I'm so down bad cause I've been mostly lonely for my whole life, not even close friends and that's partly my fault. This came at a good time

When I finally accepted my loneliness and sat with it - I allowed it to evolve and become something really amazing as I found more balance.

I think I was about 12, we always had NEGO magazine in the house. I saw the photos of Jane with the apes, read the article and she became a hero of mine. Although I never became the NGEO photographer I wanted to be, I am 61 now and have started working as a homeless shelter monitor. I have hope at almost 10 years in recovery. I have hope this shift in how I collect a paycheck serves purpose in serving humanity! I have hope as was said here with something to live for in the final half of my life! Service that may lead others to hope for a better life for themselves, and in the process keep me hopeful for a better world in my own way! Thank again Rich for a great interview!!🌱

Everyone needs hope and inspiration. If the message is true, it can come from anyone

    • @Bert86
      @Bert86 2 роки тому +1

@@happiestonion yeah, this is kind of bullshit. Jane Goodall, was born into money and married into more. She was a freaking baroness. The only reason she could walk into the jungle and play with monkeys was because she didn't have to work!
Try telling someone living below the poverty line that they too can play with the monkeys in the jungle if they only "hope" enough.

Doing the consumer things are good but I think it's the complete switch in our thinking to really trust, know, and understand that we are all one with each other and with the Earth. Once we really really know that, then our actions on every level will change! We will then do our lives differently. Every choice we make will be considered in light of this connected awareness. I've known Jane all my life and she has been my inspiration! Im so glad you had this conversation. I will share it on my social. Thanks Rich.

glad to have these books coming out now. since this was filmed we lost Desmond Tutu. the most beautiful of humans. As our elders leave us, we need to know them and what they know now, and for what is to come.

Dr Jane did the foreword for my book, Saving Wild, Inspiration from 50 Conservationists. We need inspiration and hope and love to face the new future we are creating. I love love you, your podcast and the direction you are taking these conversations lately. THank you for YOU and the threads you follow.

I'd love Doug's next book to be with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. They have been my #1 heroes for all of my adult life, and I have read several of Jimmy's books. I'd love to see what Doug can extract from both of them, in a way I've not heard yet.

Dear Rich, thank you for another amazing podcast. I am a big fan of yours. To the question about what Douglas next book should be about, I would suggest "the book of purpose". I believe it is worth unpacking the multi facets of purpose and move away from the headlines portraying purpose as success of big achievements. All the best!

It is unbelievable how every week you bring wonderful guests in your podcast!!!! I loved everything about this conversation. There are 2 people that I would suggest to Doug to look into. The first one is not with us anymore, but his life and his work was incredible. His name is Francisco Candido Xavier (Chico Xavier). The second still alive in his 90's, his name is Divaldo Pereira Franco. Both of them brings to us this topic about after life that you guys talked about.
Keep bringing those wise, kind and incredible human beings to the podcast!
    Much love to you Rich!🌹❤

Animals are incredible! Being vegan offers hope. Thanks for inspiring us to honour the teachings and the wisdom of our elders, especially women. Jane has always been amazing. Interesting that BKS Iyengar was also a frail child, another person who changed the world for all of us.

I was just discussing this the other day, the difference between Hope & Faith. Rabbi Finley just wrote about hope being a distraction from the self, from being present. However, I feel like it can also be semantics, in the way we ascribe Hope to our lives.

Amazing show, as it's so often the case with your work. Responding to your question about Doug's next book...my vote goes for David Attenborough. If they could make a person a World Heritage Site, my vote would go to Sir David. Love your work my friend.

if you want to think locally, act locally: organize. find folks to work with. look at what needs doing where you are and start doing it. this could be contacting legislators about specific things, planting food in urban food deserts, educating and agitating, and simpler acts like not buying new items, repairing old items, recycling, reusing, repurposing, and a whole spectrum from small acts to world shaking acts.

This episode was good. And yes, you guest is very charming. It seems that you are disengaged in what is happening in your city. You avoid addressing it, yet you travelled to Minneapolis to hang out with your buddies and I'm sure you felt like you were of service. You have a platform and you have a huge fam base. Why can't you address reality? Your talk on hope doesn't do much when a daughter was murdered in your home town.

All the talk about climate change that governments want to do, don’t seem to focus on the big stuff. They make cars and oil and gas to be the bad guys but seem to IGNORE animal agriculture. Ive seen plenty of plant-based documentaries that say clearly: Animal Agriculture is tons more damaging to the planet and world ecosystem than all the cars in the world.
Of course, the meat, dairy and seafood lobbies have billions of dollars to pay off politicians who are more than happy to take a bribe (donation).
It seems like they beat the little guy up for driving too much but don’t touch the industries that are doing the most harm.

Rich: Why not address the role of color. Goethe's observations might have something to contribute.
Your dark clothing doesn't communicate hope. It doesn't communicate cheer.
    Light colors do.
