you can do active sensor bursts to increase your profile to 2k in order to lure patrols away to where you did it then you just get out of the way and go visit the planet

Solar shielding tends to work better since almost all hyperspace is storms, there are absolutely no clear paths to anything outside the core worlds. 20% energy weapon resistance helps in some fights.

A good way to find high tech ships is to find a contact with TriTac. Preferably trade or military i think as they're more likely to offer ship sales, nano-forge orders or send you on bounties to TT traitors who frequently have mostly TT or High tech ships which come in low quantities and are made of glass.
Turns out the underworld guy can give you production runs that at least get you Revenants (cloaked cargo ships) though I have not seen Phantoms yet. I want to run a fleet of Phantom, Revenants smuggling and raiding but never actually being seen.
Can't quite recall where i found my first phantom, probably as an abandoned ship in the outer rim. Revenants do seem to come up from time to time in TT shipyards, though they might be only in the military stock, not entirely sure. Also not sure if they'd be worth it over modded Buffalo or Atlas's, phase ships are costly to run.
@@ham8426 Playing completely unseen is not really worth it. Their are a bunch of missions you can never do as they require you to have your transponder on. For every cloaked ship you add to your fleet you are harder to detect. So with nothing but Revenants and Phantoms we should be able to sneak into anywhere. Fun note, Phantoms and Revenants benefit from the bulk transport speed bonus skill. So get +2 speed from that, thrown in augmented engine +2 and Navigation +1 skill and you have a fleet with a base movement of 13 and a stealth movement of 9!
When you want to smuggle in a system , you should always fuck with their sensor relay if they have one . By “inducing false readings” into it , you can often distract the patrols long enough for you to get in and out. Stealth is surprisingly optional when it comes to smuggling , but that revolves around some transponder fuckery that I don’t think you allowed yourself to do.
The sensor reading thing is really handy when their are way to many patrols, I should use it more often. Actually I will use it to often. The only thing I'm not allowed do is turn on the Transponder, Keyser Söze is never seen.
Also buy all the proximity charge you see , and buy a falcon P. With that you can take down the [VERY REDACTED] ship at alpha site. It would provide a lot of buff as it is a phase ship
The [VERY REDACTED] ship at alpha site is great, the problem is it's unique. "As the Ziggurat is a unique, distinctive ship, while it is in the player fleet other fleets will always recognize the player even with the transponder disabled." Kind of messes up our Keyser Söze vibe unfortunately, I want to be sneaky, stealthy and then smash and grab stuff with our marines.

Always excited to see Starsector on the channel! If you like space games like this, have you ever considered giving Endless Sky a look? It's a free, indie space game in the spirit of the old Escape Velocity games.
Escape velocity was my intro to this genre, it's how I ended up getting sucked into the X2 series. I recently looked up a video of Escape velocity, it's looks so clunky and terrible from this far in the future. But I burned way to many hours on that game back in the day. I don't think Endless Sky is quite as good as Starsector, it looks like an upgraded version of EV. No stealth, also the combat looks less deep. Though will have to investigate a bit more and see if I'm missing something.
@@FrancisJohnYT honestly, that's a pretty fair assessment. There's a fair bit more story to Endless Sky than Starsector, but the combat is in every way more clunky. Some of the builds you can make by combining stolen tech from various races are pretty fun and OP, but it's probably worse watching. Really, what we need is a better campaign mod for Starsector.

That was a hotkey thing, it's linked to number one. I normally hit 2 to go dark when I enter a system I must have hit one instead. I am pretty sure I hit go dark immediately.

There is a ship that's a phase capable hauler but you generally have to find the blueprint (hard enough by itself) and then build one at a colony, and frankly you'll hit the mil way before that would happen anyway.
I'm super glad you're doing a play through. Although I'd greatly wish you'd do a modded run with rules. Asher does that but I greatly prefer your content.
Tri-Tachyon is your friend, they only care about your money and if your transponder just happens to be "broken" it's no excuse to refuse a perfectly good trade or pull you over(sour trade relations).
yep, just grab Navigation for transverse jump and run drugs from tritach to the pirates if you really hate fun and want the million credits as fast as possible
I'm not familiar with this game but does he turn on the transponder at 49:58? I'm not sure how to tell from the ui if it's on after that jump but it seems like he clicks on the first option
you can tell weather a something is active by the lines that circle the icon. He miss clicked and activated the transponder but immediately turned back to stealth mode.
Doh, it's to do with the numbers beside each option. When you go to jump into a core system you get three choices. 1 Turn on transponder 2 Leave transponder off 3 Don't jump Then for shortcuts on the taskbar you have option 2 for going dark. So I figure there I double clicked by accident and turned on the transponder, but since I reflexively hit the number 2 on jumping into a system to cloak up it auto removed the transponder, got to be more careful.
It's only sold directly by the developer on their website, it looks like something form the 90s. They are still updating it though I don't know if they will ever move to steam.
It's all gameplay, you can't just power through a raid of pirates quick. They have low shields so you can't gun them down, they have doom and triples so you have to stay hidden/invisible. So it's lots of micro and lots of using psy powers. So even if it only takes you 30 days to set up a mountain base, you still have to fight off about 30-35 pirate raids while doing it. Not exactly exciting watching so I cut it out unless something funny/interesting happened.
I hear lots of good things about Nexerelin, but I tend to stick to vanilla with QoL in games. I just don't like straying to far from base as I fell like it alienates people who have never played the game.
I don't think it will any time soon, the team (two people) that make it seem to be happy not giving a cut to steam. This get enough income from the way they are doing it now to survive. They might change their minds at any point though so it's not set in stone.

Starsector is the type of game you can power through in under a week and still do some crazy stuff. I just put this up real quick as I was not going to be able to do the Rimworld episode. Takes forever to build anything when you are getting attacked every day.

@@HenrikEbert - It's what I usually do. In the core worlds at least some storms can be navigated around, but anywhere else, forget about trying that.
If solar shielding shows up I would grab it, but I think you have to find it exploring somewhere.

Endless sky is ok but it doesn't stand up to the EV games in my experience. Starsector is a real spiritual successor to them imo

Asher looks to use a lot of mod, that is way more that I would be willing to use. I think it would get way to many people lost.
Not supposed to to through the subspace clouds without proper upgrades. Those storms become crazy expensive with bigger fleets without sun shields.

The fighting looks so hard to figure out but this playstyle seens to circumvent the only weird part of the game.
I think the game is mostly a fight simulator but I'm more interested in being sneaky and seeing how far we can stretch that.

With 3 phase and 1 regular we are about 100 sensor profile, will need a few more if we want to dip below 100.

Francis, please, for the love of Omnissiah, use Nexerelin! It's an amazing Diplomacy mod that you won't experience in the base game.

Yup, no war crimes whatsoever (let's ignore raiding all the faction capitals for their relics and bringing them back to the stone age in the process)
You can bomb a planet to the extent that it becomes uninhabited and every faction in the cluster gets mad at you, that's some genuine warcrime stuff
