    Nice G bro! I want that plenum upgrade. I already did the short tube intake tubes on the stock boxes and the pcv delete and the z1 coils with denso irridium plugs. Also I got the mishimoto thermostat. it runs like a beast. That hood you got looks mint too!

    I have a bit over a yr with 14 nismo 370. Z1 cat back and the long tube Cai. It's fun but it's not that fast but man is the fun to Rev out and canyon drive. That's home for these cars. Next step z1 oil pan, fast intentions oil cooler, z1 headers, and high flow cats. More than likely with tune just shy of the 400 crank. I do plan to supercharger it but that's after a few years. It is hard to find new cars that are as cheap for like g37 or a sport package 370 that are as reliable, fun, fair entry price and a quite large after market to make it your own

    I have a 370Z sport 6MT and had a Fast Intentions 2.5" dual X-pipe CBE with a Stillen Gen 3 long tube CAI installed at Fast Intentions in Simi Valley, CA. The next day I went to see Sebastian Chakoff at Specialty Z in Simi Valley. He did a baseline dyno run on the Ecutek software and we got about 301 peak rwhp @7200 rpm, with the A/F ratios running extremely lean at low to mid range revs and slightly lean at high revs. After about 7 runs he got the A/F ratios and the ignition timing dialed in across the whole rev range and we wound up with 321 peak rwhp @7200 rpm. Torque was nearly flat across the rev range and was about 15% over stock.
    I'm estimating that the car is probably putting out close to 380 peak hp at the crank, about 50 hp over stock. The car sounds much better and pulls significantly stronger than stock. The gas mileage has decreased slightly, but only in city driving. Highway mileage at constant speed is as good as stock or a little better.
    I think it was a worthwhile upgrade to the car that makes it more fun to drive. I like the fact that I'm NA and probably will not have reliability issues with the engine. Down the road someday I may get a stroker kit and have the engine performance rebuilt to a 4.3 liter displacement with a 12:1 static compression ratio.

    • @videomaniac108
      @videomaniac108 Рік тому +1

      @@HaHa-gy5vg Even if you retain the stock cats you'll still gain a respectable power increase by freeing up the intake and cat back section of your exhaust and getting it tuned. I've seen about a 6 to 8 hp increase when the cats are also removed. I think the biggest restriction in the exhaust is the stock muffler.

    • @HaHa-gy5vg
      @HaHa-gy5vg Рік тому

      @Jim Nesta ok ty. I saw one video that said an axle back exhaust gives you as much power as a cat back on a 370. Thoughts?
      So I guess intake exhaust and tune and i'm still carb legal and gain some power.

    • @videomaniac108
      @videomaniac108 Рік тому

      @@HaHa-gy5vg Getting rid of the restrictive stock muffler might be the single biggest and cheapest thing you can do in the exhaust upgrade, a greater bang for the buck than a whole system replacement. One of the reasons that I went with the F.I. system was that its overall design was made to facilitate improved gas flow and increased midrange scavenging; through full 2.5" pipes all the way back, a siamesed X-pipe design, minimal bends in the pipes and hollow-core resonators instead of baffles for sound attenuation. With just the exhaust and tune I might have gotten about half the increase in power, about 20 hp. If I had just replaced the muffler with an axle back I might have seen something on the order of about 10 hp.
      The same design philosophy was applied in the Stillen long tube intake, minimal gentle bends to improve intake flow - hence my choice there.
      Because Nissan's engineers have extracted so much power from a moderate displacement engine, there isn't a lot you can do, aside from forced induction, to get significant power gains from the engine. Forced induction for a race car is great but for a reliable and tractable street car it is problematic for me. A good LS engine swap might be a better choice.

    I know this video is a year old or more however I just came across it and wanted to say that I currently drive a lightly modified G37 S coupe with a manual transmission. I am only pushing 400 horses however I will say I have raced with some very high end cars. Some I've beaten, others I've only managed to keep up with. All have complimented me on how fast my car is. These G37's (skyline 370 GT S) are cars that constantly get underestimated. Happy racing my friends.

