Honestly, I would think she was making the whole thing up as well because it's just so over the top and convenient, especially since the police had already confronted him about the Satanism angle.
It was an idiotic plan and response to his response. I was saying to myself, "He must either think she's lying or he's trying to protect himself." There can be so many reasons you wouldn't react to that. His continuing to stay with her after that can be accounted by the desperation thing, which gels with his mental illness theory. Lots of people are lonely enough to not mind a chronic liar.
Tbh him arriving early to the “date” isn’t strange.. I’m someone who has a high functioning anxiety and i ALWAYS arrived super early to any meeting, outing class whatever I think he was just nervous and couldn’t want to meet this lady he liked
I am the type of person that arrives early for any schedule. Sometimes I am just anxious enough to do so. Other times it is because I think it is polite
I was thinking the same thing. I arrive ridiculously early when nervous or unfamiliar with my intended destination. I've even visited an office the day before an interview just to manage my anxiety....
I was thinking the same thing. I always leave for work an hour or two early because my mind goes a mile a minute on wether I will need gas or I will get lost, road closures so much stuff that couldn’t happen but could.
When I was dating I would literally show up at the exact time we planned. Then stress in my car for 3-4 minutes because I didn’t wanna seem neurotic for being exactly on time 😂
same im always so anxious about being late that i end up being super early lol especially since i use public transport, you never know when a bus or tram is gonna be late so better to be too early than late
If someone told me that they’re a murderer, I’d try to NOT react in a way that would make me their next victim. If you made a scene about it, they would want to get rid of you so you don’t go and call police.
UGH. knowing that colin was innocnet makes the whole operations so much worse.... IMAGINE thinking you were actually talkigng to someone who was interested in u :((((
I actually started crying when she said he was innocent this whole time, he was SO lonely all he wanted was someone no matter if they were crazy or mentally ill he just wanted someone and they put him through HELL and he was innocent, I’m so happy he finally found someone to love and even has loving step-kids now, his past was bad but I’m happy he grew from it
I saw Alex on This Morning last year and how he has grown in to such a level headed, wholesome man is amazing. Him and his Dad seem such lovely people and Rachel would be so proud of how they carried on in her memory 🖤
When I read about how they're doing now it made me cry like a baby! They seem like such wonderful people that Rachel would love even more now than I'm sure she did while she was alive
I don't think Collin's reaction to the fake confession is THAT weird. He might have been so afraid of being the next victim that he acted like he was fine with it. Or so lonely that he convinced himself she was lying/imagined it. Regardless, the poor guy didn't deserve this and the police could've used that wasted time finding the ACTUAL murderer.
True like I’m sorry but if someone told me this same situation I’d try act as cool as possible about it . I also would probably find it hard to believe a person would straight out just say this shit but if I was sense sincerity of that bombshell I’d ask as many questions and do my own background research after the meet up to see if it’s true and then go to police lol
That's also what I was thinking. In the event that she _actually_ killed someone as a satanic sacrifice, of course I wouldnt want to upset her in fear of being next!
Exactly! Personally I’m very numb to stuff like that with the way I was raised but I don’t think most people would even have a reaction due to fear or maybe even shock.

He was literally sexually harassing women and people in public just because police catfished him doesn’t mean he had terrible luck he was clearly a bad person that’s not a murderer. And if police didnt investigate him everyone would be PISSED. It’s easy to critique their investigation after everything‘s been uncovered but in reality he was suspicious beyond belief
@@astrobejb investigating someone is their job, this whole situation is fucked up and beyond anything in their job role. It wasn't an investigation, it was manipulation of a vulnerable person
@@astrobejb It's literally one of the worst investigations I've ever heard of. Claiming you will sleep with someone if they say they had committed a murder? Do you really expect a judge to accept these as evidences? And don't get me started with the fake confession of the Satanic cult, it's so stupid, it sounds like a Rob Zombie movie, did they really expect him to believe it?

