I’m 61 years old now. Used to ride every day in late 70’s, and then moved into other things. I recently jumped on a board to show my grandsons (5 & 3) what to do in the driveway. After 40 years of no riding I felt really awkward, but they thought it was cool. Now I’ve found my late 70’s self built deck with Tracker trucks, and with Chad’s videos I’m getting my groove back! No vert yet, but street carving is as fun as it ever was. My wife and neighbors are sure that I’ve lost my mind. 😎
I'm 55 and still skating. I work on some tricks, I mostly just like to get the exercise. Pump tracks and easy mini trani. The big bowls on don't really do tricks on, but its good exercise.
That's very encouraging! I stopped skating in 1990, and picked it up from 05-08 til i broke my ankle carving a giant pool. Now I am 51 and finally have a back yard, so I building a mini ramp. If you feel good at 61 i know i can get out there again.
I'm 48, and I get the same look from my family and neighbors. I tell them I'm living my life, which, as far as I know, we only get one shot at. Haven hardly touched a board in 25 years, but my 11 year old daughter was interested in skating, and the best way to teach is to show her. Sometimes, it is painful, 😆
I really appreciate that your videos aren't always just over ten minutes. I hate those guys that don't respect their audience and just throw a bunch of b.s. in there to pad the length.
Thats awesome man i stopped at 18 and i just built a quarter pipe and am back into skating at 34 as well. Bad knee which is why transition is so great. No impact or little impact on the knees. I hope to be skating til im 60 or so
@@robertbettis6552 Dude i watched your fakie ollie that was sick! Huge pop. That is one i wann learn. I cant get the hang of doing a fakie ollie on transition though. Hopefully one day soon
Very helpful -- just started sliding around on a mini ramp recently and might just be me but it's really helped to improve board mobility and confidence on flat ground as well. I think your brain sees a mini ramp and thinks "high risk of death" and you "survive" it really helps to improve confidence
Hello from final year of civilization, 2020! I'm stuck in isolation with a micro-ramp I just built in my basement. I have no idea what I'm doing and it's great! I've been watching this channel a lot for easy tricks to learn. Thanks!
I’m no expert skater but I’ve already started playing with sliding my wheels on the face of the ramp not into 50/50, 5/0 just yet (it’s early days). Thanks dude that’s given me something new to think about though 😊👊✌️
I'm 32, and after an 18 years break i will start to skate again. Your video was a great motivator, since i always drove on street, never vert. I think i might have missed something!
Yeah it cool that u covered this because kids today tend to be obsessed over being perfect, but slide control when I sitting at the skatepark putting my pads on to go poolin....I really notice the guys who go fast and whip a nice slide in it hard to miss cause the wheels are loud, but it really pro level when a guy does it right and it really give u another level of balance and board control....when I started in Nanuet,NY....up the road a bit we had a 14 foot half pipe that just had a roll out right into the freestyle area, problem was we coming out at 40 mph,38,so I used to just put it into this big ski slide, and I started get good at feeling the front and back and learning how to steer the slide rather than just use it to stop me and avoid crashing into someone doing 360s,like dropping in your maxing out the guages on g force and it still ranks up there with the top fun move on a skateboard. But the Ollie oop is the reason I came back to skating,I couldn't do it on my dirt bike and no other trick for me say I got this shit, than a front or back Olli oop air....crazy man crazy...THANKS mini ramp u mean mega ramp rite,JK...
I am a beginner and would love an in depth tutorial on powerslides on different surfaces including the type of wheels you can use for it. I live in a pretty rugged terrain so I am not sure what wheels I should use or any tips for it. Love the channel, much love
yes! I can already do these, will take it to alley opp grinds soon! Thanks for the great vids, one of my fav skate channels. If you not got many tricks you can look cool on the mini sliding about, like me.....
I started doing slides on timber ramps last year. I'm not good, but gee did my confidence go up when I learnt this! Good explanation Chad - I'm going to go practice FS and BS whenever I get that chance.
Good tip man will try this next time i'm at the mini. Hit the mini for the first time ever at the weekend and I loved it. Hoping to have a vid of it up tomorrow.
Great, thanks for going into details on this one! Please put something like "slides" in the title, so you can find the video better, when looking for it!
How hard are your wheels? I am looking for the right amount of stick, but know what you are saying about controlled slides. I had some wheels slip out on me in a dusty masonite Woodward pool, and it put a screeching halt to my midlife skateboard comeback. So I have been skating with longboard wheels ever since.
My mini ramp is concrete, also I skate bowls and pools that are concrete. Is this something I should try to learn on concrete transition or is it better for wooden ramps?
I like the fact that this guy is New York without the machismo bs. Like I never knew this guy but within 10 seconds of seeing a video of his for the 1st time I was like. New York. He could have been in that show Taxi.
I used to work at a skatepark that had coping just like that.. definitely can be frustrating but you’ll eventually get used it. Bigger coping is good for some tricks like feebles and smiths but for tricks like these it can make it a bit tougher
It's weird how the old timers are suddenly getting back into skateboarding all at once. I'm 49 and haven't skated very much over the past 20 years but now I'm skating around 5 times a week and I see more people my age at the local skatepark than kids. I don't know what happened but I'm kinda thinking it was Covid that caused people to start reexamining their lives. Maybe it's people wanting to get healthier or maybe it's people realizing their passions. I'm not sure but it's awesome!
Great vid. You should do a Fortune Skateboards review next

Yo Chad thank you you helped my kids progress with you're tutorials thank you

Fantastic. Now I can slightly understand how ppl do those complicated tricks
can't believe this channel has so few subscribers. Excellent skating and tutorials.
best channel for tips and overall dope mini ramp skating
Great channel man..I’m 42 and back at it..built a lockdown ramp and diggin your vids for things I’ve forgot and didn’t know!👍
Appreciate that Gavin
I never really tried sliding my wheels, but when I saw this video I tried and it's so much easier!!! Thanks dude
chad! ive barely been able to stay caught up with youtube as of late but your channel is killing it! youve got this!!

