A lot of people find that teaching textbooks doesn't work for the upper levels. If you still would want an online math curriculum, try Shormann math. Shormann also has science that could go along with the apologies textbook or as a stand alone science curriculum. Grace and Grit has videos in why TT didn't work and Our Blessed Life has videos on shormann math and science

Really? I have only heard of kids coming out of TT and doing great in college. The creator of TT graduated Harvard with a degree in Mathematics. I find it hard to believe if TT didnt work for the upper grades that they would stay in business. What has been your experience with TT that was not successful? Please share for all of us using the program. Math is one thing I dont want to get wrong.

Thank you!!! My daughter is starting 9th grade and I am always searching for high school videos! I'm a former Language Arts and Reading teacher and I am having the most difficult time with figuring out her curriculum. lol! She doesn't like to read but if I select books for her she will read them for school. I love the idea of putting everything together from multiple sources because I haven't found one whole curriculum that I love.

I am so grateful that I came across your video. I too have a son entering the 9th grade. I am so happy you showed those Student and Teacher workbooks for Literature. Definitely a lifesaver!

Thanks for sharing. We will soon have a high schooler and it’s helpful to see how other families tackle high school. Just subscribed. I also have a channel and would love to be friends and connect. Looking forward to more of your videos.

I would like to encourage you in the area of teaching science and try a different approach. You and your children can cook together. Try simultaneously baking brussels sprouts in a glass pan versus an aluminum sheet. Have your children write out their observations.
What physically changed about the brussels sprouts? what influenced that change? the Glass pan or aluminum sheet? heat?
Your observations will lead to investigative questions. For example, how does heat affect aluminum molecules? What are molecules? How are molecules formed? How is heat transferred?
The possiblities are endless! Review the scientific method then utilize it! Start to view science like you would arts and crafts. Science as a whole has been viewed as a difficult topic but it truly is about having fun while exploring the world around you!

I too love "Fix-It-Grammar"and "Who is God?". I do feel the same as your view on exploring religions. If your family has a strong Biblical foundation, Equip the children with the knowledge of other views because they need to know about it. I have a rising 9th grader myself and just posted something similar. I definitely learned a few things from this video. Well done!

How did your science go? That's the toughest subject for me to figure out, too...I have a 9th grader this year and up until now we've used Berean Builders. We've always enjoyed it, but 8th grade, it was just too much extra reading and time spent (we lean heavily Charlotte Mason for everything else so we already have a heavy reading load.) Plus, my kiddo told me that she doesn't enjoy doing the experiments (which was news to me! Ha!) So this year for 9th grade we're giving DIVE science a try. It's a Christian curriculum and we're doing the online, self-paced version. The thing that sold me on it is that you can watch the lab videos and do the lab reports and it will count as a lab science without having to buy the supplies and complete the labs yourself. I'm really hoping we like it! And I hope that you and your family have a great school year!

Thanks for your videos. Very informative. I’m curious as to how you will schedule all the English each week. For example will he do critical thinking, paragraph editing, fix it grammar and the reading all in one day? Looking for suggestions and ideas for scheduling .

Foreign language! We are going to use Masterbooks Greek. That way it helps to understand the Bible better as well. Win win :)

We've used Apologia and you're correct, some folks love it and others don't. We found that we started it too young so we put it aside for later years and it worked. (middle school). I'd even use it for my 9th grader.

So given it’s a year later how did yall like Apologia Biology? And could I please get specific name or link to those book study workbooks you displayed for Animal Farm and To Kill a Mockingbird please? My son is avid reader but would like to challenge/test comprehension and engage with him when I’m not reading book alongside him. Thanks for your video! High school curriculum is sparsely covered.
