Frieren's clone did not come back. The first shot Fern landed was blocked. I like how the show fooled everyone into thinking Fern could take on Frieren, but in reality, Fern would have been killed in 20 seconds in a 1v1. I mean, even with Frierens help against the clone, there is a reason Fern stayed as hidden as possible
obviously Frieren knew Fern is ready to fight Qual together with her, to fight Lugner 1x1, to fight other mages on the exam, but not to fight Frieren herself 1x1. so yea, Fern wasn't the main figure here, she was the trick that tip the scales in thier favor.
29:25 Übel's brain doesn't care about logic. Here is an example: You can imagine in your mind that you drop a ball and it floats in the air instead of falling to the ground, but subconsciously you know gravity will make it fall so your floating ball magic wouldn't work. Übel's ball would float. She expects to cut a cloak or hair, her mind doesn't care that she knows they are thickly layered with defensive magic. So technically if the guy named his spell "super duper defensive spell" he would be still alive, he died because he named it ""immovable CLOAK" and Übel thinks any cloak fabric can be cut
Fortunately, it doesn't work so that the mage can do anything he can imagine. Ubel still has to use the Reelseiden spell to slash anything she thinks she can. So it won't be enough for Ubel's imagination alone to create a floating ball. She still needs to learn the spell for it first though.
I crack up every time I see Heiter hungover laying across one of those rock crystals while the rest of the party fights 😂 The OST is done by Evan Call, he's well known for doing the OST for Violet Evergarden. He's an amazing talent in the industry imo. I love how we can see two other golden mimics disintegrating while Frieren is stuck in one, implying that she did this at LEAST twice before the rest of the mages got down there 😂 The clone fight is animated so amazingly. I'm SO glad we know now that season 2 is also going to be done by Studio Madhouse. It's gonna look fantastic. At the end that was Richter being genuinely confused. I think he just doesn't know who Edel is and was like 'why are you talking to me I'm injured and don't know you" 😂 I LOVE Ubel's relationship with magic. She can just straight up defy magical logic with her own logic. Like sure she couldn't cut totally through the stone wall in the dungeon, but hair and cloth? Of course she can cut those! Amazing lol (also thank you so so much for helping with the hurricane relief fundraiser. I'm originally from the NE but now live in NC in the foothills, we were hit bad here but still nothing like what the mountains are experiencing. I appreciate it!!)
I love the little touch of having Serei say elves live closer to an eternity instead of saying forever or an eternity. No one could know if they won't die of old age since it could always be tomorrow.
You more or less nailed it regarding the clone's final attack. The closeup of clone Frieren's glare after both its arms had been blown off was intense. The attack is apparently something special and a trump card that Fern couldn't sense at all. Frieren says she hasn't been forced to use it for 80 years. That's high praise given Fern is the only one since the Demon King who forced Frieren to bust it out.
love the flashback on ep25, Serie saying she doesn't care, and then we see her walking with little flamme, basically just raised her like a mom :D i also love the fact that talked about the dawn of human civilization as something she witnessed, that's some 10 thousand + years of knowledge. On a side note Frieren telling Fern to stick to ordinary offensive magic while she's creating a reality shattering spell that looks like a miniature big bang 🤣
at the end of episode 26, Ton, the guy who went off by himself at the beginning was brought out by a golem. We saw him briefly dejected in the dungeon. In the manga we don't get much on him, we see him leaving the town in a wagon.
There are some really thin clear acrylic shelves online that would just rest above your couch top but not obscure the posters behind, if you want something solid to sit the plushes on. I had a frosted one myself, it had two clear acrylic braces on either side (since the plushes weigh almost nothing, it would not bow in the center) and LED in the back so it lit up on the unfrosted parts (which was the Game of Thrones sigils, for me). There are versions without the LED, but regardless they are practically invisible from the front. Mine was custom frosted, and in total I paid $125 for materials and sandblasting. Just a suggestion so you can fit your plushes without having to worry about tipping them over every time you sit down. Looked it up online you can get one for about 30 bucks, plus the cost of shelf braces.
Pretty sure Übel talked about it. A defensive spell like Frierens she cannot see herself cutting through. But Burgs and Senses cloak/hair look like basic cloth/hair. And knowing it can't be penetrated or cut does not stop Übel from imagining herself doing it. "Perfectly visualizing it", in fact. All that to say; Übel is a psycho, but she weaponizes it well
Fern's ZoltraAK-47 does it again. PS One of my favorite moments in the series is when all the other mages discover that the legendary Last True Mage who defeated the Demon King... ...is the fantasy equivalent of a Gatchapon addict. You just see in their eyes the moment when their worldview breaks like a wine glass. Classic.

Fortunately, Ubel can't do everything she can imagine. She has to use a specific spell, in this case the Reelsaiden spell, which cuts anything you're able to visualize in detail. Everyone so admires Ubel's imagination, but it pales when you compare her to Frieren, who can visualize a freaking singularity, to create a small black hole!!! If you think about it, that's something incredible for a medieval fantasy world.

What surprises me more is that Sense doesn't use a normal defense spell, but only relies on hair. If she did, she could have countered Ubel.

So in Frieren most magic is Visualization + Mana = Effect. I think the Height of Magic is just pure Visualization = Effect
