I love how Stark is comparing himself to Himmel throughout the episode, feeling insecure and even saying "Himmel wouldn't have run", but then he spends his whole day helping all the villagers, which is exactly what Himmel would've done
Stark's backstory brings me to tears every time. This kid has been devoid of praise and approval for most of his life and suffers from low self-worth. Getting praise and recognition from Frieren multiple times means the world to him.
Starks backstory, and the realization that his brother thought he was a real warrior even when no one else in his family does, just gets me every time. Plus he is suffering from survivors guilt and blames himself even though he was just a kid. Man this show just makes me tear up every time. Can't wait for more episode reactions
The way Stark always helps everyone wherever they go, in another 100 years, it will be his kindness and deeds that will inspire people like Himmel's did.
12:10 the way the song pauses and comes back for that short clip of Himmel, sadly still makes my eyes water. This show is soooo beautiful lol If you’re ever interested in checking out the OST, the song is called “Headpats and Praise”
The fact that Himmel was never bothered by not having the “real” hero’s sword, and later declaring that not having the real sword didn’t make a difference speaks volumes to his character. Also, those little flashbacks like right around 12:08 timeframe are some of my favorite parts of the whole series because you see how much those memories mean to Frieren. Remember how she remembers Himmel for episode 14, and when you’ve seen episode 27 watch the second one again, the way that everything ties into itself in this story is simply amazing.
It was at this point that I began to believe that I was watching a masterpiece of an anime. They manage to pack so much in so little screen time and make you feel so much in such a short time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reactions
Stark saw his brother when he looked at the Hero's sword because in Stark's mind Stoltz was a real hero. In wider context it also implies in the story that the reason no one has pulled out the heros sword is because all those who would be worthy of the sword die heroically before they get to it.
@@argetlam05 Or that the great calamity already happened centuries ago but everybody just forgot just like kraft's heroic deeds, which coincidentally was forgotten by everybody in the world too
I think Evan Call has a lot to do with all those feelings hitting us while watching. This guy's music can make you cry even while peeling potatoes! Troubadour of human emotions!
I love how subtle the reason is for why the village can't hire adventurers to handle the monster problems; Frieren says "it's because Himmel is the Hero", which doesn't make sense at first, and when the sword is revealed to still be in the cave, you're not likely to think back on that line. Adventurers came to see if they were worthy of the sword, and they'd clear the monsters on the way. Once the story of Himmel pulling the sword got out, there wasn't any reason for adventurers to come and deal with the monsters anymore. just a delightful bit of world building
My top favorite anime, for years, has been Rurouni Kenshin, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Initial D, Code Geas, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Sword Art Online (and abridged), Dragon Ball Z/Super, and Card Captor Sakura. When Frieren came along, it took the top spot on my list.
I often comment on people's reactions to this episode. I initially used to agree that Stark should've tried to get the sword, but the more I've read in the manga and the more I've thought about Frieren as a story, the more I'm happy that Stark didn't even make the attempt. At the end of the day, Himmel proves to us that heroism isn't a divine right given to only a chosen few. His actions and the intent behind them is what makes him a hero. The same applies with Stark. Even when he was just a scared kid, he DID stand between the Dragon and the villagers despite his fear. I do think it's more likely that Stark chose not to try because of his lack of self-esteem than believing that heroism doesn't need to be preselected by the Goddess. But either way, the result is the same. Stark's actions from here on out won't be the result of confirming some grand design. Everything he chooses to do will mark him as a hero on the strength of his own character without the need of a magical sword's seal of approval. He already mirrors Himmel in a lot of ways, but heroism by choice is by far my favorite.
22:13 "I'm gonna have to revise my top 5 anime because this is for sure up there" You are not even half way trough. Just save some time and clean out the first place now, you gonna need it.
Stark wont attempt to pull the sword because in his eyes the one deserving of that title is his older brother. Science-based facts here, love it to see something like this as male nurse :D
Frieren is the everything anime. Everything from characters through animation, music, story telling is elite! Although it seems generic it is far from it. The story telling makes this show so special!

Or the Demon King wasn’t the disaster that wanted to end the world.

And now we have
A "Fake" hero
A "Corrupt" preist
A "Cowardly" warrior
and a "Disgraceful" mage
who saved the world ❤
Now that's poetic as hell!
Oh girl, next two chapters are going to crush your heart and Frieren would top 1th place in your entire life hahaha, pretty confident on this.
LMAO NOOOOOO IM NOT READYYY
nah, no need to hype her, just another good episodes of frieren.
@@nemoatlantis7148 Hahah, chapter 14 is 9.9 above Vinland Saga, which is special for me

okay but actually tho 😭
Bliss is such a pretty song. Whenever it comes up on my radio I have to stop what I'm doing and just take it in again.
I love that 🥹

Frieren taught Heiter how to suppress mana, and he taught Fern. Full circle.
I love it 🥹

Himmel was so badass that he basically beat the final boss with the tutorial weapon.

That was no loaf of bread... that was a big ass BURGER that Frieren was eating :D
Bliss is freaking awesome, love that song
Those were definitely burgers they were eating in ep 11. Now I want one. Or two.
Episode 14 has my FAVORITE Himmel moment. ❤❤ Have tissues ready.
LMAO NOOO IM SCARED
Stark realizing at the end that he actually got presents from his master and family (his brother) 😭
That’s what makes it so sad man 😭😭
Fern is definitely projecting onto Stark when she calls him a perv. XD
Oh, you almost cried, let's see if you still can hold those tears on ep 14.

@@kriskilins This anime remembered me, that's life is worth living.
The heroes sword will be pulled when the world needs it. So if the demon king wasn't enough then that means something worse is coming 😬

It doesn't matter if he was a fake hero, he became a real one. Also, make sure you have tissues for ep 14.

If you don't cry on Episode 12, I'm not convinced you're human.
heres my supportive comment fam heh heh hehhh
Also, just pointing out that Stoltz, Stark’s brother, is voided by the guy who does Loid Forger from Spy x Family, while Frieren is voiced by Anya

Wait till you watch episode 14🫡
NAURRR
Flamme was a very bad person; the things she taught Frieren... other than magic.
