This is How Our Family Packs After Moving to 3 Countries l How and What To Pack for Living Abroad
In this video we talk about the 10 things we've learned since moving abroad with children to 3 different countries. We will cover how to plan beforehand, what to pack, and tips that we missed in our last video about moving abroad with children. We will also share what we are doing real time in a vlog like style because we are in the middle of moving to Ethiopia!
These tips will apply if you are a family with children BUT will also help for single people. So if you are seriously considering moving abroad or are just getting your feet wet stick around for the entire video because we're going to give you the real..in this reel (bad dad joke) 😂
We are an Black American couple who left their teaching jobs back in the states for a life overseas to pursue being international school teachers (so not just teaching english). At the time of this video we are currently in the United States transitioning to Africa for the first time!

    • @MinervesOnTheMove

      We brought all those bags in the plane. I believe we had 1 carry on and 1 check in free. We had a moving allowance so instead of shipping just brought the rest of the plane and used the money for weight/extra bags.

      They are our check ins for the plane. Instead of bringing just suitcases, it’s a mixture of suitcases and totes. We will use them as storage bins when we get there since they last long and are expensive/hard to come by. Should have clarified sorry!

    You mean they are not African American. They are black but not African American. The AA culture is unique to the US others may adopt some things but AA culture is grown in the US. Africans in Africa have different cultures than AAs but that doesn't make them not black

    • @MinervesOnTheMove
      @MinervesOnTheMove 5 днів тому

      Nope, not quite. I have a few friends who also are African American but still not the group of “black people” I’m referring too. For example, let’s say you are born in Ethiopia, move here, become a citizen. That person could and might still identify as AA. I’m talking about people exclusively identify as black. But that being said I’m not here to police anyone’s identity. You are what you are 🤷🏽‍♀️ I just 1 million percent understand without judgement why some haitians and dominicans choose not to identify as “black.” It makes sense to me now.

    I can identify with everything! I moved from Portugal to France and realized that I was spoiled in the U.S.A. I miss steamy hot showers, non-Ikea furniture, and real air conditioning. I was living the glamorous life in the U.S.A. with modern conveniences. I don't miss the crime, and stress, resulting in health issues as I would contemplate jobs that were possibly killing me! Life is about compromise, but I really miss the freezing cold air conditioning and steamy hot showers!

    I’m from Oakland California, I traveled to Honduras in May 2024. I felt safer in Honduras than I do in Oakland. If you know Oakland, you can’t walk around at night for sure and even during the daytime you may get robbed. I landed in San Pedro Sula, I was with my girlfriend who is Hondurena, originally from El Progresso. Before I flew out, of course I looked at a bunch of UA-cam videos and a lot of them were on that hype of danger. I actually had a wonderful time in the city, there’s a lot to do a lot to see, the sketchy part was driving a little bit over an hour to El Progresso. I wasn’t sure of the law enforcement there because they kept looking through the windshield as we drive-by. I was waiting for someone to pull the cell phone up to their ear, which will give me the indication that they call down the road and say stop that vehicle. I had no issues with that thankfully. Another sketchy time was GPS taking us from El Progresso back to San Pedro Sula on a different route. Even my girlfriend was a little fearful because the area that we were traveling through she knew it wasn’t the place to be especially for tourist, but all in all, I love the trip and I plan on going back. I met a few Americans there who own property in Honduras, they visit a few times a month from Texas. I need to study Spanish for sure, but I heard Roatan where there’s a lot of Expats They mainly speak English on that island. Oh, and the food, the food is organic, just as long as you go to a good restaurant you can taste the difference. They do have a lot of American fast food places there, stay away, you see what Americans have to deal with in regards to food being processed.

      Yea and what a big surprise falling in line as a black. Oh no it's not nothing to gain being white in today's American.

    So this cracks me up because I grew up in Southern California where someone cannot make it through a complete sentence without telling you what that person's racial identity is and I started to say to people why did you need to tell me that your Gardener was Mexican what difference does it make? It's interesting when you see who's really racist and who is not it's kind of surprising sometimes.😂

      Of course she isn't well except if we have some tax monies to fork over. No wait not even then it is demanded of we people of white. Keep working paying taxes and keep our mouth shut and then we are the good ones.
