on your leg (got my double strokes to 200bpm without rebound), on your table, etc. The biggest issue is people who dont like noise
Hi I love ur channel and you’ve inspired me to stain my drums and upgrade them, can you make a video showing how to record drums and how to do everything on the computer to make it into one track or whatever you do
Hey,nice vid!I've been watching you for quite some time and even though I'm getting an Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit I'm still gonna watch you because you are amazing!Keep up the good work!\m/
i actually use an off-brand (softer) more pliable version of silly putty to mute my snare drum. it sounds great, the putty cost me $1 for enough to roll over the entire head
For IEMS there are more better starting options like ones from KZ, TRN, Tin Audio etc., I know hes sponsored but if you really want to dive in IEMS i recommend checking out the ones i mention above if you want to check out IEMS without breaking the bank
Hey David, thanks for the videos! Enjoy all of them, the meeaudio in ears? Do you still use them? How have they held up? Are they still worth the $60 price of the MX1's? Just curious as I was thinking about picking up a pair as my first in ears. thnx !
You should do a review on the Kz Zst In ears! They're a really good quality pair of ears from around $20! I would love to see your reaction to them from a drummers standpoint!
Hey dude, steve from New York. Love the vids, but, Haven’t seen all of them yet, although would like to hear your take on affordable mics for my kit. Any suggestions?

Just ordered the cheapest pearl throne off of thomann. Hopefully it ain't shit.
@@dude6966 is it good or a piece of shit
@@dude6966 was it good?
Why not just use a regular tortilla?
It works....
You can get 15 for the price of 1
@Arnav Gairola dont eat that though, theres gonna be problems
Very messy with salsa
@Mette B that only adds to the sound
The drum tortillas makes the snare sound like an 808 snare

Parker Murray I do!
Prrrreeecisely! :D
I recommend the Jumbo Gel™ dampening system. It make for a great gift.
Also the SlapKlatz are a great dampening system 👌 only drawback is that they leave a sticky mark after some use
Im not the drummer and i dont have a friend who is drummer so what im doing here
New Bieskut cos you're gonna be a drummer
New Bieskut learn how to play, you won’t regret it

I'm a big fan of the Tama cymbal mates. I don't gig a whole lot but they're so convenient. Also the Gibraltar quick release hi-hat clutch.
I've got that same stick bag on my floor tom. When I was marching tenors in HS we got new ones, and I took the one I used for 3 years home. Very useful!
Whats on your wish list this year?
*Everyone seems to be interested in the hihats, theyre 15" Meinl Dual Hats*
David's beard!!
I need to upgrade my laptop from a Toshiba, cheap Mac or hackintosh 🤔
A custom Mastersound hihats!
Stick bag. Been playing for three years and still haven't gotten myself one.
The new Prologix Blackout pad.

Great ideas - really like the beater options you featured. But more importantly...KILLER DRUM BEATS!
I always enjoy hearing your improv for the testing/example!
Ye but guitarists are the most PICKy

