I emphasis PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE and FACTS. This is my view as an expat and black woman from the states living abroad with her family while also providing the most current data about Honduras, San Pedro Sula, and the top 50 most dangerous cities in the world. INFORMATION ABOUT MY SPOOF VIDEO
    • Is Honduras really tha...
    If you made it through the video then you absolutely know this is a SARCASTIC view on click bait and the fear mongering happening in Honduras (especially San Pedro Sula)! Honduras does have REAL challenges! However, they should not overshadow all the beautiful things about the country and it's people. For irony, I used a picture taken in California as my thumbnail.
    My family and I decided to move to San Pedro Sula while living in the United States and UA-cam was swarming with videos about how dangerous the country is. At the time the only UA-camr shedding light on both the challenges and beauty of the country was ‪@shinfujiyamaReal‬ who I mention in this video. However, outside of Shin Fujiyama UA-cam was filled with videos of visitors walking through "the murder capital" of the world. Again, Honduras does have challenges with poverty, crime, and danger just like any other country in the world. Yet, the homicide rate in San Pedro Sula 2023 has dropped significantly in the past decade with cities like Memphis, New Orleans, Baltimore, Cleveland, and even Milwaukee surpassing San Pedro Sula.

    I was born in San Pedro but moved to USA when I was 17 yrs old. I went back when I was 21 and 30 for Christmas time.
    After that i didn't go back for 17 yrs old... I went 1 month ago and let me tell you... I had the best vacation ever. I didn't know how beautiful my country was, the humbleness of our people, the gastronomy, how far the dollar goes, the beautiful women LORD!!!
    I live in New Orleans.. I can honestly say that when I visit some areas in NOLA I feel like my life is in danger... I didn't feel that in san pedro.
    I loved it so much that I'm going back next month.

      That is wonderful to hear! And I am glad you had a chance to reconnect with your roots 💙 You truly have a beautiful culture and I’m sure you will have the chance to fall in love with your hometown all over again. I went to NOLA a few years ago and feel your same sentiments. Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe 🇭🇳

    Thank you for sharing this with us…. I grew up between 13th and 14th avenue 12th street Barrio Cabañas near Escuela Luis Landa and the neighborhood was beautiful and a little intimidating at the same time but it was home….you know.
    I’m trying to get the Kids to go back and show them how beautiful San Pedro Sula is.

    I was in Honduras 2 weeks ago.
    I’m originally from Triunfo de la Cruz, but my wife is from Sambo Creek, matter fact I showed her your video in Sambo and you met some of her family!!
    I had a great time there, I absolutely loved spending time there, I had never felt as safe as I felt walking in the streets of both La Ceiba and San Pedro Sula!
    My wife and I are seriously considering moving to her hometown.
    We do still have our minds there 😂😂😊

      That is amazing and thanks for sharing! Every time I think of Sambo Creek my heart warms. It truly is such a special place and we only spent such a short time there. The people and the culture is so beautiful 💙💙 You are both lucky to have such a rich loving culture.

    Thanks for your video and perspective. I have been wanting to visit Honduras for some time and your videos are very motivating.
    It's unfortunate that so many vloggers resort to scare tactics and distort reality, but based on my own click history (which shows that I too have succumbed to the bait), I find I now avoid videos with sensationalist/fear-mongering headlines. In other words, scaring people only works up to a point. Thanks again for your fresh and honest approach, and look forward to seeing more of your videos. It would be interesting to hear some of your kids' perspectives on moving abroad.

      All of this! When I first came I just watched vloggers with the most views and most of them were “scary click bait.” Moving forward I refuse to fall for it!

      It’s really sad how people run with an extreme narrative about truly beautiful places. Thanks for watching!

    Great content, especially given the honest facts, I'm not saying San Pedro Sula is 100 safe, just like anywhere in the world, it's some hoods and streets are dangerous especially if you are not a resident.

    Great video! Question: Could you speak Spanish before moving there? If not, how difficult was it to learn?

    • @MinervesOnTheMove
      @MinervesOnTheMove  Рік тому +2

      I actually spoke a good amount of Spanish before I came. Ian didn’t though. (Outside of a class in HS 20 years ago lol). He picked up very quickly here. He and I both agreed Honduras has the clearest Spanish ever. It is a great place to learn because it’s so easy to understand.

    Can foreigners purchase properties outright? How's the internet speed there for expats? How's the healthcare system there?

    • @MinervesOnTheMove
      @MinervesOnTheMove  Рік тому +2

      I have never purchased a property here but I want to say yes only because I know several foreigners who have and they list properties for sale frequently in the expat group. High speed internet is available which has made my youtube channel possible. I’m in SPS so not sure what it looks like in the campos. I would recommend going to private hospitals. It’s very inexpensive my daughter who has epilepsy never had any issues getting her medication or seeing her neurologist. Hope this helps!

    Great information! I also believe that without living in a local community, all people say is just stereotypes. I have a plan to move there in 3-4 months for work purpose. It'd be really helpful to get in touch with you to know more.
    For starters, Do women drive motorcycles/Scooty in San Pedro Sula?