    We are all missing our Infiniti logo from the engine cover 😅. I run mine without it since I have other mods and it just looks cleaner on mine without it.
    For intake there's a really cool thing about that... I haven't seen test data on it but logically it seems sound.. but if people were to replace their grille with a mesh one I would think it allows for much more air flow into the filters. I personally use a mesh grille and it looks nice because you can see the filters really well (like yours). Also, Z1 and Stillen are NOT the only long tube intakes out there. There are SEVERAL other options and Z1 came out with theirs way after most of them. The "sport versions" you refer to on the intakes are called velocity stacks and anyone can buy filters with stacks or stacks and filters. It's not a Z1-specific thing.
    If you I can make a list of fabricators or others who make parts for the G and send it to you.
    For exhaust "the wider the exhaust the more power" is just not correct. There's way more that goes into exhaust like the bends and velocity. Wider diameter means lower velocity. Conventionally, people tend to reccommend 2.5" for NA and 3" for FI. There is a common thing that's been floating around (which seems logical) stating that the optimal exhaust setup involves something like 2.5" closer to the engine and then 3" or more for the Y-back. This is because it keeps velocity high where it matters (as there's not enough air being pumped through the engine to push out the exhaust with force if the entire exhaust setup was 3"+), and then allowing for a lot of scavenging by widening the pipe to 3"+ later in the run. Straight runs are better, because they interrupt velocity less. Also the "backpressure is good" thing is a myth.
    I'm curious why you didn't mention test pipes, long tube headers or high flow cats?
    Most people don't do the cams because it's extremely labor intensive so you either have to be able to and willing to do it yourself or pay a shop a fortune to do it for you. I've reseached this and it seems to be about 24 hours of labor, which is about $2400 + tax. Goes well with what you were saying about how expensive it is to mod this car for anything outside of FI.
    IMO Admin is not very reputable. He's very dishonest and he barely does any logging. Communication is poor, too.
    SOHO has issues with fitment when it comes to their exhaust. This happened on my car and at least 2 other people's cars from the forum. SOHO doesn't stand by their products and have quality control issues (as proven by the fitment problems). My exhaust rattles against the sway bar because they designed it in a way that doesn't fit properly. I've run several exhaust setups on this car and this never happened prior.
    The AWD G isn't AWD in the way you implied. It's RWD until slip is detected, and then it transfers up to 50% of the power to the front wheels. It is the ATTESA-ETS system from an R32/R33 skyline GT-R.

    • @yayasgarage
      @yayasgarage  Рік тому +4

      Wow thank you for the detailed explanation on all the points that I missed and might have gotten wrong. After editing the video, I did realize I forgot to mention test pipes/hi flow cats. That's my fault for assuming people would add that as part of the exhaust. Speaking of the exhaust, thanks for clarifying the point of the size of the exhaust. From my research, it was my understanding the wider the exhaust, more potential for power which isn't necessarily true. I've pinned your comment to the top so others can see.
      So I've heard good and bad things about Admin Tuning. A lot of people say good things about him while I've also heard horror stories. I've always wondered whether it was due to bad tuning or people abusing their cars (yk extreme revving, redlining etc).
      Really appreciate the in depth comment. Hope others can read and take some information from here as well like I did. Also, it is such an Infiniti thing, not to have the logo on the engine bay lol. I'm hoping to fix that in the future with a new CF engine cover hopefully.

    • @sneakwastaken
      @sneakwastaken Рік тому +3

      @@yayasgarage Thanks. I'm not a pro with extensive car history, but I do a ton of research and care a lot about what parts go on my G. I also heard good and bad things about Admin and the way I interpeted it at first was "people are hating on him because he's popular.. he gives them an attitude when they're stupid". Not in a fanboy way but just as someone who has been really good at what I do in other fields I know that you get a lot of hate. I think there are some cases where people are just abusing their cars because the people who tend to gravitate towards him are those types of people who do that stuff.
      In my case I had the tune with him and this is where the poor communication took place. Typos from pre-made messages. Things that were out-of-date. A person with average experience in technology would be confused or do something wrong. In my case I have extensive experience with technology so it was simple to figure out. He only looked at the initial data log and 1 more (maybe 2 more, I can't remember).. so total maps flashed was the initial map and then 1-2 more. Since then, I've tried 2 other tuners -- one was a relatively new guy and one was a well-known tuner who's been around longer than Moncef. Both of them did way more to communicate what is going on with the car, inform me of things like an update that isn't applied on my ECU which came out years before getting a tune from Moncef, etc.. They were receptive and willing to answer questions. With Moncef it feels like you're a bother to him to send a message and like it's being scrutinized hardcore. It's like talking to an immature female.
      To make matters worse, after using that relatively new tuner he ended up getting sick and the tune wasn't finished. I had new mods and wanted something fast to make the most out of the mods and get the MPG back up to at least a decent level so I asked Moncef for a retune and he tried to extort me for double the cost of the tune. I told him that he says retunes are $X and he said that they are double because I was tuned by someone else AFTER him. This makes no sense, because he doesn't have to do any extra work and as seen in his video he keeps all of the data logs. I also still have the ROMs to flash (and I had already flashed his last ROM onto the vehicle in preparation). There is no extra work required -- he just wanted to extort me.. so I obviously wasn't going to do that.. Then he posted on his IG story claiming that I wanted "half off". Dishonest prick.
      I was also hoping to fix the engine cover thing but later I just took the cover off. I found out it's pretty tough to find that badge online. I bet a good place to look would be a junkyard.
      Good luck with your build and channel. I found and followed you on IG.

    This is a good video, but there are a few things you could still do with the VQ37, including like you said, getting a supercharger kit. The big weak point on our VQ cars powertrain is the transmission. It's possible and very easy to swap in a VR30 transmission to handle the power (look this up online, it was my first "mod" as well), then you're pretty much good to go between 400-600 wheel, even with an auto. I think spending like $9k on a Top Gun kit + tuner + VR trans for a strong motor like the VQ is a way better alternative to buying a whole new car just to go fast.
