Glad to see they're going to bring it back in an official capacity. I'm actually surprised to be honest. Thought this was another "the modders will take care of it" attitude from them.
When the community claps back with "It's not a bug, it's a feature!" I genuinely hope that Bethesda will allow a manual pathing mechanic so we can organize our ship habs how we want them to flow. I would like to be able to centralize and divert ladders and doors as I please so I'm not constantly shifting habs around or deliberately spacing things out so the ship balloons in size. Also, 2-story habs that have stairs, ramps, etc. would be nice.
I would love to see manual pathing done in the base game. the mod "Place Door Yourself" does a good job of this, but it would be good to have it in the game. For stairs/ramps/new habs, nothing beats Matilija Aerospace IMO. He does an amazing job creating these assets for the builder. He even has a 3/4/5 story elevator hab. I would love to see Bethesda officially incorporate his stuff into the game.
It's cool that Bethesda are making this official but I still prefer Sadyrs ship merging enabled mod because it allows xbox users to what pc has always been able to do.
@FrostyDuc I never meant for the community to get sole credit for the fix, I just meant it as a tongue-in-cheek parallel to back in the day when obviously fixable bugs were touted as features by Bethesda and how they eventually got accepted as a meme by the community.
@@AeroQC i would also like manual pathing or being able to assign crew to certain areas of the ship. I build my big class C ships with crew space, all in 1's and 2x2 living quarters and still i find them hanging out in my custom built empty captain cabin and sleeping in my queen size bed :(
Great video Fam. I'm not a ship builder, but I am glad it's back for the builders officially integrated into the game. I always look forward to the awesome ships builders like yourself and others come up with. Thank you for covering this and making it easy for us non builders understand how this works. Looking forward to your next build.
What the ingame ship builder lacks is to view and edit the interior right in the builder. That should be a feature so you also could edit if it should be a door, ladder etc. Could work as pressing "V" to change view when base building. Shouldnt be hard to implement if they wanted to. But nice to have the flip thing as a feature.
Someone recently released a mod that allows for that now. I do think Bethesda should look at mods like that and incorporate them into the game. Things like Place Doors Yourself, Empty 1x1 Habs, and Better Ship Part Flips should be adopted into the vanilla game.
A great addition would be to be able to disable door / ladder points on a hab. E.g. hover on the point hit option and hit disable would be amazing for layout designs
@@TeamScorpioRI I want to I definitely want to when it comes out, but it’s probably gonna be a while since my son moved out you know turned 20 and all. So it may be a minute, but I definitely will eventually
Even before there were parts that would sometimes not merge and jumped in an upper position, sometimes only on one side and sometimes it worked, if you tried enough and from a different viewing angle. So I don´t think Bethesda changed anything in the flip merging glitch; it never worked 100%.
I got it to work once with those pieces in testing, but couldn't replicate it. I had to flip it, then move the piece back in place and flip again. It would "attach" to the end of the other piece, then I would have to select the ship and hit the "accept" command to place it. I honestly don't remember it giving me that much trouble, but then again I have been using Ship Building Tweaks for a while now. I am kind of used to just sliding it in place.
Agreed. Being able to merge pieces together just opens up a world of possibilities. I even do this with habs as well, using mods of course, in certain places (where I am not actually going to use the hab but am using it for filler space).
I never got it to work but I did have one ship where it worked flawlessly. I think it was probably because there were parts connected to all available snap points around it? Idk.
255...lol. I can't even get 60 mods to work right, smh. I'm glad the ship part merging is back. Yet with the mods we have now that actually gives a tolerance level, I'm gonna stick with that. That is if the mod still works after the update.
Well its kind of funny they brought this in as a toggle in the settings menu, but I think the reason why Bethesda never made merging parts together is it is kind of like cheating in a way with the gameplay side of things as you said, even though it does make the ships look cooler. I only see this addition of the flip glitch toggle as a temporary move for actually making the ship parts to be mergeable, but I imagine they probably are not going to allow all ship parts to be mergeable for gameplay reasons since they are completely aware of it as a glitch now that so many people use for advanced ship building. I think the merging option now as a feature in the game (and not a glitch exactly) is cool but it does affect the gameplay with how Bethesda designed the parts for ships originally speaking. The problem with the toggle is not everyone is going to know how to do it unless you look up a video since its a feature now, so they most likely are going to have to create a button prompt in the builder screen to enable merging parts together. As I said already, I think Bethesda might allow the merging option, but its going to be pretty limited most likely at the Vanilla level unmodded of what you can merge together. Weapons for example like merging inside of other parts probably won't be allowed for gameplay reason I think, so you probably will have to use mods to allow every part to be mergeable. But you never know as they might make it open, but I think they will go the compromise route most likely in the end.
I believe before mods I had this same issue all I did was place a part in the way so when I flipped the part it would travel up to the top of the hab. Basically you just have to remove the available hook points that it keeps traveling to.
They give and take at the same time. They patched the over level purchase glitch. Honestly going to miss being able to save those skill points for other things. 😅
Ship Builder Allow Flip Merge is not showing up in controles on my Xbox Series X. It doesn't show up anywhere and I just looked and it's 3:55 am 9/21/24. Outpost FlyCam Starting Distance is the last thing on the list.
Place Doors Yourself is the mod you might be looking for. Great mod, though it turns off all auto passsageway links in the ship builder so you end up having to put every single doorway you want in, including portholes.
I am guessing it was something that was fixed due to another issue. It may have even been something unrelated to the builder itself. Only the devs actually know.
I was hoping instead of a switch allowing the flip, that it was a slider that adjusted the overlap. This would have covered all techniques. Its an easy implementation as its just a single line change in the INI file.
Huh.. Funny as it was released by Bethesda, so that makes it a Bethesda game. Plus, they even stated that 250 out of their staff of 450 developers are working on the game. So thanks for playing. Go enjoy whatever games you do enjoy and please stop trying to trash on games other people like playing.

They do sometimes listen to feedback. Apparently they fixed the giants in Skyrim sending you to space and added it back cause people wanted it back.

Great seeing Bethesda actual fix things that modders are fixing. makes the game more stable without adding to many mods

When a part flips on top into wrong spot, you can just put something to in that spot temporarily to het it to merge where u want.
Good point