I feel so bad for that man... like honestly between two consenting adults i don't really care what they do in bed, but i can see how this could've looked to everyone else. Still, that whole operation was so damn gross i dont know how no one saw anything bad about it
What was so awful regarding this case was that ‘Lizzie’ was awarded more compensation than Rachel’s son (who witnessed his mother’s murder)and retired from the force due to ‘emotional trauma’...
Can u talk about sandra bland? She's a woman who died of "suicide" in prison and a whole lot of people believe she was killed and her murder was covered up by police. Not to mention the mugshot.
This guy was not the man who murdered Rachel, but if he wasn't a murderer before he is now. They completely psychologically manipulated and abused him for over a year at a vulnerable time for him, knowing he already had somewhat sketchy fantasies. Now a lonely man with deviant sexual behavior has been given a stressor by repeatedly being publicly humiliated
I doubt he has become a murderer. He seems like a bit of a weird guy but his big hangup was that he was so lonely but now he's married and even has step kids and seems to be very happy. The police really, really encouraged these violent fantasies and thoughts in him though! Like, if during the time he was "dating" that undercover officer if he murdered to impress her that wouldn't be shocking at all! He actually demonstrated good intuition for knowing that her claims of murder were made up, actually it doesn't sound believable at all in the context of this sexual fantasy, it sounded so bizarre.
i know. i feel like they have traumatized him and can potentially make him a murder. used his desperation for their own gain. the probably can't trust anyone now
Sure Colin was weird, but he wasn’t a murderer and that’s all that matters. I’m glad he got his happy ending. He deserves it after all the crap they put him through.
Colin Stagg may have his own issues, for sure, or just unfortunate fantasies, yet it didn't make him a killer. And he never said he DID kill her, even to have sex. He knew he didn't murder anyone.
The barrister that was advocating for Collin actually mentions in his book that on many occasions visiting him in jail, Collin was more concerned about his dog than himself. He actually went on a hunger strike for several days for something related to his dog. It’s just so sad what this guy suffered through.
Where did you hear that he went to jail or that the barrister visited him or that he went on a hunger strike over his dog because I don’t recall hearing Eleanor saying anything like that I heard her say was he was acquitted so no jail time but they held him In custody for 14 months and that’s they had planned to steal his dog but didn’t and that’s all I heard so what are you talking about I also couldn’t find anything about him going on hunger strike and nothing ever happened to his dog
@@TheSystem.Co9 you go to an actual jail when in custody, they didn't just keep him in a holding cell for 14 months, even if he was acquitted, he was still in a jail for 14 months
‘Lizzie James’ also made a claim against the police for the trauma she endured during the investigation and she was given a lot of money in compensation
I feel bad for that officer, She had to pretend she was a murderer who enjoyed sacrificing people and had to speak to a guy who was a suspect of a murder in person..she probably thought her life was in danger. She got through the whole thing, she’s a strong woman
She left the police force soon after because of the trauma of the role she had played. Actually if they had listened to the pathologist who did the post-mortem they could have got on a better line of inquiry. You can read about the case in the book 'Unnatural Causes' by Dr Richard Shepherd.
Typical police tactics. Now, I realize they were under immense pressure to make an arrest in this case, but, you want to arrest the CORRECT perpetrator.
yeah but they don't know if he's the correct one, they just hoped that he was. that's definitely bad, but considering they had no idea he was the wrong guy, it doesnt make them the worst people in the world. i mean everything seemed extremely sketchy in the beginning
@Tnkrhll no, I'm from the States, but I'll definitely look into it. From what I know about True Crime, it seems like a lot of tactics are the same when it comes to law enforcement...
Bless that judge who decided to throw out the case due to lack of evidence. If he didn’t go against the police like he did there may be an innocent man sitting in prison and a murderer still out on the loose. Another Great video Eleanor!
Exactly and that could have encouraged more "investigations" like that to be done on other people. So to decide not to even see or consider it on court makes a huge difference for these kinds of immoral tactics being used.
The fact that this man was so desperate for companionship but refused to confess should have been a major eye opener. Unfortunately innocent people get taken down by lazy corrupt police officers that give police a bad name.

