Another good option to get to the cruise port from Rome is take the "Regionale" train from the Termini station. The trip takes a bit over one hour and there is a bus in Civitavecchia station, "CVO24" that will take you the 8 minute ride to the cruise port. The bus fare is included in the train ticket. Be sure to arrive at Rome's Termini station early, because the gate for the Regionale train is the furthest one from the front entrance and can take awhile to walk with luggage.
I've been confused about the transportation from Rome. I just found this two years after recording. Your information is SO helpful. I just changed my hotel reservations before and after my upcoming cruise from Cittavechia. Thank you!
Going in October, spending 4 days prior to our 11 day Greek Islands cruise on Carnival Pride. So excited. Been rescheduled for this trip since we booked it in 2019. It’s our Retirement/Wedding gift to each other. We would have been 67 at the time, not we will be 70 , lol 😂. Better later than never. Senior Newlywed’s are such fun 🤩
I'm glad that it is useful for you. We also are flying into Rome again, later in May. We plan to do the same as we have done on past cruises since it works so well for us. Happy Sailing!
@Silvia B I know the public train takes you Civitavecchia but once there you either have to walk through the industrial port area with your luggage or you have to get a taxi. We just love the Princess transfer. Have you done the train? We only know one person who has and they said they won't do that again. Thank you so much Silvia.
Thanks, Allison, for another very useful video. I have a couple of questions for you: 1) If I'm heading out to Civitavecchia City A DAY before my Sun Princess cruise is scheduled to depart and staying at one of the hotels in town, can I still use the Princess airport shuttle, and would there be one waiting at the airport one day prior at all?, and 2) If my hotel in Civitavecchia is located close to Fort Michaelangelo, where is the nearest spot that I can lug my luggage to to catch the shuttle to the ship? Thank you so much for this very informative video.
I'm researching for our cruise in 2022 and the information you provided has reassured me that the cruise line shuttle from the airport to the cruise terminal is the right way to go.
HI JOK, Yes, the cruise line shuttle has worked perfectly for us everytime and I have done it in Rome 3 times so far. I have family members and friends who have used other forms of transportation to get to the ship and the cruise line shuttle is by far the easiest. Let me know if you have any other questions. Rome is my favorite city of all.
Hi can you tell me how long it takes to get through FCO airport security and everything when flying back home? How long in advance do you have to go and is there anything extra you have to do like immigration/customs line?
We are usually trying to get from Rome to the port. We assume that doing some of the same in reverse would work. If you are disembarking, there are Disembarkation Excursions that will end at the airport or train station. You can take the train or a taxi (about an hour) into Rome and the taxis have a reasonable, set rate. If you are just there for the day, we highly recommend an excursion with the ship, as transportation delays can be common. Hope this helps.
If you get a hotel by the airport You only have one day in Rome Can you take a bus or transportation from hotel to the city Center To go on hop on Have you done hop on hop off buses
@Lori Milne Hi Lori, If I had to get a hotel by the airport and wanted to travel into the city for one day, I would definitely use the Leonardo Express train to get into Rome. It runs regularly and is much more reliable and safe than the bus. I really don't recommend the bus. The Leonardo Express takes you right to Termini, the main train station of Rome. From here you can take their metro to any stop so that you can sightsee. You can also walk from there if you would like. The Hop On Hop Off Bus also runs from Termini so you can catch it there. I have not done the Hop On Hop Off bus in Rome but I have done it in other cities in Europe and in the United States and have they have been great! If you have any more questions, just let me know! Rome is my favorite city in the whole world.
Hi Nancy, I always get some euros so I don’t have to worry about it right when we land. The exchange rate at the bank here is better than it is at the airport or ATM as well. Thank you for watching!

Thank you very much for adding that in. I forgot all about that Regionale train. Thank you, too, for watching our video!

Wondering why you went back to the airport and paid NCL transportation instead of taking the train to port since you were already using train service?

Do you have any tips from Civitavecchia port to Rome ..thank you for any tips you may have or information you can provide.

And is that Best Western the Santina?
Hi Jackson, Yes, it is the Best Western Royal Santina.
My family hired a private transportation to the port from Rome, easy, no hassles
Do you remember the name of the transportation company?
@@ivetaguilar9384we booked via Shipmate app

Won’t let me send you the screenshot
Via the app Shipmate, click on the port Civitavecchia ( Rome) and you’ll see transport options under excursions
In Rome I believe you have to validate your ticket before getting into train.
We take the train from Tremini to the cruise port.
@Traveling On That’s an option too! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for the great info. I'll save this and watch it a couple of months closer to our cruise date.
Thank you Pamela! I’m so glad you find it helpful. If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.
great video !! we plan to stay in Rome for few days first. & then board the ship. Should we get Euros in NYC before we fly out to Rome.?
Hi Nancy, I always get some euros so I don’t have to worry about it right when we land. The exchange rate at the bank here is better than it is at the airport or ATM as well. Thank you for watching!
🥰@@LetsGoTravelTips
Do you need to have Euros or can you use US Dollars?
In Rome your best bet is to get Euros. Exchange rate is about 1 to 1 right now.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!
