This woman (Max's owner 🙂) is awesome!!! I really have to hand it to her. She is the epitome of emotional maturity - She realized her actions (intentional or not) were reinforcing Max's behavior, and took complete responsibility for it. She was also totally open to learning new things. I love her!!
My old roommate had a Great Pyrenees mixed with Maremma sheepdog who was very physically affectionate even though we all were firm and consistent with his training and manners as soon as negative behaviors started. He was a very stubborn yet loving dog. Not a bad dog, just rebellious like a moody teenager. But he was also very loving and would comfort us if were sad

One of the most important thing to teach a big dog is to be gentle. They're often unaware of how much it can hurt when they try to be lap dogs.
