Nice club review Derek, it's probably the most comprehensive I have ever seen on PXG Gen 2 Irons. As a senior hacker who struggles for club head speed these days, I am probably an ideal candidate to use these Irons. However I do have two issues with the clubs, first I can't say that I'm a fan of all those screws at the back (to my eye it looks odd). Secondly is the cost, although I could afford them I would really struggle to justify spending that amount of money on a set of Irons. Also my wife would probably divorce me, which really would be COSTLY!!!!! LOL
Is it worth upgrading to the gen3 0311P vs the gen2 0311P? I recently just got fitted but not at a PXG dealer. I love their 7 fairway wood so I'm thinking of getting a set of irons as well...
What was the loft comparison of the forged head and the PXG?? The launch angles with the forged head was around 20 degrees and the PXG was between 17-18 degrees
Do you notice a significant difference with TM P790? As far as the second category "who is it not for", where do you set the "limit" (if there is one)? Say, if I hit my 7 iron 170-175 yds, can I get fitted with one of those models and still have a good gaping in the shorter irons and wedges? 5 mpg gain is about 10 yds. So that would mean, 180-185 for a 7 iron. So PW around 145 yds? Need then to find the correct setup for wedges.... Thanks !
Hey Cedric, limits set by the types of golfers we see so purely observational and based around the results we see over a number of weeks/months of fittings which is why we need time with product. Best to use the GW from the same set so the design holds true then work out required lofts of extra wedges based on style of swing and preferred distances, use stronger lofts than usual will help. Yes 145+ on PW based on the data. Thanks for watching.
Similar blended materials but different flight and feel. Watch our video on both? Probably case for each so would be more up to you once you’ve hit both you would know...
They are having a fantastic sale on the Gen 2's at $159 a club. I just ordered 4-G. I didn't do a sit down fitting as I had done that with my previous set and I spent quite a bit of time with their master club fitter on the phone before I ordered. Should have them in about two weeks. Can hardly wait!
@@foregolfcustom Yes, it's a bit different but PXG does it all the time now as we only have one fitting partner in N. Texas and they are really backed up due to the COVID-19. I'm a 1.5 HDCP so I know my swing pretty well and it hasn't changed all that much since my last fitting. I can always get some tweaking done locally for a fee if I need to. But I do understand your point and it's a little bit of shot in the dark.
We wanted the demonstrate the ball speed and smash factor. Club head speed is less important for testing face speed. We wanted to show they went faster off the face so ball speed and speed retention was what we wanted to show. We can ping you the club head speeds if you want? Send an email to hello@foregolf.ie 👍🏻
Where did you quote smash factor? I didn’t see it. I’m not doubting these clubs have an impact on ball speed but you haven’t demonstrated this in this video. Unless you are giving us clubhead speed and ball speed or ball speed and smash factor you haven’t provided evidence that the clubs are the #only cause of your increased ball speed.
Great in-depth review thanks. I’ve only got one 54 degree wedge and love it, it’s a savior very often.
Thanks we like the 50/54/58 combo a lot given the stronger lofts on PW’s these days. 👍🏻

Don’t fall out with the missus but give them a hit before you make that final decision. We quite like the screws tbh. 🤷🏻♂️
Great video guys. Love the breakdowns, keep up the great work.

Good Q. The loft on the Forged head was 1* weaker than the PXG head. Shaft was the same and length and swingweight same.
Great review Derek, must try them out sometime.

Thanks. Current irons are MP62, pretty old. Looking for a little more forgiveness with more recent technology. Your experience on PXG vs. P790?

I have a set of 0311XF irons 5-sand iron to me best thing since sliced bread ,no chance of me changing them,

Fitting over the phone...that’s a new one🤔🤔

No club head speed data?
How do we know how much of that ball speed is due to the club and not variations in strike and club head speed?
