When I dj for big crowds I always transition my songs by playing a UA-cam™ commercial between each song.

    • @Jonsine

Hahah I love it. I see this in so many Restaurant they just play UA-cam music not even Spotify with commercials. Really sad.

Great beginners' video Jon! This will surely help a lot of people!
I Really like that you're putting the mixing techniques in context with crowd & listener reactions from the very beginning. I'm convinced there aren't many other videomakers online talking about "actions and reactions" in DJ'ing, and yet - it's just as important as everything else in DJ'ing! Keep up the good work as always! :D

What is the name of the song that you are playing first? And what i like to do sometimes is i cut the bass on the song that im transitioning into, then i slowly bring the volume up, then when i hear the bass from the second song, i cut the bass off the first while bringing the bass up from the second song. And i do that to kinda make it sound like the beats are fighting with each other for dominance. Sounds crazy but the crowd love it

cool jon i subcibed your channel love your videos i started this week after long time away its always nice to see people sharing their skills to others i have more experience in djing but you never know that i can learn a thing of 2 to take it with me in the next mixing session you are right to much effects in the beginning ruine the mix or the song i like to put a effect in the songs where the beat stops and build it up more and more that its almost on his top and than take the effect of just as the new beats start its all about timing a bit but its nice to do and gives a spice to your song but like you said dont over use the effect from the beginning nice and value tip you shared

Pioneer doesn't need extra lights and pads to compete. They provide plenty of options and reliability. Tried Denon display before I got my CDJ NXS2 Setup, however, Pioneer felt more natural and believable. Not like a toy.

    • @totalpartykill999

the cue button only plays the song if you hold it. hot cues are set up beforehand, and play the track from a certain spot. i think.

Its better that DJs experiment with effects by themselves. Because every transition sounds generic. Most people won’t notice but someone who has listened to many DJs will know basic effect transitions. Just using good EQing should be the first skill to master.

you can't just announce tracknames like a robot, you have to be kind and human.
it's maybe harder than djing, cause listener can be in any country at any time.

And what is real djing these days digital sync or oldschool vinyl you decide

    • @totalpartykill999

that really depends on how 'live' or performance oriented you are. although you still could get away with sound manipulation with a pre-rec mix and pass it off as performance, but its more entertaining to live mix and improv.