I’m gonna have to ask you to leave
That wearable metronome thing is pretty cool. Ive never seen one of those before.
TJC Drums yeah they look cool. You can sync multiple ones up, so everyone in the band can wear one.
Man...... those were some great ideas! I am definitely getting some of those beaters. I play in some small places and I would imagine that second fuzzy one would be perfect. Your channel is fantastic bud!
Cool grooves when you played with the drum tortilla.👍
Adventure drums shows you why
I was waiting for this video to come out! I knew it would lol! (This is going straight to my mom) lop
Sound quality sounding better every video. That hihat and snare was such a nice mix for this one 💕💕💕💕
Great list. Most of those I’d be happy to get. Except that throne. I really dislike the bike shape and hydraulic thrones. I purchased my last throne based on which one took the most effort to move or giggle. The ability to adjust quickly is like a drawback more than a feature to me.
New subscriber right here.....I'll be sending this to my family and the Mrs....there is not a thing on that list that I wouldn't be happy owning :D
What?!? No shout out for Jumbo Gel? lol.. jk, nice list!
That drum tortilla made it sound so CLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i just bought a dw 5000 throne . i love it. was 115 $ but im 300 lbs needed solid one.
“I don’t have one of these... but I’ve made one before” -rdavidr
Omg!! so very helpful! Needed this video so bad! Lol
Whenever I'm trying to play along to a song on the drums, the sound is just too low because of how loud the drums are. Do I have to get better headphones?
Yes! or work on your volume control.
I like the big full cans that cover my ears. I suck at remembering brands.
Don't forget the drumeo muffling kit, it helps with your snare and it helps with your drum toms😀.
What hi-hats specifically brand and model are you using at 1:56 those sound amazing and I need to buy some ASAP.
most foolproof gift: drumsticks from hardrock cafe
i feel like everyone else forgot about the most obvious one
I still have a 13 year old pair my sister got in a Hard Rock Cafe in Bahrain while she was on deployment.
Great video! And let's not forget STICKS and brushes!
getting 2 6" gibraltar cymbal stackers, a swivel drum key, that agazarian cymbal stack but im using the 2 seperate cymbals, a capo, a couple packs of strings, a rammstein t shirt and a slipknot t shirt so far
Your drum mixing sounds awesome dude
wow, I have never seen an SM7B be used as a snare mic. Sounds great!
The best thing i did was buying the sticks first. You can practice anything anywhere. Rudiments, rythyms, speed. U can practice on your leg (got my double strokes to 200bpm without rebound), on your table, etc. The biggest issue is people who dont like noise
I can realy recommend the puresound 30. Snare will sound so nice
Didn’t know that Rubeus Hagrid could play drums lol
Hagrid always seemed like a bass player to me. Guess I learn something new everyday.
I thought he was a triangle player
Drumming for the last 12 years, so have had my share of things, but this 😍 so much good snacks 😍🙌🔥
I showed this video to my mom and I got the 4 in 1 pad for Christmas.
I’ve been waiting for this video forever. Thank you

even in your examples of playing you have this groovy fucking feel you're a good drummer man
Woah I love the sound of the big fat snare drum
For the practice pad just get the one from drumeo. Highly recommend.
Nice video!! This has some great stuff in it
Spinbal?? Kbrakes?? Lowboy beater?? CRS?? Also great gifts!!
I want one of those bass thumpers under my throne. Use that for a metronome! lol But I want it for my B day. Always wanted one and now is the time.
how can you make a homemade rototom?
Love these vids. Please do more content and builds i voted for ya darn it lol I demand more content

4:00 is that Carolina crown 2011?
it vey well could be. its just a tap roll into a triplet roll ending with 4+ 1. I wasnt a big fan of their show that year.
rdavidr that’s funny it’s the exact same as the first measure of bohemian rhapsody
The video not that we deserved, but what we needed.
Please do a video on how to make a cheap drum set sound good, or what are good, cheap drum sets for beginners?
Head is always a good gift, not only for drummers!
Are there any alternatives to that practice pad? Its because its not in amazon in my country...
1:23 Nice groove!
I ask my wife for remote hi-hats this year for Christmas I love to play open-handed
Your drums sound mad compared to the old studio 👌🏻
I'm interested in that hoodie you're wearing though
Me audio:

M7s:”a little more expensive” 150$, 3x the price😂🤣
This rocked, I appreciate it

That wearable metronome sounds like an awesome idea.
I know this is old, but is there/could there be a video specific to drummers with electric kits?

How do you tune your snare ?
Hey David, thanks for the videos! Enjoy all of them, the meeaudio in ears? Do you still use them? How have they held up? Are they still worth the $60 price of the MX1's? Just curious as I was thinking about picking up a pair as my first in ears. thnx !
Ill make sure to tell my family about these gifts
Those hi hats sound incredible
I usually just get my drummer a stack of job applications, a ride to practice, or the left over pizza to take home.
My Christmas Wishlist
1. A drum kit
2. Other shit
Awesome list.
Have you checked out any of the KZ in ears?
You should do a review on the Kz Zst In ears! They're a really good quality pair of ears from around $20! I would love to see your reaction to them from a drummers standpoint!
I dunno about friends and family but I found some good gifts for myself!
Hey dude, steve from New York. Love the vids, but, Haven’t seen all of them yet, although would like to hear your take on affordable mics for my kit. Any suggestions?
