I will never understand why courts believe community service is even remotely effective. I know so many people who commit crimes because they KNOW they'll get CS.
It does work for some people cause their giving back to the community it just depends on the person everyone deserves a second chance I don't really beleive in the whole prison this I think their should be a place for criminals to go but where they are still treated humanely and not like animals they need help therapists etc

not sureabout that , because cs is one step from prison you cant always guarentee you will get cs, i KNOW as iv been to prison 4 times and been on cs, been outta trouble 15 years now

Rachel Holley I’m English and I haven’t heard of a lot of these cases😀. To be fair, I haven’t lived in England for 23 years now. I’m a naturalized US citizen; I know the US cases, but it’s typically UA-cam and the BBC where I learn a lot more about UK news and the crimes. Mostly UA-cam. Crimes That Shook Britain was a great series.

hearing about the elderly couple just made me so sad :( 61 years together, her making hot chocolate for him...
it is sad but think about the other two victims as well...it hurts either way and no one deserves this.

Being a survivor of a murder attempt with a hammer this actually frightened me a little. I don't hear too many attacks with a hammer for some reason, it's a weird choice of weapon.

Omg I’m so sorry this happened to you. No one should have to go through something so traumatic. I’m glad you made it out and you were lucky but that does not mean you don’t have to live with the trauma of this horrible incident.

Yeah! And how did he live with Claire's body for a week before torturing & killing Diane and go shopping for his "murder cover up supplies" without knowing?
maybe he meant that he doesn't remember the moment of killing them. He was aware he did but was fine with it until later he run and hide because of it. But doesn't remember the assault itself which makes sense as he was the most violent when intoxicated

Basically he claims he came round from a blackout to realise hed killed his girlfriend. He then had to just deal with it however he could, until apparently he blacked out again and came round to see hed killed his girlfriends sister when she had come to visit. He then apparently knew he was in a lot of trouble and going to get caught so he left, only to apparently blackout again and come round to find hed killed the elderly couple. So, according to him, he remembers everything, besides actually committing the murders themselves.
My abusive relationship went like that: violent outbursts and such were so quick while there was a lot of decent time together before and after.

I'm so sorry for what you and your mother are going through. Even though you're not the one getting the direct abuse, it still weighs heavily on you. It's scary but there is hope with enough support.

I believe all murderers are sickening, however, when their victims are vulnerable individuals it breaks my heart and brings fear upon me. They're so pathetic as a whole, but I can kind of understand when Individuals kill due to their mental health as often it isn't their fault even though it doesn't excuse the fact that they have killed someone...Also, I believe when mental health is involved and there have been so many signs..it's technically the people around the murderes fault as well, but this is my opinion.
This case hits way too close to home. Like 3-5 miles too close. Thinking now I was only a child throughout the time he stabbed 1 man, killed 4 others and was on the run within a few MILES of me makes me feel sick!!!

Edit: just wanted to add this in but I remember the morning my mom found out and she was crying and telling me what happened, I was young tho so I didn't know how to react. My mom couldn't show up to the funeral but my aunt did and it's so sad how my mom's cousin's daughter said at the funeral that she didn't want to see her mom because of how bloody she was.

I spent a year in a very abusive relationship. It was like that. The violence would happen for like 10 15 minutes and then it would abruptly stop.

The reason he will have been charged with 'Wounding with Intent' is because it is easier to prove evidence-wise. With attempted murder, you have to prove intent to kill, and with wounding with intent, you only have to show an intent to cause serious harm. However, I do agree with your points as to reoffending.

oh, those poor elderly people... the other murders were sad, but...... i can’t help but think about my grandparents. i love them so much. my grandma loves to have hot chocolate with my grandpa. when they wake up in the middle of night, they have toast and hot chocolate, a tradition since their youth. they’ve been married for over 50 years, now, 52, i think.

Can you do the case of Diane downs? She killed her daughter and attempted to kill her 2 son's in 1983. It was a big case and I'd like to hear your take on it. I was only 8 and i remember some of it but not much only that it was all over the news for a long time.

I'm in recovery myself and I have been blacked out MANY times, yet I have NEVER, EVER even thought* about hurting someone where I'm straight up attempting to murder somebody. That is on a completely different level.
Wow, so weird that his home life and childhood seemed completely fine yet he still ended up a spree killer. Tragic for Claire and Diane's family.

Abusive relationships come in different forms and ways as the person has their own way of manipulation and knows it’ll work on every single person, but outbursts of abuse do tend to happen and not last long and then after the abuser will manipulate/scare the victim and they’ll turn and act like a happy dream couple. It’s sick and twisted but people work in strange and confusing ways sometimes.

In my opinion the UK justice system is too soft on offenders/criminals because people like these don't get enough of a punishment, as you said a that man attempted to MURDER just his ex's new fella for no reason at all. Its ridicules it truly is, this is just one case of reoffending but imagine how many criminals had "got away" for crazy things, Its mind blowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

recently moved from york to camblesforth a year and a half ago, had a chat with my neibough tonight and mark hobson came up...
i remember a double murder in strensal on the radio when i was like 15. guy was caught at the petrol station just outside of shipton, where the little chief was at the time...
The murder house of the two women is 300-400 meters away from my home... i remember hearing about it when i wasd a kid... im not gonna sleep tonight.
