Thank you so much for this video. I just had sulbcromial decompression-of left shoulder two days ago. It helped with impingement, spurs and other issues i suffered from. Also, my cervical DDD started to feel much better after doing these neck retraction exercises as wanted to greatly thank YOU

hi there, I have been having a tight feeling in my chest and a dull ache in my upper back as well as the chest. this exercise for some reason really made those symptoms feel so much better. what is the connection between the neck and that?

Hi! We're really glad you found relief. We recommend ordering Robin McKenzie's Treat Your Own Neck book if you'd like to learn more about the method and how to safely apply it for yourself. We sell it on our Self Treatment website as well as a Healthy Neck video, which will teach you a lot as well!

The short answer is that your spine is where all of your nerves connect and pain can be referred to other parts of your body when it is out of alignment. The McKenzie Method applies conservative corrective movements in a logical order to rule out the simplest causes first based on symptom history and response.

This can't be McKenzie! I have never seen McKenzie tilt the head back like this so dramatically.

Hi! Thanks for your interest. There are less dramatic movements in the progression leading up to this exercise.
