So nice to find a secular homeschooler homeschooling high school! My son is in 7th grade but so close and doing all my research. We actually started doing BYL 0 and 2 with my younger two and we love it, my oldest joins in on all the fun as well! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you, and how BYL is working out during the school year! Happy homeschooling.

woah, what a cool stack of books! I took AP psych in high school (only just two years ago ha ha ) and the textbook we used as amazing and totally useable for self study- David G Myers Pyschology in modules- broke it down super easy and we basically learned the book and it wasn't boring at all! sorry if the recommendation was completely unwanted! Best of luck to your daughters!! -A Uni student who has no idea how or why they were recomended this video

I have a rising 6th grader and he says he wants to homeschool through high school. I'm nervous that I will mess it up! I'd be interested in any videos on homeschooling high school!

You've Got This! I understand how you feel though hence why my son and I started our channel. Hopefully we can walk alongside Raising Wildflowers and learn from her and other UA-camrs.

We homeschool too and use BYL. I have been a little nervous about 9th grade and have considered doing Connections Academy because Im afraid I'll mess up.

What do you use for composition? Just the prompts from BYL or do you use a curriculum?

This year we will only be using BYL. Next year we will add an additional writing curriculum to help prepare for college essays. My older daughter used Writing with Skill and she was very happy with the curriculum. But I don't think that program will be a good fit for my current 9th grader - she needs a little more creativity and less structured writing. I am thinking we may try Brave Writer's High School Writers and College Prep Writers with her.

Will any of your girls take college credits in high school/dual enrollment?

I am planning on talking about DE in a future video! We are actually thinking about not officially graduating my oldest after this year, and instead next year have her only doing DE classes at our local community college for her final "official" homeschool year. DE here is completely free so it seems like a good idea lol.

I just saw your video on "Unschooling" and was all excited to find your channel ....only to find you're now following a strict curriculum/regimen :( I'm confused. Also disappointed.

My teens help choose all of their curriculum and have the option to not do any of it. They set their own schedule and go at their own flow. They have asked to do all these things, so that is still unschooling in my book 😊 Unschooling is allowing your child to have control of their education, which can definitely include curriculum, especially as they get older - sometimes that even looks like going back to public school.

@@raisingwildflowers Thank you for your response. What if you have kids who don't really want to do any "book work"....I also have 2 girls, ages 10 and 14. They are very self motivated to do creative things like art and crafts...they also read books they choose to read only for entertainment, not learning. I have tried to get them workbooks and they liked that idea for about 2 days...so that was a waste of money. They love dance, gymnastics and contortion which they are mostly self taught along with some formal classes. We also follow a healthy vegan diet, and I am an RN so have taught them a lot about health/nutrition and basics in cooking/baking. I love the unschooling idea, but sometimes feel guilty they are not learning enough of what they "should" learn for this annoying society we live in. Any suggestions for getting them motivated to actually "learn" more on their own?
