this is like 5 years of practice put into one video lol
thanks needed this remind myself, i dont suck cuz i cant learn in a week
SuperKingbunny assuming you aren’t a beginner, if you spent 4 days at a skatepark committed to learning a backside air over a hip, you could land a decent one for sure. Issue most people have is that they go to a skatepark, try a trick for 20 minutes, then give up and move on and tell themselves they’ll learn it some other day.
@@PONYBOYonline Brilliant observation. Thank you. I will keep that in mind.
As long as you’re comfortable on transportation just early grab
If 5 years is a lifetime with natural ability.
Omar, you have answered all my questions I've ever wanted to know about busting air in just less of 4 minutes! Thank you so much brotha! Keep shreding!
The most comprehensive "how to" in transitions I've ever seen. Very clear minded feel of the flow! Thank you!
Thanks Nilo. Glad they were helpful.
Excellent series of vids. So glad Omar worked with you guys. He's always been a boss but his instructing skills are just as good! Exactly what I've been looking for, all of em.
you dont really have to ollie, just scrabe the tail :)
Yeah all those tricks right there take about a year-and-a-half it don't take note 8 minutes and 24 seconds good luck fellas
Haha so true, it literally takes hours and hours of practice to get all this stuff, I’ve been airing over hips for years and only realized recently you get more air and it’s safer if you apply pressure to the tail. I figured it out through trial and error. Every winter I lose this trick and then have to keep doing airs over hips in order to get more and more air and make it look nice.
its so easy for him, you can tell he's trying to keep it small but still catching like 3 feet of air. you can see how he lands just under the coping, so precise and smooth
This is when you watch a very well explained video, ... he makes it look easy,... you go to the bowl so confident, with all the theory in your mind, ... you see yourself doing it ... and when the moment arrives,... you realize how difficult it is, you hardly pass step 1 and you realize that your dream will take so much time and effort 😥
baby steps bro, baby steps. I still cant air over the coping but i dont fall anymore.
This video gives me feelings of an tlc series 😲
Really nice tutorial, offers a good overview over the different aspects of doing hip transfers. One thing I've been wondering about: It looks like for the frontside air, Omar is just using the pop of the coping where as for backside he starts incorporating an ollie much earlier. Do people typically rely more on the coping for frontside and more on pop for backside?
no..gotta pop frontside once you get higher
I find usually if you put pressure on the tail the board end up going over the coping, even if it’s just a little bit
Looks so easy! Yeah, right. Regretfully, I stopped skating before the parks came back. I got tired of paying fines as a poor kid for street skating. Then, the job, married life and kids came on and took over. Now my 8yr old has asked me to help him learn and I'm sucked back in. I can still ride pretty good and set up some slash grinds but the ole tricks seem a lot harder these days! Haha...
Thanks for the hints, I go tomorrow pool riding (first time after 45 years, small pool) :-)
Go for it! Just be sure to do some warm up and muscle stretching first. And speed up GRADUALLY, feeling comfortable all the way, never forcing it.
Even if you just put pressure on the tail the board will go up in the air and it’s safer cuz it sticks to your feet better the more pressure you put.
Thank you Omar ! Simplified it for me after all these years. Cheers legend !
Thanks bro.....need the help and advice and it's good progression advice. Appreciate the thinking behind the video
That park is for pros .but the great thing is won't be no poser scooter kids there
I bought his Vans a long time ago. They were dope!
when u skate, ur face kinda look like "jack" in the mcgyver drama series.
Im really happy that you included round hips, thank you very much!
Airing straight to Oli-ing, that's a whole vid on its own.
One day... One day...
This guy's a good teacher. Thanks broski!
Now how do I get into my girls hips
Best Explaination on transition..btw thank you Sir :)
He acts like this isn’t scary af
What he calls a "frontside air grab" is what I've always thought of as an indy, and a fairly classic one too.
+Rufusdos
Indy air is only to back hand.
;)
+PenaSJC 5:13 it IS his back hand dude!
+Rufusdos
No bro. At 5:13 is the classic front side air.
PenaSJC
What do you mean "no"? You say indy is back hand, I agree with you on that. At 5:13 he uses his back hand, therefore = indy. I guess an indy is just one type of frontside air.
Indy is grabbing with you back hand but turning backside in the air, he is doing a classic frontside air at 5:13.
Hold my beer! It’s air time…
He says frontside Hip and it shows a still frame of him doing a backside melon
This is a detailed block of instruction, hope to pull this off soon !
The shooting is so bad all angles are awkward and not helping to grasp the thing at all.
my local hip is so skechy
Erazzmataz mine too
he makes it look 2easy
Do I need to use the concave of the tail for the ollie? Because you are standing more inside than outside.
probably for safety of the back foot, if it slip...
This was awesome!
fuck yeah
How about the landing. How you keep the board from shooting out of the bottom of your feet.
2 phase : sucking the board to ur chest, then extend gradually to land, if ur are slow enough the board stick
West Linn skatepark
Thank you.... appreciate the tips
