What Bitrate Should I Use For Streaming?
The easiest way to understand bitrate is by calling what it actually is, your upload speed to the Twitch servers.
Now you’ll need a higher bitrate depending on how high quality you want your stream to be, this means 1080p 60 frames per second will need a bitrate of 6000, which roughly equals 6megabits upload speed on your end being taken up
By lowering your resolution and framerate, you can make it a lot easier to stream, for example, if you set your base canvas size to 1920x1080, but change your output to 1280x720 otherwise known as 720p you drop down to only needing a bitrate of 4500 or 4.5megabits.
If you still want 1080, you can even just lower your framerate from 60fps to 30fps and then adjust to 4500bitrate.

What Is The BEST Encoder For Streamer?
The best encoder for streaming depends heavily on your computer's hardware, the two main options are x264 and Nvidia NVENC.
The major difference here is x264 uses your CPU and it can be very taxing, but Nvidia NVENC uses a special chip on your Graphics card, it is a different part of your graphics card and has nothing to do with your game performance so it won’t hurt your gameplay and vice versa, but not every graphics card is NVENC capable. Elgato has a great list and tool to help find if yours is capable

Congratulations on becoming a Daddy lol, I became a grandmother again in Dec.
I was wondering if you could do some video's about setups when you're not gaming. I use twitch as a learning tool. I stream blender, friends and others come in and help me learn my way around it. It's easier then just watching video's or reading websites as they can see what I'm doing in real time and give help in real time.
I already know my computer is not top of the line. It's similar to an i5 with 32 gigs of ram and an nvidia 650 (really old lol) graphics card, which only has 1 gig of vram. I can't even use the latest OBS cause of my card, I have to use the 27.2.4 cause of something that was changed in the newer versions of OBS.

I just wanted to say thank you for your content Eljay. I have been subscribed for a couple years, but never really applied the lessons. At the beginning of this year I decided to apply myself. I have begun making youtube shorts and long form and it really helped to make my streams have purpose when I go live even if there are no viewers. I also added follower goals on screen using your guide and I have had followers each time I've gone live when I had none for a couple months even if i had a few people watching at a time. 🍻

I'm shooting on my Sony A7SIII at XAVC S HD, 60fps, and I still experience some lag between my audio and video (most notable when I'm editing my recorded streams later). How do I fix this?
My audio comes in faster than my camera, its pretty normal due to video requiring more encoding.
I set my mic to its own solo track for recording, and then delay the track by 130ms and that syncs it back up.
You could lower the camera resolution to 720p and it might help, or potentially try a different capture card if yours is offbrand.

I'm using the Elgato HD60 S right now, but I'm looking into investing in the Bridge Cast X! The idea of controlling all of my audio inputs in one piece of gear seems like a dream (I'm using a behringer mixer right now and It's been a nightmare to navigate)! As well as having my camera and capture card also feeding in through a single piece of gear instead of 3+ peices of equipment. Are there any major notable differences in capture card quality between the two?

i dont have the option to enable bandwidth test mode. I have had to use the ?bandwidth test that you add to the stream key. I use obs version 30.0.2
So if I subscribe to owned for a bit and then don't resub a couple of months down the line, do I lose access to those graphics and what not

This might be unrelated but i want to ask, why when i go live does twitch sometimes only notify followers as late as 30 mins into my stream that im now live? is this anything to do with OBS or is it a twitch thing? I always get people saying they weren't notified when they say that they have notifs enabled! super thanks for all your vids 🔥
It means you’re not consistent enough, likely they don’t know if you’ll stay live, how long, when, etc
We found if you always go live the same days at the same time, and do a minimum of 3 hours, twitch sends notifications out, otherwise it gets spotty.
Twitch doesn’t send go lives out unless they know you’re staying live.
The other reason is people haven’t been staying and enjoying the stream so it stops recommending the stream to them unless they turn on notifications.

In youtube I stream on 1080p is blurry, but stream on 1440p everything will fine no pixel.

whats more important on the bandwidth test, Quality or RTT?
for me, Option has 39ms RTT and 99 Quality, but option 2 has 23ms RTT and 90 Quality
It’s a balance, likely you won’t have issues with either server though
so after i do the test, what exactly do i do with the information i collect from the stats window? i'm not sure what i am looking for.
example as of right now it shows i miss 145/800k frames, is that good? is that bad?
The test will say how you're missing those frames, are they dropped, skipped or lagged?
And then the ENTIRE next segment talks about how to solve those things and whats causing them.
Then the entire next segment goes through the settings.
Gonna try this and see if it solves my encoder overloaded error

Twitch could just follow UA-cam and accept a higher bitrate on their end.
Btw one tip: you might have problems with your microphone sounding „muffled” (from time to time). It took me a long time to figure out that it’s caused by RNNoise, so if you have the same problem, that might be a fix.
I WAS LOSING MY MIND MY MICROPHONE sounds good but in obs it kept sounding like 💩 i was getting frustrated took off all my filters but rnnoise. And it still sounds bad every now and then.. speex sounds bad though. What should i do?

Yep, as I say in the video 6000 is soft, 8000 is hard, but you need wiggle room so don't set 8000.

Check your stats panel. If it’s dropped frames then yeah it’s your internet and the video covers fixes.
If it’s the other twice well the video covers those too.
@@StreamScheme Hey, firstly thanks for answering, but i checked the stats panel and made a test on that twitch test thingy but everything says great and i have no dropped frames anywhere, but still when my game moves it pixelated and when its still it looks fine, could it be twitchs fault? I tried it with 6000kbits and i have 40mbit upload so that should be fine, right?
That’s a bitrate issue, pixelation is almost always a bitrate issue, likely you need to lower your overall settings down to 720 and 30 then 6000 bitrate