one thing that i was thinkingabout was that even thought eleanor mentioned how this very strongly appeared to be a "random attack", if rachel and her son visited the park often, she could have very well encountered a stalker... thoughts?
Colin may have felt like a huge idiot once he found out his date was a cop, but hopefully he can rest in the fact thats its no way near as stupid as the cops must have felt once his DNA came back as not a match.
Wouldn't really say he was just "kinky" when he wrote about wanting to have sex with the cop at the same park a woman was just murderered with a knife and basically re-enact the murder and rape scene of a woman and even recreating the pose. That isn't the same as a regular knife play kink, that's a sign of needing mental evaluation. BUT what the cops did was RIDICULOUS and trying to get a confession out of him and even saying that she would NOT have sex with him if he hasn''t killed someone?! INSANITY. If they genuinely believed he was a murderer, why would they not think those words could make him go out and murder again?! Seriously, some people don't deserve to be cops.
Could you imagine the trust issues you would have after months of communication with woman you thought was into you, one you went on dates with, and then you find out it was all a lie. I could never
They literally orchestrated this whole mans villain origin story. if he hadnt hurt anyone before he probably is more inclined to now seeing as hes been humiliated. i hope not tho
Yeah it could've turned really badly. Luckily he seems to be living happily now with his wife now and working in Tesco, so he's doing good for himself. Probably needed some therapy after he went through though. So unethical from the police.
It’s Paul Britton he thought Colin fit the criminal profile and when it turned out he didn’t instead of looking at other similar crimes that had taken place during the investigation, he doubled down and insisted it was Colin Stagg.
I can’t get over how someone could even think about harming a child, or harming someone in front of a child. Harming people is wrong, but there’s a new level for someone who can’t even fight back or stand up for themselves. Disgusting 😒

I hate that police think pentagrams in someone's home immediately make them think someone is suspicious. Nobody automatically thinks someone is suspicious because they have a cross on their wall
Well except the police force in 'Midsummer Murders'. If there's minister in the episode, he's usually the murderer, if there are lay Christians in the episode, they are also likely suspects. If you watch a lot of episodes you'll know what I mean.
Also he could have thought this woman is a bit odd, and that that was a sexual fantasy of hers. Because it sounds made up. What a completely hackneyed, dumb story to feed a suspect
I would been like huh okay cause if she had no qualms about killing a pregnant woman then Ole girl wouldn’t think twice about taking me out. 😭 on some real ass shit I would of tried to be nonchalant as possible in order to get away from her.

It's so disgusting that this is how they went about trying to get a confession out of him. Whether he did it or not, that confession should NOT be admissable in court because it's so freaking shady. It makes it even worse because he didn't do it. And the fact that they just kept pushing him. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you're two consenting adults, your kinks should not come into the conversation.

Honestly, I would think she was making the whole thing up as well because it's just so over the top and convenient, especially since the police had already confronted him about the Satanism angle.
Most guys wouldn't react as long as they thought they were going to get sex
It was an idiotic plan and response to his response. I was saying to myself, "He must either think she's lying or he's trying to protect himself." There can be so many reasons you wouldn't react to that. His continuing to stay with her after that can be accounted by the desperation thing, which gels with his mental illness theory. Lots of people are lonely enough to not mind a chronic liar.

So disappointing. He really thought he found someone.
he got catfished before catfishing was a thing
I actually started crying when she said he was innocent this whole time, he was SO lonely all he wanted was someone no matter if they were crazy or mentally ill he just wanted someone and they put him through HELL and he was innocent, I’m so happy he finally found someone to love and even has loving step-kids now, his past was bad but I’m happy he grew from it
I suspected he was innocent but dang this was a bit of a spoiler
I really hate that they did this. It's actually so disgusting that they took advantage of this man's loneliness.
Yeah I probably would react the same way trying to hide my panic
I honestly would assume she was lying and doing some edgy attention seeking.
Exactly! Personally I’m very numb to stuff like that with the way I was raised but I don’t think most people would even have a reaction due to fear or maybe even shock.

the police took it too far. already he had a terrible luck with women then you find out the girl you're in love with is an undercover cop so heartbreaker. this is how serial killers are manufactured
Let's just ignore the ethics (even if they matter, because eventually he wasn't even the killer): how can you expect a court to accept ""evidences"" that are literally just getting the words out of one's mouth? Claiming you will sleep with someone if they say they had committed a murder? Do you really expect a judge to accept these as evidences?
And don't get me started with the fake confession of the Satanic cult, it's so stupid, it sounds like a Rob Zombie movie, did they really expect him to believe it?

@Tnkrhll no, I'm from the States, but I'll definitely look into it. From what I know about True Crime, it seems like a lot of tactics are the same when it comes to law enforcement...

The fact that this man was so desperate for companionship but refused to confess should have been a major eye opener. Unfortunately innocent people get taken down by lazy corrupt police officers that give police a bad name.
