I love the fact that you're recycling used roast chicken containers and turning them into mini greenhouses! Very clever! I'm going to try this method with my Rex Begonias.
@@kona702 Whole chickens that are under the heat lamps are sold in plastic containers; whole chickens that are cold are sold in bags. Some other containers hold slabs of roasted bar-b-que pork (overdone, in my opinion); others hold chicken pieces.
That was amazing. Just got Hubby new plant yesterday. A few of the leaves got broken during transport. He had originally tossed the broken leaves; however after viewing this video, I have retrieved 2 of the large leaves and plan to give this propagation method a try using one of my many roaster containers. Brilliant idea thanks for sharing.
I bought a fabulous begonia Rex this year and was looking at how to save it over winter/propagate more cuttings and this is just what I needed with several easy examples of how to do so! Thank you! No fuss and clear results! 🙌🏼
Amazing! i have seen many videos but sometimes they don´t put the "after some days" result. Thank you. I tried similar but my leaves rotten:( now i will do with this technique.
Never imagined this would work on Begonia Rex. So excited to try this as I love this plant! Thanks for sharing this technique with us! BTW first time subscriber :)
I followed this exact video for my begonia and am hoping for the best! Thanks for the help! One question I have is whether or not I can open up the container? Of course I don't plan on opening it everyday but how often can I open to check in on them?
Hi, During the propagation period do you add water to the soil or only at the beginning to keep it wet? Secondly, how long does it take to see any growth? Thank you
This video was after 15 days it said on scree. They had premoistened soil to start with and I'd mist every few days depending on your environment conditions. I have dry winter in canada so I may tape the holes like I do for hoyas.
Its pointless to ask how often to water, as so many factors effect how much a plant needs, the question should be how moist do I need to keep the soil. Same with how long it takes to grow.
Wow!! I just bought my first ever begonia...a mesmerizing iridescent red rex! Thanks for this awesome video. Maybe I missed it, but I wasn't sure about was how often to water the leaves after the initial watering? 🤔
Hello! Thank you for this very informative video! I'd like to ask if this method could also be used on Begonia Tiger Paws? I have its leaf with stem in water for days now and nothing seems to be happening...
I have used this method and it worked for me so when can I take them out of this propagating pot and put the new plants into a pot of their own? thanks
Wow! I have totally been needing this video, I want to propagate my begonia Rex. Thanks for showing the progress, and I love the idea of using the chicken rotisserie container 😂
Hi I have been trying to propagate begonia Rex for 2 months thru stem cutting and wedge cutting as you demonstrated in the video. I planted the cut leaves into rectangular plastic containers of soil mixed with per lite and peat moss. I watered them before placing them at a bright and airy corner of my car porch away from direct sun light. I did not cover the container over the leaves as I feel Singapore is humid enough. I find after a few days the planted leaves invariably turn black and wither. What can be the reason?
I tried but almost all of them rotted so I change from potting mix to coco coir mix with perlite and still rotted, any advice? I water once when started
I tried this with red bull begonia, and other kinds begonia rex varieties. The first few small leaves came out different. The plantlets of red bull begonia has some silvery portion and spots shouldn't have. I hope the future leaves will turn like it's mother plant.
Stem on or off my results are the same leaves just rott, I think it depends on the type of rex this person is using. Through my research ( and experimentation) lots of people who try this end up with the same results of rotting leaves.
@@grimsonforce7504 I'm just doing it in like piece of Tupperware that I poked a hole in the top for a slight bit of oxygen. I watch videos like this of people propagating stuff all the time, and I've tried so many times with no luck. The only thing I've ever gotten to propagate was a pineapple top, and the plant is doing very well. I tried roses, African violet, Rex begonia, eggplant, lavender, and marigold seeds from a marigold plant. Nothing grew. I just suck at it 🤣

I'm going to try this method with my Rex Begonias.
I save the clear plastic cake/cookie boxes for this reason too!
I saw that too! But they sell them in bags at my supermarket now 😢
I tried sticking begonia clippings in water and they rooted quickly, just the way the geraniums do!!! Very happy!

Do you water them often after you put them in the soil? How long till we see new growth?

What can be the reason?
Maybe the reasons for this case
1. Over watering
2.The leaves/leaf is not matured
Perfect 🥰
May I know is there a need to water daily? Do you leave them in the container in touch for 15days?

Hi Its really wonderful video 👌
Now I know what to do with the Costco chicken container!
Amazing,a verry powerfull of development
How long do you keep it dome covered?
Super information, is that can be kept in water for further development? Or can then transform into soil? Thank you in advance
It’s better to transfer into soil.
I just got one of these and a leaf broke during transport, my first thought was I must see if i can propagate the leaf
wow i am so doing this! unreal ty so much for sharing! What other plants can I start this way?
What kind of soil did you use for this? Can I use a regular potting mix or do I need a special soil?