Those sliding tricks definitely look sick!
Great! Nobody does these bigger picture tips, you've cornered the market!
Tempting. Very tempting.

Une des bases du skate. Mélangé avec d'autres tricks je trouve les slides supers beaux.
This is huge for a vert/transition beginner like me! Going to be keeping this video as a reminder FOR SURE 🙏
Oooh i like that. Good advice
Thanks for sharing, great advice. Just realized how many more tricks I can attempt now without over-pushing my skills and winding up hurt.
Dude you should have so many more subscribers! Love your channel!
Appreciate that Christian

Nice tip bro. Thanks
yes! I can already do these, will take it to alley opp grinds soon! Thanks for the great vids, one of my fav skate channels. If you not got many tricks you can look cool on the mini sliding about, like me.....
Must be nice to have a wooden mini ramp versus the hard crusty concrete we have here in Oregon...
love your stoke, solid!
Very good , thanks.
I started doing slides on timber ramps last year. I'm not good, but gee did my confidence go up when I learnt this! Good explanation Chad - I'm going to go practice FS and BS whenever I get that chance.
This video is great. Great skating!!!
That a really good tip. The ride looks much smoother. Thanks a lot man! I try as soon as I recover from injuries! 👍🏼
Thanks! Heal up soon!
Chad Caruso Thx Man! 👍🏼
great video chad. thanks for talking about little techniques that apply to a wide range of tricks! keep killing it
Good tip man will try this next time i'm at the mini. Hit the mini for the first time ever at the weekend and I loved it. Hoping to have a vid of it up tomorrow.
Wooo.. never thought about it. Great tips! Gonna try this next skate session. Thanks man!

Awesome! I've been waiting for this video. Thanks for the tips.🤘🤘

Such a good feeling doing this.
Those look pretty sick. I can revert but I can't power slide worth jack...I'm going to have to learn.

Awesome channel, Im building myself a backyard miniramp atm :)
Thanks! That’s awesome, I’ve been thinking of doing the same
Chad Caruso Im not gonna make it that big tho to make it easier to learn tricks. Good idea?
Thank you!
Do you think, that it is possible with a cruiserboard and lots of passion and practicing or do you think that the wheels are too soft for it?
How hard are your wheels? I am looking for the right amount of stick, but know what you are saying about controlled slides.
I had some wheels slip out on me in a dusty masonite Woodward pool, and it put a screeching halt to my midlife skateboard comeback. So I have been skating with longboard wheels ever since.
42 and getting back into the game. Plus, I'm teaching my son and step son how to skate too. It's kinda coming back to me...lol
Great Info, This Is Definitely Good Knowledge To Have. Great Video And As Always Keep Shredding Bro 😎
Sweet as, Bro.
Very helpful vidéo! Thanks! +1 followers! ;)
Siked the video was helpful and Welcome!
damn dude, thanks a lot, keep going man
My mini ramp is concrete, also I skate bowls and pools that are concrete. Is this something I should try to learn on concrete transition or is it better for wooden ramps?
Yes learn it dude nothing like that quick little skerp sound your wheels make sliding into your favorite trick on some nice smooth butter concrete.
It’s easier to learn on skatelite for sure, i do it on cement too but it take a bit more leaning back otherwise your wheels will stick
Do a Bs powerslide tutorial please!
amazing great how to vid!!✨✨✨
could you make a switch rock tutorial it's a one i struggle with i always clip if i try to put it decently on the deck
Hi chad , love the channel and all the tips as I’m skating again after a 20 year break. What wheels are you using on skatelite? Thanks
If you want good sliding wheels get bones stf's
Scrubalicious Scrublord ok cool are they still grippy enough?
John Reynolds yeah they're grippy and they slide, good for bowl and street
Scrubalicious Scrublord awesome thanks for the advice 🛹🤙🏼
Chad finally getting some views!
Love the end....not much risk! (Bites it)
Really good vid 👍👍
idk abt those 25 dislikes... this video is amazing
The 15 people who disliked this are angry scooter riders, great vid man.

Ok. Im trying the slide in and stuff but my big problem is every ramp at our park has thick ass coping. Very thick coping
The coping just stops me from getting an easy slide and i have to reaaally force it in to lock. Which is like 1/3 of the time
I used to work at a skatepark that had coping just like that.. definitely can be frustrating but you’ll eventually get used it. Bigger coping is good for some tricks like feebles and smiths but for tricks like these it can make it a bit tougher
Where are the other people???
Your always alone....just wandering....and by the way....
Your videos rock!!!! Thank you
Thanks! I go really early in the morning otherwise there are too many people on the ramp to film
Excellent for surf cross training!
Btw push people to subscribe

98% of our ramps down under are concrete, and I ride softer/intermediate wheels, so I really have to commit to a slide

Is that a mini ramp tho? That thing looks pretty steep. I'd call that a quarter pipe personally.
A quarter pipe is a stand alone obstacle. Half of half pipe = quarter pipe
