What all tools do i need to buy down to specific sizes ive done spark plugs before but on a 4 cylinder im broke and my engine misfiring and idling super rough i know for sure its the spark plugs
@@matt-diy thank you for the fast reply ok im starting from scratch my bad i dont wanna bombard you with questions but i dont know tools well i just know how to do what i see in the video 😂 give me a list what to go to autozone and ask for ratchet and socket and ?
Mine had a star bit and the oil cap don't drop the oil cap like I did it don't fall to the ground lands on the bottom plastic shield got to take that down before I start the car now just watched the video to make sure I didn't haft to take the intake off yes u can't see the back coils even with cover off this is why I watched the video NEVER MIND I HAD TO TAKE THE INTAKE OFF TO GET 2 OF THE BACK COILS OUT 2015 3.6 Impala
@@matt-diy This does method does not work for a 2015 when change the back three spark plugs. You can't remove the coil since it hits the air plenum. The air plenum must be removed to change the back three spark plugs on my 2015 3.6L.
A little late but in order to get the ones from under the intake manifold, you need to rotate the coils counterclockwise 90 degrees and then you can pull them out. Just did the procedure today so it's fresh on my mind! :) The reason you can't just pull them out, it's because the lip of the manifold stops the bulky part of the coil from clearing it, but rotating the coil first reduces the amount of clearance needed to take it out.
Random, do you know where the hell the block heater plug is at? I’m trying to find it online and I can’t, I’m not sure if it’s tucked in the wire loom somewhere or what
I've got a p300 random misfire code on my 2015 Impala (new body) V6 that I literally just bought. Got right at 100k miles. Fantastic oil change history on the Carfax but I don't see anything about spark plugs changed. It stumbles occasionally. Think spark plugs could be the issue?
What if you would disconnect the metal link that attaches the engine to the radiator bulk head and use a small ratchet strap to pull the engine towards the radiator, that way rear access would be better?
I'm getting a P216B code and it states a misfire to Injector 5. I'm low on funds and want to do the repair myself. Would you be able to identify which is #5? I have a feeling it is on the backside. Thank-you awesome video

Here are the plugs I used, exact OE replacements!

Thx!
Thanks for info about the rear plugs. Will be sure to get a universal.
No problem 👍

You really only need spark plug sockets for this job I believe it was 5/8” size.

@@StreetStoriesEnt socket wrench, sockets, and a spark plug gapper if your plugs that you buy are not pre gapped.
OEM parts for GM are generally AC Delco 👍🏽
Should you disconnect the battery for doing this?
Don’t need to.
How do you get the plastic cover off? Mine seems attached somehow and I don't want to break it.
Take off the engine oil fill cap first.
I believe it just pulls straight up but I can’t remember.
Yes remove oil cap then it just pulls straight up, you won’t break it

How much torque do you need ?
Not sure, but you don’t need it very tight just snug is fine. Just tight enough that you can loosen with one hand.
Hey, How did you get the coils out from underneath the intake manifold?
If I remember just like in the video I just reached behind and was able to get to them.

@@denniswommack4031 Is that the new style Impala or the Limited edition? Just curious. 🙂
@@TommyViper limited Im doing mine right now
How'd you get the back ones out?
Same as the front but have to feel for them you can’t see them.
@@matt-diy Thanks for the response!!!

I honestly was not aware the impala had a block heater so I don’t know.
@@matt-diy I’ve read that it’s wrapped up in a loom somewhere. But mixed reviews on its location. Currently trying to locate it (currently -32° F)

Very possible it can’t hurt to change them!! Seems that code is related to ignition in some way. Plugs should only be used 50-70k miles at the most.
I got the same problem rn I hit 100k and my car started to slip and misfire here n there
@@jaygrippin448did you ever find issue
How long did you take to do this roughly?
Probably 15-20 minutes.
I'm guessing getting to the rear 3 plugs on this engine is a lot easier than the 3.5/3.9 engines?
Couldn’t say for sure I haven’t worked on those ones.
What if you would disconnect the metal link that attaches the engine to the radiator bulk head and use a small ratchet strap to pull the engine towards the radiator, that way rear access would be better?
It’s possible maybe! Not sure how much the engine would move.
Engine mounts might be an issue
I do enough Toyota Aurion V6 and Kluger/Highlanders at work. I hate front drive V6s
What size spark plug socket did you use?
Sorry I can’t remember but I think 5/8”

Unfortunately I am not sure but I’m sure there is a diagram online!
Thank You
Just about to do my mothers 2012 an they use AC Delco from new.
Good luck!
my spark plugs are getting their first change and theyre champions too so im gonna say most likely gm does use them
Oh okay interesting they must have!
I contract for union auto parts in Memphis and all the GMs here use AC Delco

Saw another and that video says you can do it if the bolts are removed all then way???
No GM does not use champion in their vehicles they use their own brand AC Delco champion belongs in a lawn mower
😭
Ac Delco. 043 3:18
were is the speed sensor on the engine out put sensor
To be honest I am not sure.
Are you talking about the wheels speed sensors?
How do you like the Bosch iridiums? Any improvements?
I don’t have this car anymore but have used Bosch in the past too and really like them. I think Bosch makes a very quality product.
ac delco im thinking
do you recommend removing the intake manifold to get to the rear plugs?
If you feel around you don’t need to.
No way , the intake manifold blocks the top left , you can't get the plug out without removing manifold.
Thanks bud
No problem 👍
When should you change the coils?
If you want to be extra safe you could change them every 80-100k but most will last beyond that. I’d wait until it needs one.
At least you don't have to remove the stupid water pump like on the Caprices
They use ac Delco
ACDelco OEM
Ac Delco is oem
Why didn't you show how to take out the 3 in the back????
Too hard to get the camera back there.
It is a pain getting those three out.
I would never put champion spark plugs
No champions are not used the best ones I know is ACDelco
I didn’t use champions.
No, just no to so many things you said
curious what I said that was so wrong lol
Champion is just plain crap
What size and type socket did you use?
Sorry I can’t remember, maybe 5/8”.
a little late but i use a spark plug socket for mine
